Description

Non-aqueous oral composition

[0001] The present invention relates to non-aqueous oral compositions.

[0002] Non-aqueous oral compositions containing an organic acid and a carbonate as carbon dioxide gas generators can generate carbon dioxide gas when applied to the oral cavity, resulting in a unique effervescent sensation, and various non-aqueous oral compositions have been developed to date.

[0003] For example, Patent Document 1 discloses an oral composition containing a base for a non-aqueous oral composition, baking soda, and an acidic component that is solid at room temperature, and attempts to increase foaming properties while mitigating bitterness, astringency, etc. Patent Document 2 discloses a toothpaste containing an organic acid coated with a coating agent, sodium bicarbonate coated with a coating material, and polyacrylic acid, which aims to suppress the generation of carbon dioxide gas when stored for a long period of time.

[0004] (Patent Document 1) JP 2002-302429 A (Patent Document 2) JP 2022-81908 A

[0005] The present invention provides a non-aqueous oral composition containing the following components (A) to (E): (A) a non-aqueous solvent having a relative dielectric constant of less than 10 at 25°C and a melting point of 0°C or lower, (B) an acid that is solid at 25°C, (C) a carbonate, (D) an oil-based gelling agent, and (E) a sugar alcohol that is solid at 25°C.

[0006] Regardless of the technology described in any of the above patent documents, there is still room for improvement in terms of ensuring a good feel in use in which a pleasant foaming sensation is provided in the oral cavity when applied while suppressing oily sensation, and further in terms of sufficiently preventing the generation of carbon dioxide gas even after storage.

[0007] Therefore, the present invention relates to a non-aqueous oral composition that, when applied to the oral cavity, provides a pleasant foaming sensation and a good usability with reduced oiliness, and can effectively prevent the generation of carbon dioxide gas even after storage.

[0008] After extensive investigation, the present inventors have found that by containing a non-aqueous solvent having a specific dielectric constant, an acid that is solid at 25°C, a carbonate, an oily gelling agent, and a sugar alcohol that is solid at 25°C, it is possible to obtain a non-aqueous oral composition that not only maintains good manufacturing stability while providing a good foaming sensation and feel upon use, but also has excellent storage stability, thereby effectively preventing the generation of carbon dioxide gas even after storage.

[0009] When the non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention is applied to the oral cavity, carbon dioxide gas forms bubbles with a distinctive, pleasant effervescent sensation that pop pleasantly in the oral cavity, while suppressing any unpleasant oily sensation, providing a refreshing, invigorating sensation even after use. Furthermore, the non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention exhibits excellent storage stability while maintaining good shape retention and manufacturing stability, and effectively prevents carbon dioxide gas generation even after storage, thereby preventing unnecessary swelling of the container filled with the composition during storage.

[0010] In the evaluation of storage stability, photographs of the containers after storage, which were taken from the side while standing upright, are shown in Fig. 1(a) for Example 1, Fig. 1(b) for Comparative Example 1, and Fig. 1(c) for Comparative Example 2. Detailed Description of the Invention

[0011] The present invention will be described in detail below. In the present invention, the term "non-aqueous oral composition" refers to a composition that does not contain water as an ingredient and that is substantially free of water except when unavoidably mixed. "Substantially free of water" means that the moisture content of the oral composition is preferably less than 2% by mass, more preferably less than 1% by mass. Furthermore, the term "good effervescence" refers to the fact that, when applied to the oral cavity, the acid and carbonate that are solid at 25°C and contained as carbon dioxide gas generators in the non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention react with the moisture in saliva to generate carbon dioxide gas, which then disperses in the oral cavity as bubbles with a distinctively pleasant effervescence, popping pleasantly and providing a refreshing feel. Furthermore, the term "good usability" refers to a feeling that suppresses unpleasant oiliness and does not impair flavor when applied to the oral cavity. Therefore, the "refreshing feeling" provided by the non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention is a general term for the excellent feeling in the oral cavity, which includes not only the good "foaming feeling" and "feel of use" when applied to the oral cavity, but also the "refreshing feeling" that is felt even after application in addition to these feelings.

[0012] The nonaqueous oral composition of the present invention contains, as component (A), a nonaqueous solvent having a dielectric constant of less than 10 at 25°C and a melting point of 0°C or lower. The nonaqueous oral composition of the present invention contains, as carbon dioxide gas generators, component (B), a solid acid at 25°C (described below), and component (C), a carbonate salt. The presence of component (A) effectively prevents unnecessary carbon dioxide gas generation during production, storage, or before use, significantly contributing to ensuring excellent storage stability while maintaining good production stability. Furthermore, when the nonaqueous oral composition of the present invention is applied to the oral cavity, contact with saliva or the like causes a reaction between component (B) and component (C), generating carbon dioxide gas bubbles that provide a unique, pleasant effervescence in the oral cavity. These bubbles then diffuse throughout the oral cavity, pleasantly popping and providing a refreshing sensation. In the present invention, a "nonaqueous solvent" refers to a solvent other than water that is substantially free of water. Furthermore, the "melting point" refers to a value at 1 atmosphere.

[0013] The dielectric constant of component (A) at 25°C is less than 10, preferably 5 or less, and more preferably 3 or less. Furthermore, component (A) has a melting point of 0°C or less, preferably -10°C or less. [0047] On the other hand, in the non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention, it is preferable to limit the content of silicic anhydride in order to effectively suppress unwanted reactions between components (B) and (C) in the non-aqueous oral composition during production, storage, or before use, prevent the generation of carbon dioxide gas, and ensure good production stability and excellent storage stability. The content of such silicic anhydride in the non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention is preferably less than 10% by mass, more preferably less than 7% by mass, even more preferably less than 5% by mass, even more preferably less than 4% by mass, and even more preferably less than 1% by mass. Alternatively, it is preferable that the non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention is substantially free of silicic anhydride. Note that "substantially free of silicic anhydride" means that the content of silicic anhydride in the oral composition is less than 0.1% by mass.

[0048] The non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention preferably limits the content of non-aqueous solvents having a dielectric constant of 10 or more at 25°C from the viewpoints of effectively suppressing unwanted reactions between components (B) and (C) in the non-aqueous oral composition during production, storage, or before use, preventing the generation of carbon dioxide gas, ensuring good production stability and excellent storage stability, and ensuring a good foaming sensation. Specific examples of non-aqueous solvents having a dielectric constant of 10 or more at 25°C include glycerin, polyethylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, and diglycerin. The content of such non-aqueous solvents having a dielectric constant of 10 or more at 25°C is preferably less than 18% by mass, more preferably 10% by mass or less, even more preferably 6% by mass or less, and even more preferably 3% by mass or less. Alternatively, the non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention preferably contains substantially no non-aqueous solvents having a dielectric constant of 10 or more at 25°C. In addition, "substantially free of non-aqueous solvents having a relative dielectric constant of 10 or more at 25°C" means that the content of non-aqueous solvents having a relative dielectric constant of 10 or more at 25°C in the oral composition is less than 1 mass%.

[0049] The non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention may contain ingredients other than the above-mentioned ingredients, such as antibacterial agents, bactericides, medicinal ingredients, fragrances, colorants, etc., within the scope of not impairing the effects of the present invention.

[0050] The non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention is filled into a deformable container, and when an external force or the like is applied to the container, the non-aqueous oral composition as the content is discharged from a discharge port provided in the container. Such a container is not particularly limited in its form, as long as it has a discharge port. Examples of the container form include a tube container having a container body and a cap with a discharge port, a spout container having a pouch container body, and a squeeze-type container having a container body that can be deformed by squeezing. The material of the container is also not particularly limited. For example, in the case of a tube container having a container body with a multilayered body, the multilayered structure may have an innermost layer made of polyethylene such as low-density polyethylene, as well as a metallic layer such as aluminum, or a synthetic resin layer such as polypropylene or polyethylene terephthalate.

[0051] The non-aqueous oral composition of the present invention has excellent storage stability regardless of the container in which it is filled, and therefore can effectively prevent excessive swelling of the container during storage.
