Description

Sensor chip storage device and sensor chip removal tool

[0001] The present invention relates to a sensor chip storage device for storing a sensor chip and a sensor chip removal tool.

[0002] Blood glucose meters that measure blood glucose levels require a new sensor chip to be set each time a measurement is taken, and used sensor chips must be removed from the meter and discarded. Furthermore, since multiple sensor chips are provided in a storage container, users who want to measure their blood glucose levels must remove each sensor chip from the container one by one.

[0003] However, the storage container is usually small and often only large enough for one human finger to fit inside. Also, since the sensor chips are thin, elongated plates, if several are stacked inside the container, it is difficult to pick up and remove a single sensor chip with your fingers.

[0004] To address this problem, the following Patent Documents 1 and 2 disclose a sensor removal tool for removing only one sensor stored in a main body case.

[0005] JP 2015-163535 A International Publication No. 2013 / 073117

[0006] However, the sensor removal tools disclosed in the above Patent Documents 1 and 2 are thin, long plates like the sensors themselves, making it difficult to hold them firmly with the fingers, and if the sensor and sensor removal tool are tightly adhered together, it can be difficult to remove the sensor.

[0007] The present invention has been made in consideration of these problems, and aims to provide an easy-to-use sensor chip storage device and sensor chip removal tool that can remove plate-shaped sensor chips stored in a storage container one by one.

[0008] In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the sensor chip storage device of the present invention comprises a storage container for storing plate-shaped sensor chips, and a sensor chip removal tool for adhesively removing the sensor chip from the storage container, wherein the sensor chip removal tool comprises a long, rod-shaped stick body, an adhesive portion attached to the tip of the stick body for adhesively holding the sensor chip, and a wide handle portion located on the handle side of the stick body, and the wide handle portion is in the shape of a curved plate with depressions formed on both sides so that it can be held with two fingers, and is characterized in that a first gripping recess for a first finger is formed on one first surface side, and a second gripping recess for a second finger other than the first finger, which is one size smaller than the first gripping recess, is formed on the other second surface side.

[0009] Furthermore, the sensor chip removal tool of the present invention is a sensor chip removal tool for adhesively removing a plate-shaped sensor chip stored in a storage container, and comprises a long, thin, rod-shaped stick body, an adhesive portion attached to the tip of the stick body for adhesively holding the sensor chip, and a wide handle portion located on the handle side of the stick body, wherein the wide handle portion is in the shape of a curved plate with depressions formed on both sides so that it can be held with two fingers, and is characterized in that a first gripping recess for a first finger is formed on one first surface side, and a second gripping recess for a second finger other than the first finger, which is one size smaller than the first gripping recess, is formed on the other second surface side.

[0010] According to the sensor chip storage device of the present invention, the plate-shaped sensor chips stored in the storage container can be easily removed one by one using the sensor chip remover.

FIG. 5 is a front view of a sensor chip extractor according to an embodiment of the present invention placed on a floor. FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating how to use a sensor chip extractor according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 7 is a diagram illustrating how to use a sensor chip storage device according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 8 is a diagram illustrating how to use a sensor chip storage device according to an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 9 is a diagram showing the configuration of a sensor chip extractor according to a modified embodiment of the present invention.

[0012] The sensor chip storage device 1 according to this embodiment will be described below with reference to the drawings. In this embodiment, thin, elongated sensor chips 8 to be set in a blood glucose meter are stored in a storage container 2, and the sensor chips 8 are removed one by one from the storage container 2 using a sensor chip remover 10.

[0013] Fig. 1 shows a partial cross section of the sensor chip 8 stored in place. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of sensor chip extractor 10, with Fig. 2(a) being a perspective view from the first surface side and Fig. 2(b) being a perspective view from the second surface side. Fig. 3 is a side view of sensor chip extractor 10, with Fig. 3(a) being a side view from the proximal side and Fig. 3(b) being a side view from the distal end side.

[0014] The sensor chip storage device 1 comprises a cylindrical storage container 2 and a rod-shaped sensor chip extractor 10. The sensor chips 8, of which about 30 are stored in the storage container 2, are elongated thin plate-shaped chips with an electrical terminal 8a attached to the tip.

[0015] 1, the overall length of the sensor chip 8 is shorter than the height of the cylindrical storage space of the storage container 2 and longer than the inner diameter of the storage space. The sensor chip 8 is stored in the storage container 2 in an upright position, with the electrical terminals 8a located on the bottom side.

[0016] The storage container 2 is equipped with a lid 3 for opening and closing the entrance opening at the top end. A large-diameter entrance section 2a is formed at the upper entrance of the storage container 2, with an entrance inner diameter larger (approximately 0 to 3 mm) than the inner diameter of the cylindrical storage space. The inner wall surface of the large-diameter entrance section 2a is tapered, with the entrance inner diameter gradually increasing from the bottom end of the large-diameter entrance section 2a toward the top end, and then slightly decreasing near the top end.

[0017] Since the total length of the sensor chip 8 is shorter than the length from the bottom of the storage container 2 to the lower end of the large diameter entrance portion 2a, when the storage container 2 is in an upright position, the upper end of the sensor chip 8 is stored without reaching the large diameter entrance portion 2a.

[0018] The sensor chip extractor 10 comprises a rod-shaped stick body 11, an adhesive part 20 attached to the tip of the stick body 11, and a wide handle part 30 attached to the handle side of the stick body 11.

[0019] The overall length of sensor chip extractor 10 is shorter than the height of the storage space in storage container 2 and longer than the inner diameter of the cylindrical storage space. The center of gravity G of sensor chip extractor 10 is located near the surface of the connecting portion between stick body 11 and handle 30, on the side to which handle 30 is biased (see FIG. 4).

[0020] Furthermore, the width of handle 30, which is the widest part of sensor chip extractor 10, is slightly larger than the inner diameter of the storage space of storage container 2 and smaller than the inner diameter of the entrance of most of large-diameter entrance portion 2a. Therefore, handle 30 cannot enter the storage space of storage container 2 deeper than large-diameter entrance portion 2a.

[0021] The sensor chip extractor 10 can be stored in the storage space of the storage container 2 in an upright position, with the handle 30 positioned at the large diameter entrance section 2a on the entrance side and the tip of the stick body 11 positioned at the bottom of the storage space (see Figure 1).

[0022] The stick body 11 is a strip-like, elongated rod-like member, and at its tip is formed a wide, plate-like portion, the tip wide plate portion 14. A rounded rectangular (track-shaped) adhesive portion recess 15 for mounting the adhesive portion 20 is formed in the center of one surface (first surface) of the tip wide plate portion 14.

[0023] The bottom surface of the adhesive recess 15 is formed with irregularities 15a to strengthen adhesion so that the adhesive 20, which is the adhesive placed inside, does not easily peel off. The adhesive recess 15 is located in the center, set back from the longitudinal and lateral edges of the tip wide plate portion 14.

[0024] Specifically, the tip wide plate portion 14 has a longitudinal length of 12 mm and a width of 5 mm, and the adhesive recess 15 has a longitudinal length of 4 mm and a width of 3 mm. That is, the adhesive recess 15 is located 4 mm back from the tip edge in the longitudinal direction and 1 mm back from each of the left and right edges in the width direction.

[0025] Fulcrum protrusion 12 is provided on the first surface of stick body 11 near the joint with handle 30. As shown in Figure 5, when sensor chip extractor 10 is placed on the floor with the first surface side facing down, the tip side and handle side of sensor chip extractor 10 can move up and down alternately, with the apex of fulcrum protrusion 12 in contact with the floor surface as the fulcrum, but because the center of gravity G is located on the handle 30 side, the handle side will come to rest in contact with the floor surface.

[0026] In this way, by configuring the sensor chip removal tool 10 so that when the first surface side faces down, the handle portion 30 side is lowered and the tip wide plate portion 14 side is raised, it is possible to prevent the adhesive portion 20 from coming into contact with the floor surface and to prevent a decrease in the adhesive strength of the adhesive portion 20 due to the adhesion of dirt on the floor surface.

[0027] The adhesive portion 20 has a spherical bulge in the center, giving it a convex shape that protrudes from the stick body 11, and in this embodiment, a silylated urethane resin adhesive is used as the material. Other adhesives such as rubber-based, acrylic-based, and silicone-based adhesives can also be used as the material for the adhesive portion 20, and since the adhesive portion 20 is a component that is set into a medical device and used, it is desirable to use an adhesive that is low in skin irritation.

[0028] If the adhesive portion 20 is flat, the adhesive portion 20 and the sensor chip 8 will be adhered over a wide area, which may make it difficult to peel the sensor chip 8 off the adhesive portion 20 once they are adhered together. However, if the adhesive portion 20 is convex, the adhesive area between the adhesive portion 20 and the sensor chip 8 will be narrow, making it easy to remove the sensor chip 8 that is adhered and held on the adhesive portion 20.

[0029] Furthermore, if the adhesive area between the adhesive portion 20 and the sensor chip 8 is narrow, when the first surface side on which the adhesive portion 20 of the sensor chip extractor 10 is installed is placed upward, the sensor chip 8 may tilt around the adhesive area due to its own weight.

[0030] At this time, if the tilt angle becomes too large, for example, 45° or more, there is a risk that the adhesive will come loose and the sensor chip 8 will fall. However, in this embodiment, the adhesive portion 20 is set back from the outer edge of the tip wide plate portion 14, so that even if the sensor chip 8 tilts around the adhesive area as an axis, part of the sensor chip 8 will come into contact with the edge of the tip wide plate portion 14, stopping the tilt (see Figure 6).

[0031] That is, the sensor chip 8 is stably supported by the sensor chip extractor 10 through two-point support by this contact portion and the adhesive region. The structure of the adhesive portion 20 can be modified as appropriate, and the adhesive portion 20 may be placed directly on the surface of the flat tip wide plate portion 14 without providing the adhesive portion recess 15.

[0032] However, in order to stably support the sensor chip 8 by two-point support as described above, it is desirable to set the adhesive portion 20 back from the outer edge of the tip wide plate portion 14 by 1 mm or more.

[0033] If the protruding height of the convex adhesive portion 20 from the surface of the tip wide plate portion 14 is too low, the adhesive portion 20 becomes nearly flat, which may make it difficult to adhere to the sensor chip 8 or to peel off the sensor chip 8 adhered to the adhesive portion 20. Conversely, if the protruding height of the adhesive portion 20 is too high, the adhesive portion 20 may easily adhere to other objects, which may cause the adhesive portion 20 to inadvertently adhere to the sensor chip 8 inside the storage container 2 or the contact portion 20 to adhere to the floor when the sensor chip extractor 10 is placed on the floor.

[0034] Therefore, the height of the adhesive portion 20 protruding from the surface of the tip wide plate portion 14 is preferably 0.3 to 1.2 mm, and more preferably 0.35 to 0.8 mm. In this embodiment, the height of the adhesive portion 20 protruding from the surface of the tip wide plate portion 14 is 0.5 mm.

[0035] The handle 30 is about 7 to 8 times the width of the stick body 11 and about the width of a thumb, and is shaped like a curved plate with indentations on both sides so that it can be easily held with two fingers. As shown in Figure 6, the user can, for example, hold the handle 30 between their thumb and index finger to lift the sensor chip extractor 10. Of course, the user can hold the handle 30 with two fingers, not just the thumb and index finger.

[0036] A first gripping recess 31, which is a large recess (about the width of the thumb) for inserting the thumb, is formed on one side (first surface side) of the handle portion 30, and a second gripping recess 32, which is a small recess (about the width of the index finger) for inserting other fingers (such as the index finger), is formed on the other side (second surface side). The second gripping recess 32 is slightly smaller than the first gripping recess 31.

[0037] The gripping recesses 31, 32 each have a width approximately the size of a finger and are generally rectangular in shape with a circular arc-shaped tip in plan view (see Figures 1 and 2, etc.). In this embodiment, a through-hole 35 is formed in the center of the gripping recesses 31, 32 so that the first gripping recess 31 and the second gripping recess 32 are connected and pass through the handle portion 30.

[0038] The first gripping recess 31, which has a certain depth and a through hole 35 formed therein, has side walls surrounding this recess, namely, a first tip-side side wall 31a extending in the width direction at the tip side, and a first proximal side wall 31b extending in the width direction at the proximal side.

[0039] In this way, by providing side walls 31a, 31b on the tip side and the handle side of the first gripping recess 31, it is possible to prevent the thumb gripping the first gripping recess 31 from slipping out of the recess 31, and also to easily identify the location of the handle portion 30 to grip with the thumb.

[0040] Similarly, the second gripping recess 32, which has a certain depth, has a second tip-side side wall 32a located on the tip side and a second hand-side side wall 32b located on the hand-side, which prevents the index finger or other finger gripping the second gripping recess 32 from slipping out of the recess 32 and makes it easy to identify the location on the handle portion 30 to grip with the index finger or other finger.

[0041] As shown in Figure 3, the width of the handle portion 30, which is perpendicular to the central axis of the stick body 11, i.e., the width of the handle portion 30, is inclined so as to narrow from the first surface side toward the second surface side (from top to bottom in the figure), and both side surfaces of the handle portion 30 in the width direction form rounded surfaces 33.

[0042] When the sensor chip removal tool 10 is stored in the storage container 2, this R surface 33 comes into contact with the inner wall surface of the large diameter entrance portion 2a of the cylindrical storage container 2, allowing the handle portion 30 to move to one side of the large diameter entrance portion 2a (see Figures 1, 7, etc.).

[0043] Note that Figure 7 shows the state in which the sensor chip removal tool 10 and multiple sensor chips 8 are stored in the storage container 2, with the lid 3 open and the storage container 2 laid on its side, and the handle portion 30 of the sensor chip removal tool 10 is hanging downward due to its own weight.

[0044] In this way, when the handle portion 30 is positioned to one side of the large diameter entrance portion 2a, a larger space is created on the first surface side of the handle portion 30 compared to when the handle portion 30 is positioned in the middle of the large diameter entrance portion 2a, and the user can insert their thumb and easily grasp the first gripping recess 31.

[0045] Furthermore, as described above, in this embodiment, the center of gravity G of sensor chip extractor 10 is configured to be located at a position shifted toward the second surface side from the central axis of stick body 11. This is because handle portion 30 is positioned offset toward the second surface side (lower side in FIG. 4 ) from the central axis of stick body 11.

[0046] In this way, by configuring the center of gravity G of the sensor chip extraction device 10 to be shifted to one side from the axis of the stick body 11, it is possible to control to some extent the posture of the sensor chip extraction device 10 stored in the storage container 2 to the desired posture.

[0047] Normally, the sensor chip extractor 10 is stored together with the sensor chip 8 in the storage container 2, and when measuring a blood glucose level, the user picks up the storage container 2, opens the lid 3, and then takes out the sensor chip extractor 10 by pinching the handle 30 with their fingers.

[0048] Here, sensor chip extractor 10 stored in storage container 2 in an upright position has handle 30 located at large-diameter entrance portion 2a with a width smaller than the inner diameter of the entrance of most of large-diameter entrance portion 2a, and can rotate around stick body 11 as an axis within storage container 2. At this time, because the side surface of handle 30 is rounded 33, it can rotate smoothly while in contact with the inner wall surface of large-diameter entrance portion 2a.

[0049] If storage container 2 is turned on its side or tilted, sensor chip extractor 10 will try to change its position so that its center of gravity G is positioned as low as possible. In other words, sensor chip extractor 10 is likely to assume a position in storage container 2 with the second surface side, where the center of gravity is located, facing downward and first gripping recess 31 for the thumb facing upward, as shown in FIG.

[0050] When the sensor chip extractor 10 is positioned in this manner, a relatively large space is created on the first surface side, making it easier for the user to grasp the handle 30. In order to effectively control the position of the sensor chip extractor 10, it is desirable to position the handle 30 so that 80% or more of its volume is positioned closer to the second surface side than the central axis of the stick body 11.

[0051] Having described the configuration of the sensor chip storage device 1 above, we next describe how to use the sensor chip storage device 1. The sensor chips 8 are stored in a storage container 2 in a number of units, for example, 30, and are supplied to the user of the blood glucose meter.

[0052] In this embodiment, a case will be described in which the sensor chip extractor 10 is stored in the storage container 2 together with the sensor chip 8 (see FIGS. 1 and 7). Of course, the sensor chip extractor 10 may also be stored outside the storage container 2.

[0053] Each time the user measures the blood glucose level, he or she uses the sensor chip remover 10 to remove one sensor chip 8 from the storage container 2, sets it in the blood glucose meter, and measures the blood glucose level. Once used, the sensor chip 8 is discarded, and a new sensor chip 8 must be used for the next measurement.

[0054] A user wishing to remove the sensor chip 8 opens the lid 3 of the storage container 2 as shown in Figure 7, and as shown in Figure 8, pinches the handle 30 with the fingers (usually the thumb and index finger) and removes the sensor chip removal tool 10 from the container.

[0055] At this time, by turning the storage container 2 sideways or at an angle, the user can easily position the handle 30 with the second surface side facing downwards and the rounded surface 33 in contact with the inner wall surface of the storage container 2 (see FIG. 7 ), as described above. In this position, the user can easily grip the handle 30 by inserting their thumb into the relatively large space on the first surface side.

[0056] The user holds the sensor chip extractor 10 by pinching it, moves the sensor chip extractor 10, adheres the adhesive portion 20 to the desired sensor chip 8, and then lifts up and removes the sensor chip 8 from the storage container 2 (see Figure 8).

[0057] When the adhesive portion 20 is to be stuck, the container 2 is tilted so that the inside of the container 2 can be seen clearly, and only the stick body 11 is inserted into the container 2.

[0058] At this time, the user needs to face the side of the stick body 11 on which the adhesive part 20 is installed downwards and attach the adhesive part 20 to the sensor chip 8 inside the storage container 2, but if the adhesive part 20 is on the bottom side, the user cannot directly see the adhesive part 20. This makes it difficult for the user to determine the position of the adhesive part 20, and it is not easy to attach the adhesive part 20 accurately to the desired sensor chip 8.

[0059] In this embodiment, the adhesive portion 20 is located in the center of the wide tip plate portion 14 at the tip of the stick body 11, so that the user can perform the adhesive work relatively easily by using the wide tip plate portion 14, which is easy to see even inside the storage container 2, as a landmark.

[0060] After removing sensor chip 8, the user can detach sensor chip 8 from adhesive portion 20, set it in the blood glucose meter, and continue measuring the blood glucose level. After that, the user places sensor chip remover 10, from which sensor chip 8 has been removed, in storage container 2 with the tip side facing inward and closes the lid, completing the series of operations.

[0061] This embodiment has been described in detail above. According to this embodiment, the user can easily and securely grasp the sensor chip removal tool 10, and since the adhesive portion 20 has a convex shape, the adhesively supported sensor chip 8 can be easily removed, so the user can easily remove the sensor chips 8 stored in the storage container 2 one by one.

[0062] Furthermore, in this embodiment, sensor chip remover 10 can be removed and sensor chip 8 can also be removed simply by pinching handle 30 located at large-diameter entrance 2a of storage container 2 with the fingers. In other words, there is no need for the user to insert their fingers into storage container 2 deeper than large-diameter entrance 2a, which significantly reduces the risk of contamination of sensor chip 8 stored in storage container 2 by touching it with their fingers.

[0063] Next, a modification of this embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 9. This modification is characterized in that the configurations of the stick body 11' and adhesive part 20' are different from those of the above embodiment.

[0064] In the above embodiment, adhesive placed in the adhesive recess 15 was used as the adhesive portion 20, but in the sensor chip extractor 10' of this modified example, double-sided tape attached to the adhesive protrusion 16 placed in the central part of the tip wide plate portion 14' is used as the adhesive portion 20'.

[0065] In this modified example, an inclined surface 17 is formed in which the stick body 11' becomes thicker from the proximal end of the adhesive portion 20' toward the proximal side. The inclined upper end 17a, which is the peak of the inclined surface 17, is formed in a position slightly closer to the proximal side than the proximal end of the tip wide plate portion 14', and forms an inversely tapered surface from the inclined upper end 17a toward the proximal side. The inclined upper end 17a is located at a position higher than the protruding height of the adhesive portion 20'.

[0066] This modified example achieves the same effects as the above embodiment, and since the adhesive portion 20' can be formed simply by attaching double-sided tape of a constant thickness, the area of the adhesive portion 20' can be easily controlled and manufacturing can be easily carried out.

[0067] Furthermore, since an inclined upper end 17a that is higher than the adhesive portion 20' is formed on the proximal side of the adhesive portion 20', it is possible to prevent the sensor chip 8 from accidentally sticking to the adhesive portion 20' when the sensor chip 8 and the sensor chip extractor 10' are stored together in the storage container 2.

[0068] Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described above, including modified examples, the embodiments of the present invention are not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various modifications are possible within the scope of the gist of the present invention. For example, the shape, size, material, etc. of each component constituting the sensor chip storage device can be modified as appropriate.
