Abstract

The invention relates to a single-screw machine comprising a housing (1) having a gas inlet (11), a gas outlet (12), and walls (13) that define an internal chamber (14). A central screw (2) and at least one star rotor (3) are accommodated in the internal chamber (14). The central screw (2) has a screw shaft (21) about which the central screw is rotatably mounted in the housing (1) by means of ceramic rolling bearings (22), and each star rotor (3) has a star-rotor shaft (31) about which it is rotatably mounted in the housing (1) by means of ceramic rolling bearings (32). The central screw (2) comprises a magnetic coupling (4) having a plurality of magnets (41) which are arranged around the screw shaft (21). The central screw (2) and the star rotors (3), together with the screw shaft (21), the star-rotor shafts (31), the ceramic rolling bearings (22, 32), and the magnetic coupling (4), are accommodated entirely within the common internal chamber (14).
