Abstract

The present invention relates to shears (1) for cutting thick pieces, comprising a guillotine formed by two blades (2, 3) joined by a central shaft (4) and having actuating extensions (5) on the side opposite the blades (2, 3) with respect to the central shaft (4), with a first blade (2) having a first cutting edge (20) that is convex in the longitudinal direction. According to the invention, the shears comprise a second blade (3) having a second cutting edge (30) that is either straight or has a radius of curvature greater than at least 150% with respect to the radius of curvature of the first blade (2).

Description

[0001] SCISSORS FOR CUTTING THICK PIECES

[0002] DESCRIPTION

[0003] OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The present invention relates to scissors for cutting thick pieces, usable in upholstery, tailoring, shoemaking and similar work.

[0005] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0006] Currently, there are scissors known for upholstery, tailoring, shoemaking and similar work, which comprise a guillotine formed by two blades joined by a central axis and with drive extensions on the side opposite the blades with respect to the central axis, where one of the blades has a first convex edge in the longitudinal direction, and the second blade a second edge, but in this case concave in the longitudinal direction, almost complementary to the convexity of the first edge, such that these shapes of the edges improve the cut especially in curved pieces.

[0007] The problem with these scissors is that they're almost impossible to sharpen, because the concave shape of the cutting blade doesn't provide much use, as the asymmetry of the parallel lines of the cutting pieces is unbalanced. This is solved with the scissors of the invention.

[0008] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0009] The shears for cutting thick pieces of the invention are of the type comprising a guillotine formed by two blades joined by a central axis, with drive extensions on the side opposite the blades with respect to the central axis, and with a first blade with a first convex edge in the longitudinal direction, and which according to the invention comprises: a second blade with a second straight edge or with a radius of curvature greater than at least 150% with respect to the radius of curvature of the first blade.

[0010] Thus, when sharpening the edges, since there is no concave edge, the convergence of the edges is not disturbed during closing. Therefore, they can be sharpened many times and better, and therefore last longer.

[0011] Furthermore, they are stronger by design, as the second, essentially straight, edge below acts as a support, while the first, or upper, edge cuts. Furthermore, the more centered axis allows for greater force and helps cut in parallel, providing more leverage where the hand presses for cutting thicker or harder types of upholstery or shoes, whether for shoe repairs with rubber soles or thick leather soles.

[0012] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0013] Figure 1 shows an exploded view of the scissors of the invention.

[0014] Figure 2 shows a view of the scissors of the invention.

[0015] DESCRIPTION OF A PRACTICAL EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

[0016] The scissors (1) for cutting thick pieces of the invention are of the type comprising a guillotine formed by two blades (2, 3) joined by a central axis (4) and with drive extensions (5) on the side opposite the blades (2, 3) with respect to the central axis (4), with a first blade (2) with a first convex edge (20) in the longitudinal direction; and which according to the invention, comprises a second blade (3) with a second edge (30) that is straight or has a radius of curvature greater than at least 150% with respect to the radius of curvature of the first blade (2).

[0017] The arrangement of a spring (6) to restore the opening position, placed between the drive extensions (5), is also preferred, since it enables the use of extensions (5) that can be operated with the whole hand, and the scissors to open when the hand is released.

[0018] Finally, note that this configuration allows you to work effectively with scissors up to 23 centimeters long.

[0019] Having sufficiently described the nature of the invention, as well as the manner of its implementation in practice, it should be noted that the provisions indicated above and represented in the attached drawings are susceptible to modifications in detail as long as they do not alter the fundamental principle.
