Abstract

Provided is a cosmetic kit comprising a base having a first end, a second end, a first side and a second side which comprises a first opening to hold a container for a base composition; a plurality of second openings each of which is to hold a test tube or vial for containing a booster; a plurality of third openings each of which is to hold a container for a customized composition obtainable by adding at least one selected booster to the base composition; a fourth opening which is to hold a mixing tool for mixing the booster into the base composition; and a fifth opening which is to hold instructions for using the kit. Also provided is a mixing and packaging assembly that comprises the above kit.

[0006] The present disclosure relates to a cosmetic kit for preparing a customized cosmetic composition. The present disclosure also relates to a mixing and packaging assembly comprising the cosmetic kit.

[0007] BACKGROUND

[0008] Personalized skin care systems are desirable for consumers to provide a skin care composition that meets the skin care needs of the individual consumer. In many cases, to obtain the cosmetic products composed of cosmetic active ingredients for skin conditions, a consumer receives professional advice or a professional skin consultation prior to buying the cosmetic products. Despite this professional advice, existing products may not be customized to the specific skin condition of the consumer.

[0009] With respect to customization, there are numerous skin types and conditions that require varying treatments consisting of differing compositions and mixtures of ingredients to be effective. Pre-packaging of general skin treatment compositions and mixtures directed to the mass market have resulted in a compromise of product offerings, as well as strength and potency issues resulting from extended times from manufacture to purchase due to inventory' storage and time spent sitting on the shelf and / or at storage before purchase and use.

[0010] With a growing demand for cosmetic products with active ingredients to improve skin conditions, there is a continuing need for a kit, system, and method for preparing DIY (Do-It- Yourself) cosmetics for specific skin conditions that is simple, customizable, and expedient. Additionally, it is desirable to provide skin care treatment products in packaging that keeps the ingredients separate until mixed and activated by an end user and increases potency and freshness for the end user with ease of use.

[0011] SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0012] The present disclosure relates to an all-in-one set of key ingredients to use to boost an existing skin care composition such as a cream or gel or make a new formula. The kit comprises a) a base to hold everything, b) a container for a base composition as a starting point for a customized composition; c) test tubes or vials for holding booster compositions or ingredients d) a mixing tool such as a mixing or dipping spoon to dispense booster ingredients into the base composition and e) test tubes or vials for the user to create and store a new customized formula.

[0024] Reference to the appended drawings is being made to facilitate an understanding and appreciation of the present disclosure in conjunction with the following description. It being understood that the drawings are provided solely as an example of the present disclosure.

[0025] The kit according to the present disclosure provides for the ability to adjust and create a customized composition according to a user’s skin conditions and / or desires or needs. Also, the kit according to the present disclosure provides for versatility in creating customized compositions according to changing environment or location of the user. For instance, a user might create a composition that normally meets the user’s needs, but the user might travel to a significantly different location having a vastly different environment, which might alter the needs of the user. In that situation the user would be able to create a tailored composition for the changed situation without the necessity' of needing a new base composition.

[0026] As shown in FIG. 1, is a cosmetic kit according to the present disclosure comprises a base (10) having a first end (12), a second end (14), a first side (16) and a second side (18). The base (10) is typically made from a biodegradable and light weight material such as wood and more typically bamboo, hickory, acacia, beech, eucalyptus, rubberwood, oak, or maple. In one embodiment, the base (10) is made from bamboo. The base (10) is typically cuboidal- shaped.

[0027] The base (10) comprises a first opening (20), which is sized and shaped to hold a container (24) (see FIGS. 3 and 4) for a base composition. The first opening (20) is typically circular in shape, an example of which is about 7 to about 10 cm in diameter and about 3 to about 6 cm deep.

[0028] The first opening (20) is located in the vicinity of the first end (12) of the base (10) thereby minimizing the overall size of base (10). In an example, the first opening (20) is located about 0.5 to about 2 cm from first end (12) of the base.

[0029] The base (10) also comprises a plurality of second openings (22). Each of the second openings (22) is sized and shaped to hold a test tube or vial (26) (see FIGS. 5 and 6) for containing a booster. The test tubes or vials (26) are typically flat bottomed and made of biodegradable material such as glass or a biodegradable plastic. The second openings (22) are ty pically circular in shape and an exemplary size of which is about 2 to about 3 cm in diameter and about 3 to about 10 cm deep. The plurality’ of second openings (22) are located juxtaposed to the first opening (20), such as about 1 cm from the first opening (20).

[0030] The base (10) further comprises a plurality of third openings (28). Each of the third openings (2) is sized and shaped to hold a container (30) (see figures 7 and 9) for holding a customized composition. The customized composition is obtainable by adding at least one selected booster to a base composition. The containers (30) are typically a test or vial, which are flat bottomed and made of biodegradable material such as glass or biodegradable plastic.

[0031] The diameter of the containers (30) is typically about 1.5 times the diameter of the test tubes or vials (22), an example of which being about 2.5 to about 4.5 cm in diameter. The depth of which is typically about 3 to about 15.5 cm.

For instance, a portion of the base composition can be placed in the containers (30) and mixed with a booster(s) to prepare a customized composition, while the remaining portion of the base composition is available for any use desired by the user and could be used as such, to prepare an additional quantity of the customized composition or used to prepare another customized composition.

[0033] The plurality of third openings (28) is located juxtaposed to the plurality of second openings (22) such as about 1 cm from the first opening (22) and in the vicinity' of the second end of the base (14) thereby minimizing the overall size of base (10). In an example, the third openings are located about 1 cm from the second end (14) of the base.

[0035] The relative location of the plurality of the third openings (28) facilitates access to the containers (30) therein. They are readily accessible or reachable, while minimizing the danger of inadvertently knocking into test tubes or vials (26) when located in openings (22).

[0038] The fourth opening is sized and shaped to hold a mixing tool (34) (see Fig. 8), typically a mixing spoon for mixing a booster composition into a base composition. The spoon (34) is configured to dropwise add the booster composition to the base composition. The spoon is typically made of a stainless steel.

[0040] The base (10) further comprises a fifth opening (40) located in the vicinity of the second side of the base (18) and along a second side of the first opening and the plurality of second openings. The fifth opening (40) is sized and shaped to hold instructions for using the kit. Typical size of the fifth opening (40) is about 150 to about 160 mm x about 30 mm x about 2 to about 3 cm deep.

[0041] The fifth opening (40) does not extend to be alongside the plurality of third openings (28), so that the containers (30) do not block or interfere with the instructions. The instructions are important since they provide, for instance, a caution to the user from using too much of the supplied booster compositions. For example, the supplied booster compositions typically contain at least 10 to 20 times the recommended concentration. Therefore, typically only about 1 to 3 drops of the booster composition are to be added to the base composition. Some examples of boosters are Nerium, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid Complex; White Willow Bark; Aloe; Vitamin C; Seaberry, Peptide Matrix Serum, a UV and / or UVA- UVB serum.

[0042] The mixing and packaging assembly according to the present disclosure comprises a cosmetic kit as disclosed above; a container (24) for a base composition; a plurality of test tubes or vials (26) or containing boosters; a plurality of containers (30) for containing a customized composition; a mixing device (34) for mixing the booster into the base composition; and instructions for using the kit.

In that situation the user would be able to create a tailored composition for the changed situation without the necessity to obtain a new base composition.

By way of example, one composition could be for daytime use and another for nighttime use. CLAIMSWhat is claimed is:

1. A cosmetic kit for preparing a customized cosmetic composition comprising a base having a first end, a second end, a first side and a second side which comprises(i) a first opening sized and shaped to hold a container for a base composition and located in the vicinity of the first end of the base;(ii) a plurality of second openings each of which is sized and shaped to hold a test tube or vial for containing a booster, wherein the plurality of second openings is located juxtaposed to the first opening;(iii) a plurality of third openings each of which is sized and shaped to hold a container for holding a customized composition obtainable by adding at least one booster to the base composition, wherein the plurality of third openings is located juxtaposed to the plurality of second openings and in the vicinity of the second end of the base;(iv) a fourth opening located in the vicinity' of the first side of the base and along a first side of the first opening and the plurality’ of second openings and not extending to be alongside the plurality of third openings; wherein the fourth opening is sized and shaped to hold a mixing tool for mixing the booster into the base composition; and(v) a fifth opening located in the vicinity of the second side of the base and along a second side of the first opening and the plurality of second openings and not extending to be alongside the plurality of third openings; wherein the fifth opening is sized and shaped to hold instructions for using the kit.

2. The cosmetic kit according to claim 1, wherein the base is cuboidal-shaped.

3. The cosmetic kit according to claim 1. wherein the first opening is circular in shape.

4. The cosmetic kit according to claim 1, wherein each of the second openings is circular in shape.

5. The cosmetic kit according to claim 1, which comprises at least two rows of the at least two second openings.

6. The cosmetic kit according to claim 1, which comprises at least two rows of four second openings.

7. The cosmetic kit according to claim 1, wherein each of the third openings is circular in shape.

8. The cosmetic kit according to claim 1, which comprises three third openings.

9. The cosmetic kit according to claim 1, wherein the mixing tool is a spoon.

10. The cosmetic kit according to claim 1, wherein the mixing tool is a spoon having a slot for dropwise dispensing of the booster.

11. A mixing and packaging assembly which comprises: a. the cosmetic kit according to claim 1 ; b. a container for a base composition; c. a plurality of test tubes or vials for containing boosters; d. a plurality of containers for containing a customized composition; e. a mixing device for mixing the booster into the base composition; and f. instructions for using the kit.

12. The mixing and packaging assembly according to claim 11, which comprises the cosmetic kit according to claim 2.

13. The mixing and packaging assembly according to claim 11, which comprises the cosmetic kit according to claim 3.

14. The mixing and packaging assembly according to claim 11. which comprises the cosmetic kit according to claim 4.

15. The mixing and packaging assembly according to claim 11, which comprises the cosmetic kit according to claim 5.

16. The mixing and packaging assembly according to claim 11, which comprises the cosmetic kit according to claim 6.

17. The mixing and packaging assembly according to claim 11, which comprises the cosmetic kit according to claim 7.

18. The mixing and packaging assembly according to claim 11, which comprises the cosmetic kit according to claim 8.
