Abstract
Description
Terminal fitting, mounting board and board device
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a terminal fitting, a mounting board, and a board device.
[0002] Patent Document 1 discloses a terminal-equipped board in which board terminals are attached to the board by soldering. The board terminals are attached to a first cover member. Before soldering, the protrusions of the first cover member are in contact with the board, allowing the board terminals to stand independently on the board.
[0003] JP 2016-100215 A
[0004] The technology disclosed in Patent Document 1 uses a first cover member as a means for allowing the board terminals to stand on the board before soldering. Because the first cover member is disposed so as to cover the mounting surface of the board, the effective area of the mounting surface of the board is reduced by the projected area of the first cover member.
[0005] The terminal fittings of the first disclosure, the board connector of the second disclosure, and the board device of the third disclosure were completed based on the above-mentioned circumstances, and their purpose is to enable the terminal fittings to be temporarily held on the circuit board by themselves before being fixed to the circuit board by soldering.
[0006] The terminal fitting of the first disclosure is a terminal fitting attached to a first circuit board arranged opposite a second circuit board, and has a terminal connection portion connected to a mating terminal provided on the second circuit board, a board connection portion inserted into a through hole of the first circuit board and fixed by solder, and a protrusion portion formed opposite the first circuit board, and by the protrusion portion abutting the first circuit board, the inclination of the terminal connection portion relative to the first circuit board is regulated and the insertion depth of the board connection portion into the through hole is regulated to a constant depth.
[0007] The mounting board of the second disclosure includes: a first circuit board arranged to face a second circuit board; and the terminal fitting described in the first disclosure.
[0008] A substrate device according to a third disclosure includes a second circuit board and the mounting board according to the second disclosure.
[0009] According to the first to third disclosures, before the terminal fittings are fixed to the first circuit board by soldering, the terminal fittings can be temporarily held on the first circuit board by themselves.

[0011] [Description of Embodiments of the Present Disclosure] First, embodiments of the present disclosure will be listed and described. Any combination of the following multiple embodiments within a range that does not cause contradictions is also included in the embodiments for carrying out the invention.
[0012] The terminal fitting of the first disclosure is as follows: (1) A terminal fitting attached to a first circuit board arranged opposite a second circuit board, the terminal fitting having a terminal connection portion connected to a mating terminal provided on the second circuit board, a board connection portion inserted into a through hole of the first circuit board and fixed thereto by soldering, and a protrusion formed opposite the first circuit board, wherein the protrusion abuts against the first circuit board to restrict tilt of the terminal connection portion relative to the first circuit board and restrict the insertion depth of the board connection portion into the through hole to a fixed depth. According to the configuration of the first disclosure, before the board connection portion is fixed to the first circuit board by soldering, tilt of the terminal fitting relative to the first circuit board and over-insertion into the through hole are prevented. According to the first disclosure, before the terminal fitting is fixed to the first circuit board by soldering, the terminal fitting can stand independently on the first circuit board.
[0013] (2) Preferably, the board connection portion has a pair of insertion portions that are individually inserted into a pair of the through holes that are spaced apart from each other. With this configuration, the pair of insertion portions are inserted into the through holes at two locations spaced apart from each other, so that the terminal fittings can be stably and temporarily held on the first circuit board before being fixed to the first circuit board by soldering.
[0014] (3) In (2), it is preferable that the protrusions are formed on both of the pair of insertion portions. With this configuration, the protrusions abut against the first circuit board at two locations spaced apart from each other, so that the terminal fittings can be temporarily held stably on the first circuit board before being fixed to the first circuit board by soldering.
[0015] (4) In (2) or (3), the pair of insertion sections preferably includes a pair of parallel plate-shaped insertion base sections and a plate-shaped folded section formed by folding back an extension from at least one of the insertion base sections toward the other insertion section and overlapping the at least one insertion base section, and the protrusion section preferably protrudes from the at least one insertion base section on the side opposite the folded section. This configuration allows the protrusion section to protrude less from the insertion base section than in a configuration in which the protrusion section protrudes on the same side as the folded section. Therefore, the protrusion section has excellent reliability in preventing tilting and excessive insertion.
[0016] (5) In (2) or (3), the terminal connection portion preferably has a pair of closely folded flat plate portions, and the pair of insertion portions includes a first insertion portion extending from one of the flat plate portions and a second insertion portion extending from the other of the flat plate portions, the first insertion portion having a flat plate shape that is flush with the one of the flat plate portions, and the second insertion portion having a bent shape that is spaced apart from the first insertion portion. With this configuration, when connecting the terminal connection portion to a mating terminal, a reaction force acts on the terminal connection portion from the mating terminal. This reaction force is received by the first insertion portion and the second insertion portion that extend from the flat plate portions that constitute the terminal connection portion. Here, because the first insertion portion is flush with one of the flat plate portions, there is no risk of deformation even when subjected to the reaction force. Therefore, deformation of the board connection portion during connection to the mating terminal can be prevented.
[0017] (6) In (5), it is preferable that the protrusions include a first protrusion formed by hammering out a portion of the first insertion portion and a second protrusion extending cantilever-like from the second insertion portion. With this configuration, the reaction force from the terminal connection portion is received by the first protrusion, but since the first protrusion is formed by hammering out a portion of the first insertion portion, it has higher rigidity than the second protrusion extending cantilever-like from the second insertion portion. Therefore, the reaction force from the terminal connection portion can be reliably received.
[0018] The mounting board of the second disclosure (7) comprises a first circuit board arranged to face a second circuit board, and the terminal fittings described in the first disclosure attached to the first circuit board. According to the configuration of the second disclosure, before the board connection portion is fixed to the first circuit board by soldering, tilting of the terminal fittings relative to the first circuit board and over-insertion into the through holes are prevented. According to the second disclosure, before the terminal fittings are fixed to the first circuit board by soldering, the terminal fittings can be made to stand independently on the first circuit board.
[0019] A board device according to a third disclosure includes (8) a second circuit board and the mounting board according to the second disclosure. According to the third disclosure, before the terminal fittings are fixed to the first circuit board by soldering, the terminal fittings can be independently mounted on the first circuit board.
[0020] [Details of the Embodiments of the Present Disclosure] [Example 1] A substrate device A, a mounting substrate 10, and a terminal fitting 20 according to Example 1 embodying the present disclosure will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4. The present invention is not limited to these examples, but is defined by the claims, and includes all modifications within the meaning and scope of the claims. In Example 1, with regard to the front-to-back direction, the F direction in FIGS. 2 to 4 is defined as the front. With regard to the up-down direction, the H direction in FIGS. 1, 3, and 4 is defined as the up. With regard to the left-to-right direction, the R direction in FIGS. 1 to 4 is defined as the right.
[0021] The board device A of the first embodiment includes a second circuit board 50, a board connector 52, and a mounting board 10. The second circuit board 50 is disposed horizontally with its second mounting surface 51 facing downward. The board connector 52 is attached to the second mounting surface 51. The board connector 52 includes a housing 53 fixed to the second circuit board 50, and a pair of female terminals 54 having elastic contact pieces 55. The pair of female terminals 54 are attached to the housing 53 while being accommodated within the housing 53.
[0022] The mounting board 10 is configured to include a first circuit board 11 and at least one pair of terminal fittings 20. The first circuit board 11 is disposed horizontally below the second circuit board 50 with its first mounting surface 12 facing upward. Four through holes 13 are formed in the first circuit board 11, spaced apart in the left-right direction. Each through hole 13 has an elongated shape in the front-to-rear direction in a plan view of the first circuit board 11 viewed from above. The first circuit board 11 and the second circuit board 50 are disposed parallel to each other and facing each other in the up-down direction.
[0023] The terminal fittings 20 are single components formed by bending a metal plate that has been punched into a predetermined shape. The terminal fittings 20 are symmetrical from front to back. A pair of terminal fittings 20 are arranged symmetrically on the left and right and are electrically connected to the first circuit board 11 with solder S. The following describes the right-side terminal fitting 20 of the pair of left and right terminal fittings 20.
[0024] The terminal fitting 20 has a terminal connection portion 21 and a board connection portion 25. The terminal connection portion 21 includes a pair of left and right flat plate portions 22, 23 that overlap parallel to each other with their plate thickness oriented in the left-right direction, and a bent portion 24 that connects the upper edges of the pair of flat plate portions 22, 23. The pair of flat plate portions 22, 23 includes a first flat plate portion 22 and a second flat plate portion 23 located on the right side of the first flat plate portion 22.
[0025] The board connection portion 25 includes a first insertion portion 26, a second insertion portion 29, a first protrusion 33, and a second protrusion 39. The first insertion portion 26 has a first insertion base 27 and a pair of first folded portions 28 that are symmetrical in the front-to-rear direction. The first insertion base 27 is a flat portion that extends downward from the lower edge of the first flat plate portion 22, forming a flush surface with the first flat plate portion 22. The pair of front and rear first folded portions 28 are flat portions that fold back to the right (toward the second insertion portion 29) from both front and rear end edges of the first insertion base 27 and overlap the right side surface of the first insertion base 27.
[0026] The second insertion portion 29 has an extending portion 30, a second insertion base portion 31, and a pair of second folded portions 32 that are symmetrical in the front-rear direction. The extending portion 30 is a flat portion that extends at a right angle from the lower edge of the second flat portion 23 to the right (away from the first insertion portion 26). The second insertion base portion 31 is a flat portion that extends downward from the extending edge (right edge) of the extending portion 30 in parallel with the first insertion base portion 27. The second insertion base portion 31 is disposed opposite the first insertion base portion 27 with a gap in the plate thickness direction (left-right direction). The pair of front and rear second folded portions 32 are flat portions that fold back to the left (toward the first insertion portion 26) from both front and rear end edges of the second insertion base portion 31 and overlap the left side surface of the second insertion base 31.
[0027] The first protrusion 33 is a portion formed by hammering out the center portion of the upper end of the first insertion base 27 in the front-to-rear direction to the left (the opposite side of the first folded portion 28 in the left-to-right direction). The first protrusion 33 has a front surface 34, a rear surface 35, a top surface 36, and a side surface 37. The front surface 34 and the rear surface 35 are portions that individually protrude leftward from positions spaced apart in the front-to-rear direction on the left outer surface of the first insertion base 27. The top surface 36 connects the upper edges of the front surface 34 and the rear surface 35. The side surface 37 connects the left edges of the front surface 34, the rear surface 35, and the top surface 36. The lower surface of the first protrusion 33 functions as a first abutment surface 38 that abuts in surface contact with the first mounting surface 12 of the first circuit board 11.
[0028] The second protrusion 39 is a portion that extends in a cantilevered manner to the right (the opposite side of the second folded portion 32 in the left-right direction) from the upper edge of the second insertion base 31. The lower surface of the second protrusion 39 functions as a second abutment surface 40 that abuts in a surface-to-surface contact state against the first mounting surface 12. The first abutment surface 38 and the second abutment surface 40 are set to the same height.
[0029] When mounting the terminal fittings 20 on the first circuit board 11, the board connecting portions 25 of the pair of left and right terminal fittings 20 are temporarily held against the first circuit board 11, which is positioned horizontally with the first mounting surface 12 facing upward. In the temporarily held state, the first insertion portion 26 and the second insertion portion 29 are individually inserted into the through-holes 13. When the first insertion portion 26 and the second insertion portion 29 are inserted into the through-holes 13, the first abutment surface 38 of the first protrusion 33 and the second abutment surface 40 of the second protrusion 39 come into surface contact with the first mounting surface 12. This abutment holds the terminal fittings 20 at a predetermined height relative to the first circuit board 11, and maintains a constant insertion depth of the first insertion portion 26 and the second insertion portion 29 into the through-holes 13.
[0030] In each terminal fitting 20, the first protrusion 33 and the second protrusion 39 are spaced apart in the left-right direction, so there is no risk of the terminal fitting 20 tilting left-right. In a plan view, the first insertion portion 26 and the second insertion portion 29 are elongated in the front-to-rear direction, so there is no risk of the terminal fitting 20 tilting front-to-rear relative to the first circuit board 11. Therefore, by simply inserting the board connecting portion 25 into the through-hole 13, the terminal fitting 20 can stand on its own with a stable posture and height without the use of any other members.
[0031] With the terminal fitting 20 temporarily held on the first circuit board 11 as described above, the through-hole 13 and the first insertion portion 26 are electrically connected to each other with solder S, and the through-hole 13 and the second insertion portion 29 are electrically connected to each other with solder S. In this way, the terminal fitting 20 is connected to the first circuit board 11, and the assembly of the mounting board 10 is completed.
[0032] The assembled mounting board 10 is placed below the board connector 52. When the mounting board 10 and the board connector 52 are moved relative to each other in the vertical direction so that they approach each other, the pair of female terminals 54 and the pair of terminal fittings 20 are electrically connected. At this time, the resilient contact pieces 55 of the female terminals 54 contact the board connection portions 25 in an elastically deformed state, and frictional resistance is generated between the female terminals 54 and the terminal fittings 20 due to the elastic restoring force of the resilient contact pieces 55. This frictional resistance acts as a pressing force from the female terminals 54 side to the terminal fittings 20 side.
[0033] Because the second insertion portion 29 extends in a direction intersecting the pressing direction from the female terminal 54 to the terminal connection portion 21 and has an L-shaped bent shape, there is concern that it may be deformed by the pressing force from the female terminal 54. The first insertion base 27 of the first insertion portion 26 is connected flush with the terminal connection portion 21 (first flat plate portion 22) and has a flat plate shape parallel to the pressing direction from the female terminal 54, so there is no risk of deformation. In this way, the first insertion base 27 receives the pressing force from the female terminal 54 without deforming, so there is no risk of the board connection portion 25 being deformed.
[0034] The board device A of the first embodiment includes a second circuit board 50 and a mounting board 10. The mounting board 10 includes a first circuit board 11 disposed opposite the second circuit board 50, and a terminal fitting 20 attached to the first circuit board 11. The terminal fitting 20 includes a terminal connection portion 21, a board connection portion 25, a first protrusion 33, and a second protrusion 39. The terminal connection portion 21 is connected to a female terminal 54 (mating terminal) of a board connector 52 provided on the second circuit board 50. The board connection portion 25 is fixed with solder S while inserted into a through hole 13 of the first circuit board 11. The first protrusion 33 and the second protrusion 39 are portions formed on the terminal fitting 20 so as to face the first mounting surface 12 of the first circuit board 11. When the first protrusion 33 and the second protrusion 39 abut against the first mounting surface 12, the inclination of the terminal connection portion 21 relative to the first circuit board 11 is regulated, and the insertion depth of the board connection portion 25 into the through hole 13 is regulated to a constant depth.
[0035] According to the substrate device A, mounting substrate 10, and terminal fittings 20 of the first embodiment, before the substrate connecting portions 25 are fixed to the first circuit board 11 with the solder S, tilting of the terminal fittings 20 relative to the first circuit board 11 and excessive insertion of the substrate connecting portions 25 into the through holes 13 are prevented. Therefore, before the terminal fittings 20 are fixed to the first circuit board 11 with the solder S, the terminal fittings 20 can stand independently on the first circuit board 11.
[0036] The board connection portion 25 has a pair of insertion portions (a first insertion portion 26 and a second insertion portion 29) that are individually inserted into a pair of spaced-apart through-holes 13. With this configuration, the first insertion portion 26 and the second insertion portion 29 are inserted into the through-holes 13 at two locations spaced apart from each other, so that the terminal fittings 20 can be temporarily held stably on the first circuit board 11 before being fixed to the first circuit board 11 with the solder S.
[0037] Protrusions (first protrusion 33 and second protrusion 39) are formed on both of the pair of insertion portions (first insertion portion 26 and second insertion portion 29). With this configuration, the first protrusion 33 and the second protrusion 39 abut against the first circuit board 11 at two locations spaced apart from each other, so that the terminal fitting 20 can be temporarily held stably on the first circuit board 11 before being fixed to the first circuit board 11 with the solder S.
[0038] The first insertion portion 26 has a plate-shaped first insertion base portion 27 and a plate-shaped first folded portion 28. The first folded portion 28 is formed by folding back a portion extending from the first insertion base portion 27 (at least one of the insertion base portions) toward the second insertion portion 29 (the other insertion portion) and overlapping the first insertion base portion 27. The first protrusion 33 protrudes from the first insertion base portion 27 on the opposite side from the first folded portion 28 in the left-right direction. With this configuration, the protrusion dimension of the first protrusion 33 from the first insertion base portion 27 can be kept small compared to a configuration in which the first protrusion 33 protrudes on the same side as the first folded portion 28. Therefore, the first protrusion 33 has excellent reliability in preventing tilting and excessive insertion.
[0039] The second insertion portion 29 has a plate-shaped second insertion base portion 31 and a plate-shaped second folded portion 32. The second folded portion 32 is formed by folding back a portion extending from the second insertion base portion 31 (at least the other insertion base portion) toward the first insertion portion 26 (one of the insertion portions) and overlapping the second insertion base portion 31. The second protrusion 39 protrudes from the second insertion base portion 31 on the opposite side from the second folded portion 32 in the left-right direction. With this configuration, the protrusion dimension of the second protrusion 39 from the second insertion base portion 31 can be kept small compared to a configuration in which the second protrusion 39 protrudes on the same side as the second folded portion 32. Therefore, the second protrusion 39 has excellent reliability in preventing tilting and excessive insertion.
[0040] The terminal connection portion 21 has a pair of closely folded flat plate portions 22, 23. The pair of insertion portions includes a first insertion portion 26 extending from the first flat plate portion 22 (one of the flat plate portions) and a second insertion portion 29 extending from the second flat plate portion 23 (the other flat plate portion). The first insertion portion 26 has a flat plate shape that is flush with the first flat plate portion 22. The second insertion portion 29 has a bent shape that is spaced apart from the first insertion portion 26. When the terminal connection portion 21 is connected to a female terminal 54 (a mating terminal), a reaction force acts on the terminal connection portion 21 from the female terminal 54. This reaction force is received by the first insertion portion 26 and the second insertion portion 29 extending from the flat plate portions 22, 23 that constitute the terminal connection portion 21. Here, the first insertion portion 26 is flush with the first flat plate portion 22, so there is no risk of deformation even when a reaction force is applied, and therefore deformation of the board connection portion 25 when connected to the female terminal 54 can be prevented.
[0041] The protrusions include a first protrusion 33 formed by hammering out a portion of the first insertion portion 26, and a second protrusion 39 extending in a cantilevered manner from the second insertion portion 29. With this configuration, the reaction force from the terminal connection portion 21 side is received by the first protrusion 33, but because the first protrusion 33 is formed by hammering out a portion of the first insertion portion 26, it has higher rigidity than the second protrusion 39 extending in a cantilevered manner from the second insertion portion 29. Therefore, the reaction force from the terminal connection portion 21 side can be reliably received.
[0042] [Example 2] A terminal fitting 60 according to Example 2 of the present disclosure will be described with reference to Figures 5 and 6. In Example 2, with regard to the front-to-rear direction, the F direction in Figures 5 and 6 is defined as the front. With regard to the up-down direction, the H direction in Figures 5 and 6 is defined as the up. With regard to the left-to-right direction, the R direction in Figures 5 and 6 is defined as the right.
[0043] The terminal fitting 60 of the second embodiment is a single component formed by bending a metal plate that has been punched into a predetermined shape. The terminal fitting 60 has a front-to-back symmetrical shape. The terminal fitting 60 is electrically connected to a first circuit board (not shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 ) by soldering (not shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 ).
[0044] The terminal fitting 60 has a terminal connection portion 61 and a board connection portion 65. The terminal connection portion 61 includes a pair of left and right flat plate portions 62, 63 that overlap parallel to each other with their plate thickness oriented in the left-right direction, and a bent portion 64 that connects the upper edges of the pair of flat plate portions 62, 63. The pair of flat plate portions 62, 63 includes a first flat plate portion 62 and a second flat plate portion 63 located on the right side of the first flat plate portion 62.
[0045] The board connection portion 65 has an insertion base 66, a pair of front and rear folded portions 67, a first protrusion 68, and a second protrusion 74. The insertion base 66 is a flat plate-like portion that extends downward from the lower edge of the first flat plate portion 62, forming a flush surface with the first flat plate portion 62. The pair of front and rear folded portions 67 are flat plate-like portions that are folded back to the right from both front and rear end edges of the insertion base 66 and overlap the right side surface of the insertion base 66.
[0046] The first protrusion 68 is a portion formed by hammering out the center portion of the upper end of the insertion base 66 in the front-to-rear direction toward the left (the opposite side of the folded portion 67 in the left-to-right direction). The first protrusion 68 has a front surface 69, a rear surface 70, a top surface 71, and a side surface 72. The front surface 69 and the rear surface 70 are portions that individually protrude leftward from positions spaced apart in the front-to-rear direction on the left outer surface of the insertion base 66. The top surface 71 connects the upper edges of the front surface 69 and the rear surface 70. The side surface 72 connects the left edges of the front surface 69, the rear surface 70, and the top surface 71. The lower surface of the first protrusion 68 functions as a first abutment surface 73 that abuts in surface contact with the mounting surface of the first circuit board (not shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 ).
[0047] The second protrusions 74 are cantilevered portions extending to the right (opposite the insertion base 66 in the left-right direction) from the upper edges of the front and rear folded portions 67. The lower surfaces of the second protrusions 74 function as second abutment surfaces 75 that abut in a surface-to-surface contact state against the mounting surface of the first circuit board. The first abutment surface 73 and the second abutment surface 75 are set at the same height.
[0048] When mounting the terminal fitting 60 on the first circuit board, the board connecting portion 65 of the terminal fitting 60 is temporarily held against the first circuit board, which is positioned horizontally with the first mounting surface facing upward. In this temporarily held state, the insertion portion (insertion base 66 and folded portion 67) is inserted into the through-hole (not shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 ). When the insertion portion is inserted into the through-hole, the first abutment surface 73 of the first protrusion 68 and the second abutment surface 75 of the second protrusion 74 abut against the first mounting surface in a face-to-face contact state. This abutment holds the terminal fitting 60 at a predetermined height relative to the first circuit board, and maintains a constant insertion depth of the first and second insertion portions into the through-hole.
[0049] The first protrusion 68 and the second protrusion 74 protrude from the board connection portion 65 in opposite directions in the left-right direction. Because the first protrusion 68 and the second protrusion 74 are spaced apart in the left-right direction, there is no risk of the terminal fitting 60 tilting left-right. In a plan view, the insertion portion has an elongated shape in the front-to-back direction, so there is no risk of the terminal fitting 60 tilting forward or backward relative to the first circuit board. Therefore, simply by inserting the board connection portion 65 into the through-hole, the terminal fitting 60 can stand on its own with a stable posture and height without the use of any additional components. Thereafter, with the terminal fitting 60 temporarily held on the first circuit board, the through-hole and the insertion portion are soldered to be electrically conductive.
[0050] The terminal fitting 60 of Example 2 has a terminal connection portion 61, a board connection portion 65, and a first protrusion 68 and a second protrusion 74 formed to face a first circuit board (not shown). The first protrusion 68 and the second protrusion 74 abut against the first circuit board, thereby restricting the tilt of the terminal connection portion 61 relative to the first circuit board and restricting the insertion depth of the board connection portion 65 into the through-hole to a fixed depth. The terminal fitting 60 of Example 2 prevents the terminal fitting 60 from tilting relative to the first circuit board and from being excessively inserted into the through-hole before the board connection portion 65 is fixed to the first circuit board by soldering. The terminal fitting 60 of Example 2 allows the terminal fitting 60 to stand independently on the first circuit board before the terminal fitting 60 is fixed to the first circuit board by soldering.
[0051] Other Embodiments The present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above and illustrated in the drawings, but is defined by the claims. The present invention includes all modifications equivalent to the claims and within the scope of the claims, including the following embodiments. The positional relationship between the first circuit board and the second circuit board is not limited to a parallel arrangement, and the second circuit board may be slightly tilted relative to the first circuit board. In Examples 1 and 2, the protrusion may be formed at a location other than the board connection portion. In Example 1, the protrusion may protrude on the same side as the folded portion. In Example 1, the folded portion may be folded back from the insertion base portion only on one of the pair of insertion portions. In Example 1, both the first insertion portion and the second insertion portion may be bent. In Example 1, the first protrusion formed on the first insertion portion may be cantilevered from the first insertion portion. In Example 1, the second protrusion formed on the second insertion portion may be formed by hammering out a portion of the second insertion portion.
