Description

[0001] DYNAMIC ACTION C-SHAPED WRENCH

[0002] Field of Invention

[0003] The present invention belongs to the technical field of tools, and in particular relates to an adjustable C-wrench for use on different hexagonal nuts or fasteners.

[0004] Background of the Invention

[0005] Conventional C-shaped wrenches, in order to be used, must be constantly attached and detached to perform the rotary movement of the hexagonal nuts or fasteners.

[0006] An example of a C-shaped wrench that does not require the wrench to be separated from the nut is patent application KR20200117946. This patent describes a tool that improves productivity because it eliminates the need to remove the wrench from the bolt or nut during the tightening process. The wrench consists of a head unit to which the fastener is attached, a handle, and a neck unit that connects the head unit to the handle.

[0007] Another example is document KR20170124420 (published on November 10, 2017), which details a wrench comprising a body including a handle and an opening having a round inner circumferential surface, and having a plurality of sliding grooves formed in said opening, and having one end coupled with a spring mounted in the sliding groove and the other end connected to a lateral edge of a bolt or nut, and a sliding jaw arranged so as to be partially exposed from the sliding groove in a state in which no external force is applied. The insertion direction of the sliding jaw in the sliding groove may be a direction that deviates from a direction of centrifugal force when the bolt or nut rotates.

[0008] Document KR20090084337 (published on August 5, 2009) provides a self-adjusting wrench that improves clamping force by making contact with three sides of a bolt or nut (100). The disclosed wrench comprises a wrench body, a fixed part (20), a movable part (30), and a three-sided contact element (40). The movable part (30) is received in the groove and engages with the pinion via a rack (33). The three-sided contact element (40) is engaged on one side of the groove in the head and has a pressure surface on one side (42a). When the pressure surface (42a) is tightened with the bolt or nut (100), the third contact is established.

[0009] The present utility model invention, as defined in the claims, relates to a C-shaped wrench that fits different hexagonal nuts or fasteners, allowing the tightening or loosening of said hexagonal nuts or fasteners, using a plurality of movable gripping elements that grip or engage the side faces of a new or damaged hexagonal nut or fastener, thereby reducing the possibility of slippage.

[0015] Detailed description of the invention

[0016] This utility model relates to a C-shaped wrench used to tighten or loosen a new or damaged hexagonal nut, or fastener.

[0017] Over time, the side corners of a hexagonal nut can become worn or damaged, reducing the grip of its side faces and causing slippage when loosening or tightening the nut with a tool. This utility model overcomes this problem by using a plurality of movable gripping elements (Fig. 4). Each movable gripping element (Fig. 4) is positioned to grip or engage the side face of a nut or fastener, initiating rotation and, consequently, the removal or tightening of a new or damaged nut or fastener. The C-wrench has the advantage of preventing wear and damage to the nut or fastener.

[0018] Furthermore, the C-wrench is compatible with both right-hand and left-hand threaded nuts and fasteners. The C-wrench can also be configured to accommodate different types and sizes of nuts and fasteners. The length, width, and diameter of the C-wrench, along with the movable gripping elements (Fig. 4), can be adjusted to fit various nut and fastener sizes.

[0019] Due to the C-shaped wrench system, the four movable gripping elements (Fig4) have a certain degree of accommodation on a nut or fastener, and can be used with similar or close measurements, for example, whether metric or imperial, for a 9 or 11 wrench or even a 3 / 8 wrench.

[0020] Being a C-shaped wrench, it allows fitting in places where it is not possible to use a closed wrench, for example, on supply hoses that fit into hexagonal ends or when rotating a nut on a bolt with a larger gauge head.

[0021] With reference to Figure 3, the present invention relates to a C-shaped wrench comprising a head (8) at one end and a handle (9) at the other, and within the head (8) are located 4 movable gripping elements (Fig. 4). Each movable gripping element (Fig. 4) in turn comprises: a rounded portion (2), a flat portion (3), a pivot (4), a pin (7), and a blade (5).

[0022] The rounded portion (2) of the movable gripping element (Fig. 4) slides along the edges of a hexagonal nut, allowing it to retract. The flat portion (3) of the movable gripping element (Fig. 4) acts as a fulcrum against the faces of the hexagonal nut. The pivot (4) and pin (7) of the movable gripping element (Fig. 4) allow the hexagonal nut to retract as it passes over the rounded portion (2) and the flat portion (3). The leaf (5) of the movable gripping element (Fig. 4) acts as a spring, allowing the gripping element (Fig. 4) to be moved and returned to its original position.

[0023] The C-wrench operates as follows: the movable gripping elements (Fig. 4) located on the head (8) are positioned around a hexagonal nut. Rotating the handle (9) counterclockwise causes the corners of the nut to rest against the rounded portion (2) of the movable gripping elements (Fig. 4), and the pivot (4) allows the gripping elements (Fig. 4) to bend or retract. Continuing to rotate the handle (9) of the C-wrench positions the flat portion (3) of the gripping elements (Fig. 4) against the sides of the nut, shifting it to a new position and thus enabling rotation.

[0024] The C-wrench is characterized by its dual torque system. The first torque is applied by rotating the handle (9) of the C-wrench, and the second torque is applied by the movable gripping elements (Fig. 4) when the rounded portion (2) or the flat portion (3) of each gripping element (Fig. 4) engages with the sides of a hexagonal nut. The engagement of the movable gripping elements (Fig. 4) on a pivot (4) allows for their rotational movement around the nut. This creates a continuous and fluid motion with the C-wrench, enabling operation with minimal effort and eliminating unnecessary repetitive actions, such as repeatedly disengaging and reattaching the C-wrench.

[0025] The force exerted on the body of the C-shaped wrench is enhanced when transmitted to the four movable gripping elements (Fig4), due to the pivot system (4) that each movable gripping element has (Fig4), thus producing greater torque on the nuts.

[0026] With regard to Figures 2 and 3, the following parts are detailed: element (1) Represents the straight part that rests on a hardened steel plate, which serves as a spring to allow the movement of the element - the movable grip - and return it to its original position; element (2) Curved part on which the edges of the nut slide, to allow its retraction when rotating on the axis; element (3) Straight part that forms the support point on the nut, creating a ratchet system to perform the rotary movement, this is done when turning the wrench in the opposite direction, allowing the tooth to come out through the pivot system and hardened steel plate that places it back in its determined position, thus managing to fit on four sides of the hexagonal nut; element (4) Pivot point and anchoring point of the teeth that allow their retraction and extension as the nut passes over it.allowing the teeth to retract when the wrench is rotated on the nut, but when the opposite rotation is performed, the teeth extend and create a gripping system on the nut, locking it in place. This allows the nut to rotate on the vector axis. Element (5) is the blade that allows the teeth to retract and return to the predetermined position, depending on the direction the wrench is turned on the nut, thus creating a torsion system. Element (6) is the piece that holds the blade, which functions as a spring. Element (7) is the tool head, and element (8) is the tool handle.

[0027] The movable gripping element is shown in greater detail in Figure 4.
