AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing lubricants, both mineral-based and bio-based, degrade due to thermal action, leading to contamination and environmental pollution, and those used in cosmetics lack biocompatibility and pleasant odors, necessitating frequent replacement and disposal, which is costly and harmful.

Method used

Transesterification of waste oils of biological origin, such as used cooking oils, with terpene alcohols like L-menthol, in the presence of catalysts, to produce lubricants with pleasant scents and biocompatible properties suitable for cosmetics.

Benefits of technology

Transforms waste oils into scented lubricants suitable for cosmetics, maintaining lubricating properties while reducing environmental impact and production costs, ensuring biocompatibility and pleasant odors.

Abstract

A process for the production of lubricants for cosmetic use is described. According to the present invention, waste oils of biological origin are transesterified with terpene alcohols. From an economic point of view, these waste oils are advantageously chosen from used cooking oils (UCO) and / or reclaimed used cooking oils (RUCO). Preferably, said terpene alcohols are chosen from the group consisting of menthol, geraniol, citronellol, nerolidol, linalool.
