Abstract
Description
[0001] Composition in the form of a powder for skin cleansing and method for skin cleansing using the composition
[0002] Field of the invention
[0003] The present invention generally relates to the field of cosmetology. Specifically, this disclosure provides a composition in the form of a powder that foams upon contact with water and is used as a skin cleansing agent for both the body and face during showering or bathing. This disclosure also pertains to the use of the said composition for skin cleansing, as well as a method for cleansing the skin using the composition.
[0004] Prior art
[0005] People worldwide use hygiene products such as soap and shower gel to cleanse the skin of both the body and face. The most popular product is shower gel in the form of a gel-like liquid, which is supplied in a bottle. When a small amount of water is added, it foams and is applied to the skin as foam, after which it is rinsed off. Compared to soap, which tends to slip in the hand and is relatively difficult to lather, liquid gel can be dispensed controllably from the bottle, allowing for precise quantity regulation. It foams easily and typically has a less aggressive composition for the skin.
[0006] The drawbacks of liquid shower gel include the fact that the bottle has a specific volume and can accidentally tip over and open, causing the gel to leak partially or completely. Therefore, shower gel may cause inconveniences, for example, when taken on trips. Additionally, shower gels contain many preservatives and still have a relatively short shelflife.
[0007] As one of the possible alternatives to soap and liquid shower gel in bottles, the use of foam sponges or foam gloves soaked with gel is known. These are presented in individual packages and offer greater economy, practicality, and convenience for use in various situations. However, the obvious drawbacks of such products are their single-use nature and high cost, making them unsuitable for daily use.
[0008] A more promising alternative to the aforementioned products is a dry powder that foams upon contact with water. For example, in patent document US6337066B1, a composition in the form of a powder suitable for cosmetic and / or dermatological use is described, which contains powdered ascorbic acid, starch, and at least one anionic surfactant.
[0009] However, the ascorbic acid used in this composition may irritate sensitive skin. Moreover, the composition's formulation still does not provide deep and effective skin cleansing.
[0010] Therefore, there is still a need in this field of technology for the development of an improved, universal dry skin cleansing product for use during showering or bathing, which would gently and thoroughly cleanse all skin types, be suitable for daily use, and, at the same time, contain a low amount of preservatives, be economical in consumption, have an extended shelf life, and be convenient to use. Additionally, there is a need for a more convenient, faster, and more effective method of skin cleansing.
[0011] The essence of the invention
[0012] Thus, the objective of this invention is to create an improved skin cleansing product that addresses existing consumer needs, namely a universal composition in the form of a powder for skin cleansing during showering or bathing, which gently and thoroughly cleanses all skin types and is suitable for daily use, while containing a low amount of preservatives, being economical in consumption, having an extended shelflife, and being convenient to use.
[0013] Another objective of this invention is to create a convenient, quick, and effective method for skin cleansing.
[0014] According to the first aspect of the invention, a composition in the form of a powder for skin cleansing is proposed, which foams upon contact with water and contains: rice starch in an amount ranging from approximately 40% to 59% by weight of the composition; sodium cocoyl isethionate in an amount ranging from approximately 19% to 25% by weight of the composition; diatomaceous earth in an amount ranging from approximately 10% to 15% by weight of the composition; sodium bicarbonate in an amount ranging from approximately 5% to 7% by weight of the composition; sucrose in an amount ranging from approximately 1% to 2% by weight of the composition; silicon dioxide in an amount ranging from approximately 1% to 1.5% by weight of the composition; keratinase in an amount ranging from approximately 0.5% to 2% by weight of the composition; sodium ascorbyl phosphate in an amount ranging from approximately 1.5% to 3% by weight of the composition; maltodextrin in an amount ranging from approximately 0.5% to 1% by weight of the composition; lipase in an amount ranging from approximately 0.5% to 1% by weight of the composition; protease in an amount ranging from approximately 0.5% to 1% by weight of the composition; potassium sorbate in an amount ranging from approximately 0.3% to 0.5% by weight of the composition; sodium benzoate in an amount ranging from approximately 0.3% to 0.5% by weight of the composition; flavoring agent in an amount ranging from approximately 0.5% to 0.8% by weight of the composition.
[0015] According to the second aspect of the invention, a method for skin cleansing is proposed, comprising the following steps:
[0016] • The composition according to the first aspect of the invention is mixed with water to form a foamed mixture;
[0017] • The foamed mixture is applied to the skin for cleansing;
[0018] • The mixture is then rinsed off the skin with water. According to one embodiment of the method, during the mixing step, the powdered composition is poured onto a water-moistened palm, sponge, or shower glove, and the foamed mixture is formed by rubbing the powder on the water-moistened palm, sponge, or shower glove, respectively.
[0019] According to another embodiment of the method, during the application step, the foamed mixture is applied to the skin using the palm, sponge, or shower glove.
[0020] It has been found that the components of the composition according to the present invention exhibit functional synergy with each other. The composition is a universal dry skin cleansing agent for use during showering or bathing, which gently and thoroughly cleanses all skin types and is suitable for daily use. Additionally, the composition is characterized by a low number of preservatives in its formulation. Moreover, the composition is economical in use and has an extended shelflife.
[0021] Furthermore, the formula of this composition rinses off easily and quickly with water, compared to liquid gels, which have a viscous consistency. Moreover, the dry powder of this composition is convenient to use at home, during travel, or in any other circumstances. The method of skin cleansing using the dry powder of this composition is convenient, easy, and quick.

[0033] In particular, the invention provides a composition in the form of a powder that foams upon contact with water and is used as a cleansing agent for both the body and face during a shower or bath. The preferred use is as a cleansing agent for the body during a shower or bath. Essentially, this invention represents a so-called dry shower gel or shower powder.
[0034] In the following text, the term "dry shower gel," as used in this document, refers to a composition in the form of a dry powder that foams upon contact with water and is used for cleansing the skin of the body during a shower or bath.
[0035] The composition according to the invention is in the form of a powder, meaning a solid substance finely ground into particles with an average particle size ranging, for example, from 50 to 600 micrometers, and preferably from 150 to 400 micrometers. The powder is prepared by simply mixing powdered components, making it easy to produce. Additionally, it has excellent water solubility and good foaming properties. Furthermore, it is pleasant to apply to the skin due to its softness.
[0036] In one aspect of the present invention, the composition contains the following components, as presented in Table 1 below.
[0037] Table 1- detailed information about the composition:
[0038]
[0039] Rice starch is used in the composition as a filler, which serves as an auxiliary substance for active components.
[0040] Sodium cocoisethionate is a surfactant. In the composition, it effectively performs the function of cleansing the skin and dissolving dirt on the skin's surface.
[0041] The composition also contains diatomaceous earth - an auxiliary substance that effectively performs the function of microabrasion - an agent that polishes the skin.
[0042] As an antioxidant that brightens and vitamins the skin, the composition contains sodium ascorbyl phosphate (SAP). Sodium ascorbyl phosphate is a stable water-soluble form of vitamin C, derived from the combination of ascorbic acid with phosphate and salt, compounds that interact with enzymes in the skin, breaking down the ingredient and releasing pure ascorbic acid. Due to the use of sodium ascorbyl phosphate, the composition has a reduced irritating effect on the skin and is suitable for sensitive skin.
[0043] Sodium bicarbonate is a functional additive that enhances the action of vitamin C and acts as a pH level regulator.
[0044] Keratinase is an enzyme that dissolves protein impurities, exerts a peeling effect, and dissolves the keratinized skin cells. As enzymes for dissolving keratinized skin cells, the composition also includes lipase and protease.
[0045] As functional additives that serve as auxiliary substances for the enzymes, the composition includes sucrose, silicon dioxide, and maltodextrin.
[0046] As preservative agents, the composition contains potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate. The composition of the dry shower gel may also contain other components in small amounts that do not affect the overall result specified in this description.
[0047] According to the invention, the method of cleansing the skin includes the following steps:
[0048] • The composition is mixed with water to form a foamed mixture;
[0049] • The foamed mixture is applied to the skin for cleansing;
[0050] • The mixture is rinsed off the skin with water.
[0051] Preferably, at the mixing stage, a small amount of the composition's powder is poured onto a water-moistened palm, sponge, or shower mitt, and a foamed mixture is formed by rubbing the powder on the moistened palm, sponge, or shower mitt, respectively.
[0052] Preferably, at the skin application stage, the foamed mixture is applied to the skin using the palm, sponge, or shower mitt, thoroughly spreading the mixture across the skin.
[0053] For mixing with water, the dry shower gel is taken in any necessary amount that will be considered sufficient (effective) for cleansing the skin. To this amount of dry shower gel, an amount of water is added that will result in the formation of a foamed mixture.
[0054] In the context of this application, the foamed mixture has the consistency of a mousse or a foamy emulsion.
[0055] This composition is typically supplied and stored in a plastic bottle with a cap. The cap is designed in such a way that, when opened, it ensures the dosed or controlled dispensing of the powder. This composition may also be supplied and stored in individually sealed sachets containing a single dose of the powder. However, any other packaging / storage options for this composition are also possible, provided that the product is protected from direct exposure to moisture (water) to maintain the powdered formula.
