[0011] According to the present invention, it is possible to provide an oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic composition having high ultraviolet absorbing ability.
[0012] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the preferred embodiments. However, the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments, and various modifications can be made within the scope of the present invention.
[0013] Oil-in-Water Emulsion Cosmetic Composition The oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention (hereinafter also simply referred to as "the composition of the present invention") comprises: at least one of polysilicone-15 and drometrizole trisiloxane; terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid and / or a salt thereof; an emulsifier; an oil component other than polysilicone-15 and drometrizole trisiloxane; and water, wherein the emulsifier comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of PEG-30 phytosteryl, glyceryl stearate, polyoxyethylene hydrogenated castor oil having an HLB value of 14 to 20, PPG-8 ceteth-20, and stearoxyhydroxypropyl methylcellulose.
[0014] As described above, through extensive research by the present inventors, it has been found that the ultraviolet absorption performance of an oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic composition prepared by using either or both of polysilicone-15 and drometrizole trisiloxane in combination with terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid (and / or a salt thereof) as an ultraviolet absorber may be impaired.
[0015] The present inventors conducted further intensive research into this issue and were able to improve the UV absorption performance of an oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic composition prepared by combining either or both of polysilicone-15 and drometrizole trisiloxane with terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid (and / or a salt thereof) by incorporating a specific emulsifier.
[0016] Without being limited by theory, the improvement in UV absorption performance of the composition of the present invention due to the specific emulsifier is presumed to be as follows: Since both polysilicone-15 and drometrizole trisiloxane are oil-soluble, they can be present in the oil phase (internal phase) of the composition of the present invention due to the emulsifier. On the other hand, terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid and its salts can be present in the aqueous phase (external phase) of the composition of the present invention. For this reason, it is presumed that, depending on the type of emulsifier, terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid or its salt may be affected, resulting in insufficient emulsification of at least one of polysilicone-15 and drometrizole trisiloxane, which may come into contact with water-soluble terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid or its salt in the aqueous phase, resulting in some kind of interaction that negatively affects the UV absorption performance of the entire composition. In contrast, the use of a specific emulsifier (particularly an emulsifier believed to have excellent salt tolerance (e.g., a nonionic emulsifier)) selected through extensive research by the inventors of the present invention makes it possible to stably emulsify polysilicone-15 and drometrizole trisiloxane in the oil phase, which is believed to result in improved UV absorption performance for the entire composition.
[0017] Each component that may be contained in the composition of the present invention will be described in detail below.
[0018] <Polysilicone-15> The composition of the present invention can contain polysilicone-15, and preferably contains polysilicone-15.
[0019] Polysilicone-15 is a type of oil-soluble ultraviolet absorber that can absorb at least a portion of ultraviolet light in the UVB region. Therefore, it is preferable that the composition of the present invention contains polysilicone-15. Furthermore, as shown in the comparative examples described below, in the case of Comparative Example 4, in which polysilicone-15 and terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid described below were used in combination, it was found that the ultraviolet absorption ability was lower than in Comparative Example 2, in which terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid was not blended but polysilicone-15 was blended. However, due to its unique structure, the composition of the present invention can exhibit high ultraviolet absorption ability even when it simultaneously contains polysilicone-15 and terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid described below.
[0020] Polysilicone-15 is commercially available, for example, Parsol (registered trademark) SLX (manufactured by DSM Corporation).
[0021] When polysilicone-15 is contained in the composition of the present invention, its content is not particularly limited and may be, for example, 0.1% by mass or more, 0.5% by mass or more, 0.8% by mass or more, 1.0% by mass or more, 2.0% by mass or more, 3.0% by mass or more, 4.0% by mass or more, 5.0% by mass or more, 6.0% by mass or more, 7.0% by mass or more, 8.0% by mass or more, or 9.0% by mass or more, and may be 15% by mass or less, 14% by mass or less, 13% by mass or less, 12% by mass or less, 11% by mass or less, 10% by mass or less, 9.0% by mass or less, 8.0% by mass or less, 7.0% by mass or less, 6.0% by mass or less, or 5.0% by mass or less, relative to the entire composition.

[0024] Drometrizole trisiloxane is an oil-soluble UV absorber that can absorb at least a portion of a wide range of UV rays from the UVB region to the UVA region. Therefore, it is preferable that the composition of the present invention contains drometrizole trisiloxane. Furthermore, as shown in the comparative examples described below, in Comparative Example 3, in which drometrizole trisiloxane was used in combination with terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid (described later), the UV absorption ability was found to be lower than in Comparative Example 1, in which drometrizole trisiloxane was used without terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid. However, due to its unique structure, the composition of the present invention can exhibit high UV absorption ability even when it simultaneously contains drometrizole trisiloxane and terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid (described later).
[0025] Drometrizole trisiloxane is commercially available.
[0026] When drometrizole trisiloxane is contained in the composition of the present invention, its content is not particularly limited and may be, for example, 0.1 mass% or more, 0.5 mass% or more, 0.8 mass% or more, 1.0 mass% or more, 2.0 mass% or more, 3.0 mass% or more, 4.0 mass% or more, 5.0 mass% or more, 6.0 mass% or more, 7.0 mass% or more, 8.0 mass% or more, or 9.0 mass% or more, relative to the entire composition, or 10 mass% or less, 9.0 mass% or less, 8.0 mass% or less, 7.0 mass% or less, 6.0 mass% or less, or 5.0 mass% or less.

[0028] <Terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid and salts thereof> The composition of the present invention contains terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid and / or a salt thereof. That is, the composition of the present invention may contain terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid, a salt of terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid, or a mixture thereof.
[0029] Terephthalylidene dicamphorsulfonic acid and its salts are each a type of water-soluble ultraviolet absorber, and can absorb at least a portion of ultraviolet light in the UVA region.

[0085] The present invention will be described in more detail below with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to these. Unless otherwise specified, the blending amounts are expressed in mass %.
[0086] Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 1 to 5 Based on the formulations in Table 1, oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic compositions (milky liquids) of Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 1 to 5 were prepared.
[0087] (Evaluation of UV absorption ability) Each of the prepared compositions was applied to a PMMA plate of artificial skin, i.e., a PMMA plate having irregularities corresponding to skin grooves (SPF MASTER (registered trademark) PA01, manufactured by Shiseido Co., Ltd.) at a concentration of 2 mg / cm. 2 The composition was uniformly applied in an amount of 100 ml and left to dry for 15 minutes. The integrated absorbance values of each sample composition were then measured using a spectrophotometer (U-3500 self-recording spectrophotometer, manufactured by Hitachi, Ltd.) in the wavelength ranges of 321 to 400 nm (UVA region) and 280 to 320 nm (UVB region). The results are shown in Table 1.
[0088] Then, for the obtained integrated ultraviolet absorbance values of each composition, the integrated ultraviolet absorbance values for each of the UVA region and UVB region of Comparative Example 1 were used as a reference to determine the rate of increase or decrease in the ultraviolet absorption ability in each of the UVA region and UVB region of Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 2 to 5 relative to Comparative Example 1. Note that the integrated ultraviolet absorbance values for each of the UVA region and UVB region of Comparative Example 2 were used as a reference to determine the rate of increase or decrease in the ultraviolet absorption ability in each of the UVA region and UVB region of Comparative Example 4 relative to Comparative Example 2.
[0089] For example, the ultraviolet absorption capacity in the UVA region of Example 1 was calculated using the formula "increase ratio of ultraviolet absorption capacity in the UVA region of Example 1 = integrated absorbance value in the UVA region of Example 1 / integrated absorbance value in the UVA region of Comparative Example 1." Furthermore, for example, the ultraviolet absorption capacity in the UVA region of Comparative Example 2 was calculated using the formula "decrease ratio of ultraviolet absorption capacity in the UVA region of Comparative Example 2 = integrated absorbance value in the UVA region of Comparative Example 2 / integrated absorbance value in the UVA region of Comparative Example 1."
[0090] The ultraviolet absorption capacity in the UVA region of Comparative Example 4 was calculated using the formula "reduction ratio of ultraviolet absorption capacity in the UVA region of Comparative Example 4 = integrated absorbance value in the UVA region of Comparative Example 4 / integrated absorbance value in the UVA region of Comparative Example 2."
[0091] The results of the ultraviolet absorbing ability of each sample are shown in Table 1.

[0096] It was also found that the composition of Comparative Example 4 had a reduced ultraviolet absorbing ability in both the UVA and UVB regions compared to Comparative Example 2.
[0097] Examples 4 to 6 and Comparative Examples 6 to 7 Oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic compositions (milky liquids) of Examples 4 to 6 and Comparative Examples 6 and 7 were prepared based on the formulations in Table 3. The UV absorption ability was evaluated in the same manner as above, and the results are shown in Table 3.
[0098] The evaluation standard for the ultraviolet absorbing ability of the compositions of Examples 4 and 5 was Comparative Example 6, and the evaluation standard for the ultraviolet absorbing ability of Example 6 was Comparative Example 7.
[0099] The details of "Other Component A," "Other Component B," and "Other Component C" in Table 3 were the same as those in Table 1 (and Table 2), respectively.
