[0056] Reference will now be made in detail to some embodiments of the present disclosure, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. To facilitate understanding, embodiments are provided under specific network architecture and service scenarios, such as 3GPP long-term evolution (LTE) and LTE advanced, 3GPP 5G new radio (NR) , 5G-Advanced, 6G, and so on. It is contemplated that along with developments of network architectures and  new service scenarios, all embodiments in the present disclosure are also applicable to similar technical problems; and moreover, the terminologies recited in the present disclosure may change, which should not affect the principle of the present disclosure.

[0057] Aspects of the present disclosure are described in the context of a wireless communications system.

[0058] Figure 1 illustrates an example of a wireless communications system 100 in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The wireless communications system 100 may include one or more network equipments (NEs) (e.g., BSs) 102, one or more UEs 104, and a CN 106. The wireless communications system 100 may support various radio access technologies. In some implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a 4G network, such as an LTE network or an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network. In some other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be an NR network, such as a 5G network, a 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network, or a 5G ultrawideband (5G-UWB) network. In other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technology (RAT) including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi) , IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) , IEEE 802.20. The wireless communications system 100 may support radio access technologies beyond 5G, for example, 6G. Additionally, the wireless communications system 100 may support technologies, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) , frequency division multiple access (FDMA) , or code division multiple access (CDMA) , etc.

[0059] The one or more NEs 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region to form the wireless communications system 100. One or more of the NEs 102 described herein may be or include or may be referred to as a network node, a base station, a network element, a network function, a network entity, a RAN, a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB (gNB) , or other suitable terminology. An NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate via a communication link, which may be a wireless or wired connection. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signaling, transmit signaling) over a Uu interface.

[0060] An NE 102 may provide a geographic coverage area for which the NE 102 may support services for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. ) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, an NE 102 may be moveable, for example, a satellite associated with an NTN. In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas may be associated with different NEs 102.

[0061] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communications system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a subscriber device, a transmitter device, a receiver device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device, an Internet-of-Everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples.

[0062] A UE 104 may be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0063] An NE 102 may support communications with the CN 106, or with another NE 102, or both. For example, an NE 102 may interface with other NE 102 or the CN 106 through one or more backhaul links (e.g., S1, N2, N2, or network interface) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 may communicate with each other directly. In some other implementations, the NEs 102 may communicate with each other indirectly (e.g., via the CN 106) . In some implementations, one or more NEs 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may  communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0064] The CN 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The CN 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an AMF) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more NEs 102 associated with the CN 106.

[0065] The CN 106 may communicate with a packet data network over one or more backhaul links (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the CN 106 via an NE 102. The CN 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the CN 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the CN 106) .

[0066] In the wireless communications system 100, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104  may support various frame structures (e.g., multiple frame structures) . The NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0067] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.

[0068] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0069] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (e.g., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a  numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0070] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0071] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ=1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0072] Referring to Figure 1, an NE 102 may be a satellite associated with the NTN, which may include low earth orbiting (LEO) satellites orbiting around the Earth, medium earth orbiting (MEO) satellites, geostationary earth orbiting (GEO) satellites with fixed location to the Earth,  as well as highly elliptical orbiting (HEO) satellites. The NE 102 provides a cell for serving UEs 104 located in the cell.

[0073] Figure 2 illustrates an exemplary cell including a plurality of geographical areas in an NTN in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure.

[0074] Referring to Figure 2, the cell in the NTN may include 19 geographical areas, wherein each geographical area is associated with an index, e.g., #1, #2, …, or #19. The 19 geographical areas may have an identical cell ID or separate cell IDs. In some cases, a narrow beam may be used for a single geographical area. In some cases, a wide beam may be used for multiple geographical areas.

[0075] Different satellites may be configured with different parameters, for example, for LEO satellites with an altitude of 600 km, three sets of parameters, Set 1-1, Set 1-2 and Set 1-3, are listed as follows:

[0076] Table 1: LEO 600 km Set 1-2 FR1 (i.e., S-band)

[0077] Table 2: LEO 600 km Set 1-2 FR1 (i.e., S-band)

[0078] Table 3: LEO 600 km Set 1-3 FR1 (i.e., S-band)

[0079] For Set 1-1 or Set 1-3, the coverage ratio can be improved from 10%to 100%if the SSB periodicity is increased from 20 ms to 80 ms and beam hopping is applied. For Set 1-2, the coverage ratio can be improved from 1.5%to 96.8%if the SSB periodicity is increased from  20 ms to 320 ms and beam hopping is applied.

[0080] Alternatively, for Set 1-1, Set 1-2 and Set 1-3, the coverage ratio can be improved from 1.5%to 100%using the legacy default SSB periodicity of 20 ms during initial access, by choosing a wide beam footprint with beam footprint sizes of 84 km and 56 km respectively.

[0081] That is, the adoption of wide beams for SSB is one of the solutions in NTN to increase the coverage ratio, which may be used to support a large number of beams of a satellite. However, the details regarding wide beam implementations in NTN have not been discussed yet.

[0082] Given the above, embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions for wide beam implementations in an NTN. For example, embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions regarding to the adoption of the wide beam and narrow beam, the association between SSB / CSI-RS and wide beam / narrow beam / geographical area, the time domain resource allocation for wide beam and narrow beam, or impact to uplink power control, RRM measurement, or handover caused by introducing wide beam and narrow beam. More details will be described in the following text in combination with the appended drawings.

[0083] According to some embodiments of the present application, a network node (e.g., NE 102 in Figure 1) may transmit, to a UE (e.g., UE 104 in Figure 1) , first signaling indicating at least one transmission power of the network node. For example, the first signaling may indicate at least one of: a beam forming gain, an antenna gain or a weighing vector associated with each transmission power. Each transmission power may be associated with a beam.

[0084] In some examples, the at least one transmission power may include a first transmission power associated with one or multiple geographical areas. In some examples, the at least one transmission power may additionally include other transmission power (s) , wherein each of the other transmission power (s) is associated with a corresponding geographical area of the one or multiple geographical areas. In other words, the first transmission power may be associated with a wide beam used in the one or multiple geographical areas, and each of the other transmission power (s) may be associated with a narrow beam used in a corresponding geographical area. In an example, the first signaling may indicate a number of the one or multiple geographical areas.

[0085] In some other examples, each of the at least one transmission power may be associated with a corresponding geographical area of one or multiple geographical areas. That is, each of the at least one transmission power may be associated with a narrow beam used in a corresponding geographical area. In an example, the first signaling may indicate a number of the one or multiple geographical areas.

[0086] Consequently, the UE may receive the first signaling from the network node. For the UE, the at least one transmission power of the network node indicated by the first signaling may correspond to at least one reception power of the UE. That is, the first sigaling may indicate the at least one reception power of the UE. For example, the first signaling may indicate at least one of: a beam forming gain, an antenna gain or a weighing vector associated with each reception power. Each reception power may be associated with a beam.

[0087] In some examples, the at least one reception power may include a first reception power associated with one or multiple geographical areas. In some examples, the at least one reception power may additionally include other reception power (s) , wherein each of the other reception power (s) is associated with a corresponding geographical area of the one or multiple geographical areas. In other words, the first reception power may be associated with a wide beam used in the one or multiple geographical areas, and each of the other reception power (s) may be associated with a narrow beam used in a corresponding geographical area. In an example, the first signaling may indicate a number of the one or multiple geographical areas.

[0088] In some other examples, each of the at least one reception power may be associated with a corresponding geographical area of one or multiple geographical areas. That is, each of the at least one reception power may be associated with a narrow beam used in a corresponding geographical area. In an example, the first signaling may indicate a number of the one or multiple geographical areas.

[0089] Referring back to Figure 2, each of the geographical areas #2, #3, and #10 may be associated with a different narrow beam, and the geographical areas #2, #3, and #10 may be associated with a single wide beam. Similarly, each of the geographical areas #4, #5, and #14 may be associated with another different narrow beam, and the geographical areas #4, #5, and #14 may be associated with another single wide beam. Each of the geographical areas #7, #8,  and #19 may be associated with further another different narrow beam, and the geographical areas #7, #8, and #19 may be associated with further another single wide beam.

[0090] As an example, the first signaling may indicate four reception powers (or four beams) associated with geographical areas #2, #3, and #10, wherein the four reception powers (or four beams) may include one reception power (or a wide beam) associated with a combination of geographical areas #2, #3, and #10, and three reception powers (or narrow beams) associated with geographical areas #2, #3, and #10, respectively.

[0091] As an example, to decrease broadcast channel signaling overhead, SSB (or system information) may be transmitted in a wide beam while data may be transmitted or received in a narrow beam. In such example, SSB may be used for wide beam identification, which is associated with one or multiple geographical areas. CSI-RS may be used for narrow beam identification, which is associated with a corresponding geographical area. Accordingly, the first signaling may indicate a first transmission power (from the network node's perspective) or a first reception power (from the UE's perspective) associated with SSB and other transmission power (s) (from the network node's perspective) or reception power (s) (from the UE's perspective) associated with CSI-RS.

[0092] Each transmission or reception power indicated by the first signaling may be allocated with a corresponding active time domain duration or alternatively associated with a corresponding on-duration. The corresponding active time domain duration or on-duration associated with each transmission or reception power may be configured to the UE or be predefined. The terms "active time domain duration" and "on-duration" may be interchangeable. In an example, a UE can detect SSB or receive system information in an active time domain duration or on-duration, which is associated with SSB or system information. In another example, the UE can transmit or receive data in another active time domain duration or on-duration, which is associated with CSI-RS.

[0093] For example, the network node may transmit, to the UE, second signaling indicating at least one active time domain duration, wherein each active time domain duration is associated with a corresponding transmission power of the at least one transmission power indicated by the first signaling.

[0094] Consequently, the UE may receive the second signaling from the network node. For the UE, each active time domain duration indicated by the second signaling is associated with a corresponding reception power of the at least one reception power indicated by the first signaling. In other words, each active time domain duration may be associated with a corresponding beam.

[0095] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the at least one active time domain duration may be within a time period, and the time period is periodic in time domain.

[0096] As an example, the time period may be determined based on a periodicity of SSB.

[0097] As another example, the time period may be configured, e.g. by the second signaling.

[0098] The following embodiments provide several solutions for determining the at least one active time domain duration in the time period.

[0099] In some embodiments, the second signaling may indicate a length of each of the at least one active time domain duration including or not including a last active time domain duration in the time period. In the case that the second signaling does not indicate the length of the last active time domain duration, the length of the last active time domain duration may be the remaining time of the time period after taking other active time domain durations into account.

[0100] Figure 3 illustrates an exemplary time domain resource allocation for at least one transmission power (from the network node's perspective) or reception power (from the UE's perspective) in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure.

[0101] In the example illustrated in Figure 3, it is assumed that a first transmission or reception power of the at least one transmission or reception power is associated with a wide beam, and each of other transmission or reception power (s) is associated with a narrow beam. "Duration for wide beam" may refer to the active time domain duration associated with the first transmission or reception power, and "duration for narrow beam" may refer to the active time domain duration associated with one of the other transmission or reception power (s) .

[0102] Figure 3 illustrates a wide beam associated with multiple geographical areas (e.g., a wide beam associated with geographical areas #2, #3, and #10 in Figure 2, or another wide beam  associated with geographical areas #7, #8, and #19 in Figure 2) , and narrow beams associated with individual geographical areas (e.g., narrow beams associated with geographical areas #2, #3, #7, #8, #10, and #19 in Figure 2, respectively) .

[0103] The wide beam associated with geographical areas #2, #3, and #10 may be used for transmitting SSB #1, and the narrow beams respectively associated with geographical areas #2, #3, and #10 may be used for transmitting CSI-RS #1, #2, and #3, respectively.

[0104] The wide beam associated with geographical areas #7, #8, and #19 may be used for transmitting SSB #2, and the narrow beams respectively associated with geographical areas #7, #8, and #19 may be used for transmitting CSI-RS #4, #5, and #6, respectively.

[0105] Taking geographical areas #2, #3, and #10 as an example, the second signaling may indicate four active time domain durations. The four active time domain durations may be within a first time period. For example, the first time period may be the same as a periodicity of the SSB. The second signaling may indicate the length of the active time domain duration for the wide beam for a combination of geographical areas #2, #3, and #10, the length of the active time domain duration for the narrow beam for geographical area #2, and the length of the active time domain duration for the narrow beam for geographical area #3. The second signaling may also indicate the length of the active time domain duration for the narrow beam for geographical area #10. Alternatively, the second signaling may not indicate the length of the active time domain duration for the narrow beam for geographical area #10, and the length of the active time domain duration for the narrow beam for geographical area #10 may be determined to be the remaining time in the first time period.

[0106] The similar method may be applied for determining four active time domain durations for geographical areas #7, #8, and #19. Thus, details are omitted for simplicity.

[0107] In some embodiments, the at least one active time domain duration indicated by the second signaling may be specified or predefined to be evenly distributed in the time period. Then, the length of each active time domain duration is determined based on the length of the time period and the number of the at least one active time domain duration.

[0108] For example, referring again to Figure 3, if the first time period (e.g., from the starting position of SSB #1 to the starting position of SSB #2) is 40 ms, for even distribution,  each of the length of the active time domain duration for the wide beam and the length of the active time domain duration for each narrow beam in the first time period is 10 ms.

[0109] In some embodiments, a length of a first active time domain duration of the at least one active time domain duration may be indicated by the second signaling or predefined and other active time domain duration (s) may be specified or predefined to be evenly distributed in remaining time of the time period. As an example, the first active time domain duration is associated with a wide beam, and each of the other active time domain duration (s) is associated with a narrow beam.

[0110] For example, referring again to Figure 3, if the first time period (e.g., from the starting position of SSB #1 to the starting position of SSB #2) is 40 ms and the length of the first active time domain duration for the wide beam is 16 ms, then the length of each of the other active time domain durations for the narrow beams in the first time period is 8 ms.

[0111] In some embodiments, the second signaling may indicate a corresponding ratio for each active time domain duration in the time period. Then, the length of each active time domain duration is determined based on the length of the time period and each corresponding ratio.

[0112] For example, referring again to Figure 3, if the first time period (e.g., from the starting position of SSB #1 to the starting position of SSB #2) is 40 ms and the ratios for the four active time domain durations in the first time period are configured as 4: 2: 2: 2. Then, the lengths of the four active time domain durations are 16 ms, 8 ms, 8 ms, and 8 ms, respectively.

[0113] In some embodiments, the network node or the UE may determine a starting position of each active time domain duration in the time period based on a detection of a reference signal within the active time domain duration. For example, the reference signal may be an SSB or a CSI-RS.

[0114] For example, referring again to Figure 3, if SSB #1 is detected in slot #0, CSI-RS #1 is detected in slot #3, CSI-RS #2 is detected in slot #10, CSI-RS #3 is detected in slot #18, and SSB #2 is detected in slot #40, then the active time domain duration for the wide beam may be slot #0 to slot #2, the active time domain duration for the narrow beam associated with CSI-RS #1 may be slot #3 to slot #9, the active time domain duration for the narrow beam associated  with CSI-RS #2 may be slot #10 to slot #17, and the active time domain duration for the narrow beam associated with CSI-RS #3 may be slot #18 to slot #39.

[0115] In some examples, if there are a plurality of reference signals within an active time domain duration, the network node or the UE may determine a starting position of the active time domain duration based on a first one of the plurality of reference signals in time domain.

[0116] Based on the first signaling and the second signaling, the network node or the UE may determine an active time domain duration from the at least one active time domain duration. For example, the determined active time domain duration may be for a geographical area where the UE locates.

[0117] According to some embodiments of the present application, an SSB associated with a wide beam may be associated with one or more CSI-RS resources, wherein the CSI-RS resources are associated with one or more geographical areas within the coverage of the wide beam.

[0118] In some embodiments, the one or more CSI-RS resources associated with the SSB may be configured to the UE or predefined. For example, the network node may transmit, to the UE, signaling indicating one or more CSI-RS resources associated with an SSB. Consequently, the UE may receive, from the network node, signaling indicating the one or more CSI-RS resources associated with the SSB.

[0119] As an example, the one or more CSI-RS resources may be included in a CSI-RS resource set.

[0120] Each CSI-RS resource may be associated with a geographical area or a narrow beam. The number of the one or more CSI-RS resources may be equal to the number of the one or more geographical areas (i.e., the number of narrow beams) within the coverage of the wide beam for transmitting the SSB.

[0121] In some examples, an index of a CSI-RS resource may be the same as a local ID of a narrow beam or a geographical area associated with the CSI-RS resource. A "local ID" may refer to an ID of a geographical area in the range of the one or more geographical areas within the coverage of the wide beam for transmitting the SSB. Correspondingly, a "global ID" may  refer to an ID of a geographical area in a larger range including the one or more geographical areas, e.g., in the range of the whole cell including the one or more geographical areas.

[0122] For example, assuming that there are CSI-RS resources #0, #1, and #2 associated with an SSB, then the local ID of a geographical area associated with CSI-RS resource #0 is 0, the local ID of a geographical area associated with CSI-RS resource #1 is 1, and the local ID of a geographical area associated with CSI-RS resource #2 is 2.

[0123] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the network node may transmit third signaling to the UE. Consequently, the UE may receive the third signaling from the network node.

[0124] In some embodiments, the third signaling may indicate an SSB associated with one active time domain duration of at least one active time domain duration (e.g., the at least one active time domain duration indicated by the second signaling) . In an embodiment, the third signaling may also indicate one or more CSI-RS resources associated with the remaining active time domain duration (s) of the at least one active time domain duration, wherein each of the one or more CSI-RS resources may be associated with a corresponding active time domain duration of the remaining active time domain duration (s) .

[0125] In some embodiments, the third signaling may indicate at least one CSI-RS resource associated with at least one active time domain duration (e.g., the at least one active time domain duration indicated by the second signaling) , wherein each of the at least one CSI-RS resource may be associated with a corresponding active time domain duration of the at least one active time domain duration.

[0126] For the time or frequency domain position of each CSI-RS resource, legacy configurations for the symbol index (es) or resource element (RE) index (es) may be reused.

[0127] The time domain position in slot level for each CSI-RS resource may be configured differently from legacy. In some embodiments, a time domain position for an SSB or a CSI-RS resource may be determined based on a starting position of an active time domain duration associated with the SSB or the CSI-RS resource.

[0128] For example, if the configured slot index for CSI-RS resource #0 is 1, and the active time domain duration associated with CSI-RS resource #0 starts from slot #10, then the CSI-RS resource (or CSI-RS) is in slot #11.

[0129] In some embodiments, an SSB or a CSI-RS is valid only if it is within an active time domain duration associated with the SSB or the CSI-RS.

[0130] For example, assuming that periodic CSI-RS is configured, CSI-RS resource #0 is configured with a periodicity = 4 slots, and offset =1 slot. Moreover, the active time domain duration associated with CSI-RS resource #0 is from slot #10 to slot #19. Then, valid CSI-RS may be located at slot #11, slot #15, and slot #19.

[0131] As mentioned above, each CSI-RS resource may be associated with a geographical area. In some embodiments, an ID (e.g., global ID) of the geographical area may be determined based on an index or a time domain position of an SSB associated with the CSI-RS resource and an index or a time domain position of the CSI-RS resource.

[0132] For example, assuming that there are at most K CSI-RS resources (or geographical areas) associated with each SSB, for a CSI-RS resource which is associated with an SSB with an index of idSSB and has an index of idCSI-RS, an ID of a geographical area associated with the CSI-RS resource may be determined to be idSSB*K + idCSI-RS. It is contemplated that other mapping relationship between IDs of geographical areas and indexes of SSBs and / or CSI-RS resources may be applied without departing from the spirit of the present disclosure.

[0133] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the aforementioned first signaling, second signaling or third signaling may be transmitted by the network node or received by the UE in the active time domain duration associated with the SSB.

[0134] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the aforementioned first signaling, second signaling or third signaling may be broadcast signaling (e.g., system information) or group common DCI.

[0135] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the network node or the UE may determine, based on the first signaling and the second signaling, a reception power for an active time domain duration, or a transmission power for the active time domain duration.  For example, the active time domain duration may be associated with a geographical area where the UE locates.

[0136] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the network node may transmit, to the UE, fourth signaling indicating a power offset between SSB and CSI-RS. Consequently, the UE may receive the fourth signaling from the network node. Based on the fourth signaling, the UE may derive the parameters associated with downlink reception and uplink transmission for different active time domain durations. In an embodiment, the uplink transmission power for the active time domain duration may be determined based on the downlink reception power. The network node may determine the parameters associated with downlink transmission and uplink reception for different active time domain durations similarly. For example, the reception power or the transmission power for the active time domain duration may be determined based on the power offset.

[0137] In an embodiment, the reception power or the transmission power for the active time domain duration may be determined based on a type of a reference signal associated with the active time domain duration (e.g., whether an SSB or a CSI-RS resource is associated with the active time domain duration) , or an index of a CSI-RS resource associated with the active time domain duration.

[0138] As an example, the fourth signaling may indicate a common power offset between SSB and CSI-RS for all CSI-RS resource (s) associated with a same SSB. In such example, the reception power or the transmission power for the active time domain duration is determined based on the common power offset and whether an SSB or a CSI-RS resource is associated with the active time domain duration.

[0139] As an example, the power offset may be configured per CSI-RS resource. In such example, the fourth signaling may indicate a corresponding power offset between SSB and CSI-RS for each CSI-RS resource associated with a same SSB, and then different parameters for downlink reception and uplink transmission may be used in different active time domain durations associated with different CSI-RS resources. For example, the reception power or the transmission power for the active time domain duration may be determined based on a power offset between SSB and CSI-RS for a CSI-RS resource associated with the active time domain  duration, which may depend on an index of the CSI-RS resource associated with the active time domain duration.

[0140] To support the UE's mobility between different geographical areas, the UE may perform RRM measurement (s) for neighboring geographical area (s) and report measurement results to the network node.

[0141] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may receive, from the network node, signaling (e.g., radio resource control (RRC) signaling) indicating at least one of: time and / or frequency resources for SSB, or resources (e.g., time and / or frequency resources and / or sequence ID (s) ) for at least one CSI-RS resource associated with at least one geographical area (or at least one narrow beam) .

[0142] Based on the signaling, the UE may perform an RRM measurement for a geographical area associated with a CSI-RS resource. The UE may report, to the network node, a measurement result of the RRM measurement and an ID of the geographical area. The measurement result of the RRM measurement may include at least one of: reference signal receiving power (RSRP) , reference signal receiving quality (RSRQ) , received signal strength indication (RSSI) , or Layer 1 signal to interference plus noise ratio (L1-SINR) . The ID of the geographical area may be one of:

[0143] · an index of the CSI-RS resource;

[0144] · a local ID of the geographical area, e.g., which is the same as the index of the CSI-RS resource;

[0145] · a global ID of the geographical area; or

[0146] · an ID determined based on an index or a time domain position of the SSB and an index or a time domain position of the CSI-RS resource.

[0147] The network node may receive the measurement result of the RRM measurement and the ID of the geographical area. In some cases, the network node may transmit, to the UE, a switching command indicating the ID of the geographical area, indicating the UE to switch to the geographical area (e.g., to use the narrow beam associated with the geographical area) .

[0148] Figure 4 illustrates a flowchart of an exemplary method in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method illustrated in Figure 4 may be performed by a UE (e.g., UE 104 in Figure 1) as described herein or other apparatus with the like functions. In some implementations, the UE may execute a set of instructions to control functional elements of the UE to perform the described operations or functions.

[0149] At step 402, the UE may receive first signaling indicating at least one reception power.

[0150] At step 404, the UE may receive second signaling indicating at least one active time domain duration, wherein each active time domain duration is associated with a corresponding reception power of the at least one reception power.

[0151] At step 406, the UE may determine, based on the first signaling and the second signaling, at least one of: an active time domain duration from the at least one active time domain duration, a reception power for the active time domain duration, or a transmission power for the active time domain duration. In some embodiments, the active time domain duration may be for a geographical area. The reception power and the transmission power are from the UE's perspective. That is, the reception power is for receiving a downlink signal from a network node, and the transmission power is for transmitting an uplink signal to the network node.

[0152] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the first signaling may indicate at least one of: a beam forming gain, an antenna gain or a weighing vector associated with each reception power.

[0153] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the at least one reception power may include a first reception power associated with one or multiple geographical areas, and the first signaling indicates a number of the one or multiple geographical areas.

[0154] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the at least one active time domain duration is within a time period, and the time period is periodic in time domain.

[0155] In some embodiments, the second signaling indicates a length of each of the at least one active time domain duration including or not including a last active time domain duration in the time period; the at least one active time domain duration is evenly distributed in the time  period; a length of a first active time domain duration of the at least one active time domain duration is indicated by the second signaling or predefined and other active time domain duration (s) is evenly distributed in remaining time of the time period; or the second signaling indicates a corresponding ratio for each active time domain duration in the time period.

[0156] In some embodiments, the UE may determine a starting position of each active time domain duration in the time period based on a detection of a reference signal.

[0157] In an embodiment, the reference signal may be an SSB or a CSI-RS.

[0158] In an embodiment, in the case that there are a plurality of reference signals within an active time domain duration, the UE may determine a starting position of the active time domain duration based on a first one of the plurality of reference signals in time domain.

[0159] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may receive third signaling indicating an SSB associated with one active time domain duration of the at least one active time domain duration or at least one CSI-RS resource associated with the at least one active time domain duration.

[0160] In some embodiments, the UE may determine a time domain position for the SSB or a CSI-RS resource based on a starting position of an active time domain duration associated with the SSB or the CSI-RS resource.

[0161] In some embodiments, an SSB or a CSI-RS is valid only if it is within an active time domain duration associated with the SSB or the CSI-RS.

[0162] In some embodiments, each CSI-RS resource is associated with a geographical area, and an identity of the geographical area is determined based on an index or a time domain position of the SSB and an index or a time domain position of the CSI-RS resource.

[0163] In some embodiments, the first signaling, the second signaling or the third signaling is received in the active time domain duration associated with the SSB.

[0164] In some embodiments, the first signaling, the second signaling or the third signaling is broadcast signaling or group common DCI.

[0165] In some embodiments, the transmission power for the active time domain duration may be determined based on the reception power for the active time domain duration, whether an SSB or a CSI-RS resource is associated with the active time domain duration, or an index of a CSI-RS resource associated with the active time domain duration.

[0166] In some embodiments, the UE may receive fourth signaling indicating a power offset between SSB and CSI-RS, wherein the reception power or the transmission power for the active time domain duration is determined based on the power offset.

[0167] In an embodiment, each CSI-RS resource may be associated with a corresponding geographical area, and the UE may: perform an RRM measurement for a geographical area associated with a CSI-RS resource; and report a measurement result of the RRM measurement and an ID of the geographical area, wherein the ID of the geographical area is one of: an index of the CSI-RS resource; a local ID of the geographical area; a global ID of the geographical area; or an ID determined based on an index of the SSB and an index of the CSI-RS resource.

[0168] In an embodiment, the UE may receive a switching command indicating the ID of the geographical area.

[0169] It should be noted that the method described herein describes a possible implementation, and that the operations and the steps may be arranged or otherwise modified and that other implementations are possible.

[0170] Figure 5 illustrates a flowchart of an exemplary method in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method illustrated in Figure 5 may be performed by a network node (e.g., a NE 102 in Figure 1) as described herein or other apparatus with the like functions. In some implementations, the network node may execute a set of instructions to control functional elements of the network node to perform the described operations or functions.

[0171] At step 502, the network node may transmit first signaling indicating at least one transmission power.

[0172] At step 504, the network node may transmit second signaling indicating at least one active time domain duration, wherein each active time domain duration is associated with a corresponding transmission power of the at least one transmission power.

[0173] At step 506, the network node may determine, based on the first signaling and the second signaling, at least one of: an active time domain duration from the at least one active time domain duration, a transmission power for the active time domain duration, or a reception power for the active time domain duration. In some embodiments, the active time domain duration may be for a geographical area. The reception power and the transmission power are from the network node's perspective. That is, the reception power is for receiving an uplink signal from a UE, and the transmission power is for transmitting a downlink signal to the UE.

[0174] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the first signaling may indicate at least one of: a beam forming gain, an antenna gain or a weighing vector associated with each transmission power.

[0175] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the at least one transmission power may include a first transmission power associated with one or multiple geographical areas, and the first signaling indicates a number of the one or multiple geographical areas.

[0176] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the at least one active time domain duration is within a time period, and the time period is periodic in time domain.

[0177] In some embodiments, the second signaling indicates a length of each of the at least one active time domain duration including or not including a last active time domain duration in the time period; the at least one active time domain duration is evenly distributed in the time period; a length of a first active time domain duration of the at least one active time domain duration is indicated by the second signaling or predefined and other active time domain duration (s) is evenly distributed in remaining time of the time period; or the second signaling indicates a corresponding ratio for each active time domain duration in the time period.

[0178] In some embodiments, the network node may determine a starting position of each active time domain duration in the time period based on a detection of a reference signal.

[0179] In an embodiment, the reference signal may be an SSB or a CSI-RS.

[0180] In an embodiment, in the case that there are a plurality of reference signals within an active time domain duration, the network node may determine a starting position of the active time domain duration based on a first one of the plurality of reference signals in time domain.

[0181] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the network node may transmit third signaling indicating an SSB associated with one active time domain duration of the at least one active time domain duration or at least one CSI-RS resource associated with the at least one active time domain duration.

[0182] In some embodiments, the network node may determine a time domain position for the SSB or a CSI-RS resource based on a starting position of an active time domain duration associated with the SSB or the CSI-RS resource.

[0183] In some embodiments, an SSB or a CSI-RS is valid only if it is within an active time domain duration associated with the SSB or the CSI-RS.

[0184] In some embodiments, each CSI-RS resource is associated with a geographical area, and an identity of the geographical area is determined based on an index or a time domain position of the SSB and an index or a time domain position of the CSI-RS resource.

[0185] In some embodiments, the first signaling, the second signaling or the third signaling may be transmitted in the active time domain duration associated with the SSB.

[0186] In some embodiments, the first signaling, the second signaling or the third signaling may be broadcast signaling or group common DCI.

[0187] In some embodiments, the transmission power for the active time domain duration may be determined based on the reception power for the active time domain duration, whether an SSB or a CSI-RS resource is associated with the active time domain duration, or an index of a CSI-RS resource associated with the active time domain duration.

[0188] In some embodiments, the network node may transmit fourth signaling indicating a power offset between SSB and CSI-RS, wherein the reception power or the transmission power for the active time domain duration is determined based on the power offset.

[0189] In some embodiments, each CSI-RS resource may be associated with a corresponding geographical area, and the network node may: receive a measurement result of  an RRM measurement for a geographical area associated with a CSI-RS resource and an ID of the geographical area, wherein the ID of the geographical area is one of: an index of the CSI-RS resource; a local ID of the geographical area; a global ID of the geographical area; or an ID determined based on an index of the SSB and an index of the CSI-RS resource.
