Abstract
An electronically controllable in-piston valve assembly is provided. The in-piston valve assembly comprises a piston; and an electrically conductive coil located externally to the piston. The piston comprises: a magnetically conductive portion; and an electronically controllable valve comprising an armature. The armature is configured to have a force exerted thereon acting in a direction of a valve open position or a valve closed position when the electrically conductive coil is in an active state depending on a magnetic field generated in a magnetic circuit comprising at least part of the armature and at least part of the magnetically conductive portion of the piston.
