[0033] In some solutions, it proposes a mechanism on paging repetition for multiple paging occasions but neglects to focus on multiple beams for multiple POs. In some other solution, while paging repetition is mentioned, paging repetition for multiple beams is not detailed. In some further solutions, only the repetition of physical waveforms is noted, while it is also important for the repetition of PDCCH and PDSCH, which improves the received signal noise ratio (SNR) .

[0034] In order to solve at least part of above problems, the present discourse proposes a solution on increasing the probability of receiving a notification / alert message in the direction of paging information, compressed information, and paging identifiers. Specifically, it is proposed what information may be included in robust notification messages, and the method for enhancing paging repetition as well as how to improve the robustness of notification by enhancing paging repetition.

[0035] Principles and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the figures.

[0036] FIG. 1 illustrates a schematic diagram of an example communication environment 100 in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. In the communication environment 100, a plurality of communication devices, including a terminal device 110 and a network device 120, can communicate with each other.

[0037] In the example of FIG. 1, the terminal device 110 may be a UE and the network device 120 may be a base station serving the UE. The serving area of the network device 120 may be called a cell 102.

[0038] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of devices configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more additional devices may be located in the cell 102, and one or more additional cells may be deployed in the communication environment 100. It is noted that although illustrated as a network device, the network device 120 may be another device than a network device. Although illustrated as a terminal device, the terminal device 110 may be other device than a terminal device.

[0039] In the following, for the purpose of illustration, some example embodiments are described with the terminal device 110 operating as a UE and the network device 120 operating as a base station. However, in some example embodiments, operations described in connection with a terminal device may be implemented at a network device or other device, and operations described in connection with a network device may be implemented at a terminal device or other device.

[0040] In some example embodiments, if the terminal device 110 is a terminal device and the network device 120 is a network device, a link from the network device 120 to the terminal device 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from the terminal device 110 to the network device 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the network device 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the terminal device 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the terminal device 110 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device 120 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0041] The communications in the communication environment 100 may conform to any  suitable standards including, but not limited to, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) , Long Term Evolution (LTE) , LTE-Evolution, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) , New Radio (NR) , Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) , Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) , Machine Type Communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-Advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0042] Reference is made to FIG. 2A, which illustrates a signaling flow 200 of transmitting robust notification information in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signaling flow 200 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the terminal device 110 and the network device 120.

[0043] The network device 120 transmits (2020) , to the terminal device 110, robust notification information that is used to inform the terminal device 110 to move to a target location with a better channel condition than a current location where the terminal device locates. In other words, the terminal device 110 receives (2020) the robust notification information from the network device 120. In some embodiments, the robust notification information may be triggered by the network, for example, paging failure. It is noted that the robust notification information may be triggered by any other proper criteria.

[0044] In some embodiments, in order to support the robust notification information, compressed message may be used. In some embodiments, the robust notification information may only include UE identity information. For example, the UE identity information may include a UE identity associated with the terminal device 110. Alternatively, the UE identity information may include a set of UE identities which contains the UE identity of the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, the set of UE identities may include up to 32 UE identities. In some other embodiments, the UE identity information may include one or more most significant bits (MSBs) of the set of UE identities. In this case, by way of example, if the UE ID is “010110” , the UE identity information may be “010” . Alternatively, the UE identity information may include one or more least significant bits (LSBs) of the set of UE identities. As an example, if the UE ID is “010110” , the UE identity information may be “110” . In some other embodiments, the  UE identity information may include a radio network temporary identifier associated with the terminal device. For example, the UE identity information may include a third part of an inactive radio network temporary identifier (I-RNTI) . The third part of the I-RNTI may include UE related information that is associated with the terminal device 110. As an example, the UE identity information may include 5G Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity (5G-TMSI) for next generation (NG) -5G-S-TMSI. In this way, the content of the message sent from the network device 120 to the terminal device 120 may be changed from robust notification to configuration dedicated for a paging message, which compresses the information to be transmitted and reduces the number of transmitted bits, and thereby increasing the probability of receiving notification / alert message. probability of receiving notification / alert message.

[0045] In some embodiments, the robust notification information may include an indication of the movement. For example, the robust notification information may include a notification or indication on moving to a better coverage area.

[0046] Alternatively or in addition, the robust notification information may include location information associated with the target location. For example, the robust notification information may include location or vector information related to the target location. In some embodiments, the location information may include a cell identity (such as, cell global identity (CGI) ) associated with the target location. Alternatively, or in addition, the robust notification information may include a reference location to which the terminal device 110 can move. The reference location may be from system information block (SIB) 19. In some other embodiments, the location information may include a distance between the target location and the current location. In some further embodiments, the location information may include a reference angle associated with the target location. All above information may be informed based on the current environment, such as boats, pockets.

[0047] In some embodiments, the robust notification information may be transmitted in a paging message. In this case, in some embodiments, the paging message for the robust notification information may be a reused paging message. In other words, the current paging message may be reused for the robust notification information. If the current paging message is reused, the number of UE identities may be limited to a number, such as 32. Alternatively, the paging message for the robust notification information may be a dedicated paging message. For example, a new paging message may be defined for the  robust notification information.

[0048] In some other embodiments, the robust notification information may be transmitted in downlink control information (DCI) . In this case, in an example embodiment, the DCI may be in a reused format. For example, the DCI may be DCI 1_0. In this way, since the DCI 1_0 format includes a small number of bits, the probability of decoding the DCI is high. It is noted that other existing DCI formats may also be used. In another example, the DCI may be in a dedicated format. In other words, a new DCI format may be defined for the robust notification information.

[0049] As mentioned above, the robust notification information may be transmitted in the paging message. In this case, in some embodiments, a dedicated RNTI may be used for the paging message including the robust notification information. In other words, a new RNTI may be introduced for the paging message including robust notification, such as, RN-RNTI. Table 1 below shows examples of RNTI values. It is noted that table 1 is only an example not limitation.

[0050] Table. 1 RNTI values

[0051] Alternatively, in some embodiments, an indication may be included in DCI to indicate that the paging message includes the robust notification information. For example, if the indication indicates “1” , it means the paging message including robust notification.

[0052] In some other embodiments, a dedicated search space is configured for the paging message including the robust notification information. In other words, different search spaces may be used for legacy paging message and the paging message including the robust notification information. Table 2 below shows a configuration of the  dedicated / new search space for the paging message including the robust notification information. It is noted that table 2 is only an example not limitation.

[0053] Table 2

[0054] In some embodiments, if the dedicated search space is configured, a dedicated PDCCH type for the dedicated search space may be defined. For example, a type 2B may be defined for this search space. Table 3 below shows an example of the dedicated / new PDCCH type. It is noted that table 3 is only an example not limitation.

[0055] Table 3

[0056] Referring back to FIG. 2A, in some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit (2005) a configuration dedicated for the paging message including the robust notification information to the terminal device 110. In other words, the terminal device 110 may receive (2005) the configuration dedicated for the paging message including the robust notification information from the network device 120. For example, the network device 120 may configure a paging control channel (PCCH) configuration dedicated for the paging message including the robust notification. In some embodiments, the configuration may include at least one of: a default paging cycle (such as, parameter “defaultPagingCycle” ) , a paging frame offset (such as, parameter “PagingFrameOffset” ) , the number of paging occasions per paging frame (which may be represented as “Ns” ) , or a first monitoring occasion of paging occasion (such as, parameter “firstPDCCH-MonitoringOccasionOfPO” ) .

[0057] According to embodiments described with reference FIG. 2A, it can use less bits to transmit the robust notification information, which increases the probability of receiving notification / alert message.

[0058] Reference is made to FIG. 2B, which illustrates a signaling flow 200’ of transmitting robust notification information in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signaling flow 200’ will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the terminal device 110 and the network device 120.

[0059] The network device 120 transmits (2020’) , to the terminal device 110, robust notification information that is used to inform the terminal device 110 to move to a target location with a better channel condition than a current location where the terminal device locates based on a paging repetition configuration. In other words, the terminal device 110 receives (2020’) the robust notification information from the network device 120 based on the paging repetition configuration. In some embodiments, the robust notification information may be triggered by the network, for example, paging failure. It is noted that the robust notification information may be triggered by any other proper criteria.

[0060] In some embodiments, the robust notification information may include at least one of: UE identity information, an indication of the movement, or location information  associated with the target location. Example embodiments of the robust notification information described with reference to FIG. 2A can also be implemented in FIG. 2B, which are omitted here.

[0061] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive the robust notification messages based on a paging repetition configuration. Embodiments of the paging repetition configuration are described below.

[0062] In some embodiments, a set of paging opportunities for the paging repetition may be configured for the terminal device 110. In this case, the terminal device 110 may decode a combination of the robust notification information received based on the set of paging opportunities. For example, some additional paging opportunities are considered as paging repetition. In this case, received physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) (for example, for the same synchronization signal blocks (SSB) ) in one PO may be combined to decode.

[0063] Reference is made to FIG. 3, which illustrates a schematic diagram of paging occasions in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In particular, there may be paging opportunities 311-1, 312-1, 313-1, 314-4, 311-2, 312-2, 313-2 and 314-2 in PO 310 and there may be paging opportunities 321-1, 322-1, 323-1, 324-4, 321-2, 322-2, 323-2 and 324-2 in PO 320. It is noted that the number of paging opportunities and the number of POs shown in FIG. 3 are only examples not limitations.

[0064] As shown in FIG. 3, the paging repetition number is 2 and the number of actually transmitted SSBs is 4. In particular, in PO 310, the number of paging repetitions is 2, and the actual SSBs transmitted are 4. SSB1 may be transmitted and repeated on paging opportunities 311-1, 311-2 in PO 310, SSB2 may be transmitted and repeated on paging opportunities 312-1, 312-2 in PO 310, SSB3 may be transmitted and repeated on paging opportunities 313-1, 313-2 in PO 310, and SSB4 may be transmitted and repeated on paging opportunities 314-1, 314-2 in PO 310. That is, the SSBs may be first transmitted sequentially and then this set of SSBs is repeated sequentially within the PO 310 In other words, 312-1 to 312-4 are identical to 311-1 to 311-4 in terms of content (i.e., SSB) . Similar to the above, in PO 320, the number of paging repetitions is 2, and the actual SSBs transmitted are 4. SSB1 may be transmitted and repeated on paging opportunities 321-1, 321-2 in PO 320, SSB2 may be transmitted and repeated on paging opportunities 322-1, 322-2 in PO 320, SSB3 may be transmitted and repeated on paging opportunities 323-1, 323-2 in PO 210, and SSB4 may be transmitted and repeated on paging  opportunities 324-1, 324-2 in PO 320. In other words, 322-1 to 322-4 are identical to 321-1 to 321-4 in terms of content (i.e., SSB) .

[0065] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 combine and decode the robust notification information received on the paging opportunities. For example, as shown in FIG. 3, the terminal device 110 may receive the robust notification information for SSB 1 on the paging opportunities 311-1 and 311-2 and then combine the received robust notification information to decode. Table 4 below shows an example of the way of reinterpretation and paging repetition with new parameter. It is noted that table 4 is only an example not limitation.

[0066] Table 4

[0067] In some other embodiments, one or more sets of paging occasions for the paging repetitions may be configured within a paging frame. In this case, the terminal device 110 may receive the robust notification information on the set of paging occasions and decode a combination of the robust notification information received based on the set of paging occasions.

[0068] Reference is made to FIG. 4, which illustrates a schematic diagram of paging occasions in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 4, the PO 410 and the PO 430 are configured for the terminal device 110 and the PO 420 and 440 are configured for another terminal device (not shown) . It is noted the number of POs and the number of PDCCH monitoring occasions are only example not limitations.

[0069] As shown in FIG. 4, the paging repetition number is 2 and the number of actually transmitted SSBs is 4. In particular, the PO 410 may include a PDCCH monitoring occasion 411-1 or SSB1, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 412-1 for SSB2, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 413-1 for SSB3, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 414-1 for SSB4 and the PO 430 may include a PDCCH monitoring occasion 431-1 or SSB1, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 432-1 for SSB2, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 433-1 for SSB3, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 434-1 for SSB4.  Similarly, the PO 420 may include a PDCCH monitoring occasion 421-1 or SSB1, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 422-1 for SSB2, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 423-1 for SSB3, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 424-1 for SSB4 and the PO 440 may include a PDCCH monitoring occasion 441-1 or SSB1, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 442-1 for SSB2, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 443-1 for SSB3, a PDCCH monitoring occasion 444-1 for SSB4. In this case, by way of example, the terminal device 110 may receive the robust notification information for SSB 1 on the paging opportunities 411-1 and 431-1 and then combine the received robust notification information to decode.

[0070] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may be configured with one or more sets of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) occasions for paging repetition within a paging occasion. In some embodiments, paging may be repeated first for the same beam and then for the next beam. For example, a first subset of consecutive PDCCH monitoring occasions within one paging occasion may be used for paging repetition on a first synchronization signal block, and a second subset of consecutive PDCCH monitoring occasions within one paging occasion may be used for paging repetition on a second synchronization signal block.

[0071] Reference is made to FIG. 5, which illustrates a schematic diagram of paging occasions in accordance with some further embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 5, there are two POs 510 and 520. Each paging occasion my include 8 PDCCH monitoring occasions, i.e., the PO 510 includes the PDCCH monitoring occasions 511-1, 511-2, 512-1, 512-2, 513-1, 513-2, 514-1 and 514-2, and the PO 520 includes the PDCCH monitoring occasions 521-1, 521-2, 522-1, 522-2, 523-1, 523-2, 524-1 and 524-2. In this case, the number of paging repetitions is 2, and the number of actually transmitted SSBs is 4. In particular, the terminal device 110 may monitor SSB1 on PDCCH monitoring occasions 511-1 and 511-2, SSB2 on PDCCH monitoring occasions 512-1 and 512-2, SSB3 on PDCCH monitoring occasions 513-1 and 513-2, and SSB4 on PDCCH monitoring occasions 514-1 and 514-2.

[0072] In some embodiments, the paging repetition needs to be configured and [x*S+K] th PDCCH monitoring occasion may be modified. For example, [ (k-1) *X+x] th PDCCH monitoring occasion for paging in the PO corresponds to the Kth transmitted SSB, where x=0, 1, …, X-1, K=1, 2, …, S. S may be actual transmitted SSB and X may be paging repetition number. As shown in FIG. 5, the first two PDCCH monitoring occasions (i.e., PDCCH monitoring occasions 511-1 and 511-2 ) in the PO 510 may corresponds to the 1st transmitted  SSB (i.e., SSB) .

[0073] Referring back to FIG. 2B, in some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit (2005’) a configuration dedicated for the paging message including the robust notification information to the terminal device 110. In other words, the terminal device 110 may receive (2005’) the configuration dedicated for the paging message including the robust notification information from the network device 120. For example, a dedicated paging repetition number can be configured in the configuration dedicated for the paging message including the robust notification information, which can be some enumerated value {2, 4, 6, 8, 16} or a range. In this case, if a paging call is made, the number in the above enumerated value or range may be used as the number of paging repetitions to increase the probability of receiving a notification / alert message by paging the same content multiple times. In some embodiments, for paging repetition, two configuration ways may be considered: the existing parameter “nrofPDCCH-MonitoringOccasionPerSSB-InPO-r16” may be reinterpreted as paging repetition for non-terrestrial network (NTN) and a repetition number (such as pagingRepetitionNumerPerSSB-InPO) . If the existing parameter “nrofPDCCH-MonitoringOccasionPerSSB-InPO-r16” is used for paging message including notification / alert, stopPagingMonitoring in short message cannot be used for NTN.

[0074] In some other embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit (2010') to the terminal device 110 a configuration including a set of paging repetition numbers, as shown in FIG. 2B. In some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit (2015’) DCI indicating a target paging repetition number within the set of paging repetitions to the terminal device 110. In this way, the used repetition number can be indicated dynamically. Table 5 shows the configuration of the set of paging repetition numbers. It is noted that Table 5 is only an example not limitation.

[0075] Table 5

[0076] For example, the set of paging repetition numbers (such as, 2, 4, 6, 8) may be configured via a system information block. If the DCI received by the terminal device 110  indicates “10” , the third value (for example, 6) of the paging repetition number may be used for the paging repetition.

[0077] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 receives DCI from the network device 120 indicating the number of target paging repetitions without configuration. For example, the network device 120 may transmit (2015’) the DCI indicating the number of target paging repetitions without configuration.

[0078] In some embodiments, nrofPDCCH-MonitoringOccasionPerSSB-InPO-r16 or pagingRepetitionNumerPerSSB-InPO, paging repetition, configurations such as those shown in Table 5 can be used for PDSCH and / or PDCCH. Repeat paging is facilitated by configuring the paging repeat identification to help determine the number of repeats.

[0079] In some embodiments, the robust notification information may be transmitted in the paging message. In this case, in some embodiments, a dedicated paging message may be used for transmitting the robust notification information. In some other embodiments, a current paging message may be used for transmitting the robust notification information. Embodiments of transmitting the robust notification information in the paging message described with reference to FIG. 2A can also be implemented in FIG 2B, which are omitted to avoid redundancy.

[0080] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the robust notification information may be transmitted in a short message. In some embodiments, the current short message may be reused for the short message including the robust notification information. In this case, one or more reserved bits in the current short message may be used for the robust notification information. In some other embodiments, a current short message may be used for transmitting the robust notification information.

[0081] In some other embodiments, the robust notification information may be transmitted in downlink control information (DCI) .

[0082] In some embodiments, if the robust notification information is transmitted in the  paging message, a dedicated RNTI may be used for the paging message including the robust notification information. In other words, a new RNTI may be introduced for the paging message including robust notification, such as, RN-RNTI. Examples of RNTI are shown in Table 1 above, which are omitted here.

[0083] Alternatively, in some embodiments, an indication may be included in DCI to indicate that the paging message includes the robust notification information. For example, if the indication indicates “1” , it means the paging message including robust notification.

[0084] In some other embodiments, a dedicated search space is configured for the paging message including the robust notification information. In other words, different search spaces may be used for legacy paging message and the paging message including the robust notification information. In some embodiments, if the dedicated search space is configured, a dedicated PDCCH type for the dedicated search space may be defined. For example, a type 2B may be defined for this search space.

[0085] According to embodiments described with reference to FIG. 2B, the paging repetition is applied to the robust notification information, which increase probability of receiving notification message.
