Description

Throttle grip device

[0001] The present invention relates to a throttle grip device in which a drive source of a vehicle is controlled based on the rotational operation of a throttle grip.

[0002] Recently, throttle grip devices have become common in motorcycles, which are configured to detect the rotation angle of the throttle grip with a sensor and send the detected value as an electrical signal to an electronic control device or the like mounted on the motorcycle. The electronic control device in the motorcycle then performs a predetermined calculation based on the detection signal, and the drive source (engine, drive motor, etc.) of the motorcycle is controlled based on the calculation results.

[0003] An example of a conventional throttle grip device is that disclosed in Patent Document 1. In this conventional throttle grip device, an engaging portion formed on the throttle grip engages with an engaged portion formed on the interlocking member to connect the throttle grip and the interlocking member, and a sensor detects the rotation angle of the interlocking member to detect the rotation angle of the throttle grip, thereby controlling the drive source.

[0004] In addition, in a conventional throttle grip device, the interlocking member and the sensor are housed in a unit case, which is housed in a main body case. The main body case is configured by mating one main body case with the other main body case, and the unit case is attached to one of the main body cases.

[0005] JP 2018-90065 A

[0006] However, in the above-mentioned conventional technology, the unit case is attached to one of the main cases, and the two main cases are fitted together with the handle pipe in between and fastened with bolts to secure the main cases. If the fastening force is too strong, the main case may bend. If the main case bends in this way, a gap may form at the joint between the two main cases, or an assembly error may occur between the sensor inside the main case and the throttle grip.

[0007] The present invention has been made in consideration of the above circumstances, and aims to provide a throttle grip device that can firmly assemble the main body case to the handle pipe and can suppress deflection of the main body case during assembly.

[0011] According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the throttle grip device of the third aspect, the fixing portion has a positioning shape formed on an upper portion thereof for positioning the auxiliary fixing member.

[0012] The invention described in claim 5 is characterized in that, in the throttle grip device described in claim 1, the unit case has an insertion hole through which the handle pipe is inserted, and the fixing portion is formed at the opening edge of the insertion hole.

[0013] The invention described in claim 6 is characterized in that, in the throttle grip device described in claim 1, the throttle grip has a protrusion formed at its base end that protrudes radially, and the one main body case and the other main body case each have an opening through which the base end of the throttle grip is inserted, and a retaining portion is formed at the edge of each opening to cover the protrusion and prevent it from coming off.

[0014] According to the invention of claim 1, the unit case is formed with a fixing portion having an arc shape that follows the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe, and is attached to one of the main body cases by matching the arc shape of the fixing portion to the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe, so that the main body case can be firmly assembled to the handle pipe and deflection of the main body case during assembly can be suppressed.

[0015] According to the invention of claim 2, the fixing portion is integrally formed at a predetermined location on the unit case, thereby reducing the number of parts compared to a separate fixing portion, and also enabling the arc shape of the fixing portion to reliably match the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe.

[0016] According to the invention of claim 3, an auxiliary fixing member is provided which covers the upper part of the fixing part and is attached to one of the main body cases, and which presses the arc shape of the fixing part against the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe to fix the unit case to one of the main body cases, thereby making it possible to more firmly attach the unit case to the handle pipe.

[0017] According to the invention of claim 4, the fixing portion has a positioning shape formed on its upper part for positioning the auxiliary fixing member, so that when the auxiliary fixing member is attached to one of the main body cases, the auxiliary fixing member can be prevented from shifting relative to the upper part of the fixing portion, and the arc shape of the fixing portion can be reliably pressed against the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe.

[0018] According to the invention of claim 5, the unit case has an insertion hole through which the handle pipe is inserted, and a fixing portion is formed at the opening edge of the insertion hole, so that the arc shape of the fixing portion can be matched to the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe during the process of inserting the handle pipe into the insertion hole.

[0019] According to the invention of claim 6, one main body case and the other main body case each have an opening through which the base end of the throttle grip is inserted, and a retaining portion is formed on the edge of each opening to cover the protrusion and prevent it from coming off, thereby making it possible to more reliably prevent the throttle grip from coming off.

FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view showing one main body case, the other main body case, the throttle grip, the unit case, and the auxiliary fixing member in the throttle grip device; FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view showing the unit case attached to one main body case in the throttle grip device; FIG. 3 is a front view and a rear view showing the unit case applied to a throttle grip device according to a second embodiment of the present invention; FIG. 4 is a perspective view showing the unit case of the throttle grip device;

[0021] 1 to 8, a throttle grip device according to a first embodiment of the present invention detects the rotation angle of a throttle grip G attached to the handlebar (handle pipe H) of a motorcycle (vehicle) and transmits the detection signal to an electronic control device such as an ECU mounted on the motorcycle to control a drive source (for example, an engine or motor), and is configured to include a main body case C (one main body case C1 and the other main body case C2), the throttle grip G, an interlocking member 1, a rotating member 5, a magnetic sensor 7 as a rotation angle detection means, a resistance force applying member 9, and a unit case 10.

[0022] The main body case C is fixed to the handle pipe H and is configured to have one main body case C1 and the other main body case C2. One main body case C1 is located on the front side of the vehicle and is assembled to the handle pipe H, and as shown in Figures 5, 11 and 12, has an opening C1a through which the base end side of the throttle grip G can be inserted, an opening C1d through which the handle pipe H can be inserted, screw holes N1 and N2 into which the fixing screws B1 and B2 are screwed, and insertion holes P1 to P3 through which the fixing screw B3 can be inserted.

[0023] In addition, one of the main body cases C1 has a positioning protrusion C1c formed at a predetermined position, and as shown in Figures 5 and 6, when one of the main body cases C1 is assembled to the handle pipe H, the positioning protrusion C1c is inserted into a positioning hole Ha formed at a predetermined position in the handle pipe H, thereby making it possible to position one of the main body cases C1 relative to the handle pipe H.

[0024] 5 and 11, the other main body case C2 is located at the rear of the vehicle and is assembled to the handle pipe H, and has an opening C2a through which the base end of the throttle grip G can be inserted, and an opening C2c through which the handle pipe H can be inserted. The main body case C1 and the other main body case C2 are fitted together and assembled with the handle pipe H sandwiched between them, so that the main body case C is fixed to the handle pipe H.

[0025] The throttle grip G is attached to the right end of the handle pipe H of the vehicle and can be rotated by the driver while gripping it, and can be rotated in a forward direction α and a reverse direction β around an axis from an initial position, as shown in Figure 1. A protruding engaging portion Ga (see Figure 11) is formed on the base end of the throttle grip G, and this engaging portion Ga engages with the engaged portion 1a (see Figures 8 and 9) of the interlocking member 1, thereby connecting the throttle grip G and the interlocking member 1.

[0026] However, as shown in Figure 11, the throttle grip G has a protrusion Gb formed at its base end that protrudes radially, and as shown in Figure 5, one main body case C1 and the other main body case C2 each have openings C1a, C2a through which the base end of the throttle grip G is inserted, and each opening edge has anti-slip portions C1b, C2b that cover the protrusion Gb and prevent it from coming off.

[0027] The interlocking member 1 has an engaged portion 1a formed in a recess that can engage with an engaging portion Ga formed on the throttle grip G, and can rotate in conjunction with the rotation of the throttle grip G. Specifically, as shown in Figures 3, 7 and 8, the interlocking member 1 according to this embodiment is made up of an annular member that has an engaged portion 1a, a gear 1b, a central hole 1c through which the handle pipe H can be inserted, and a sliding surface 1d on which the resistance force applying member 9 can slide.

[0028] The engaged portions 1a are each formed in a recessed shape at a position corresponding to the engaging portion Ga of the throttle grip G, and the base end side of the throttle grip G is connected to the interlocking member 1 with the engaging portion Ga fitted into the engaged portion 1a. This allows the interlocking member 1 to rotate in conjunction with the rotation of the throttle grip G.

[0029] The gear 1b is formed over a predetermined range in the circumferential direction of the interlocking member 1, and as shown in Figure 3, is assembled in a state in which it meshes with a gear formed on the outer periphery of the rotating member 5. The rotating member 5 is capable of rotating in conjunction with the interlocking member 1, is biased toward its initial position by a spring S1, is attached to the unit case 10, and is rotatable about a shaft member L (see Figures 3, 7, and 8). A magnet M is attached to the rotating member 5, and the magnet M rotates together with the rotating member 5 about the shaft member L.

[0030] As shown in Figure 4, the magnetic sensor 7 (rotation angle detection means) is composed of a sensor attached to the substrate 6, and is capable of detecting the rotation angle of the throttle grip G by detecting changes in magnetism (changes in the direction of the magnetic field) generated by the magnet M. Specifically, the magnetic sensor 7 is capable of obtaining an output voltage corresponding to changes in the magnetic field (changes in magnetic flux density) of the magnet M, and is composed of, for example, a Hall element, which is a magnetic sensor that utilizes the Hall effect (specifically, a linear Hall IC that can obtain an output voltage proportional to the magnetic field (magnetic flux density) of the magnet M). The magnetic sensor 7 according to this embodiment is covered with a magnetic shielding member 8 made of a non-magnetic material.

[0031] In the throttle grip device according to this embodiment, when the interlocking member 1 rotates in the same direction as the throttle grip G rotates in a predetermined direction (forward direction α or reverse direction β), the rotating member 5 also rotates in conjunction with the rotation, and the magnet M connected to the rotating member 5 also rotates in the same direction and by the same angle. As a result, the magnetic field of the rotating member 5 changes depending on the rotation angle, and an output voltage according to the rotation angle can be obtained by the magnetic sensor 7.

[0032] As described above, in this embodiment, by rotating the throttle grip G, the interlocking member 1 and the rotating member 5 are rotated, and the magnetic sensor can obtain an output voltage corresponding to the rotation angle of the rotating member 5. Therefore, the rotation angle of the interlocking member 1 (i.e., the rotation angle of the throttle grip G) can be detected based on the output voltage. When the throttle grip G is rotated in the forward direction α from the initial position, the drive source of the vehicle (engine, drive motor, etc.) can be controlled in accordance with the rotation angle of the throttle grip G detected by the magnetic sensor 7, and when the throttle grip G is rotated in the reverse direction β from the initial position, a predetermined electrical device equipped in the vehicle can be operated (for example, the cruise control system can be turned off).

[0033] The interlocking member 1 is connected to one end of a forward rotation return spring 2 made of a torsion coil spring, and is also configured with a reverse rotation return spring 3 made of a coil spring. When the throttle grip G is rotated in a forward direction α, the interlocking member 1 rotates in the same direction (forward direction α) against the biasing force of the forward rotation return spring 2, and when the throttle grip G is rotated in a reverse direction β, the interlocking member 1 rotates in the same direction (reverse direction β) against the biasing force of the reverse rotation return spring 3.

[0034] The interlocking member 1 is fitted with a biasing force selection member 4 having a protrusion 4a (see Figures 3 and 8). When the throttle grip G is rotated in the forward direction α, the forward return spring 2 generates a biasing force, but the reverse return spring 3 does not generate a biasing force. When the throttle grip G is rotated in the reverse direction β, the forward return spring 2 does not generate a biasing force, but the reverse return spring 3 generates a biasing force.

[0035] The resistance applying member 9 generates a rotational load by generating sliding resistance (frictional resistance due to sliding) when the throttle grip G rotates, and is made of a friction member assembled in contact with the sliding surface 1d formed around the circumferential direction of the interlocking member 1. The resistance applying member 9 is housed in the unit case 10 and assembled so that it is pressed against the sliding surface 1d of the interlocking member 1 by the biasing force of the spring S2. When the interlocking member 1 rotates, the resistance applying member 9 slides against the sliding surface 1d, generating a frictional force and a desired rotational load.

[0036] As shown in Figures 7 and 8, the unit case 10 is made of a molded part that houses various components such as the interlocking member 1, the rotating member 5, and the magnetic sensor 7 (rotation angle detection means), and is housed in a main case C that is made up of one main case C1 and the other main case C2. As shown in Figures 9 to 12, the unit case 10 according to this embodiment is formed with a fixing portion 10a that can be fitted to and fixed to the handle pipe H, an insertion hole 10b through which the handle pipe H is inserted, and a screw insertion hole h through which a fixing screw B1 is inserted. Note that reference numeral 11 denotes a plate-shaped cover member that closes the open side of the unit case 10 and has an opening 11a through which the handle pipe H can be inserted.

[0037] The fixing portion 10a is integrally formed with the opening edge of the insertion hole 10b in the unit case 10, and has an arcuate shape 10aa that conforms to the outer circumferential surface of the handle pipe H. As shown in Figures 10 to 12, the fixing portion 10a according to this embodiment has a cantilever structure in which the base end is integral with the unit case 10 and the tip end is a free end, and the arcuate shape 10aa formed on the inside is bent in an arc shape with substantially the same curvature as the outer circumferential surface of the handle pipe H. When the handle pipe H is inserted into the insertion hole 10b of the unit case 10, the fixing portion 10a is designed to fit the outer circumferential surface of the handle pipe H, as shown in Figure 6.

[0038] Furthermore, the unit case 10 according to this embodiment is fixed to one of the main body cases C1 by an auxiliary fixing member 12 via the fixing portion 10a. As shown in Figures 11 and 12, the auxiliary fixing member 12 covers an upper portion 10ab of the fixing portion 10a and is attached to one of the main body cases C1 by fixing screws B1 and B2, and is configured to press the arc shape 10aa of the fixing portion 10a against the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H to fix the unit case 10 to one of the main body cases C1.

[0039] Specifically, the auxiliary fixing member 12 is made of a pressed metal member having an arc-shaped portion 12a with a curvature substantially equal to that of the upper portion 10ab of the fixing portion 10a and screw holes 12b formed at both ends. As shown in Figures 6 and 12, the unit case 10 is firmly fixed to the one main case C1 by inserting a fixing screw B1 through the screw hole 12b of the auxiliary fixing member 12 and the screw insertion hole h of the unit case 10 and threading it into the screw hole N1 of the one main case C1, and by threading a fixing screw B2 into the screw hole N2 of the one main case C1.

[0040] After the unit case 10 is fixed to the one main body case C1 in this manner (see FIG. 12), a plurality of fixing screws B3 are inserted into the insertion holes P1 to P3 formed in the one main body case C1, and the tips of the fixing screws B3 are screwed into the other main body case C2. This allows the main body case C (one main body case C1 and the other main body case C2) to be fixed to the handle pipe H.

[0041] Furthermore, the fixing portion 10a according to this embodiment has a positioning feature 10ac formed on its upper portion 10ab for positioning the auxiliary fixing member 12. The positioning feature 10ac is a protruding feature that extends in the extension direction at both edges of the fixing portion 10a, and is configured so that when the auxiliary fixing member 12 is brought into contact with the upper portion 10ab, the auxiliary fixing member 12 is positioned between the positioning features 10ac to prevent displacement in the width direction.

[0042] According to the throttle grip device of this embodiment, the unit case 10 is formed with a fixing portion 10a having an arc shape 10aa that follows the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H, and is attached to one of the main body cases C1 by matching the arc shape 10aa of the fixing portion 10a with the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H. This allows the main body case C to be firmly assembled to the handle pipe H, and eliminates the need for the work of tightening one of the main body cases C1 and the other main body case C2 together, thereby suppressing deflection of the main body case C during assembly.

[0043] Furthermore, since the fixing portion 10a in this embodiment is integrally formed at a predetermined portion of the unit case 10, the number of parts can be reduced compared to a separate fixing portion, and the arc shape 10aa of the fixing portion 10a can be reliably matched to the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H.

[0044] Furthermore, the throttle grip device of this embodiment is provided with an auxiliary fixing member 12 that covers the upper portion 10ab of the fixing portion 10a and is attached to one of the main body cases C1, and that presses the arc shape 10aa of the fixing portion 10a against the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H to fix the unit case 10 to one of the main body cases C1. Therefore, the fixation by the fixing portion 10a is reinforced by the auxiliary fixing member 12, and the unit case 10 can be attached more firmly to the handle pipe H.

[0045] Furthermore, the fixing portion 10a in this embodiment has a positioning shape 10ac formed on its upper portion 10ab for positioning the auxiliary fixing member 12. Therefore, when the auxiliary fixing member 12 is attached to one of the main body cases C1, the tightening force of the fixing screws B1, B2, etc. can be prevented from causing the auxiliary fixing member 12 to shift relative to the upper portion 10ab of the fixing portion 10a, and the arc shape 10aa of the fixing portion 10a can be reliably pressed against the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H.

[0046] In addition, the unit case 10 of this embodiment has an insertion hole 10b through which the handle pipe H is inserted, and a fixing portion 10a is formed at the opening edge of the insertion hole 10b. Therefore, the opening edge of the insertion hole 10b and the arc shape 10aa of the fixing portion 10a can be formed continuously, and the arc shape 10aa of the fixing portion 10a can be matched to the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H during the process of inserting the handle pipe H into the insertion hole 10b.

[0047] Furthermore, according to the throttle grip device of this embodiment, one main body case C1 and the other main body case C2 each have openings C1a, C2a through which the base end of the throttle grip G is inserted, and anti-slip portions C1b, C2b are formed on the edge of each opening to cover the protrusion Gb of the throttle grip G and prevent it from coming off, thereby making it possible to more reliably prevent the throttle grip G from coming off.

[0048] Next, a throttle grip device according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be described. As with the first embodiment, the throttle grip device according to the second embodiment detects the rotation angle of a throttle grip G attached to the handlebar (handle pipe H) of a motorcycle (vehicle) and transmits the detection signal to an electronic control device such as an ECU mounted on the motorcycle to control a drive source (for example, an engine or a motor). Note that detailed description of the same components as those in the first embodiment will be omitted.

[0049] As in the first embodiment, the unit case 10 is formed with a fixing portion 10a having an arcuate shape 10aa that conforms to the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H, and is attached to one of the main body cases C1 by matching the arcuate shape 10aa of the fixing portion 10a with the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H. Here, as shown in Figures 13 and 14, the fixing portion 10a according to this embodiment has a double-supported structure in which both ends are integrated with the unit case 10, and the arcuate shape 10aa formed on the inside is bent in an arc shape with a curvature that is approximately equal to the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H.

[0050] 15 and 16, the fixing portion 10a is configured so that the unit case 10 is firmly fixed to the one main body case C1 by inserting the fixing screw B1 through the screw insertion hole h1 of the unit case 10 and threading it into the screw hole N1 of the one main body case C1, and by inserting the fixing screw B2 through the screw insertion hole h2 of the unit case 10 and threading it into the screw hole N2 of the one main body case C1.

[0051] After the unit case 10 is fixed to the one main body case C1 in this manner (see FIG. 16), a plurality of fixing screws B3 are inserted into the insertion holes P1 to P3 formed in the one main body case C1, and the tips of the fixing screws B3 are screwed into the other main body case C2. This allows the main body case C (one main body case C1 and the other main body case C2) to be fixed to the handle pipe H.

[0052] According to the throttle grip device of this embodiment, the unit case 10 is formed with a fixing portion 10a having an arc shape 10aa that follows the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H, and is attached to one of the main body cases C1 by matching the arc shape 10aa of the fixing portion 10a with the outer peripheral surface of the handle pipe H. This allows the main body case C to be firmly assembled to the handle pipe H, and eliminates the need for the work of tightening one of the main body cases C1 and the other main body case C2 together, thereby suppressing deflection of the main body case C during assembly.

[0053] Although the present embodiment has been described above, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, the fixing portion 10a may be a separate part from the unit case 10, or the fixing portion 10a may be fixed by a fastening means other than the fixing screws B1, B2. Furthermore, the magnetic sensor 7 may be replaced by another sensor (such as a sensor that does not use magnetism) that can detect the rotation angle of the throttle grip G.

[0054] Furthermore, although the throttle grip G according to this embodiment is rotatable in both the forward direction α and the reverse direction β, it may be applied to a vehicle that is rotatable only in the forward direction α. The vehicle to which this embodiment is applied is not limited to a two-wheeled vehicle as in this embodiment, but may be applied to other vehicles having handlebars (handle pipes H), such as ATVs and snowmobiles. Furthermore, the vehicle to which this embodiment is applied is not limited to a vehicle using an engine as a drive source, but may be a vehicle using, for example, an electric motor as a drive source.

[0055] The present invention can also be applied to devices with different external shapes or devices with additional functions, provided that they have the same gist as the present invention.
