[0008] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION As is well known, one of the most commonly used supports for painting pictures is a canvas stretched over a frame, usually rectangular or square, which keeps it taut. Until now, this frame has typically been made from four wooden strips joined at their ends to form the corners.
[0009] Frames are currently sold in a wide variety of shapes (rectangular, square, oval, round, etc.) and sizes, and you can even order a custom-made frame.
[0010] The problem is that the larger the frames, the more expensive they are, reaching very high prices. Custom-made frames are also very expensive compared to standard-sized frames.
[0011] The main objective of the present invention is to create different sizes of modules that fit together, in order to make a frame of the desired size, such as a custom-made or large-format frame, at a more economical cost.
[0012] Furthermore, another problem with current frames is that, once the frame is assembled and the canvas is attached, although the latter can be removed from the frame to pack it rolled up and transport or store it well protected, for example, by gallery owners to exhibit and then sell the paintings, the frame cannot be disassembled into small pieces that can be easily stored or transported.

The present invention proposes a frame that can be disassembled into smaller modules, thereby facilitating both domestic and international shipping by reducing international transaction costs for galleries, collectors, and artists.
[0015] One of the essential objectives of the present invention is, therefore, to provide the market with an improved type of frame that avoids both problems, being much more versatile for artists when choosing the shape and sizes of their paintings and also much more practical and cheaper for their storage and transport, especially considering that currently commercial globalization means that products may have to travel great distances and the volumes of the packages are a decisive factor when determining their costs.
[0016] In turn, there is also the problem of fixing the canvas to the frame that defines the stretcher frame, for which, until now, staples incorporated on the back of the stretcher frame are usually used, so that they lock the canvas and are nailed into the material of the stretcher frame, which is normally made of wood.
[0017] This requires the use of a stapling tool that allows the staple points to be driven through the fabric and the frame material with enough force so that they do not come out of place when the fabric is tightened on the opposite side.

[0021] Furthermore, and with reference to the current state of the art, it should be noted that, at least as far as the applicant is concerned, there is no knowledge of any other modular frame for painting canvases, nor any other invention of similar application, that presents technical and structural characteristics equal or similar to those claimed herein.

[0023] The modular frame for painting canvases proposed by the invention is configured as an optimal solution to the objectives indicated above, which, at the same time, represents an improvement over the current state of the art, with the characterizing details that make it possible and that distinguish it being conveniently included in the final claims that accompany this description.
[0024] Specifically, what the invention proposes, as previously mentioned, is a canvas frame for painting, intended to constitute the support structure that shapes and keeps taut the fabric of the canvases used for painting pictures, which is distinguished essentially by the fact that it is made up of a series of modular pieces structurally designed so that they are easily coupled together, preferably without the need for the use of glues, tools or anchoring elements for this purpose, and in such a way that, from the different types of pieces it comprises, straight, angled or even curved, it allows the construction of the frame in different formats, as desired, depending on the type, number and / or position of the pieces used in each case.

CLAIMS 1 Modular frame for painting canvases, characterized by comprising a plurality of modular pieces (2), identical or different, which are all easily coupled and uncoupled from each other, by means of joining means (3) provided at their respective ends, to achieve the construction and disassembly of a frame, with or without reinforcing crossbars, forming a frame (1) with different formats and / or dimensions, as desired, depending on the type, number and / or position of the pieces (2) used in each case. 2.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 1, characterized in that, as modular pieces (2), it comprises straight linear section pieces (2.1). 3.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that, as modular pieces (2), it comprises curved linear section pieces (2.2).
4. Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 2, characterized in that the linear section pieces comprising it are all straight (2.1) to form a rectangular or square frame.
5. Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 3, characterized in that the linear section pieces comprising it are all curved (2.2) to form a circular frame enclosure.

Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claims 2 and 3, characterized in that it comprises a combination of straight (2.1) and curved (2.2) linear section pieces, to form a frame with straight and curved sections. 7.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that it further comprises confluence pieces (2') to connect two or more linear section pieces to each other.
8. Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 7, characterized in that It comprises L-shaped angled confluence pieces (2.3) for connecting two straight linear span pieces (2.1) and forming right-angle corners.
9. Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 7 or 8, characterized in that it comprises T-shaped angled confluence pieces (2.4), to connect three straight linear section pieces (2.1) at intersection points between the sides of the frame and the reinforcing crossbars.

Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 7 to 9, characterized in that it comprises cross-shaped angled confluence pieces (2.5), for connecting four straight linear section pieces (2, 1) at the junction between two perpendicular reinforcing crossbars. 11.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 7 to 10, characterized in that it comprises confluence pieces in the form of an arc segment (2.6), to connect two curved linear section pieces (2.2), and form a circular frame or a frame of other shapes that combine straight (2.1) and curved (2.2) linear section pieces. 12.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that all the modular pieces (2) are of the same size. 13.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of the previous claims, characterized in that the joining means (3) provided at the ends of the modular pieces (2) for coupling them are tongue and groove fitting means, based on complementary recesses (3.1) and projections (3.2). 14.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 12, characterized in that the joining means (3) are adjusted and fixed together by pressure. 15.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 13 or 14, characterized in that the joining means (3) include wicks (3.3) or locking bolts. 16.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of the claims previous, characterized in that the modular pieces (2) that define the perimeter fence, that is, the pieces of straight linear sections (2.1) or curves (2.2) and, where applicable, the pieces of confluence in L (2.3) and in T (2.4), have a cross section whose profile defines a raised relief (2.7) on the outer edge of the same with a drop towards the center, so that the canvas (4), once placed on the frame (1), is only in contact with it through said raised relief (2.7). 17.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that all the modular pieces (2) are internally hollow (2.8). 18.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that, to fix the edges of the canvas (4) to the frame defined by the modular pieces (2), it comprises main fastening pieces (6) of U-section dimensioned to fit snugly, by means of their pressure clipping, to the back of said modular pieces (2).

Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 18, characterized in that the main fastening pieces (6) are dimensioned in their lateral branches (6.1) and central section (6.2) to be coupled, respectively, between the rear face (2b), the inner face (2c) and the front face (2a) of the modular piece (2), or between the outer face (2d), the rear face (2b) and the inner face (2c); and in that both lateral branches (6.1) are equal or of different lengths. 20.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 18 or 19, characterized in that the main fastening pieces (6) comprise one or two or more internal protrusions (6.3) which, like claws, fit into grooves (2e) made complementarily in the modular pieces (2).
21. Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 18 to 20, characterized in that the main fastening pieces (6) are long segments, the length of which covers all or almost all of a linear section of the frame (1).
22. Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 18 to 20, characterized in that the main fastening pieces (6) are medium or small segments, whose length covers only a short portion of a section of the frame (1). 23.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 18 to 22, characterized in that it also comprises additional fastening pieces (60) for fixing the edge of the canvas (4) in areas of the frame (1) that include confluence pieces (2') either T-shaped or L-shaped.

Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 23, characterized in that said additional fastening pieces (60) have, emerging perpendicularly from a flat base (60.1), a triangular protrusion (60.2) and a tongue (60.3) perforated with a window (60.4), which fit, respectively, into a groove (20) and into a recess (21) provided with an inner protrusion (22), provided additionally in the confluence piece (2').
25. Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 18 to 24, characterized in that the main fastening pieces (6) and, where applicable, the additional fastening pieces (60) include one or more nailing points (60.5) to facilitate better fixation of the canvas (4).

Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 18 to 25, characterized in that the main fastening pieces (6) and, where applicable, the additional fastening pieces (60) are fixed to the modular pieces (2) or to the confluence pieces (2') associated with a second anchoring element (9) provided with a tab (9,1) intended to pull it and facilitate the extraction of the assembly. 27.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 26, characterized in that said second anchoring element (9) forms an integral part of the fastening piece itself (6, 60).

Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 26 or 27, characterized in that the second anchoring element (9) has, at its distal end, a perforation suitable for the insertion of a hook (10) provided for this purpose as a component of the frame (1) to remove the canvas (4). 29.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claims 15 and 28, characterized in that said hook (10) is an elongated piece, in the form of a rod, which has a functional shape (10.1) at one end for stretching or levering and a cylindrical point (10.2) at the opposite end, designed and dimensioned to facilitate the extraction of the wicks (3.3) comprising the joining means (3). 30.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that it also comprises one or more hanging elements (7) which, formed by a piece with a ring (7.1) suitable for inserting a hook, is inserted under pressure into holes (8) made for this purpose in the modular pieces (2) or in the confluence pieces (2').

Modular frame for painting canvases, according to claim 30, characterized in that the pieces that make up the hanging elements (7) have a cylindrical configuration which, at the end opposite the ring (7.1), has a truncated conical shape (7.2) provided with a retention step (7.3) and expansion cut (7.4), suitable for penetrating and locking into the hole (8). 32.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 17 to 31, characterized in that it comprises extension segments (12), dimensioned to be inserted into intermediate modular pieces (2”) with a hollow interior (2,8) and extend the extension of the frame. 33.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of claims 7 to 32, characterized in that some confluence pieces (2') comprise hinges (13) which, by means of an axle (14), allow the frame (1) to be mounted with two hinged frames. 34.- Modular frame for painting canvases, according to any of the claims above, characterized in that all the modular pieces (2) and, where applicable, the confluence modular pieces (2'), the intermediate modular pieces (2”), the main clamping pieces (6) or the additional clamping pieces (60) are made of recycled plastic.
