Description

[0001] BATTERY MODULE TRANSPORTATION FIXTURE

[0002] Technical Field :

[0003] The present invention relates to a battery module transportation f ixture for the production of batteries used in electric vehicles , aiming to reali ze the transportation of battery modules between processes in the assembly line with maximum ef ficiency and in line with the speci fic needs of the processes to be applied .

[0004] State of the Art :

[0005] Batteries are devices that allow electrical energy to be stored and used when needed .

[0006] Battery cells are devices in which negative and positive electrodes conduct a chemical reaction with electrolytes .

[0007] Battery modules consist of many battery cells connected in groups .

[0008] Cell groups consisting of 18 , 24 , or 36 cell arrays are commonly used for battery modules .

[0009] Battery modules made of battery cells are first placed in cassette boxes , followed by protective outer cases .

[0010] Batteries used in electric vehicles go through many processes before being finali zed, such as tab cutting, tab bending, gluing to secure the cells , insulation, mechanical support , and foam application for vibration absorption . Battery cells and battery modules are transported to the units on the production line that perform these processes by placing them in transportation fixtures.

[0011] However, currently, the number of cells changes, different transportation fixtures are used for each cell group since the module sizes vary. For example, different transportation fixtures are used for each cell group, which consists of 18, 24, and 36 cell arrays.

[0012] Transportation fixtures, on the other hand, are fixed structures that are separate to each processing unit.

[0013] The Object of the Invention:

[0014] The invention aims to enable the transportation of various battery modules consisting of 18, 24, 36, etc. cell arrays using a single fixture, eliminating the need to use different fixtures for each battery module.

[0015] Another object of the invention is to provide safe transportation of cell modules to processing units via a single fixture, thanks to its modular structure and handles.

[0026] 1.5. Fixture base

[0027] 1.6. Fixture handle

[0028] Description of the Invention:

[0029] The inventive battery module transportation fixture (1) comprises, within its structure, a movable jaw (1.2) , which is moved to the required position by an automatic system independent of the fixture based on the size of the module to ensure the transportation of battery modules with different cell arrangement groups; a fixed aw (1.1) , which is positioned opposite the movable jaw (1.2) , restricting the battery modules in the area where they are placed and preventing their movement; a module lower stand group (1.3) , holding the battery modules, and the fixture base (1.5) , which is a component of the battery module transportation fixture (1) that contacts the conveyor.

[0030] The inventive battery module transportation fixture (1) comprises plate transportation slots (1.4) for transporting the battery module covers together with the battery module transportation fixture (1) .

[0031] The inventive battery module transportation fixture (1) comprises fixture handles (1.6) which enable the battery module transportation fixture (1) to be taken from one line and transported to another line. In this way, flexibility and user-friendliness are provided for the inventive battery module transportation fixture (1) .

[0032] The inventive battery module transportation fixture (1) has been specifically designed to allow three different battery modules having arrays of 18, 24, and 36 which are used in electric vehicles to be transported and integrated onto the assembly line.

[0033] The movable aw (1.2) has indexing pins that allow the battery module to be hung and pulled from the rear into the bushing bearings in the proper position, and a linear carriage and rail mechanism that allows it to slide and center easily.

[0034] In the battery manufacturing process, the battery cells, after being picked up by the gripper, are placed in the battery module transportation fixture (1) , which is stopped by a stopper on a conveyor. According to the size of the module to be inserted, an automatic system independent of the fixture moves the movable jaw (1.2) to the required position and inserts the battery module.

[0035] The fixed jaw (1.1) , located opposite the movable jaw (1.2) , holds the inserted battery module at the other end. In this manner, the battery module is positioned on the lower stand group (1.3) , between the fixed jaw (1.1) and the movable jaw (1.2) , so that its movement is prevented.

[0036] The fixed jaw (1.1) and movable jaw (1.2) of the battery module transportation fixture (1) have insulating material on the surfaces that come into contact with the battery module to prevent short circuits and damage to the parts.

[0037] In order to ensure insulation, the module lower stand group

[0038] (1.3) also contains insulation material. The inventive battery module transportation fixture (1) uses cestamite as an insulation material on the surfaces of the fixed jaw (1.1) , movable aw (1.2) , and module lower stand group (1.3) that come into contact with the battery module.

[0039] The inventive battery module transportation fixture (1) includes adjustment plates (shims) that provide the desired tolerances in the positioning of the battery modules.

[0040] Furthermore, the fixture base (1.5) of the battery module transportation fixture (1) has a wear-resistant pom (polyoxymethylene) material surface that contacts the conveyor to increase conveyor lubricity.

[0041] The battery module transportation fixture (1) , and the diversity of the various processes, also enabled the transportation of three different battery modules with 18, 24, and 36 arrays with a single fixture.

[0042] With the inventive battery module transportation fixture (1) , it is aimed to optimize the workflow in the battery module assembly line, minimize time loss and make the production process more efficient. Meanwhile, it is aimed to transport the battery module to each process in the production line smoothly and safely.
