Abstract
Description
Armrest Assembly Technical Field
[0001] This disclosure relates to the field of automotive technology, and in particular to an armrest assembly. Background Technology
[0002] Handrail assemblies are generally divided into two types: small handrails and large handrails.
[0003] The armrest frame of small armrests typically uses U-shaped tubes. For example, a published patent (application number: CN202322085662.0) discloses a rear seat armrest assembly for automobiles, which uses a U-shaped flat tube as the armrest frame. Because the flat tube has no protrusions, the armrest frame does not need to be covered with a plastic cover and can be directly wrapped with foam. The entire armrest assembly is simple in structure, easy to install, small in size, and lightweight. However, this armrest frame only has a simple cup holder function; it cannot be equipped with features such as an adjuster or stop mechanism, and its structural strength is not high, making it only suitable for simple armrests.
[0004] The armrest frame of a large armrest is typically made of stamped sheet metal or plastic. For example, a published patent (application number: CN201911194696.5) discloses an assembly of a rear seat center armrest frame for automobiles, which uses stamped and welded sheet metal. Another published patent (application number: CN202321736118.1) discloses an armrest with a novel locking mechanism for rear seats of automobiles, which uses a plastic frame. However, regardless of whether it's a stamped sheet metal frame or a plastic frame, to achieve additional functions of the large armrest (such as an adjuster, headrest, stop, etc.), mounting points need to be set on the armrest frame, resulting in several protruding parts on the surface. To achieve concealment and a smooth surface, such large armrests usually require upper and lower plastic covers to be wrapped around the entire surface of the armrest frame before foaming. This directly increases the size, weight, and cost of the large armrest, especially for armrest frames with only localized protrusions, causing unnecessary waste. Summary of the Invention
[0005] To address the aforementioned issues, this disclosure provides an armrest assembly. By using a modular sheet metal assembly, it is easy to expand functions such as an angle adjuster, and it can also strengthen the armrest frame. This modular sheet metal assembly can be easily assembled onto various types of armrest frames as needed, making assembly flexible and convenient.
[0006] This disclosure is achieved through the following solution: an armrest assembly, including an armrest frame and an armrest bracket for fixing to a seat assembly, and further including a modular sheet metal assembly, the modular sheet metal assembly including an adjuster, a first sheet metal, a second sheet metal, and a bridging sheet metal; the first sheet metal and the second sheet metal are respectively fixedly connected to both sides of the armrest frame, and the bridging sheet metal is fixedly connected between the first sheet metal and the second sheet metal; the armrest bracket has a first connecting leg and a second connecting leg respectively connected to the first sheet metal and the second sheet metal; the adjuster is located between the armrest bracket and the armrest frame, and the rotating disk and the fixed disk of the adjuster are respectively fixedly connected to the armrest frame and the armrest bracket; under the action of the adjuster, the armrest frame can rotate relative to the armrest bracket.
[0007] In this disclosure, the modular sheet metal assembly facilitates the expansion of functional modules such as angle adjusters and enhances the strength of the handrail frame. This modular sheet metal assembly can be easily assembled onto various types of handrail frames as needed, offering flexible and convenient assembly. Furthermore, by integrating functional modules such as angle adjusters and installing them as a single modular sheet metal assembly at the opening of the handrail frame, additional functions are enriched while concentrating their installation location. Only the modular sheet metal assembly area needs to be covered with a plastic cover, eliminating the need to cover the entire handrail frame, further reducing the size, weight, and cost of the handrail assembly.
[0008] In some embodiments, the angle adjuster is located between the first connecting leg and the first sheet metal, and the rotating disk and the fixed disk of the angle adjuster are respectively fixedly connected to the first sheet metal and the first connecting leg.
[0009] In some embodiments, a first stop mechanism is provided between the modular sheet metal assembly and the armrest bracket to limit the armrest frame by preventing the first sheet metal from rotating relative to the first connecting leg when the armrest frame rotates relative to the armrest bracket to a designed open position. The first stop mechanism is located between the first sheet metal and the first connecting leg. This advantageously limits the armrest frame by means of the first stop mechanism. Furthermore, the first stop mechanism is entirely located inside the armrest bracket, requiring minimal external space and making it suitable for applications with stringent requirements on armrest dimensions.
[0010] In some embodiments, the fixed plate is fixedly connected to the first connecting leg via a first shaft; preferably, the first stop mechanism includes a first limiting stop fixedly connected to the first shaft or the fixed plate and a second limiting stop fixedly connected to the first sheet metal or the rotating plate. When the handrail frame rotates relative to the handrail bracket to the designed open position, the second limiting stop contacts the first limiting stop and is blocked and limited by the first limiting stop.
[0011] In some embodiments, the rotating disk has an unlocking point exposed to the inner side of the first sheet metal; preferably, the armrest assembly further includes an angle adjuster unlocking component disposed inside the armrest frame. The angle adjuster unlocking component includes an unlocking plate and an unlocking pull strap. One end of the unlocking plate is fixed to the unlocking point of the angle adjuster, and the other end of the unlocking plate is hinged to one end of the unlocking pull strap. The other end of the unlocking pull strap passes through the armrest frame and forms an operating end for pulling operation. Thus, by setting the angle adjuster unlocking component, the function of directly unlocking the angle adjuster through the armrest assembly can be realized.
[0012] In some embodiments, the handrail frame is a U-shaped tube, and the bridging sheet metal is a limiting shaft vertically fixed between the first sheet metal and the second sheet metal. When the handrail frame rotates relative to the handrail bracket to the designed open position, the limiting shaft contacts the handrail bracket and is blocked by the handrail bracket to limit the handrail frame.
[0013] In some embodiments, the limiting shaft extends beyond the second sheet metal to form a limiting segment, and a limiting groove is formed on the second connecting leg. When the handrail frame rotates relative to the handrail bracket to the designed open position, the limiting segment is blocked and limited within the limiting groove. If a first stop mechanism, a limiting shaft, and a limiting groove are simultaneously provided, the handrail frame can be limited from both sides through the cooperation of the first stop mechanism and the combination of the limiting shaft and limiting groove. Furthermore, the mutual cooperation of the two stop mechanisms makes the stopping process of the handrail frame more stable, and the overall structure is simple.
[0014] In some embodiments, the second connecting leg is hinged to the second sheet metal via a second shaft member. The second sheet metal has a fixing groove for fixing the limiting shaft and allowing the limiting shaft to extend beyond the second sheet metal, and a first pivot hole for the second shaft member to pass through. The fixing groove and the first pivot hole are offset from each other.
[0015] In some embodiments, the handrail frame is a U-shaped tube or sheet metal frame, the bridging sheet metal is a U-shaped sheet metal, and U-shaped edges are formed at both ends of the U-shaped sheet metal. Supporting edges for the U-shaped edges to overlap and fix are formed on both the first sheet metal and the second sheet metal.
[0016] In some embodiments, a second stop mechanism is further provided between the modular sheet metal assembly and the armrest bracket to limit the armrest frame by preventing the second sheet metal from rotating relative to the armrest bracket when the armrest frame rotates relative to the armrest bracket to a designed open position. The second stop mechanism is located between the second sheet metal and the second connecting leg. This allows for advantageous limitation of the armrest frame by the second stop mechanism. Furthermore, the second stop mechanism is entirely located inside the armrest bracket, requiring minimal external space and making it suitable for applications with stringent requirements on armrest dimensions. When both the first and second stop mechanisms are provided, their cooperation allows for limitation of the armrest frame from both sides. The mutual cooperation of the two stop mechanisms makes the stopping process of the armrest frame smoother and the overall structure simpler.
[0017] In some embodiments, the second connecting leg is hinged to the second sheet metal via a third shaft, and an adapter sleeve for the third shaft to pass through is fixedly connected to the second sheet metal; preferably, the second stopping mechanism includes a third limiting stop fixedly connected to the outer circumferential surface of the third shaft and a fourth limiting stop fixedly connected to the inner circumferential surface of the adapter sleeve. When the handrail frame rotates relative to the handrail bracket to the designed open position, the fourth limiting stop contacts the third limiting stop and is blocked and limited by the third limiting stop.
[0018] In some embodiments, the modular sheet metal assembly further includes a damper located on the inner side of the second sheet metal; the damping limiting shaft of the damper is fixedly connected to the second sheet metal, and the damping rotating shaft of the damper is fixedly connected to a third shaft. Besides the angle adjuster, the modular sheet metal assembly of this disclosure also facilitates the expansion of the damper functional modules. Furthermore, by integrating functional modules such as the angle adjuster and the damper together and installing them as a modular sheet metal assembly at the opening of the handrail frame, the additional functions are further enriched while also concentrating the installation location of the additional functions. Moreover, only the portion of the modular sheet metal assembly needs to be covered with a plastic cover, eliminating the need to cover the entire handrail frame, further reducing the volume, weight, and cost of the handrail assembly.
[0019] In some embodiments, the armrest assembly further includes an upper cover and a lower cover that enclose the modular sheet metal assembly, as well as an upper foam, a lower foam, and a cover disposed outside the upper cover and the lower cover. Attached Figure Description

[0066] To address the problems of traditional handrails, which are either functionally limited and weak, or structurally complex, bulky, and heavy, this disclosure provides a handrail assembly. Through the modular sheet metal assembly, the handrail assembly not only functions as an angle adjuster but also strengthens the handrail frame through sheet metal modules. The modular sheet metal assembly can be easily assembled onto various types of handrail frames as needed, offering flexible and convenient assembly. The following detailed description, in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, further illustrates this handrail assembly using specific embodiments.
[0067] Referring to Figures 1 to 45, an armrest assembly includes an armrest frame 1 with an opening at one end, an armrest bracket 2 for fixing to a seat assembly, and a modular sheet metal assembly 3. The modular sheet metal assembly 3 includes an adjuster 34, a first sheet metal 31, a second sheet metal 32, and a bridging sheet metal 33. The first sheet metal 31 and the second sheet metal 32 are respectively fixedly connected to both sides of the opening of the armrest frame 1, and the bridging sheet metal 33 is fixedly connected to the first sheet metal 31 and the second sheet metal 32. Between the second sheet metal 32; the handrail bracket 2 has a first connecting leg 21 and a second connecting leg 22 located on the outer sides of the first sheet metal 31 and the second sheet metal 32 respectively. The angle adjuster 34 is located between the first connecting leg 21 and the first sheet metal 31, and the rotating disk 341 and the fixed disk 342 of the angle adjuster 34 are fixedly connected to the first sheet metal 31 and the first connecting leg 21 respectively. The second connecting leg 22 is hingedly connected to the second sheet metal 32. The angle adjuster 34 can also be located between the second connecting leg 22 and the second sheet metal 32. Correspondingly, the rotating disk 341 and the fixed disk 342 are fixedly connected to the second sheet metal 32 and the second connecting leg 22 respectively, and the first connecting leg 21 is hingedly connected to the first sheet metal 31. Alternatively, there may be two angle adjusters 34, with one located between the first connecting leg 21 and the first sheet metal 31, and the other between the second connecting leg 22 and the second sheet metal 32. The fixing method of the rotating disk 341 and the fixed disk 342 is the same as above, and will not be described in detail here. Under the action of the angle adjuster 34, the handrail frame 1 can rotate relative to the handrail bracket 2.
[0068] This disclosure, through the modular sheet metal assembly 3, facilitates the expansion of functional modules such as the angle adjuster 34, and can strengthen the armrest frame 1. This modular sheet metal assembly 3 can be easily assembled onto various types of armrest frames 1 as needed, offering flexible and convenient assembly. Specific embodiments are described below:
[0069] First Embodiment: Referring to Figures 1 to 16, the modular sheet metal assembly 3 integrates the functions of an angle adjuster and a stop function. In this embodiment, the handrail frame 1 adopts a U-shaped tube (such as a U-shaped round tube or a U-shaped flat tube), which has a simple structure, light weight, and low cost, and belongs to a simple configuration handrail. Specifically, the handrail frame 1 includes two main tubes 11 arranged parallel to each other and a web tube 12 fixed to one end of the two main tubes. The ends of the two main tubes 11 away from the web tube 12 form the opening. The modular sheet metal assembly 3 is disposed at the opening. Specifically, one end of the first sheet metal 31 is fixed to the end of one of the main tubes 11, and the other end of the first sheet metal 31 is provided with a first mounting hole 311 for the rotating disk 341 of the angle adjuster 34 to be fixedly connected (see Figure 6). The bridging sheet metal 33 is a limiting shaft vertically fixed to the inner side of the first sheet metal 31 and offset from the rotation center of the angle adjuster 34. The second sheet metal 32 is a U-shaped sleeve, which is fitted and fixed to the end of another main pipe 11. The second sheet metal 32 has a first fixing groove 321 for fixing the limiting shaft. The second sheet metal 32 has a first pivot hole 322 at the position of the rotation center of the angle adjuster 34. Correspondingly, the end of the other main pipe 11 also has a fixing groove 321 at the position of the first fixing groove for fixing the limiting shaft. The second fixing groove 13 also has a second pivot hole 14 at the position of the first pivot hole 322. The second connecting leg 22 is hinged to the second sheet metal 32 and the other main pipe 11 through the second shaft 23. Specifically, when the second sheet metal 32 is sleeved and fixed to the end of the other main pipe 11, the first pivot hole 322 and the second pivot hole 14 are aligned with each other. The second shaft 23 passes through and is fixed to the first pivot hole 322 and the second pivot hole 14, so that the handrail frame 1 can rotate relative to the handrail bracket 2.
[0070] Preferably, the module sheet metal assembly 3 is provided with a first stop mechanism for limiting the rotation of the first sheet metal 31 relative to the fixed plate 342 when the handrail frame 1 rotates relative to the handrail bracket 2 to the designed open position (as shown in Figure 1, the handrail assembly is in the designed open position corresponding to state S1, and the handrail assembly is in the closed position corresponding to state S2). The first stop mechanism is located between the first sheet metal 31 and the first connecting leg 21. Specifically, as shown in Figures 4 to 6, the fixed plate 342 is fixedly connected to the first connecting leg 21 via the first shaft 35; the first stop mechanism includes a first limiting stop 36 fixedly connected to the first shaft 35 and a second limiting stop 37 fixedly connected to the first sheet metal 31. In this embodiment, the first limiting stop 36 is a lotus root-shaped limiting piece, which is fixedly connected to the fixed plate 342 of the angle adjuster 34. An outwardly extending limiting portion 361 is formed at its edge. A first shaft hole 362 is opened at the rotation center of the angle adjuster 34. One end of the first shaft 35 is inserted into and fixedly connected to the first shaft hole 362. A second shaft hole 211 is opened on the first connecting leg 21. The other end of the first shaft 35 is inserted into and fixedly connected to the second shaft hole 211. To ensure reliable fixation of the first shaft 35, it is preferable that both ends of the first shaft 35 are formed into irregular shapes, and the first shaft hole 362 and the second shaft hole 211 are both irregularly shaped holes adapted to the corresponding ends of the first shaft 35. A first snap-fit groove 312 is provided on the first sheet metal 31. One end of the second limiting stop 37 is inserted into and fixed to the first snap-fit groove 312, and the other end is disposed on the periphery of the angle adjuster 34 in a direction parallel to the first shaft 35 (see Figure 7). It is conceivable that the first limiting stop can also be fixedly connected to the fixed plate of the angle adjuster, and / or the second limiting stop can also be fixedly connected to the rotating plate.
[0071] Preferably, as shown in Figures 1, 5, and 11 to 13, the limiting shaft extends through the first fixing groove 321 to form a limiting segment 331, and the second connecting leg 22 has a limiting groove 221. When the handrail frame 1 rotates relative to the handrail bracket 2 to the designed open position (i.e., state S1 in Figure 1), the limiting segment 331 is blocked and limited within the limiting groove 221. Through the cooperation of the first stop mechanism and the combination mechanism of the limiting shaft and limiting groove 221, the handrail frame 1 can be limited from both sides. The stop mechanisms on both sides cooperate with each other, making the stopping process of the handrail frame 1 more stable and the overall structure simple. In addition, the first stop mechanism is located entirely inside the handrail bracket 2, and the limiting shaft only needs to extend out of the second connecting leg 22, without occupying too much external space of the handrail bracket 2, which is suitable for applications with strict requirements on handrail size.
[0072] More preferably, as shown in Figures 6-10, the center of the rotating disk 341 is provided with an unlocking point 343, which is exposed on the inner side of the first sheet metal 31 through the first mounting hole 311. The handrail assembly also includes an angle adjuster unlocking assembly disposed inside the handrail frame 1. The angle adjuster unlocking assembly includes an unlocking plate 41 and an unlocking pull strap 42. One end of the unlocking plate 41 is fixed to the unlocking point 343 of the angle adjuster 34, and the other end of the unlocking plate 41 is hinged to one end of the unlocking pull strap 42. The other end of the unlocking pull strap 42 passes through the handrail frame 1 and forms an operating end 421 for pulling operation. In order to limit the pulling path of the unlocking pull strap 42, a first zipper fastener 43 is provided on the first sheet metal 31, and a second cable fastener 44 is provided on the handrail frame 1. As shown in Figures 6-8, the first sheet metal 31 has a second locking groove 313. One end of the first cable fixing member 43 is inserted into and fixed in the second locking groove 313, and the other end forms a bayonet 431. A fixing sleeve 422 is sleeved on the unlocking pull strap 42 at the position corresponding to the bayonet 431. The unlocking pull strap 42 is secured at the bayonet 431 by the fixing sleeve 422 to achieve the first fixed point on the pulling path. As shown in Figures 2, 3, 10 and 14, the second cable fixing member 44 includes a fixing sheet metal 441 fixed inside a main pipe 11 of the handrail frame 1. The unlocking pull strap 42 is engaged with the fixing sheet metal 441 near the operating end 421 to achieve the second fixed point on the pulling path. A cable cover 442 is provided at the second fixed point and is fastened and fixed to the fixing sheet metal 441. To prevent the unlocking pull strap 42 from getting stuck when pulled, the fixed sheet metal 441 is also provided with a pull strap roller 443 and a pull strap roller shaft 444 to facilitate the movement of the unlocking pull strap 42. The pull strap roller 443 and the pull strap roller assembly 444 are covered by the cable cover 442 together with the unlocking pull strap 42.
[0073] Regarding the movement of the angle adjuster unlocking assembly: Referring to Figures 1 and 8-10, when the armrest frame 1 is in the closed state (i.e., state S2 in Figure 1), the angle adjuster 34 is in the locked state. At this time, the positions of the unlocking piece 41 and the unlocking pull strap 42 are shown in Figure 8. When it is necessary to open the armrest, the angle adjuster 34 can be unlocked from the outside of the armrest assembly, as shown in Figure 9. Pull the operating end 421 of the unlocking pull strap 42 along the A1 direction. The unlocking pull strap 42 will move along the A2 direction, thereby causing the unlocking piece 41 to start swinging clockwise. Since the unlocking point 343 of the unlocking piece 41 and the angle adjuster 34 is fixed to each other, when the unlocking piece 41 starts to swing clockwise, the unlocking point 343 will rotate clockwise. When the unlocking point 343 rotates clockwise by a certain angle (the angle that meets the unlocking requirements, i.e., the state shown in Figure 9), the angle adjuster 34 is unlocked. Further as shown in Figure 10, after the angle adjuster 34 is unlocked, under the rotation of the rotating disk 341 of the angle adjuster 34 relative to the fixed disk 342, the first sheet metal 31 will drive the armrest frame 1 to move in the opening direction. At this time, the entire angle adjuster unlocking assembly moves with the movement of the armrest frame 1 until the fully open state shown in Figure 10 (i.e., the S1 state in Figure 1).
[0074] Regarding the stop movement on both sides of the handrail frame 1: Referring to Figures 1 and 11-13, when the handrail frame 1 is in the closed state (i.e., state S2 in Figure 1), the positions of the unlocking plate 41, unlocking pull strap 42, first limiting stop 36, second limiting stop 37, limiting section 331 of the limiting shaft, and limiting groove 221 are shown in Figure 11. There is a certain distance between the limiting part 361 of the first limiting stop 36 and the second limiting stop 37, and there is also a certain distance between the limiting section 331 of the limiting shaft and the limiting groove 221. When it is necessary to open the handrail, the unlocking pull strap 42 is pulled according to the above-mentioned angle adjuster unlocking method, so that the unlocking point 343 rotates clockwise by a certain angle, as shown in Figure 12. During this rotation, the positions of the first limiting stop 36, the second limiting stop 37, the limiting shaft, and the limiting groove 221 do not change. After the angle adjuster 34 is unlocked, as shown in Figure 13, under the rotation of the rotating disk 341 of the angle adjuster 34 relative to the fixed disk 342, the first sheet metal 31 drives the armrest frame 1 to move in the opening direction. Since the second limiting stop 37 is fixedly connected to the first sheet metal 31, and the first limiting stop 36 is fixedly connected to the armrest bracket 2, and the armrest bracket 2 is fixed to the seat assembly and remains stationary, when the armrest frame 1 rotates in the opening direction, it will drive the first sheet metal 31 and the second limiting stop 37 to rotate. When the armrest frame 1 moves to the fully open state (i.e., state S1 in Figure 1), the second limiting stop 37 moves clockwise to contact the limiting part 361 of the first limiting stop 36. The limiting part 361 blocks the second limiting stop 37 to prevent the armrest frame 1 from continuing to move, thereby achieving a stop on one side. In addition, since the limiting shaft is fixedly connected to the handrail frame 1, and the limiting groove 221 is formed on the handrail bracket 2, when the handrail frame 1 rotates in the opening direction, it will drive the limiting shaft to move, while the limiting groove 221 remains stationary. When the handrail frame 1 moves to the fully open state, the limiting segment 331 of the limiting shaft moves clockwise into the limiting groove 221, and the limiting groove 221 blocks the limiting segment 331 to prevent the handrail frame 1 from continuing to move, thereby achieving the stop on the other side.
[0075] In this embodiment, the angle adjuster 34 is integrated into the modular sheet metal assembly 3 and installed as a whole at the opening of the handrail frame 1. This allows the U-shaped tube handrail frame 1 to have both an angle adjuster and a stop function, enriching the additional functions while concentrating the installation location of the additional functions. Only the part of the modular sheet metal assembly needs to be covered with a plastic cover, without having to cover the entire handrail frame. As shown in Figures 2 and 3, in addition to the basic frame composed of the handrail frame 1, handrail bracket 2 and modular sheet metal assembly 3, the handrail assembly of this embodiment also includes an upper cover 51 and a lower cover 52, an upper foam 53 and a lower foam 54, and a cover 55, which are arranged layer by layer from the basic frame outward. Regarding the upper cover 51 and the lower cover 52, they are usually used to cover the protruding parts in the basic frame. In this embodiment, on the one hand, a U-shaped tube with no protrusions is used as the handrail frame 1. On the other hand, the angle adjuster 34 is integrated into the modular sheet metal assembly 3 and centrally installed on one side of the opening of the handrail frame 1. Therefore, the upper cover 51 and the lower cover 52 used in this embodiment are only used to wrap the position of the modular sheet metal assembly 3, without having to wrap the entire handrail frame 1, thus reducing the volume, weight and cost of the handrail assembly.
[0076] Preferably, some commonly used functions, such as headrests and cup holders, can be added to the armrest assembly. For armrest assemblies with headrests and cup holders, a support frame should be provided on the armrest frame 1 accordingly. As shown in Figures 4 and 5, a headrest rod 16 is fixed to the closed end (i.e., the end of the abdominal tube 12) of the armrest frame 1, and a headrest rod support 17 is fixed near the closed end. The two ends of the headrest rod support 17 are respectively fixed to two main tubes 11. The front end of the headrest rod 16 extends forward and downward to accommodate the headrest, and the rear end of the headrest rod 16 is fixed to the bottom surface of the abdominal tube 12 and the headrest rod support 17 to increase the fixing surface and improve the fixing strength. In addition, two cup holder frame supports 15 are fixed between the two main tubes 11 to support the cup holder frame 56 of the cup holder structure.
[0077] The assembly process of this embodiment will be briefly described below with reference to Figures 14 to 16:
[0078] First, after installing the basic frame (including the handrail frame 1, handrail bracket 2, and modular sheet metal assembly 3), install the cover and the angle adjuster unlocking assembly. When installing the cover, use the upper cover 51 and the lower cover 52 to seal the gap between the first sheet metal 31 and the first connecting leg 21. The cover fixing sheet metal 314 is pre-fixed on the first sheet metal 31, and the upper cover 51 and the lower cover 52 are connected and fixed to the cover fixing sheet metal 314 using screws. When installing the angle adjuster unlocking assembly, the fixed sheet metal 441 is fixed to the handrail frame 1 in advance, the first cable fixing member 43 is fixed to the first sheet metal 31, the unlocking plate 41 is fixed at the unlocking point 343, and then the unlocking pull strap 42 is installed. The unlocking pull strap 42 is snapped onto the first cable fixing member 43 and the fixed sheet metal 441, one end of the unlocking pull strap 42 is hinged to the unlocking plate 41, and the other end extends out of the handrail frame 1 to form the operating end 421. Finally, the cable cover 442 is fixed to the fixed sheet metal 441 with screws.
[0079] Next, install the foam and cover 55. Attach the upper foam 53 and lower foam 54 to the upper and lower surfaces of the basic frame containing the cover and adjuster unlocking assembly, respectively. Then, fit the cover 55 over the outer surface of the foam. For armrest assemblies with cup holder structures, after attaching the foam, install the cup holder frame 56 in the corresponding position, and then fit the cover 55.
[0080] Finally, install panel 57 and panel trim 58.
[0081] Second Embodiment: Referring to Figures 17 to 36, the modular sheet metal assembly 3 integrates the functions of an angle adjuster, damping, and stop. In this embodiment, the handrail frame 1 uses a U-shaped tube, which has a simple structure, is easy to platformize, and has wide applicability, belonging to a medium-configuration handrail. Specifically, compared with the first embodiment, this embodiment differs in that the modular sheet metal assembly 3 also includes a damper 38 located on the inner side of the second sheet metal 32. In order to realize the installation of the damper 38 and ensure the structural strength of the handrail frame 1, the second sheet metal 32 and the bridging sheet metal 33 in this embodiment are different from those in the first embodiment. Specifically, in this embodiment, the bridging sheet metal 33 is a U-shaped sheet metal, the second sheet metal 32 has a structure similar to the first sheet metal 31, the second connecting leg 22 is hinged to the second sheet metal 32, and both ends of the bridging sheet metal 33 have enlarged U-shaped edges 332. The first sheet metal 31 and the second sheet metal 32 respectively have first receiving edges 315 and second receiving edges 323 for overlapping and fixing the U-shaped edges 332. By setting the bridging sheet metal 33 to a U-shape, the opening of the handrail frame 1 can be reinforced on three sides, ensuring the structural strength of the handrail frame 1 and meeting the requirements of a large handrail. Furthermore, the cooperation of the enlarged U-shaped edges 332 and the two receiving edges ensures the contact area and connection strength between them.
[0082] The installation of the damper 38 is shown in Figures 25-29: The damper 38 includes a damping shaft 381, a damping limiting shaft 382, and a damping limiting shaft bracket 383. The damping limiting shaft 382 is fixedly connected to the second sheet metal 32 through the damping limiting shaft bracket 383. The damping shaft 381 passes through the second sheet metal 32 through a third shaft member 39 and is fixedly connected to the second connecting leg 22. Specifically, a second mounting hole 325 is provided on the second sheet metal 32 at the rotation center position of the angle adjuster 34. An adapter sleeve 326 for the third shaft 39 to pass through is fixedly connected in the second mounting hole 325. The damping shaft 381 is coaxially connected to the third shaft 39. The damping limiting shaft bracket 383 is fixedly connected to the second sheet metal 32. The damping limiting shaft 382 is in contact with the stop block 386 of the damper 38, and a felt 384 is provided between the two. One end of the damping limiting shaft 382 is fixed to the damping limiting shaft bracket 383, and the other end extends out of the stop block 386 and is engaged with an open retaining ring 385 to limit the axial position of the damper 38. When the handrail frame 1 rotates, the damping shaft 381 remains stationary, while the damping limiting shaft 382 rotates with the rotation of the handrail frame 1. Under the action of the damper 38, it provides damping for the rotational motion of the handrail frame 1. The detailed structure and working principle of the damper 38 are existing technologies and will not be described in detail here.
[0083] Preferably, the modular sheet metal assembly 3 is provided with a second stop mechanism for limiting the handrail frame 1 by preventing the second sheet metal 32 from rotating relative to the damping shaft 381 when the handrail frame 1 rotates relative to the handrail bracket 2 to the designed open position (i.e., state S1 in FIG. 1). The second stop mechanism is located between the second sheet metal 32 and the damper 38. Specifically, the second stop mechanism includes a third limiting stop 391 fixedly connected to the outer circumferential surface of the third shaft 39 and a fourth limiting stop 327 fixedly connected to the inner circumferential surface of the adapter sleeve 326. When the handrail frame 1 rotates relative to the handrail bracket 2 to the designed open position, the fourth limiting stop 327 contacts the third limiting stop 391 and is blocked and limited by the third limiting stop 391. One end of the third shaft member 39 has a locking hole 392 for securing the damping shaft 381, and the other end of the third shaft member 39 extends through the adapter sleeve 326 and is fixedly connected to the second connecting leg 22. In this embodiment, as shown in FIG25, the third shaft member 39 is divided into a left shaft section 39a, a middle shaft section 39b, and a right shaft section 39c. The locking hole 392 is formed in the right shaft section 39c. There are two third limiting stops 391, which are symmetrically arranged on the outer circumferential surface of the right shaft section 39c. The left shaft section 39a is irregularly shaped. The adapter sleeve 326 is divided into a left cylindrical section 326a and a right cylindrical section 326b. A bushing 328 is fitted inside the left cylindrical section 326a for the middle shaft section 39b to rotatably pass through. There are two fourth limiting stops 327, which are symmetrically arranged. On the inner circumferential surface of the right cylinder section 326b, the two fourth limiting stops 327 divide the inner wall of the right cylinder section 326b into two circumferential sections (i.e., the areas shown by the arc arrows in Figures 33 to 35). The inner diameter of the right cylinder section 326b is adapted to the outer diameter of the right shaft section 39c. When the right shaft section 39c is inserted into the right cylinder section 326b, the two third limiting stops 391 are respectively located in the two circumferential sections. The left shaft section 39a passes through the adapter sleeve 326 and is formed into an irregular shape. The second connecting leg 22 is correspondingly provided with an irregular third shaft hole 222 for the left shaft section to be inserted and fixed.
[0084] In this embodiment, the structures of the angle adjuster 34, the first sheet metal 31, the first stop mechanism, and the angle adjuster unlocking assembly are the same as in the first embodiment, and will not be described in detail here. The movement of the angle adjuster unlocking assembly is also the same as in the first embodiment, as shown in Figures 1 and 30-32.
[0085] Of course, in some embodiments, the damper may not be provided. The difference from the second embodiment is that the other side is only connected to the second connecting leg 22 by the third shaft 39 passing through the second sheet metal 32. The second sheet metal 32 has a second mounting hole 325 at the rotation center position of the angle adjuster 34. The adapter sleeve 326 for the third shaft 39 to pass through is fixedly connected in the second mounting hole 325. The specific structural form of the adapter sleeve 326 and the third shaft 39 can be the same as that in the second embodiment to form the second stop mechanism.
[0086] Regarding the stop movement on both sides of the handrail frame 1: Referring to Figures 1 and 33-35, when the handrail frame 1 is in the closed state (i.e., state S2 in Figure 1), the positions of the unlocking plate 41, unlocking strap 42, first limiting stop 36, second limiting stop 37, third limiting stop 391, and fourth limiting stop 327 are shown in Figure 33. There is a certain distance between the limiting part 361 of the first limiting stop 36 and the second limiting stop 37. The two third limiting stops 391 are located within two circumferential sections and are in contact with the first surfaces of the two fourth limiting stops 327. When the handrail needs to be opened, the unlocking strap 42 is pulled according to the above-described angle adjuster unlocking method, causing the unlocking point 343 to rotate clockwise by a certain angle, as shown in Figure 34. During this rotation, the positions of the first limiting stop 36, second limiting stop 37, third limiting stop 391, and fourth limiting stop 327 do not change. After the angle adjuster 34 is unlocked, as shown in Figure 35, under the rotation of the rotating disk 341 of the angle adjuster 34 relative to the fixed disk 342, the first sheet metal 31 drives the armrest frame 1 to move in the opening direction. Since the second limiting stop 37 is fixedly connected to the first sheet metal 31, and the first limiting stop 36 is fixedly connected to the armrest bracket 2, and the armrest bracket 2 is fixed to the seat assembly and remains stationary, when the armrest frame 1 moves in the opening direction, it will drive the first sheet metal 31 and the second limiting stop 37 to move. When the armrest frame 1 moves to the fully open state (i.e., state S1 in Figure 1), the second limiting stop 37 moves clockwise to contact the limiting part 361 of the first limiting stop 36. The limiting part 361 blocks the first limiting stop 36 to prevent the armrest frame 1 from continuing to move, thereby achieving a stop on one side. Furthermore, since the third limiting stop 391 is fixedly connected to the handrail bracket 2 based on the third shaft 39, and the fourth limiting stop 327 is fixedly connected to the second sheet metal 32 based on the adapter sleeve 326, when the handrail frame 1 moves in the opening direction, the adapter sleeve 326 rotates accordingly, while the two third limiting stops 391 remain stationary. This causes the positions of the two fourth limiting stops 327 relative to the two third limiting stops 391 to change. When the handrail frame 1 moves to the fully open state, the two third limiting stops 391 contact the second surfaces of the two fourth limiting stops 327 opposite to the first surface, thereby blocking the two fourth limiting stops 327 and preventing the handrail frame 1 from continuing to move, thus achieving the stop on the other side.
[0087] In this embodiment, the angle adjuster 34 and damper 38 are integrated onto the modular sheet metal assembly 3 and installed as a whole at the opening of the handrail frame 1. This allows the U-shaped tube handrail frame 1 to simultaneously function as an angle adjuster, damper, and stop, enriching the additional functions while concentrating their installation location. Only the portion of the modular sheet metal assembly needs to be covered with a plastic cover, eliminating the need to cover the entire handrail frame 1. Specifically, as shown in Figures 17 and 18, compared to the first embodiment, this embodiment uses larger upper and lower covers 51 and 52 to cover the portion of the modular sheet metal assembly 3, reducing the volume, weight, and cost of the handrail assembly. The assembly process in this embodiment is basically the same as in the first embodiment, as shown in Figure 36.
[0088] Third Embodiment: Referring to Figures 37 to 45, the modular sheet metal assembly 3 integrates the functions of an angle adjuster, damping, and stop. The armrest frame 1 in this embodiment uses a sheet metal frame, which is high in strength, heavy, and long, facilitating platformization and representing a luxury armrest configuration. This embodiment differs from the second embodiment only in the armrest frame 1. By using a sheet metal frame as the armrest frame 1, and because mounting holes can be provided on the sheet metal frame, the armrest assembly in this embodiment can be configured with more functions, such as storage space and a display panel, as shown in Figures 37 to 39. In addition to the basic frame composed of the armrest frame 1, armrest support 2, and modular sheet metal assembly 3, the armrest assembly in this embodiment also includes a storage box assembly 61, an armrest covering assembly 62, a right side trim panel 63, a left side trim panel 64, a cover assembly 66, a headrest covering assembly 67, and a cup holder assembly 69. The assembly process includes: first, connecting the armrest body covering assembly 62 to the basic frame with screws; then, snapping on the unlocking strap 42; connecting the headrest covering assembly 67 and the cup holder assembly 69 with screws, specifically inserting the cup holder assembly 69 into the headrest covering assembly 67 and then connecting it to the basic frame with screws; next, snapping on the storage box assembly 61 to the basic frame and securing it with screws; then, snapping on the right side trim panel 63, the left side trim panel 64, and the panel assembly 68; finally, using a pin, flipping the cover assembly 66 onto the storage box assembly 61, so that when the cover assembly 66 is opened, the storage space of the storage box assembly 61 can be exposed for easy placement of objects. In this embodiment, the panel assembly 68 can be configured as a panel with a display, and the required wiring harness assembly 65 is laid between the storage box assembly 61 and the basic frame. Since the handrail assembly in this embodiment needs to be configured with more functions, the strength requirements of the basic frame structure are higher. Therefore, a sheet metal frame is required as the handrail skeleton 1. Correspondingly, a support structure for supporting the functional modules should also be pre-set on the handrail skeleton 1, as shown in Figures 40 to 45. The handrail skeleton 1 includes two parallel and opposite main sheet metal 11a. The module sheet metal assembly 3 is installed on the open side of one end of the two main sheet metal 11a. The two main sheet metal 11a are inserted into and fixed on the opposite inner sides of the first sheet metal 31 and the second sheet metal 32. An angle adjuster 34 is set between the first sheet metal 31 and the first connecting leg 21. A damper 38 is set on the opposite inner side of the second sheet metal 32. Some auxiliary reinforcing parts are provided between the two main sheet metals 11a. These auxiliary reinforcing parts are flexibly set according to the different functions configured in the armrest assembly. For example, as shown in Figures 40, 41 and 44, a middle support 19 and a front support 18 are fixedly connected between the middle part and the other end of the two main sheet metals 11a, respectively, to support the storage box assembly 61.As shown in Figures 42, 43, and 45, a headrest support rod 671, a headrest support sheet metal 672, a pull strap unlocking mechanism 673, a panel support sheet metal 681, and a support rib 691 are fixedly installed between the two main sheet metals 11a at the other end opening of the armrest frame 1. The headrest support sheet metal 672 and the headrest support rod 671 are used to support the headrest covering assembly 67; the pull strap unlocking mechanism 673 is used to support the unlocking pull strap 42; the panel support sheet metal 681 is used to support the panel assembly 68; the support rib 691 is U-shaped and fixed between the two main sheet metals 11a with its opening facing downwards, and is used to support the cup holder assembly 69.
[0089] The structure and operating principle of the modular sheet metal assembly 3, the two side stop mechanisms, and the angle adjuster unlocking component are the same as those in the second embodiment, and will not be repeated here.
[0090] In summary, the modular sheet metal assembly 3 of this disclosure can be easily assembled onto various types of handrail frames 1 (as in the three embodiments described above, corresponding to simple handrails, medium-configuration handrails, and deluxe configuration handrails, respectively), offering flexible and convenient assembly. Furthermore, the modular sheet metal assembly 3 can integrate an angle adjuster, damping function, and stop function, without occupying a significant amount of external space in the handrail bracket 2, making it suitable for applications with high requirements for handrail dimensions. It should be noted that the dimensions of the first sheet metal 31 and the second sheet metal 32, where the handrail frame 1 is connected, are pre-sized to allow for installation, accommodating handrail frames 1 of different sizes. As shown in Figures 19, 21, and 45, the distance between the two first receiving edges 315 of the first sheet metal 31 and the distance between the two second receiving edges 323 of the second sheet metal 32 are both greater than the vertical diameters of the main pipe 11 and the main sheet metal 11a. For the first embodiment, the width of the U-shaped opening of the second sheet metal 32 is greater than the thickness of the main pipe 11. The above are only some preferred embodiments. The modular sheet metal assembly 3 disclosed herein can also be used for other types of handrail frames, which will not be listed here.
[0091] The present disclosure has been described in detail above with reference to the accompanying drawings and embodiments. Those skilled in the art can make various modifications to the present disclosure based on the above description. Therefore, certain details in the embodiments should not be construed as limiting the present disclosure, and the scope of the present disclosure shall be defined by the appended claims.
