AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing sausage-making devices for forming links in mass production suffer from casing rupture due to pincer scratching and require retooling for different sausage sizes, leading to system failures, increased maintenance, and reduced production capacity.

Method used

A compact, low-maintenance apparatus with synchronized pincer gears and beams that rotate in a conical motion, applying pressure smoothly and adjusting to various sausage sizes without interrupting production, using a single control element and minimizing casing contact.

Benefits of technology

The apparatus reduces casing rupture and maintenance costs while enabling high-speed, flexible production of uniform sausage links without retooling, ensuring consistent sizing and efficient operation.

Abstract

The present disclosure provides a mechanical system for portioning a sausage string by forming links while continuously feeding the sausage string through the portioning apparatus. The portioning apparatus includes pincers that rotate and interleave for a portion of the rotation and apply pressure while interleaved to the sausage string thereby forming a link. The pincers face substantially towards each other while rotating. The pincers are configured to be at an angle when they are in an open position compared to when they are in a closed position.
