Abstract
Description
[0001] A SYSTEM FOR PACKAGING PRODUCTS
[0002] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0003] FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The present invention concerns the technical sector relating to the packaging of products for pharmaceutical use, or for parapharmaceutical, cosmetic or food use, in respective packs, such as for example blister packs or stickpacks, or respective containers, such as bottles, tubes or syringes, destined then to be inserted into respective boxes.
[0005] In particular, the invention concerns a system for packaging products comprising a carton boxing machine, in which the packs or containers of products, singly or grouped in a group, are inserted in respective boxes, and a direct or indirect marking machine arranged downstream of the carton boxing machine, in which information reporting indications on the special type of the products present in the boxes is applied on the boxes themselves, for example directly by printing (for example by ink-jet or laser printing) information on the boxes, or indirectly by application of labels, or other supports, on which that information is present.
[0006] DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
[0007] A known packaging system (N) of products, comprising a carton boxing machine (MA) for inserting packs or containers of products internally of respective boxes, and a direct or indirect marking machine (MM) for applying directly on the boxes, for example by printing, information indicative of the type of products present internally thereof, or for applying, on the boxes, supports such as, for example, labels, on which the information is included, is illustrated for example in figures 1A, 1 B, 1 C.
[0008] In this known packaging system the carton boxing machine (MA) is configured to receive the packs, or containers from a forming and filling machine (F) arranged upstream, for example a forming machine of a celled belt and for filling the celled belt and for the separation of the celled belt for obtaining a series of blister packs containing, internally thereof, respective products, such as, for example tablets, and comprises a first transport means (OT1 ) having a plurality of seats (S1 ) each of which is conformed to receive and transport respective single boxes internally thereof.
[0009] For example, the first transport means (OT1 ) can comprise a closed and loopwound belt having a series of walls or teeth defining between them a respective seat (S1 ) for the transport of a respective box.
[0010] The carton boxing machine (MA) is configured to insert packs, or containers, of products, or a group of packs, or containers, of products, internally of respective boxes (A) during advancement thereof in the seats (S1 ) of the first transport means (T1 ) and for closing the two heads of the boxes (A) by folding (and possibly gluing) the flaps therein present.
[0011] Consecutively to the first transport means (OT1 ) of the carton boxing machine (MA), a conveyor device (DT) is present, which conveys the various boxes (A) received from the respective seats (S1 ) of the first transport means (OT1 ) and arranges them in accumulation on a first conveyor belt (TN1 ) arranged downstream of the outlet of the carton boxing machine (MA).
[0012] The boxes (A) in outlet from the carton boxing machine (MA) are then arranged substantially in a row, one behind another on the first conveyor belt (TN1 ).
[0013] Laterally to the first conveyor belt (TN1 ) there can be a checking station of the closure of the flaps of the boxes, with a possibility of rejection if the flaps have not been correctly closed. The first conveyor belt (TN1 ) transfers one box (A) at a time (being the box arranged at the head of the row of boxes accumulated on the first conveyor belt) to a control station (W) of the weight of the boxes (A), comprising a balance or a weighing cell.
[0014] Once weighed, the single boxes (A), if not rejected as the weight detected does not conform with a reference weight, are transferred onto a second conveyor belt (TN2) arranged consecutively to the control station (W) of the weight and upstream of the inlet of the marking machine (MM).
[0015] The weighed boxes, and having a conforming weight, are then accumulated one following the next on the second conveyor belt (TN2).
[0016] The marking machine (MM) in turn comprises a second transport means (OT2) having a plurality of seats (S2), each of which being conformed to receive and transport a respective box (A) to a marking device, configured for example to print, directly on the boxes, information reporting indications on the special type of the products present in the boxes, or a device configured to apply labels or other information supports on the single boxes, reporting the information relative to the type of products contained internally thereof.
[0017] The various boxes accumulated on the second conveyor belt (TN2) are then transferred, one at a time, into a respective seat (S2) of the second transport means (OT2) of the marking machine (MM) in such a way that the marking device can apply thereon a relative label or other information support, or can print the information directly onto the boxes.
[0018] In this sector, given the particular type of products, which are often identifiable with relative codes representative of the relative chemical, physiological characteristics, etc., the need is increasingly felt to be able to keep track of the packs or containers of products once packed internally of respective boxes so that it is possible to apply, to a particular box, information inherent to a given type of packs or containers of products present internally thereof.
[0019] In this regard, the carton boxing machine (MA) comprises a first management and control unit (U1 ) of the advancement of the boxes (A) present in the various seats (S1 ) of the first transport means (OT1 ) which is configured to keep track of the position of a given box (A) present in a respective seat (S1 ) of the first transport means (OT1 ) during the advancement thereof towards the outlet of the carton boxing machine (MA).
[0020] In this regard, the first management and control unit (U1 ) is configured to control the driving means (D1 ) of the first transport means (OT 1 ).
[0021] The carton boxing machine (MA) further comprises a detection unit (V) for detecting information codes present in the various packs or containers of products and for detecting tracking codes applied on the boxes (A), once filled with respective packs or containers of products, which identify the various information codes of the packs or containers of products inserted therein.
[0022] The first management and control unit (U1 ) is in communication with the detection units (V) and is configured to receive the information relative to the various information codes of the packs or containers of products such as the information relating to the various tracking codes applied on the boxes.
[0023] In this way, the first management and control unit (U1 ), by controlling the driving means (D1 ) of the first transport means (OT1 ), knows, and thus can provide, an information on the precise position of a given box (A) in a respective seat (S1 ) of the first transport means (OT1 ) on which a given tracking code is present, reporting information on particular products contained internally thereof. A second management and control unit (U2) is present in the marking machine (MM) which unit is configured to manage and control the driving means (D2) of the second transport means (OT2) in such a way as to be able to know the position of a given box (A), which is to be marked by application of relative information, once it has been inserted into a respective seat (S2) of the second transport means (OT2) during advancement thereof.
[0024] However, in this known packaging system (N), given the presence of the first conveyor belt (TN1 ) at the outlet of the carton boxing machine (MA) and the second conveyor belt (TN2) immediately upstream of the inlet of the marking machine (MM), on which the boxes containing the packs or containers of products accumulate, one following another, the information relative to the tracking of the position of the boxes during transport thereof into the carton boxing machine (MA), which are managed by the first management and control unit (U1 ), cannot be directly used by the second management and control unit (U2) present in the marking machine (MM) to identify the position of a given box on which corresponding respective information is to be applied, relative to the particular type of products contained internally thereof.
[0025] In fact, the accumulation, one following another, of the various boxes on the first conveyor belt (TN1 ) in outlet from the carton boxing machine (MA), as well as the accumulation, one following another, of the various boxes on the second conveyor belt (TN2) upstream of the inlet of the marking machine (MM), determines the impossibility of keeping track on and following the position of the various boxes in a distinguishable way with respect to one another during transfer thereof from the carton boxing machine (MA) to the marking machine (MM).
[0026] In other words, with this configuration of the known packaging system, tracking of the position is lost that, time by time, a given box containing packs or containers of a particular type of products assumes during transfer thereof from the carton boxing machine to the labelling machine.
[0027] A solution that has been actuated regarding this issue consisted in applying on the boxes in outlet from the carton boxing machine (MA) a corresponding additional information indicating the contents thereof, for example of the number of packs or containers of products contained therein as well as the particular type of these products.
[0028] Further, it was necessary to install special reading devices (FL) in the marking machine (MM), configured for reading the additional information applied on the various boxes in such a way as to transmit the information to the second management and control unit (U2) so that it can then transfer the positions of the boxes in the various seats (S2) of the second transport means (OT2) for containing the marking devices.
[0029] These specifications however involve a greater complexity of management and coordination between the carton boxing machine (MA) and the marking machine (MM), as well as the use of various additional components.
[0030] Further, the configuration of the known packaging system has an overall extension (length) that is quite significant.
[0031] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0032] The aim of the present invention is therefore to describe a novel packaging system for packaging products internally of relative boxes able to obviate the drawbacks present in the prior-art as evidenced.
[0033] In particular, an aim of the invention is to provide a novel packaging system for packaging products internally of relative boxes that is able to effectively maintain the tracking of the boxes during transfer thereof from the carton boxing machine to the marking machine, at the same time reducing the overall extension.
[0034] The above-mentioned advantages are obtained according to the contents of the claims.

[0048] DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS
[0049] With reference to the appended tables of drawings, reference numeral (100) denotes the packaging system for packaging products internally of relative boxes, object of the present invention, in its entirety.
[0050] The packaging system (100), such as for example illustrated in figure 2, comprises a carton boxing machine (1 ) for inserting packs or containers of products internally of respective boxes.
[0051] In this regard, the carton boxing machine (1 ) comprises a first transport means (11 ) having a plurality of seats (12) each of which is conformed to receive and transport respective single boxes (A) internally thereof.
[0052] The carton boxing machine (1 ) is configured to insert packs, or containers, of products (such as for example blister packs, stickpacks, bottles, syringes, tubes, etc), or a group of packs, or containers, of products, received from a forming and filling machine (F) arranged upstream (illustrated in an entirely schematic way by a rectangle in a broken line, as it is not pertinent to the invention), internally of respective boxes (A) during transport thereof in the seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ) and for closing the boxes (A).
[0053] The carton boxing machine (1 ) is configured to apply, on the boxes (A), respective information and tracking codes which are indicative of the type of products that have been inserted internally of the boxes (A) in such a way that a tracking and recognition information is present on each box relating to the products contained therein.
[0054] For example, the forming and filling machine (F) can be constituted by a machine for realising blister packs containing, in the relative respective cells thereof, products (such as, for example, tablets, capsules and the like) starting from heat- formable strips, or for realising, from continuous packing sheets of the stickpack type containing, internally thereof, respective products, for example made in granular or powder form.
[0055] The forming and filling machine can also be constituted by a special machine for filling and closing bottles with respective products in liquid form or for realising and filling tubes with respective products in liquid / paste form.
[0056] The packaging system (100) of the invention is made in such a way as also to comprise: a second transport means (4) having a plurality of seats (41 ), which is arranged consecutively to the first transport means (11 ) of the carton boxing machine (1 ), with each of the seats (41 ) of the second transport means (4) being configured and conformed to receive and transport a respective box (A), containing internally thereof respective packs or containers of products, coming from a respective seat (12) of the first transport means (11 ); and a transfer device (5), which is arranged between a terminal part of the first transport means (11 ) of the carton boxing machine (1 ) and an initial part of the second transport means (4), with the transfer device (5) being configured and activatable to transfer the boxes (A) present in the seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ) into respective seats (41 ) of the second transport means (4).
[0057] Further, as illustrated for example again in figure 2, the packaging system (100) of the invention comprises: a control station (2), for control of the weight of the boxes (A), arranged consecutively to the second transport means (4), configured to receive, in succession, single and distinct boxes (A) from respective seats (41) of the second transport means (4) and to check the weight of the single and distinct boxes (A) and, once the correct weight of the single and distinct boxes (A) has been verified, to transfer the single and distinct boxes (A) downstream; and a marking machine (3), which is arranged consecutively to the control station (2), and comprising a third transport means (31 ) having a plurality of seats (32) configured and conformed for receiving and transporting a corresponding single box (A) coming, after weighing, from the control station (2).
[0058] The marking machine (3) is configured and conformed to apply on the boxes (A) transported into the seats (32) of the third transport means (31 ) corresponding information indicative of the type of products present internally thereof.
[0059] For example, the marking machine (3) can be constituted by a labelling machine realised for applying labels on the boxes, or other types of supports, reporting information relating to the type of products present internally of the boxes, or the marking machine can be configured to apply this information directly on the boxes (for example by ink-jet or laser printing).
[0060] Figure 3 illustrates other special characteristics of the packaging system (100) of the present invention.
[0061] The packaging system (100) comprises at least a detection unit (6) and a single management and control unit (7). The at least a detection unit (6) is configured to detect information and tracking codes applied to the boxes (A), indicative of the type of products contained therein, during the transport of the boxes (A) in respective seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ).
[0062] For example, the at least a detection unit (6) can comprise optical sensors, such as video cameras or laser or infrared sensors, while the information codes applied on the boxes can consist of alphanumeric codes, in barcodes or QR codes, and the like.
[0063] The management and control unit (7) is configured to be communicating (directly or also in wireless mode) with the at least a detection unit (6) for a reciprocal exchange of information, and to be communicating, with the purpose of control and driving thereof, with driving means (10) of the first transport means (11 ), with driving means (50) of the transfer device (5), with driving means (40) of the second transport means (4), with driving means (20) of the control station (2) of the weight of the boxes, and with driving means (30) of the third transport means (31 ).
[0064] The management and control unit (7) is configured and programmed to receive from the at least a detection unit (6) information relative to the information and tracking codes of the boxes (A) present in respective seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ), and is configured to control the driving means (10) of the first transport means (11 ), the driving means (50) of the transfer device (5), the driving means (40) of the second transport means (4), the driving means (20) of the control station (2) of the weight of the boxes, and the driving means (30) of the third transport means (31 ).
[0065] In this way, the management and control unit (7) is able to recognise, and manage information relative to the effective position, and therefore to track, i.e. keep a track on the position in real-time of the various boxes (A) during the transport therof in respective seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ), during the transfer and transport thereof into respective seats (41 ) of the second transport means (4), during the passage thereof into the control station (2) of the weight and during the transfer and transport thereof in respective seats (41 ) of the second transport means (4) and thus keeping a track on the position of the boxes (A) during transfer thereof from the carton boxing machine (1 ) to the marking machine (3) so that the marking machine (3) can apply, on the single boxes (A) respective information indicative of the type of products contained therein based on respective information and tracking codes present in the boxes.
[0066] This is made possible by the presence and use of the second transport means (4) having a respective plurality of seats (41 ) conformed to receive and transport single respective boxes, which is arranged consecutively to the first transport means (11 ) of the carton boxing machine (1 ).
[0067] In fact, owing to the second transport means (4), with the packaging system (100) of the invention it is possible to keep separate, and transport in a separated way, the single boxes in outlet from the first transport means (11 ) of the carton boxing machine (1 ), thus enabling the management and control unit (7) to maintain tracking the position thereof during the transfer thereof towards the control station (2) and the third transport means (31 ) of the marking machine (3).
[0068] The control station (2) of the weight of the boxes is configured in such a way as to receive, from the second transport means (4), one box at a time, weigh it and then transfer it into a corresponding seat (32) of the third transport means (31 ) of the marking machine (3).
[0069] As the management and control unit (7) is configured to control also the driving means (20) of the control station (2), responsible for the movement of the single boxes in the control station (2) for the verification of the weight thereof, with the packaging system (100) of the invention it is therefore possible to have, in realtime, control of the tracking of the position of the boxes during transfer thereof from the carton boxing machine to the marking machine, in particular from the seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ) to the seats (32) of the third transport means (3) present in the marking machine (3).
[0070] The use of a second transport means (4), having respective seats (41 ) each for receiving and transporting a respective box, also enables having an overall reduction in the length extension of the packaging system with respect to the prior art, as it replaces the two belt conveyors present in the packaging systems of the prior art.
[0071] Further, the packaging system (100) of the invention, configured and structured as described in the foregoing, is able to maintain the tracking of the boxes, i.e. to know the position of the various boxes during transfer thereof from the carton boxing machine to the marking machine, using a single management and control unit.
[0072] This enables arranging the carton boxing machine and the marking machine, as well as the control station of the weight interposed there-between, in a sort of “single block”, i.e. inside a single work environment (L) (such as for example illustrated in figures 2 and 3), or also enable mounting them on a common support structure.
[0073] Figure 11 schematically illustrates, a working flow of packaging products internally of respective boxes with a control of the relative weight and an application on the boxes of respective information corresponding to the particular types of the products contained internally thereof, which can be carried out with the packaging system (100) of the invention.
[0074] The boxes (A) transported in respective seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ) of the carton boxing machine (1 ) are filled with corresponding packs, or containers, of products (single packs / containers or groups of packs / containers) and then closed.
[0075] During the transfer of the filled boxes, the at least a detection unit (6) can detect the information and tracking codes applied on the boxes and indicative of the products contained therein.
[0076] The transfer device (5) then carries out the transfer of the boxes from the seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ) to the seats (41 ) of the second transport means (4).
[0077] Laterally to the second transport means (4) there might also be present a control device of the closure of the boxes with a possible rejection (S) of the boxes which are not correctly closed.
[0078] The second transport means (4) transfers a box at a time from a respective seat (41 ) to the control station (2) of the weight, for the verification of the weight of the various boxes.
[0079] Once the weight of the various single boxes is correct, the control station (2) transfers, time by time, the single weighed box to a corresponding seat (31 ) of the third transport means (3) of the marking machine (3) in such a way that the various single boxes, tracked by the management and control unit (7) and transported by respective seats (31 ) of the third transport means (3), have information applied thereto, indicative and representative of the type of products present internally thereof on the basis of the respective tracking codes present thereon. Further and other special aspects of the packaging system (100) of the present invention are set out in the following.
[0080] The transfer device (5) comprises at least a pair of belts (51 , 52) wound in a closed loop, with the belts (51 , 52) being arranged vertically and bilaterally of the terminal part of the first transport means (11 ) and to the initial part of the second transport means (4) (see for example figures 4, 5, 8).
[0081] The belts (51 , 52) of the pair of belts (51 , 52) are arranged and activatable to intercept, time by time, the boxes (A) transported in the seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ) when they reach the terminal part of the first transport means (11 ) and to transfer the boxes (A) by arranging them internally of a corresponding seat (41 ) of the initial part of the second transport means (4) which is adjacent to the terminal part of the first transport means (11 ).
[0082] In particular, the second transport means (4) comprises a series of projecting elements (42) defining between them a respective seat (41 ) of the second transport means (4) (see for example figures 6, 7, 9, 10).
[0083] The projecting elements (42) are reciprocally arranged with respect to one another at a mutual distance, known as a pitch, dimensioned so that, between two consecutive projecting elements (42), boxes (A) having a dimension comprised between a minimum dimension (A1 ) and a maximum dimension (A2) can be equally transferred by the transfer device (5) (see figures (5, 6, 7) and a maximum dimension (A2) (see figures 8, 9 10).
[0084] This advantageously enables, in a case of format change of the boxes, always using the same second transport means without having to replace it.
[0085] For example, in a case in which the packaging system is to be used to proceed to packing various types of products which require the use of boxes of variable dimensions from a minimum dimension (width), for example comprised between 30 and 40 mm, and a maximum dimension (width), for example comprised between 85 and 100 mm, then the second transport means (4) will be configured and conformed in such a way that the series of projecting elements (42) are mutually arranged and distanced at a pitch comprised between 150-170 mm, thus defining a series of seats (41 ) having a width comprised between 150-170 mm.
[0086] In this way, the belts of the pair of belts (51 , 52) in a closed loop of the transfer device, can be drivable at a constant velocity and phasing with respect to the driving of the first transport means (11 ) and the second transport means (4) in order to be able to transfer, equally, from the seats (12) of the first transport means (11 ) to the seats (41 ) of the second transport means (4), boxes having a dimension comprised between a minimum value of 30-40 mm or a maximum value of 85-100 mm.
[0087] In particular, the belts of the pair of belts intercept, at the two relative heads, a box present in the seat (12) of the transport means (11 ) which is reaching the terminal part thereof, and convey the box towards the initial part of the second transport means (4) and arrange the box between a first projecting element (42), already transited from the initial end of the second transport means (4), and a second projecting element (42) in arrival at the initial part of the second transport means (4).
[0088] Both the first transport means (11 ) and the second transport means (4) are preferably constituted by loop-wound belts or chains, with the terminal part of the first transport means (11 ) winding about a relative activating element and being arranged adjacent to the initial part of the second transport means (12) which winds about a respective activating element.
