Description

[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] TITLE OF INVENTION

[0003] COMPOSITION COMPRISING GLYCOLIPID AND CATIONIC POLYMER

[0004] TECHNICAL FIELD

[0005] The present invention relates to a composition including, at least, glycolipid and cationic polymer, as well as a cosmetic process using the composition.

[0006] BACKGROUND ART

[0007] Cleansing of the skin is very important for facial care. It must be as effective as possible since fatty residues, such as excess sebum, the residues of cosmetic products used daily and makeup products accumulate in the skin folds and can block the skin pores and lead to the appearance of spots.

[0008] The formulation of environmentally-friendly cosmetic products, which are designed and developed considering environmental issues, is becoming a major goal in an effort to meet global challenges. It is therefore essential to propose more sustainable compositions, preparation processes and ingredients to address these environmental concerns.

[0009] In this context, it is important to develop new cosmetic compositions such as new cleansing composition with a better carbon footprint, particularly by promoting the use of renewable raw materials and / or materials with a good index of naturalness and / or materials of natural origin.

[0010] Biosurfactants such as glycolipids, in particular rhamnolipids, are materials of natural origin and are known to have unique bioactivities, such as anti-inflammation efficacy, anti-allergic efficacy, antibacterial efficacy, and the like.

[0011] DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION

[0012] There is a need for a composition which can provide a keratin material such as skin with a deposition including glycolipid.

[0013] However, it is difficult for glycolipid to remain on the keratin material when using a certain type of a composition, such as a cleansing composition, including glycolipid, if the composition is rinsed off with water.

[0014] In addition, if the composition has a low viscosity, the composition can drip off from hands, when being used, which is not useful. Therefore, the application of the composition on the keratin material such as the skin may not be practical for the consumer.

[0015] Thus, an objective of the present invention is to provide a composition which can be easily applied on a keratin material such as the skin, while providing a good deposition of glycolipid on the keratin material such as the skin, even when the composition is rinsed off with water.

[0016] The above objective can be achieved by a composition, preferably a cosmetic composition, and more preferably a cleansing cosmetic composition, comprising:

[0017] (a) at least one glycolipid;

[0018] (b) at least one cationic polymer selected from polylysines; and

[0019] (c) (c1) at least one polyol, (c2) at least one liquid fatty alcohol, or (c3) mixtures thereof, wherein the amount of the (c1) polyol(s) in the composition is 1% by weight or more, preferably 2% by weight or more, and more preferably 2.5% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0020] The (a) glycolipid may be selected from rhamnolipids, sophorolipids, and mixtures thereof, and preferably from rhamnolipids.

[0022] The (b) cationic polymer may have a molecular weight of more than 1,000, preferably more than 1,500, and more preferably more than 2,000.

[0023] The amount of the (b) cationic polymer(s) in the composition according to the present invention may be from 0.01% to 10% by weight, preferably from 0.05% to 5% by weight, and more preferably from 0.1% to 3% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0024] The (c1) polyol may have 5 or more, preferably 6 or more, hydroxyl groups.

[0025] It is more preferable that the (c1) polyol be selected from sugar alcohols, even more preferably the group consisting of sorbitol, mannitol and a mixture thereof.

[0026] The amount of the (c1) polyol(s) in the composition according to the present invention may be from 1% to 20% by weight, preferably from 2% to 15% by weight, and more preferably 2.5% to 10% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0027] The (c2) liquid fatty alcohol may be selected from C12to C24linear or branched saturated fatty alcohols, C12to C24linear or branched unsaturated fatty alcohols, and mixtures thereof.

[0028] It is preferable that the (c2) liquid fatty alcohol be selected from the group consisting of lauryl alcohol, hexyldecanol, oleyl alcohol, isostearyl alcohol, octyldodecanol, decyltetradecanol, and a mixture thereof, preferably isostearyl alcohol, oleyl alcohol and a mixture thereof.

[0029] The amount of the (c2) liquid fatty alcohol(s) in the composition according to the present invention may be from 0.01% to 10% by weight, preferably from 0.05% to 5% by weight, and more preferably 0.1% to 1% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0030] The composition according to the present invention may further comprise (d) at least one anionic surfactant, preferably selected from taurate surfactants.

[0031] The (d) anionic surfactant(s) in the composition according to the present invention may be from 0.5% to 20% by weight, preferably from 1% to 15% by weight, and more preferably from 2% to 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. The composition according to the present invention may further comprise (e) at least one amphoteric surfactant.

[0032] The amount of the (e) amphoteric surfactant(s) in the composition according to the present invention may be from 0.01% to 20% by weight, preferably from 0.1% to 15% by weight, and more preferably from 1% to 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0033] The present invention also relates to a cosmetic process for a keratin material such as skin, comprising: applying to the keratin material the composition according to the present invention; and optionally removing the composition from the keratin material.

[0034] BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

[0035] After diligent research, the inventors have discovered that it is possible to provide a composition which can be easily applied on a keratin material such as the skin, while providing a good deposition of glycolipid on the keratin material such as the skin, even when the composition is rinsed off with water.

[0036] Thus, the composition according to the present invention comprises:

[0037] (a) at least one glycolipid;

[0038] (b) at least one cationic polymer selected from polylysines; and

[0039] (c) (c1) at least one polyol, (c2) at least one liquid fatty alcohol, or (c3) mixtures thereof, wherein the amount of the (c1) polyol(s) in the composition is 1% by weight or more, preferably 2% by weight or more, and more preferably 2.5% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0040] The composition according to the present invention can have a relatively higher viscosity and could provide a keratin material such as skin with a deposition including glycolipid.

[0041] The composition according to the present invention can have a relatively higher viscosity. Therefore, the composition according to the present invention is difficult to drip off from hands, when being used. Accordingly, the composition according to the present invention is easy to handle, and therefore, the composition can be applied easily on a keratin material such as the skin.

[0042] The (c1) polyol and / or the (c2) liquid fatty alcohol could function as a thickener in the composition according to the present invention.

[0043] In addition, due to the relatively high viscosity, the composition according to the present invention can be suitable to be discharged by a pump from a container.

[0044] Further, the composition according to the present invention could provide a good deposition of (a) glycolipid on a keratin material such as the skin. The deposition could be provided by, for example, precipitates including (a) glycolipid formed in the composition according to the present invention, when the composition is rinsed off from the keratin material with water.

[0045] A preferable embodiment of the composition according to the present invention could provide an increased amount of such depositions or precipitates to a keratin material such as skin.

[0046] Furthermore, the composition according to the present invention can be stable such that the appearance of the composition does not change at a variety temperatures, for example at cold temperatures such as -5°C and 4°C, for a long period of time. For example, if the composition according to the present invention is transparent, it can maintain its transparent aspect at a variety of temperatures for a long period of time.

[0047] As glycolipids such as rhamnolipids have bioactivities, such as anti-inflammation efficacy, anti-allergic efficacy, and antibacterial efficacy, the deposition including the (a) glycolipid provided by the composition according to the present invention would be useful to care for a keratin material such as skin. In particular, the composition according to the present invention would be useful to treat or care for skin with acne.

[0048] Since glycolipids can function as (anionic) surfactants, the deposition including the (a) glycolipid could also provide enhanced cleansing effects. Thus, the composition according to the present invention would also be useful for cleansing a keratin material such as skin.

[0049] The (a) glycolipid can be originated from natural and renewable materials, and are biodegradable. In addition, since polylysines can also be obtained from natural resources, the (b) cationic polymer is an environmentally-friendly ingredient. Therefore, the composition according to the present invention can include environmentally-friendly ingredients.

[0050] Hereinafter, the present invention will be explained in a more detailed manner.

[0090] The composition according to the present invention preferably comprises one or more rhamnolipids.

[0091] Rhamnolipids are glycolipids produced by various bacterial species. They consist of one rhamnose fragment (mono-rhamnolipid) or of two rhamnose fragments (di-rhamnolipid) linked by a glycosidic bond to one, two or three chains of β-hydroxylated fatty acids linked to one another by an ester bond.

[0126] According to one embodiment of the present invention, the (b) cationic polymer is selected from polylysines.

[0127] Polylysines correspond to the condensation of several amino acids of lysine. Polylysine can be a natural homopolymer of L-lysine that can be produced by bacterial fermentation. Polylysines are typically used as a natural preservative in food products. Polylysine is a polyelectrolyte which is soluble in polar solvents such as water.

[0128] Polylysine can be, for example, epsilon-polylysine (or referred as “ε-polylysine”), which is a condensation of amino groups at the ε-position and carboxyl groups of lysines, or alphapolylysine (or referred as “α-polylysine”), which is a condensation of amino groups at the α- position and carboxyl groups of lysines. Thus, it is preferable that the composition according to the present invention be a cleansing cosmetic composition, more preferably a cleansing cosmetic composition for skin, and even more preferably a cleansing cosmetic composition for face.

[0249] In another embodiment, the composition according to the present invention can also be used as a cleansing cosmetic composition for keratin fibers such as hair, preferably as a shampoo.

[0250] [Cosmetic Process and Use]

[0251] The present invention may relate to: a cosmetic process for a keratin material such as skin, comprising applying to the keratin material the composition according to the present invention; and optionally removing the composition from the keratin material, or a use of the composition according to the present invention for caring for or cleansing a keratin material such as skin.

[0252] The cosmetic process here means a non-therapeutic cosmetic method, such as for a cosmetic method for caring for or cleansing the surface of a keratin material such as skin. The step of removing in the cosmetic process according to the present invention can be performed by, for example, rinsing off with water the composition according to the present invention from a keratin material such as skin.

[0253] If the step of removing is not performed, the cosmetic process according to the present invention can be useful for caring for a keratin material such as skin, because the (a) glycolipid can provide the keratin material with anti-inflammation, anti-allergic, or antibacterial properties, which would be useful for, in particular, caring for skin with acne and sensitive skin.

[0254] If the step of removing is performed, the cosmetic process according to the present invention can be useful for cleansing a keratin material such as skin, because the (a) glycolipid can function as a surfactant.

[0255] The present invention may also relate to a use of (b) at least one cationic polymer selected from polylysines, in a composition comprising

[0256] (a) at least one glycolipid, and

[0257] (c1) at least one polyol, wherein the amount of the (c1) polyol(s) in the composition is 1% by weight or more, preferably 2% by weight or more, and more preferably 2.5% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of the composition, in order to make the composition provide a keratin material with enhanced anti-inflammation, anti-allergic, or anti-bacterial properties, which would be useful for, in particular, caring for skin with acne and sensitive skin.

[0258] The present invention may also relate to a use of (c1) at least one polyol in a composition comprising

[0259] (a) at least one glycolipid, and

[0260] (b) at least one cationic polymer selected from polylysines, wherein the amount of the (c1) polyol(s) in the composition is 1% by weight or more, preferably 2% by weight or more, and more preferably 2.5% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of the composition, in order to increase the viscosity of the composition, preferably 700 mPa.s or more, more preferably 800 mPa.s or more, even more preferably 900 mPa.s or more, and in particularly preferably 1000 mPa.s or more at 25°C under atmospheric pressure (760 mmHg or 101325 Pa).

[0261] The above explanations regarding the (a) glycolipid, the (b) cationic polymer, and the (c1) polyol for the composition according to the present invention, can apply to those in the above use.

[0262] The present invention may also relate to a use of (b) at least one cationic polymer selected from polylysines, in a composition comprising

[0263] (a) at least one glycolipid, and (c2) at least one liquid fatty alcohol in order to make the composition provide a keratin material with enhanced anti-inflammation, anti-allergic, or anti-bacterial properties, which would be useful for, in particular, caring for skin with acne and sensitive skin.

[0264] The present invention may also relate to a use of (c2) at least one liquid fatty alcohol in a composition comprising

[0265] (a) at least one glycolipid, and

[0266] (b) at least one cationic polymer selected from polylysines, in order to stabilize the composition and increase the viscosity of the composition, preferably 700 mPa.s or more, more preferably 800 mPa.s or more, even more preferably 900 mPa.s or more, and in particularly preferably 1000 mPa.s or more at 25°C under atmospheric pressure (760 mmHg or 101325 Pa).

[0267] The term “stabilize" here means that the use according to the present invention can thermally stabilize the composition for a long period of time. For example, the aspects of the composition can be stabilized at a cold temperature of, for example, -5 °C and 4°C for 30 days or more.

[0268] The above explanations regarding the (a) glycolipid, the (b) cationic polymer, and the (c2) liquid fatty alcohol for the composition according to the present invention, can apply to those in the above use.

[0269] EXAMPLES

[0270] The present invention will be described in a more detailed manner by way of examples. However, they should not be construed as limiting the scope of the present invention.

[0271] Examples 1A-3A and Comparative Examples 1A-3A

[0272] [Preparations]

[0273] Each of the compositions according to Examples 1 A-3A and Comparative Examples 1A-3A was prepared by mixing the ingredients shown in Table 1 A. The numerical values for the amounts of the ingredients in Table 1 A are all based on “% by weight” as active materials.

[0276] *2 sold by the Shandong Freda Biotechnology under the name Polylysine

[0277] *3 sold by the Kasyap Sweetners under the name Sorbitol

[0278] [Evaluations]

[0279] (Viscosity)

[0280] The viscosity of each of the compositions according to Examples 1A-3A and Comparative Examples 1A-3A was measured with VISCOMAN™ (GILSON Technology) at room temperature (25°C) under atmospheric pressure (760 mmHg or 101325 Pa). The viscosity was measured 3 times and averaged.

[0281] The results are shown in Table 1A.

[0282] A composition with a viscosity below 700 mPa.s would be easy to drip from hands.

[0283] Therefore, it is preferable for the composition to have a viscosity higher than 700 mPa.s.

[0284] (Dilution Test)

[0285] Each of the compositions according to Examples 1A-3A and Comparative Examples 1A-3A was diluted with water to have 10 times volume at room temperature (25°C) under atmospheric pressure (760 mmHg or 101325 Pa). The dilution test simulates the use of the composition under wet conditions such as those in a bath room.

[0286] The appearance of each composition was visually evaluated in accordance with the following criteria.

[0287] Good: Appearance changed from transparent to hazy or precipitation was observed.

[0288] Poor: No change in appearance was observed.

[0289] The more the precipitation is caused in the dilution test, the more the composition can provide a keratin material with a deposition including glycolipids.

[0290] The results are shown in Table 1 A.

[0291] (Summary)

[0292] The compositions according to Examples 1A-3A were found to have a relatively higher viscosity of more than 700 mPa.s and could form good deposition of glycolipids on the skin.

[0293] The composition according to Comparative Example 1A which did not include both the (b) cationic polymer (polylysine) and the (c1) polyol could not form a good deposition of glycolipids on the skin, and had a relatively lower viscosity that creates an issue for the application of the composition on the skin by the consumer.

[0294] The composition according to Comparative Example 2A which included the (b) cationic polymer (polylysine) but did not include the (c1) polyol had a relatively lower viscosity that would create an issue for the application of the composition on the skin by the consumer. The composition according to Comparative Example 3 A which included the (b) cationic polymer (polylysine) and (c1) polyol in an amount of 0.5% by weight had a relatively lower viscosity that would create an issue for the application of the composition on the skin by the consumer.
