Description

[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] AN INJECTOR COVER

[0003] Technical Field

[0004] The present invention relates to an injector cover which is located on the external part of an injector consisting of a syringe and a needle, comprises a body that prevents the needle and syringe from being seen outside and a cap that is removable from the body and preferably has a toy design, and whereby the needle inside the body is taken out by means of a sliding member.

[0005] Background of the Invention

[0006] Since children’s immune systems are more sensitive than those of adults and they contract diseases more easily, vaccines are administered from birth with the purpose of strengthening the immune system of children. Vaccines can be administered intramuscularly, subcutaneously, intradermally or orally. Since vaccines aim to provide immunity against many different diseases, they can be administered as a single dose, multiple doses or in combination. Although vaccination can be administered to any age group, it is most commonly administered during childhood.

[0007] Today, vaccination is a fearful procedure for both family and child. This is because the needle located at the tip of the vaccine represents a painful intervention and children are anxious during the vaccination procedure. These fears usually lead to reluctance in children and their families to have medical procedures such as vaccination and affect the children’s experience of subsequent treatment and care. Furthermore, fear of injections causes the children to experience more pain during the procedure. Trypanophobia (fear of needles) incurred in infants and children gives rise to reluctance for medical procedures such as blood collection, injection and vaccination, delay in treatment and even neglect of treatment. It is stated that in different countries around the world, families give up vaccination in order to avoid the stress experienced during vaccine administration and to prevent their children from getting hurt. For this purpose, the process should be well managed in order to reduce the pain and anxiety of children during painful procedures such as vaccination.

[0008] In general, non-pharmacological (non-drug) methods are used in order to reduce the pain and the anxiety that may occur in children during painful medical procedures. The most frequently used non-pharmacological method utilized during painful medical procedures is distraction method. In order to divert the children’s attention away, processes such as getting them to watch cartoons, blow up balloons, make foam balloons, listen to music, use a kaleidoscope, have their parents talk about topics different from the intervention, watch animations, draw pictures, etc. can be performed during the procedure. Besides, the most common method applied during painful procedures is to have the child play a game. Having the child play a game with materials such as toys etc. during the procedure is quite useful in distracting his / her attention. In addition to the state-of-the-art methods, today there is a need for a solution which can be used to eliminate the fear of painful medical interventions in children; to create a calmer and more enjoyable time for families, children and nurses who administer the vaccine during medical interventions such as vaccine administration; to reduce anxiety and pain during painful procedures and which is also effective, reusable, inexpensive and easily applicable, and easily tolerated by children. On the other hand, since some vaccines included in the vaccination schedule such as the 5-in-l combination vaccine and conjugated pneumococcal vaccine are administered in multiple doses, there is also need for solutions which encourage children to come for vaccination by completing that series by producing figures that complement each other in vaccines with multiple doses.

[0009] The Chinese utility model document no. CN201033196Y, an application included in the state of the art, discloses a vaccination system with a toy located on it. The invention subject to the said Chinese utility model document discloses a disposal toy injecting needle cylinder for children which comprises a needle cylinder body, an annular toy ring clamped at upper end of the needle cylinder body and a toy fixed on the press end of the handspike. The toy ring and the toy are made of silica gel material and can be used by baby. The utility model is able to effectively reduce the dread atmosphere with the toy during injecting for children. Besides, after injection, doctors can draw the doll out from the disposal needle cylinder and give it to children for encouragement; meanwhile, the drawing out of the doll from the needle cylinder can damage the disposal needle cylinder, thus preventing the injector being reuse.

[0010] Summary of the Invention

[0011] An objective of the present invention is to realize an injector cover which aims to eliminate the fear of painful medical interventions in children and create a calmer and more enjoyable time for families, children and the nurses who administer the vaccine during medical interventions such as vaccine administration, and which has a toy-shaped body that is attached to the injector whereby the vaccine is administered and a sliding member that allows the needle to be removed from the body by being located on the body.

[0012] Another objective of the present invention is to realize an injector cover whereby it is ensured that the information about the vaccine is integrated into vaccine followup applications by means of the barcode located on the external part of the injector.

[0013] Detailed Description of the Invention

[0014] “An Injector Cover” realized to fulfd the objectives of the present invention is shown in the figure attached, in which:

[0015] Figure 1 is a view of the inventive injector cover. The components illustrated in the figure are individually numbered, where the numbers refer to the following:

[0016] 1. Injector cover

[0017] 2. Body

[0018] 3. Cap

[0019] 4. Clips

[0020] Syringe: S

[0021] Needle: I

[0022] Plastic tip: P

[0023] The inventive injector cover (1) which aims to eliminate the fear of painful medical interventions in children and create a calmer and more enjoyable time for families, children and the nurses who administer the vaccine during medical interventions such as vaccine administration comprises: at least one body (2) which is located on the external part of the injector consisting of the syringe (S) and the needle (I), comprises at least one cap (3) for preventing the injector from being visible from the outside and allowing the piston section of the syringe to emerge upon being removed; and at least one clips (4) which contacts the emerging syringe (S) from one end thereof upon being removed, is located on the body (2) from the other end thereof, and allows the needle to be taken out of the body (2) upon the person administering the vaccine moves it.

[0024] The body (2) included in the inventive injector cover (1) is made of plastic, involves the injector consisting of the syringe (S) and the needle (I), and makes the syringe (S) piston visible when the cap (3) is removed. The cap (3) is removable from the body (2) and has a toy- shaped design in particular. The cap (3) is taken out of the body (2) so as to be removed from the clips (4). Thereby, the piston becomes visible in the body (2) wherein the injector is located. In another preferred embodiment, the body (2) comprises stickers that can be in different visuals.

[0025] In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the end of the body (2) where the needle (I) exits is hollow. The body (2) is long enough to prevent the syringe (S) and the needle (I) from being visible when not in use. The clips (4) allows the needle (I) to be taken out from the aperture located on the body (2), upon it moves the clips (4) downwards and tries to move the syringe (S) inside the body (2). In one preferred embodiment, the needle (I) exiting the hollow end of the body (2) is protected by means of a plastic tip (P).

[0026] In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the body (2) comprises at least one bell. It is ensured to distract the children’s attention since the bell makes a sound upon the body (2) swings.

[0027] In the inventive injector cover (1), the body (2) includes at least one barcode used for vaccine follow-up, on thereof.

[0028] A syringe case (1) according to the invention comprises at least one barcode on the body (2) for following up the vaccine. The barcode is engraved on the body (2) and is made of a non-removable material. With the barcode information, the information about the vaccine administered to the child is integrated into the vaccine administration follow-up system and e-nabiz application of the Ministry of Health and saved in the records in a complete and error-free way. Thus, the time spent by the nurse who administer the vaccine by entering the system manually is minimized and the disadvantage of losing the vaccination card is eliminated.

[0029] The clips (4) included in the inventive system (1) is located on the body (2) and it is attached to the syringe (S) from one end thereof and extends out of the body (2) from the other end thereof. In this way, the person administering the vaccine moves the clips (4) so that the syringe (S) moves towards the end of the body (2) where the needle (I) is located and the needle (I) comes out of the opening in the body (2). The needle (I) is then visible through the body (2) and the syringe is ready for administration. Thereby, it enables the person who will administer the vaccine to move the clips (4) so that the syringe (S) moves towards the end of the body (2) where the needle (I) is located and the needle (I) is taken out from the aperture in the body (2). Thus, the needle (I) appears by being taken out from the body (2) and the injector gets ready for administration.

[0030] In one preferred embodiment, the clips (4) is slid downwards in a channel included in the body (2) and allows the tip of the needle (I) to be removed from the body (2) and become visible. The clips (4) is attached to the syringe (S) at one end thereof, whereas the body (2) has an easy-to-move structure.

[0031] With the inventive injector cover (1), children’s fear of needles needle (I) is avoided. Thus, the needle (I) is hidden inside the body (2) and becomes visible by moving the clips (5) when it is to be used. Before the needle (I) becomes visible, since the cap (3) is removed from the body (2) and given to the child, the child’s attention is drawn elsewhere at that time. The cap (3), which is removed from the body (2) and given to the child, can be in different cartoon characters that will be used as a toy or stickers in order to attract the attention of the child can be included on the cap (3). Thus, by eliminating the fear of painful medical interventions in children, it is ensured that families, children and nurses who administer the vaccine have a calmer and more fun vaccine administration during medical interventions such as vaccine administration.

[0032] Within these basic concepts; it is possible to develop various embodiments of the inventive “Injector Cover (1)”; the invention cannot be limited to examples disclosed herein and it is essentially according to claims.
