Abstract
Description
[0001] COMPENSATION PROFILE FOR FIXING PARTITIONS
[0002] DESCRIPTION
[0003] Object of the invention
[0004] The invention, as stated in the present descriptive report, refers to a compensation profile for fixing partitions that provides, to the function for which it is intended, advantages and characteristics, which are described in detail below, which represent an improvement over the current state of the art in profiles.
[0005] More specifically, the object of the invention focuses on a profile that, applicable for use in the installation of partitions, for example, shower and bath partitions, so that they act as a means of fixing to the wall some of the glass or methacrylate panels thereof, has the purpose of acting as a leveling system to compensate for irregularities in walls or partitions that are not straight and to ensure the correct fixing of said profile on the surface thereof, being basically formed from a fixing profile itself and a sliding profile segment that allows modifying the width of the assembly to widen it, compensating for irregularities that the wall or partition may present in some section, with distances of up to 15mm.
[0006] Field of application of the invention
[0007] The field of application of the present invention is framed within the sector of the industry dedicated to the manufacture and installation of shower and bath screens, focusing particularly on the area of fixing profiles thereof.
[0008] Background of the invention
[0009] As is well known, the walls and partitions of homes and buildings can have irregularities in their surface, making them not perfectly straight. Consequently, when attempting to attach a straight profile, such as a metal profile (usually aluminum) for fixing a shower or bath screen, it may not sit flush against the wall surface and / or be properly secured to the edge of the glass or metal panel of the screen. To solve this problem, until now, either the surface irregularities had to be corrected before fixing the screen, or the gaps between the profile and the surface had to be filled. Both solutions are laborious and costly in terms of both time and money.
[0010] The objective of the present invention is, therefore, the development of a profile that allows, in a practical, quick and simple way, the compensation of spaces where the wall is not straight in order to adjust the width of the profile to it, preventing it from being separated from the surface of the wall or not fitting correctly to the edge of the partition panel, regardless of whether the wall is not completely straight.
[0011] Furthermore, and with reference to the current state of the art, it should be noted that, at least as far as the applicant is concerned, there is no knowledge of any other profile, nor any other invention of similar application, that presents technical, structural and constitutive characteristics, equal or similar to those presented by the one claimed herein.
[0012] Explanation of the invention
[0013] The compensation profile for fixing partitions that the invention proposes constitutes an ideal solution to the problem described, which in turn represents an improvement over what is already known, with the characterizing details that make it possible and that distinguish it being conveniently included in the final claims that accompany this description.
[0014] What the invention proposes, as previously mentioned, is a profile applicable for use as a means of fixing to the wall of shower and bath partition panels, whose purpose is to act as a leveling system to ensure the correct fixing of said panels on walls that are not perfectly straight.
[0015] To this end, the compensation profile is essentially made up of a fixing profile that has a sliding profile segment that allows the width of the assembly to be modified to expand it as needed and thus compensate for irregularities in the straightness of the surface of the wall where the profile is fixed, allowing compensation of distances of up to 15mm.
[0016] More specifically, the profile essentially comprises:
[0017] - the profile itself, which we will henceforth define as the external fixing profile, and which has a U-shaped cross-section configuration with a substantially flat central wall intended to be fixed, by means of screws and / or glue, to the surface of the wall or partition on which the screen is installed, and
[0018] - a sliding internal profile segment that fits longitudinally inside the external fixing profile, emerging from its open side, and which has, on the emerging side opposite the flat central wall of the first profile, a longitudinal groove intended to receive the edge of the glass or methacrylate panel of the partition, this internal profile segment being provided with the capacity for transverse sliding movement, that is, in the plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the external profile, to extend or reduce the portion of the internal profile that emerges outside the external profile and thus regulate the width of the set of both profiles so that, in the area covered by the segment, said width adapts to the surface of the wall according to its irregularity when it is not straight.
[0019] In turn, preferably, the sliding inner profile segment, which is shorter than the outer profile, also has the capacity for longitudinal sliding movement within the outer fixing profile to be able to place it in the most convenient position, depending on where the irregularity of the wall or non-straight partition to which the screen is fixed is located.
[0020] Furthermore, both profiles are linked together by means of fixings to block the movement of the sliding inner profile segment once its position has been adapted to the irregularity of the wall or partition.
[0021] Preferably, these means of fixing the two profiles together consist of at least one locking screw which, inserted into at least one transverse groove provided in the outer profile, fits into a hole in the inner segment. With the screw loose, the inner segment can be slid into the desired position, and once the desired width is reached, tightening the screw fixes both profiles and prevents the inner profile segment from sliding relative to the outer profile. To this end, the groove(s) and hole(s) of both profiles are located on at least one of their respective side walls.
[0022] Furthermore, preferably, the external fixing profile has more than one transverse groove, at least two or more transverse grooves, spaced and parallel to each other, so that the locking screw can be inserted into one or the other, depending on the position adopted by the sliding internal profile segment after moving it in the longitudinal plane within the external profile.
[0023] In any case, preferably, to better adjust the locking screw, at the end of the internal profile segment, at least one internal plug is provided which, as a solid core, fits inside said sliding internal profile segment, occupying a portion of the hollow space thereof, having laterally a threaded cavity that coincides with the lateral hole of this internal profile segment intended for the insertion of the locking screw.
[0024] Furthermore, this inner plug, which, for example, can be made of plastic material, is fixed to the end of the inner profile segment by means of a longitudinal fixing screw that threads into a central channel provided for this purpose in the inner profile segment, after being inserted into a perforation provided for this purpose in the end cap of said plug, which has a protruding rim that fits the perimeter edge of the inner profile segment.
[0025] Optionally, between the external fixing profile and the sliding internal profile segment, a slotted reinforcement plate is provided which, preferably also made of plastic material, frames the edge of the slot or slots of the external profile, thus preventing the locking screw from rubbing when moving the inner segment transversely to adapt the width of the assembly.
[0026] Finally, it should be noted that, preferably, said groove or grooves have a length of about 15mm, so that the described width of the set of both profiles can be compensated by up to 15mm.
[0027] With all this, the screen, instead of having only a profile with a flat fixing surface on one side, to fix it to a wall or partition that may not be straight, and a channel for inserting the edge of the glass of the screen on the opposite side, if fixed with the profile that is the subject of the invention, thanks to the movement of the sliding profile segment, the flat surface of the fixing profile will always be perfectly in contact with the surface of the wall or partition, regardless of whether it is perfectly straight or not, and the edge of the glass or panel of the screen will always be perfectly inserted in the channel of the sliding profile segment, allowing the screen to be installed perfectly level and easily and quickly correcting the problem of its installation on any wall that is not straight.
[0028] Finally, it is important to note that the profile that is the subject of the invention is applicable to both hinged and sliding door partitions.

[0036] Preferred embodiment of the invention In view of the aforementioned figures, and in accordance with the numbering adopted, an example of a non-limiting embodiment of the compensation profile for fixing partitions of the invention can be observed, which comprises what is indicated and described in detail below.
[0037] Thus, as can be seen in said figures, the compensation profile (1) of the invention, for fixing partitions on walls or partitions that are not straight, comprises, in a known manner, a profile proper (2) with a longitudinal flat wall (3), intended to be fixed on the surface of the wall or partition (not represented) in which the partition to which it is intended is installed, and a longitudinal grooved recess (4) on the opposite side intended to receive the edge of a glass or methacrylate panel (5) of the partition.
[0038] And, based on this already known configuration, this compensation profile (1) is essentially distinguished as follows:
[0039] - wherein the profile itself comprising constitutes an external fixing profile (2), which has a section II configuration, the central wall of which is the flat wall (3) for fixing to the surface of the wall or partition;
[0040] - wherein the longitudinal grooved recess (4), intended to receive the edge of the partition panel (5), is provided in a sliding segment of the internal profile (6) that fits longitudinally within the external profile (2), emerging from the open side thereof, presenting, on the emerging side opposite the flat central wall (3) of the external profile (2), said longitudinal grooved recess (4); and
[0041] - in which, in addition, this sliding internal profile segment (6) is at least equipped with the capacity for transverse sliding movement, that is, in the plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the external profile (2) to regulate the width (a) of the set of both profiles (2, 6) as appropriate when the surface of the wall or partition is not straight.
[0042] Furthermore, preferably, the sliding inner profile segment (6), which is shorter than the outer profile (2), also has the ability to slide longitudinally within the outer profile (2) to position it as needed, depending on the location of the wall or partition where it is not straight. In any case, preferably, the outer profile (2) and the inner profile segment (6) are linked together by fastening means (7, 8, 9) to lock the sliding inner profile segment (6) against the external fixing profile (2), once the inner segment (6) has been positioned in the most convenient location to compensate for the irregularity of the wall or partition where it is not straight.
[0043] Preferably, said means of fixing between both profiles (2, 6) comprise at least one locking screw (7) which, inserted into at least one transverse groove (8) of the outer profile (2), fits into at least one hole (9) of the inner profile segment (6).
[0044] Preferably, the external fixing profile (2) has two or more parallel transverse grooves (8) so that the locking screw (7) can be inserted into one or the other, depending on the position adopted by the sliding internal profile segment (6) after being moved longitudinally within the external profile (2).
[0045] Preferably, the groove or grooves (8) of the outer profile (2) and the hole or holes (9) of the inner profile segment (6) are located on at least one of the side walls of both profiles (2, 6).
[0046] In any case, preferably, at at least one end of the internal profile segment (6), an internal plug (10) is provided which occupies the hollow space of a section of the same as a solid core, said plug (10) having a threaded cavity (11) which is located in coincidence with the hole (9) of the internal profile segment (6) intended for the insertion of the locking screw (7).
[0047] Preferably, this inner plug (10) is fixed to the end of the inner profile segment (6) by means of at least one longitudinal fixing screw (12) that threads into a central channel (13) of said inner segment (6) inserted into a perforation (14) of the closing cap (15) of the plug (10) where it has a protruding flange that fits the perimeter edge of the inner segment (6).
[0048] Optionally, although not shown in the figures, the sliding inner profile segment (6) may include a second plug (10) inserted at its opposite end. In any case, preferably, a reinforcing plate (16) with flanged grooves (17) framing the edge of the transverse grooves (8) of the outer profile (2) is provided between the external fixing profile (2) and the sliding inner profile segment (6).
[0049] Finally, it should be noted that, preferably, the groove or grooves (8) of the external profile (2) have a length (L) of approximately 15 mm, allowing the assembly of the compensation profile (1) to increase its width (a) by up to 15 mm. Having sufficiently described the nature of the present invention, as well as the manner of its implementation, it is not considered necessary to elaborate further so that any expert in the field may understand its scope and the advantages derived from it. It should be noted that, within its essential characteristics, it may be implemented in other embodiments that differ in detail from the one indicated by way of example, and such embodiments will also attain the protection sought, provided that its fundamental principle is not altered, changed, or modified.
