Description

COMPOSITION COMPRISING AN OLIGOMER OF A HYDROXY FATTY ACID TRIGLYCERIDE AND OF A SATURATED DIACID, A FATTY AMINE, A FATTY ESTER AND AT LEAST 10% BY WEIGHT OF POLYOLTechnical field of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to a composition comprising an oligomer of a hydroxy fatty acid triglyceride and of a saturated diacid, a fatty amine, a fatty ester and at least 10% by weight of polyol relative to the total weight of the composition. More particularly, the composition is a cosmetic composition intended for treating keratin fibres, in particular the hair, and even more particularly for repairing and smoothing the hair. The invention also relates to a process for treating keratin fibres, in particular human keratin fibres such as the hair, comprising at least one step of applying the composition according to the invention to said fibres.Context of the invention

[0002] Hair is a keratin substance that is repeatedly subjected to various stresses associated with environmental factors (such as exposure to UV rays and pollution) and treatments such as bleaching, colouring, permanent waving or thermal smoothing. Hair is also regularly exposed to mechanical stress, especially during hair care routines (for example due to frequent brushing, or untangling and styling operations).

[0003] The structure of hair accordingly tends to deteriorate. More specifically, cuticles are raised and hair fibres become porous, while split ends develop at the ends. The fibres generally bend and arrange themselves in a disorganized manner with respect to one another. The consequences for the texture of the hair are noticeable, since it becomes difficult to comb in wet and dry conditions alike, has enhanced susceptibility to electrostatic phenomena, is difficult to manage when styling, and has a coarse appearance, especially at the ends. Overall, the hair, and more particularly its ends, is weakened, dehydrated and breaks more easily.

[0004] There is a need to provide compositions that make it possible to overcome all these drawbacks and that are in particular capable of reinforcing keratin fibres by repairing the cuticles and by sealing split ends where necessary. In particular, there is a need to restore the axial cohesion of the ends in order to allow the keratin fibres to be realigned (manageability), and to restore to damaged hair a smoother touch and appearance, suppleness, and to facilitate the disentangling and individualization of the strands (also referred to as loose strands), this being in a durable way.

[0005] In addition, there is a need to provide a composition that is easily applied to wet hair with a texture capable of giving good suppleness from application (also called hair transformation) and a good coating quality. The composition must also be stable during storage in order to obtain this particular texture at the time of application, while relying on a majority of renewable and biodegradable ingredients.

[0006] These objectives can be achieved in full or in part through the compositions of the invention.Summary of the invention

[0007] In a first aspect, a subject of the present invention is a composition (C), in particular cosmetic composition, comprising:(i) at least one oligomer of a hydroxyl fatty acid triglyceride and of a saturated diacid;(ii) at least one fatty amine;(iii) at least one fatty ester; and(iv) at least 10% by weight of polyol relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0008] Preferentially, the compositions according to the invention are free of silicones, cationic polymers and cationic surfactants other than fatty amines.

[0009] In a second aspect, a further subject of the invention is a process for the cosmetic treatment of human keratin fibres such as the hair, comprising the application to said keratin fibres of a composition (C) as defined above. More particularly, the process makes it possible to repair keratin fibres. Even more particularly, the process allows the repair and smoothing of the hair, facilitates disentangling thereof, improves the properties thereof in terms of suppleness and manageability, and allows good individualization of the hair strands. Advantageously, it is observed that the cosmetic properties conferred by the compositions according to the invention are durable in that they persist after a shampoo wash.

[0010] In a third aspect, a subject of the present invention is the use of a composition (C) as defined above for treating keratin fibres, and more particularly for repairing and smoothing the hair.Detailed description of the invention

[0011] Other subjects, characteristics, aspects and advantages of the invention will become still more clearly apparent on reading the description and the example that follows.

[0012] In the text hereinbelow, and unless otherwise indicated:

[0013] The limits of a range of values are included in that range, in particular in the expressions “between ... and ...”, “ranging from ... to ...” and “comprising from ... to ...”.

[0014] The expression “at least one” is equivalent to the expression “one or more” and may be substituted therewith; the expression “between” is equivalent to the expression “ranging from” and may be substituted therewith, and implies that the limits are included.

[0015] The term “keratin fibres” is understood as meaning fibres of human or animal origin, such as head hair, body hair, the eyelashes, the eyebrows, wool, angora, cashmere or fur. According to the present invention, the keratin fibres are preferably human keratin fibres, more preferentially head hair.

[0016] The term “durable”, when used to characterize a cosmetic effect in the context of the present invention, means that the effect persists after one or more shampoo washes.

[0017] “Transformation” or “transformation on application” is understood as meaning the softening of the keratin fibre on contact with a composition. More particularly, the composition (C) according to the invention is applied to damp hair. The transformation property is therefore evaluated on wet hair.Oligomer of a hydroxy fatty acid triglyceride and of a saturated diacid

[0018] The composition (C) according to the present invention comprises at least one oligomer of a hydroxy fatty acid triglyceride and of a saturated diacid. If two or more oligomers of a hydroxy fatty acid triglyceride and of a saturated diacid are used, they may be identical or different.

[0019] The term “oligomer” here denotes a polymer in which a relatively small number of monomers are linked together. It is preferable that the number of monomers in the oligomer is 100 or fewer, more preferably 50 or fewer, and even more preferably 20 or fewer.

[0020] The oligomer of a hydroxy fatty acid triglyceride and of a saturated diacid can be obtained by reacting a hydroxy fatty acid triglyceride such as hydrogenated castor oil (INCI name) and a saturated diacid. The reaction may be an esterification.

[0021] In accordance with the present invention, the diacid is said to be saturated when the hydrocarbon chain from which it is constituted does not include an unsaturated group, i.e. a carbon-carbon double bond. The term “diacid” here denotes a hydrocarbon compound containing two -COOH carboxyl functions. The composition according to the invention may comprise a single diacid or a mixture of more than one different diacids.

[0022] Likewise, for the purposes of the present invention, the oligomer may be a mixture of more than one different oligomers.

[0023] Saturated diacids that may be used include sebacic acid (or decane-1,10-dioic acid), malonic acid, succinic acid, glutaric acid, adipic acid, azelaic acid, octadecamethylenedicarboxylic acid and eicosadicarboxylic acid.

[0024] More particularly, the oligomer can be an oligoester in which the monomers are represented by the following formulas for the triglyceride (A) and diacid (B): in which:

[0025] R1represents a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkylene group containing, for example, from 1 to 20 carbon atoms and preferably represents the group -(CH2)l- in which “l” may vary from 1 to 20, and preferentially from 3 to 16, better still from 6 to 12,

[0026] R2represents a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl group containing, for example, from 1 to 12 carbon atoms and preferably represents the group -(CH2)m-CH3in which “m” may vary from 0 to 11, and preferably from 2 to 11, better still from 3 to 9, and

[0027] X1represents a linear or branched alkylene group and preferably represents the linear alkylene group (CH2)x- in which “x” is an integer ranging from 1 to 30 and preferably from 3 to 15.

[0028] According to one preferred embodiment, l = 10 and m = 5 and the group

[0029] in formula (A) above represents the alkyl residue of 12-hydroxystearic acid (the major component of hydrogenated castor oil).

[0030] When the diacid is sebacic acid, X1represents the linear alkylene group -(CH2)x- where “x” is equal to 8.

[0031] The average degree of polymerization of the oligomer may vary between 3 and 12, preferably between 4 and 10.

[0032] Thus, the oligomer of a hydroxy fatty acid triglyceride and of a saturated diacid may be represented by the following formula (C): (C)

[0033] in which:each of R1, R2and X1is as defined above, andn denotes an average degree of polymerization between 3 and 12, preferably between 4 and 10.

[0034] It is preferable that the following group:

[0035] in the formula (C) above represents the alkyl residue of 12-hydroxystearic acid and that X1represents -(CH2)8-.

[0036] It is preferable that the oligomer of a hydroxy fatty acid triglyceride and of a saturated diacid is an oligoester of hydrogenated castor oil and sebacic acid, i.e. a hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer formed from hydrogenated castor oil and sebacic acid.

[0037] Preference is given to using a compound having the INCI name “hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer”.
