Abstract
Description
Non-irritating, easily removable, reusable functional eyelashes and their manufacturing method
[0001] The present invention relates to a non-irritating, multi-use functional eyelash and a method for manufacturing the same, characterized in that the multi-use artificial eyelash comprises a film to which artificial hair is attached and an adhesive member formed on the lower surface of the film, thereby enabling easy attachment and detachment without irritation.
[0002] False eyelashes are a useful beauty accessory that allows you to achieve makeup effects without the need for separate eyelash extensions. Not only can they shorten makeup application time, they also make eyelashes appear longer and fuller, making eyes appear more defined and larger.
[0003] However, safety concerns have persisted regarding the adhesives used to attach these false eyelashes, commonly referred to as "glues." Adhesives used in eyelash extensions often contain ingredients like toluene and formaldehyde, which are known to cause dermatitis and cancer. In particular, some products have been found to contain hazardous ingredients exceeding standards, which has undermined consumer trust in the industry.
[0004] In addition, disposable eyelash adhesives have to be precisely applied to thin eyelash lines, making them difficult to peel off and attach, and there is also the hassle of having to purchase eyelash glue separately.
[0005] Accordingly, Korean Patent No. 10-1346676 (registration date: December 24, 2013) disclosed a technology for adhesive-type false eyelashes, but since the adhesive side of the protective tape is removed and used by attaching it to the epidermis of the double eyelid of the user, the tape itself has the problem of a foreign body sensation and discomfort when peeling.
[0006] In addition, Korean Patent Publication No. 10-2023-0052974 (publication date: April 20, 2023) discloses a technology for eyelash extensions that can be used immediately, but it is difficult for the general user to follow because the user's eyelashes and the middle line of the false eyelashes must be aligned by attaching a drop of "glue" in the 'middle' of the false eyelashes to connect the false eyelashes to the original eyelashes, and there is a problem that it is difficult to use without proficiency.
[0007] In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a multi-use artificial eyelash that is easy to attach and detach without irritation, by forming a film with artificial hair attached and a hot melt adhesive material on the lower surface of the film.
[0008] The present invention provides a multi-use artificial eyelash lash by forming an adhesive member on a lower surface of a film to which artificial hair is attached.
[0009] The present invention provides a non-irritating, easily attachable, and detachable multi-functional eyelash comprising a hot melt styrene terminal copolymer of a solid viscous substance, a petroleum-based resin, a petroleum-based process oil, and an antioxidant as adhesive materials.
[0010] The present invention is easy to attach and detach compared to conventional artificial eyelashes and is easy and convenient to use as it does not require the use of a separate adhesive.
[0011] The present invention is effective in that it does not irritate the skin compared to conventional artificial eyelashes, so even users with sensitive skin can use it with confidence.
[0012] Figure 1 is an actual photograph showing the ease of attachment and detachment of multi-use functional eyelashes that are easy to attach and detach without irritation.

[0017]
[0018] The present invention is characterized by being an artificial eyelash that can be used multiple times by forming a film (10) to which an artificial eyelash (11) is attached and an adhesive member (12) on the lower surface of the film (10).
[0019] Additionally, the artificial hair (11) and film (10) may be made of polybutylene terephthalate, but are not limited thereto.
[0020] In addition, the adhesive material (12) includes a styrene terminal copolymer, a petroleum-based resin, a petroleum-based process oil, and an antioxidant.
[0021] Specifically, the styrene terminal copolymer is selected from among a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer (SIS), a styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS), a styrene-isobutylene-styrene block copolymer (SIBS), a styrene-b-isoprene / butadiene-b-styrene block copolymer (SI / BS), a styrene-b-ethylene / butylene-b-styrene block copolymer (SEBS), a styrene-b-ethylene / propylene-b-styrene block copolymer (SEPS), or a styrene-butadiene random copolymer (SBR), and may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
[0022] The above petroleum resin adds one selected from hydrogenated poly(C6-14 olefin) and hydrogenated poly(C6-20 olefin).
[0023] The above petroleum-based resin may include any one of the following components: an aliphatic resin (C5), a cycloaliphatic resin (DCPD), an aromatic resin (C9), an aliphatic / aromatic copolymer resin (C5 / C9), a C5 hydrogenated petroleum resin, a C9 hydrogenated petroleum resin, a polyalphaolefin (PAO), a polybutene, a mixture or derivative thereof, a hydrogenated poly(C5-12 olefin) or a similar olefin, or may be formed by blending one or more components. At this time, the physical and chemical properties are adjusted depending on the blending and combination of each component.
[0024] The above petroleum-based process oil may be any one selected from paraffin-based process oil, naphthenic-based process oil, or aromatic-based process oil, but most preferably, naphthenic-based process oil is used, and it is preferable to use hydrotreated heavy naphthenic distillates as the naphthenic process oil.
[0025] In addition, the above "antioxidant" is used to prevent oxidative deterioration of the hot melt adhesive, and may be used alone or in combination with phenol-based antioxidants Butylated Hydroxytoluene, Pentaerythritol tetrakis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate), amine-based antioxidants N-Phenyl-α-naphthylamine, Distearyl Thiodipropionate, and phosphate ester-based antioxidant Tris(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl) phosphite. Specifically, a mixture of Pentaerythritol tetrakis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate) and Tris(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl) phosphite in a mixing ratio of 7:3 is used.
[0026] More specifically, the styrene terminal copolymer preferably uses a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer (SIS), the petroleum resin preferably uses a hydrogenated poly·C6-20 olefin, and the petroleum process oil preferably uses a hydrotreated heavy naphthenic distillate.
[0027] In addition, the adhesive member (12) is coated on the lower surface of the film (10) with a thickness of 0.1 mm, and then irradiated with ultraviolet rays for 20 minutes in a UV curing machine to produce a translucent solid viscous material.
[0028] Below, we will examine the adhesive member (12).
[0029] The above styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer (SIS) is a copolymer of styrene and isoprene monomers, with CAS NO. 25038-32-8. Its strengths include heat resistance, adhesiveness, and non-toxicity. Specifically, it provides ductility and elasticity, imparts elasticity (rubber-like properties) to the adhesive member (12), and enables it to maintain adhesive performance at both high and low temperatures. The above styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer (SIS) is a thermoplastic elastomer that melts and becomes flexible when heated, and hardens again when cooled, making it easy to process.
[0030] In this regard, the human eye's rim has a delicate surface with varying curvature, requiring the adhesive to possess maximum flexibility. SIS, due to its isoprene block, possesses highly flexible and elastic properties. In other words, compared to other styrene-terminal copolymers, i.e., other styrene-based polymers, it possesses a high degree of flexibility, allowing it to adhere evenly to the skin surface and adhere smoothly without irritation.
[0031] Additionally, SIS has a mild adhesiveness, adheres smoothly to the skin, and maintains a certain elasticity. This allows the adhesive to be removed smoothly without sticking too strongly to the skin.
[0032] The above hydrogenated poly·C6-20 olefin has CAS NO. 69430-35-9 and is a polymer composed of olefins having hydrocarbon chains from C6 to C20. It enhances flexibility and durability of the adhesive member (12) and increases the overall cohesiveness of the adhesive. In other words, it can maintain an adhesive state for a long time without losing adhesive strength.
[0033] Here, hydrogenated poly(C6-14 olefin) exhibits rapid adhesion even under light pressure due to its high initial adhesive strength, but has limitations in the repetition of attachment and detachment. In contrast, hydrogenated poly(C6-20 olefin) has a longer carbon chain, so it maintains adhesive strength even during repeated attachment and removal processes and is gentle on the skin.
[0034] In addition, the reason for using naphthenic process oil among paraffinic process oil, naphthenic process oil, or aromatic process oil is that, as presented above, paraffinic oil may have higher oxidation stability than naphthenic oil, but its solubility is often lower, which may cause the adhesive to become inhomogeneous. Aromatic process oil has better solubility than naphthenic process oil and can increase the flexibility of rubber and adhesive, but it has low oxidation stability and high irritation, so it is preferable to select naphthenic process oil.
[0035] In addition, the hydrotreated heavy naphthenic distillates, which are naphthenic process oils, have CAS NO. 64742-52-5 and are obtained by hydrogenating petroleum fractions and mainly using cycloalkanes having carbon atoms of C20 to C50. They have a high viscosity index and are thus the base oil of lubricating oil compositions and are non-toxic. By including them in the adhesive member (12), stability, flexibility, and durability can be enhanced, thereby producing a high-performance adhesive member (12) that can smoothly spread on a substrate.
[0036] In addition, the adhesive member (12) is composed of a blend ratio of 20 to 40 wt% of a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer (SIS), 40 to 60 wt% of a hydrogenated poly·C6-20 olefin, 10 to 35 wt% of a hydrotreated heavy naphthenic distillate, and 0.1 to 3 wt% of an antioxidant.
[0037] In addition, if the amount of styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) is less than 20 wt% relative to the total weight of the adhesive member (12), the flexibility of the adhesive member (12) may decrease and the performance may deteriorate, and if it exceeds 40 wt, the elasticity and rubber properties of the adhesive member (12) may increase, so that the elasticity and elasticity may become stronger, but the adhesive force may decrease due to excessive flexibility.
[0038] In addition, if the hydrogenated poly·C6-20 olefin is less than 40 wt% of the total weight of the adhesive member (12), oxidation resistance, flexibility and plasticity may be reduced, resulting in long-term performance degradation. If it exceeds 60 wt%, the average molecular weight of the entire adhesive member (12) may decrease, resulting in excessively low viscosity, which may lower the structural strength of the adhesive member (12), resulting in reduced long-term adhesive strength or durability.
[0039] In addition, if the amount of the hydrotreated heavy naphthenic distillates is less than 10 wt% relative to the total weight of the adhesive member (12), the viscosity of the adhesive member (12) becomes too high, making it difficult to apply, reducing processability, and reducing flexibility, making it hard and brittle. In addition, if it exceeds 35 wt%, the fluidity becomes excessively high, which may reduce the fixing strength and structural stability of the adhesive member (12).
[0040] In addition, if the antioxidant is less than 0.1 wt% of the total weight of the adhesive member (12), it may be difficult to perform the role of preventing oxidation, and if it exceeds 3 wt%, there is no special effect according to the excess content, so it is desirable to mix it within a limited range.
[0041] Below, we will examine the manufacturing method of the adhesive member (12).
[0042] The above adhesive member (12) is composed of a blend ratio of 20 to 40 wt% of styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer (SIS), 40 to 60 wt% of hydrogenated poly·C6-20 olefin, 10 to 35 wt% of hydrotreated heavy naphthenic distillates, and 0.1 to 3 wt% of antioxidant.
[0043] A step (S1) of preparing a first mixture by mixing the above styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) block copolymer and hydrogenated poly·C6-20 olefin while maintaining the temperature at 180°C so that the polymer does not decompose;
[0044] A step (S2) of producing a second mixture by gradually adding hydrotreated heavy naphthenic distillates to the dispersed first mixture so that each raw material is evenly dispersed using a high-shear mixer, thereby lowering viscosity and improving flexibility;
[0045] It is manufactured by including a step (S3) of adding an antioxidant to the second mixture, mixing and stirring to prepare a third mixture, and stirring the third mixture so that it is sufficiently dispersed to obtain a homogeneous third mixture.
[0046] In addition, the adhesive member (12) manufactured from the above steps S1 to S3 is coated on the lower surface of the film (10) to which the artificial eyelashes (11) are attached with a thickness of 0.01 to 0.1 mm, and then placed in a UV curing machine and irradiated with ultraviolet rays for 20 minutes to manufacture artificial eyelashes having a hot melt semitransparent solid viscous material (hereinafter, adhesive member (12)) formed on the lower surface.
[0047]
[0048] Thus, the method for manufacturing multi-functional eyelashes that are easy to attach and detach without irritation is as follows:
[0049] A step (S1) of preparing a first mixture comprising 20 to 40 wt% of a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer (SIS), 40 to 60 wt% of a hydrogenated poly·C6-20 olefin, 10 to 35 wt% of a hydrotreated heavy naphthenic distillate, and 0.1 to 3 wt% of an antioxidant, wherein the styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) block copolymer and the hydrogenated poly·C6-20 olefin are mixed at 180°C so as not to decompose the polymer;
[0050] A step (S2) of producing a second mixture by gradually adding hydrotreated heavy naphthenic distillates to the dispersed first mixture so that each raw material is evenly dispersed using a high-shear mixer, thereby lowering viscosity and improving flexibility;
[0051] A step (S3) of adding an antioxidant to the second mixture, mixing and stirring to prepare a third mixture, and stirring the third mixture so that it is sufficiently dispersed to obtain a homogeneous third mixture (adhesive member);
[0052] It consists of a step (S4) of coating the adhesive member (12) with a thickness of 0.01 to 0.1 mm on the lower surface of the film (10) to which the artificial hair (11) is attached, then placing it in a UV curing machine and irradiating it with ultraviolet rays for 20 minutes to form a hot melt semitransparent solid viscous material on the lower surface.
[0053] The eyelashes of the present invention manufactured in this way can be easily attached and detached, as shown in Fig. 1, and thus have the advantage of being convenient without causing skin irritation at the area where the eyelashes are attached.

[0078]
[0079] Below, test examples of adhesive members manufactured according to Examples 1 to 5 will be examined.
[0080]
[0081] Test Example 1
[0082] To determine whether formaldehyde, toluene, and benzene, which are hazardous substances, were included and their contents, and whether methyl methacrylate, a prohibited substance, was included and its contents were determined, and the test method was conducted in accordance with the Regulations on Standards and Methods for Testing and Inspection of Household Chemical Products Subject to Safety Confirmation (National Institute of Environmental Research Notice No. 2018-71). Formaldehyde was analyzed using the main test method, high-performance liquid chromatography, and toluene, benzene, and methyl methacrylate were analyzed using the volatile organic compound-solvent extraction-gas chromatography test method (Results Table 2).

[0084] Test Example 2
[0085] To evaluate the adhesive strength and peel strength, each sample of Examples 1 to 5 was prepared and attached to a stainless steel plate so that it was in contact with the test piece, and a 1 kg roller was pressed three times back and forth at 350 mm / min on the test piece. After that, the adhesive strength was measured using a CZY-8SA Lasting Adhesive Tester, which is an adhesive strength measuring device, and a weight of 0.3 to 1 g according to the ASTM D3654 test method.
[0086] In addition, the peel strength was measured by attaching each sample of Examples 1 to 5 to a measuring plate and pressing it by reciprocating a roller weighing 1 kg 10 times. After 1 hour, the sample was peeled and the peel strength (tensile stress) at that time was measured. The tensile stress (N / 20 mm) was measured using a peel strength tester (TXA™ Precise Peel-off Testing Equipment, Release Force Tester) at 26.5°C, 50% relative humidity, a tensile speed of 300 mm / min, and a peel angle of 90°.
[0087] As a result, as shown in Fig. 2, the adhesive strength was 523 minutes for Example 1, 528 minutes for Example 2, 792 minutes for Example 3, 821 minutes for Example 4, and 912 minutes for Example 5 at room temperature, and the release strength was 0.8 N / 20 mm for Example 1, 0.87 N / 20 mm for Example 2, 1.1 N / 20 mm for Example 3, 1.4 N / 20 mm for Example 4, and 1.6 N / 20 mm for Example 5.
[0088] Typically, the lower the release peel strength, the less pain there is during peeling, and the less residual or foreign body sensation there is. Example 1 had the lowest release peel strength, but the lowest adhesive retention strength. On the other hand, Example 5 had the best adhesive retention strength, but the highest release peel strength. When actually applied to 10 test subjects, there was no pain during peeling, but some test subjects experienced a slight residual sensation. Examples 2, 3, and 4 were the best, but Example 3 showed the most suitable strength in terms of the balance of retention strength and adhesive retention strength.
[0089]
[0090] Test Example 3
[0091] The peelability of Example 3 was evaluated. Specifically, the test method involved attaching the adhesive to the finger of a 27-year-old female test subject recruited through a social media advertisement, and then visually inspecting the peeling process to determine whether the adhesive was completely peeled off. As shown in Figure 1, Example 3 peeled off very easily and did not cause any irritation.
[0092]
[0093] Test Example 4
[0094] [Stability re-evaluation based on the evaluation of Test Example 3] A human patch test was conducted to evaluate the primary skin irritation based on the International Contact Dermatitis Research Group (ICDRG) of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for Functional Cosmetics. The subjects were 5 men and 25 women without any disease or allergy, and their ages ranged from 20 to 40 years. The human patch test and evaluation method was as follows: The test area was washed with purified water and then naturally dried for approximately 4.8 minutes. Then, 19.7 μL of the adhesive member (12) used in Example 3 was loaded onto the patch and a closed patch test was performed for 17 hours. Next, after 17 hours, the patch was removed, and the skin reaction of each test area was evaluated 30 minutes, 24 hours, and 48 hours after patch removal. The visual evaluation of the test area was performed according to the International Contact Dermatitis Research Group (ICDRG), and the average skin reaction rate after visual assessment was calculated according to the following formula. The results of the human patch test were determined based on the skin reaction rate as shown in Table 3 below.
[0095] Average skin reactivity = (Highest score X Number of evaluations after patch removal X Number of test subjects) / (Total score) X 5
[0096] Skin reaction evaluation result 0.00 ~ 0.75 Non-irritating 0.76 ~ 1.50 Mildly irritating 1.51 ~ 2.50 Mildly irritating 2.51 ~ 4.00 Moderately irritating 4.01 ~ 5.00 Strongly irritating
[0097] The results of this test were to confirm whether there was primary irritation to human skin, and a human patch test was conducted for safety evaluation of Example 3 over three days. As a result, the skin reaction rate for Example 3 was 0.12, indicating no irritation.
[0098]
[0099] Test Example 5
[0100] To evaluate the actual wearing comfort, a sensory evaluation was conducted using Realization Example 3. As a control group, we used fake eyelashes with adhesive tape purchased online from E*Mall*. Both Example 3 and the control group were worn for 15 hours. The results are presented in Table 4. Furthermore, the sensory evaluation was conducted on 10 women aged 20 to 27, recruited through social media, and all subjects were free of skin conditions. Furthermore, they were prohibited from using smartphones, PCs, tablets, and other activities that could strain the eyes starting the day before the evaluation. Each subject was given 10 points, for a total score of 100. A score closer to 100 indicates a positive effect for each item, while a lower score indicates a negative effect for each item.
