[0004] In New Radio (NR) mobile communications, a monostatic multi-input multi-output (MIMO) integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system is introduced. In particular, the ISAC system may simultaneously transmit unified orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signals for data communication and environmental sensing, leveraging MIMO techniques to enhance spatial resolution, spectrum efficiency, and situational awareness for some network scenarios and applications (e.g., vehicular networks and surveillance) .

[0005] However, in a conventional monostatic MIMO ISAC system, the entire available frequency bandwidth may be allocated to sensing operations, which may lead to a substantial reduction in communication throughput, as the spatial multiplexing gain and beamforming capabilities essential for high data rate transmission are severely compromised. Moreover, high-resolution sensing (e.g., four-dimension sensing) , which includes estimation of target range, azimuth angle, elevation angle, and radial velocity, may be very spectral and spatial resources constrained. Although some subcarrier resource allocation schemes have been proposed to balance sensing precision and communication reliability, they often lack efficient mechanisms. In particular, the use of overlapping or fully shared subcarrier sets may introduce significant interference, thereby degrading both sensing accuracy and communication performance.

[0020] Implementations in accordance with the present disclosure relate to various techniques, methods, schemes and / or solutions pertaining to Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) system using sparse resource blocks with respect to apparatus in mobile communications. According to the present disclosure, a number of possible solutions may be implemented separately or jointly. That is, although these possible solutions may be described below separately, two or more of these possible solutions may be implemented in one combination or another.

[0021] First, it is to be understood that the detection of surrounding target objects, including objects and humans, through signal delay measurement and Doppler shift detection may be a technique commonly utilized in radar engineering. In particular, in a radar sensing system, one or more transmitters are configured to transmit a plurality of radio waves, and one or more receivers are configured to receive reflected radio waves. Based on the received reflected radio waves, one or more characteristics of the surrounding target objects may be determined, including but not limited to distances, azimuth angles, elevation angles, and / or velocities of the target objects.

[0025] FIG. 1 illustrates an example scenario 100 under schemes in accordance with implementations of the present disclosure. In some network scenarios (e.g., scenarios in which a monostatic MIMO ISAC system is deployed) , an apparatus (e.g., a user equipment (UE) or a network node such as a base station) may be referred to as an ISAC node. It should be noted that in FIG. 1, the ISAC node is depicted as a UE for illustration purposes only and is not intended to limit the ISAC node's functionality or role.

Claims

1.A method, comprising:determining, by a processor of an apparatus, a plurality of first subcarrier blocks from a plurality of subcarrier blocks within a first symbol;determining, by the processor, a plurality of first resource element blocks while each first resource element block includes one first subcarrier block of the first symbol; andtransmitting, by the processor, a plurality of first signals over the plurality of first resource element blocks for sensing at least one target, wherein within each first resource element block, resource elements are configured with a cyclic shift port virtualization associated with at least one of cyclic shift diversity and transmit antenna (TX) dependent phase rotations.2.The method of Claim 1, wherein within each subcarrier block, subcarriers are consecutive.3.The method of Claim 1, further comprising:determining, by the processor, a plurality of second resource element blocks while each second resource element block includes a second subcarrier block of a symbol, wherein each second subcarrier block is determined from the plurality of subcarrier block and is exclusive of the plurality of first subcarrier blocks; andtransmitting, by the processor, a plurality of second signals over the plurality of second resource element blocks for communicating with another apparatus.4.The method of Claim 1, further comprising:receiving, by the processor, the plurality of first signals reflected by the at least one target; anddetermining, by the processor, parameters associated with the at least one target by performing Doppler compression and two-dimension angle estimation, wherein the parameters include at least one of a range parameter, a velocity parameter, an azimuth angle parameter and an elevation angle parameter.5.The method of Claim 1, wherein transmitting the plurality of first signals over the plurality of first resource element blocks for sensing the at least one target further comprises:transmitting, by the processor, the plurality of first signals over the plurality of first resource element blocks for sensing the at least one target and broadcasting data.6.The method of Claim 5, wherein the data is broadcasted by a plurality of antenna subarrays selected from a plurality of transmit antennas.7.The method of Claim 6, wherein each of the plurality of antenna subarrays includes a Uniform Linear Array (ULA) .8.The method of Claim 1, wherein the plurality of first subcarrier blocks is determined from the plurality of subcarrier blocks by:selecting, by the processor, a set of subcarrier blocks from the plurality of subcarrier blocks;determining, by the processor, a delay Point Spread Function (PSF) of the set of subcarrier blocks;determining, by the processor, a Half Power Bandwidth (HPBW) of a mainlobe and a Peak Sidelobe Level (PSL) of the delay PSF; anddetermining, by the processor, whether the HPBW is within a pre-determined range and the PSL is less than a threshold.9.The method of Claim 8, wherein the plurality of first subcarrier blocks are determined from the plurality of subcarrier blocks by a sequential selection method which comprises:determining, by the processor, the set of subcarrier blocks as the plurality of first subcarrier blocks in an event that the HPBW is within the pre-determined range, the PSL is less than the threshold and a subcarrier block number of the set of subcarrier blocks has a small value; orreselecting, by the processor, another set of subcarrier blocks from the plurality of subcarrier blocks.10.An apparatus, comprising:a transceiver which, during operation, wirelessly communicates with a wireless network; anda processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver such that, during operation, the processor performs operations comprising:determining a plurality of first subcarrier blocks from a plurality of subcarrier blocks within a first symbol;determining a plurality of first resource element blocks while each first resource element block includes one first subcarrier block of the first symbol; andtransmitting, via the transceiver, a plurality of first signals over the plurality of first resource element blocks for sensing at least one target, wherein within each first resource element block, resource elements are configured with a cyclic shift port virtualization associated with at least one of cyclic shift diversity and transmit antenna (TX) dependent phase rotations.11.The apparatus of Claim 10, wherein within each subcarrier block, subcarriers are consecutive.12.The apparatus of Claim 10, wherein, during operation, the processor further performs operation comprises:determining, by the processor, a plurality of second resource element blocks while each second resource element block includes a second subcarrier block of a symbol, wherein each second subcarrier block is determined from the plurality of subcarrier block and is exclusive of the plurality of first subcarrier blocks; andtransmitting, via the transceiver, a plurality of secon
