Abstract
Description

[0002] 1
[0003] Device for flavoring the aerosol of an aerosol-generating device, in particular a shisha
[0004] Field of invention
[0005] The invention relates to a device for flavoring the aerosol of an aerosol-generating device, e.g., a shisha pipe – also known as a water pipe – and similar aerosol-generating devices. The device according to the invention comprises a tubular central body with a flavor carrier, a hollow body with a flavor carrier, and includes, for example, connections to the hose of a shisha and to a mouthpiece.
[0006] Background of the invention and prior art
[0007] Shisha smoking has become increasingly popular in Western countries in recent years. Many cities have cafes and bars that offer shisha pipes and the corresponding tobacco.
[0008] The shisha is a water pipe that has been known since at least the 16th century and initially spread in India and large parts of the Arab world. In many Arab countries, the shisha is an integral part of the culture; smoking it together was and still is considered a symbol of hospitality. This culture also reached Western countries through tourists and migrants.
[0009] Structure, components and function of the shisha
[0010] The structure, components, and function of a hookah can be described as follows. A hookah initially consists of a water-filled vessel, the so-called bowl. A smoke column with a downstem is screwed onto this. The smoke column with the downstem is screwed onto the bowl. The bowl is filled with enough water so that, after the smoke column is screwed on, the downstem is submerged. The hookah bowl and a heating element are placed on the top of the smoke column. A glycerin-based liquid is vaporized in the hookah bowl, forming an aerosol. This glycerin-based liquid may contain propylene glycol and / or flavorings. Traditionally, the hookah is heated with charcoal pieces.
[0011] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0012] Two modern variations utilize electric heating elements. Traditionally, shisha tobacco soaked in the described glycerin-containing liquid is used in the bowl. Alternatively, tobacco-free carrier substances can be used. Furthermore, aerosol formation can also be achieved without a carrier substance using electric heating.
[0013] Above the water level in the bowl is an opening into which a hose with a mouthpiece can be inserted. When the mouthpiece is drawn, a vacuum is created in the bowl. This vacuum draws air from the hookah head into the bowl, which carries the aforementioned aerosol through the bowl and into the mouthpiece. Standard bowls have multiple openings, allowing several hoses to be connected, so that several people can enjoy the hookah together.
[0014] Basic features of the invention and preferred embodiments
[0015] The present invention is based on the objective of providing a device for improved flavoring of the aerosol of a shisha or other aerosol-forming device.
[0016] The present invention teaches, according to claim 1 (aspect I), a device for flavoring the aerosol of an aerosol-generating device, in particular a shisha, wherein an aerosol is generated by heating a liquid, the liquid containing glycerin and / or propylene glycol, the liquid optionally being located in or on a carrier material, the optional carrier material being tobacco leaves, cellulose, smoking stones, crepe paper or mixtures thereof, the heating being effected by glowing charcoal or by electric heating, the generated aerosol being flavored by one or more flavor carriers located in the airflow, the flavor carrier consisting of natural materials, modified natural materials, artificial materials, preferably polymers, silica gel, mineral materials capable of absorbing liquids, the flavor carrier being saturated with a flavor-laden liquid.
[0017] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0018] 3 wherein the aroma carrier is essentially cylindrical, hollow cylindrical, in the form of a prism with a polygonal cross-section or a cylinder with several longitudinal bores, wherein the aroma carrier is formed as a porous or fibrous body with continuous capillaries, wherein the aroma carrier has a volume of 0.5-20 cm 3 and a surface area of 4-45 cm 2comprising, wherein the aroma carrier(s) are located in a tubular central body, characterized in that the tubular central body has closure elements at both ends to hold the aroma carrier(s) in position, wherein the closure elements have openings as air or aerosol passages, wherein the closure elements are designed such that either a) on one opening side the closure element forms a tapered plug-in device that is inserted into the hose of the shisha and on the other side the closure element forms a plug-in device that is inserted into a mouthpiece or b) on one opening side the closure element forms a tapered plug-in device that is inserted into the bowl of the shisha and on the other side forms a plug-in device that is inserted into the hose of the shisha.
[0019] The aforementioned object of the present invention is solved in a further aspect II by a device for flavoring the aerosol of an aerosol-generating device, comprising a tubular central body as a receiving tube (3.4) which allows a continuous airflow, at least one flavor carrier (1.8, 2.7, 4.9, 4.8) located in the airflow, and closure elements (2.1, 3.5, 3.6) that can be arranged at both ends of the tubular central body (3.4), wherein the closure elements (2.1, 3.5, 3.6) have openings as air or aerosol passages, characterized in that at least one of the two closure elements (2.1, 3.5, 3.6) has a retaining element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10) which is designed to receive at least one flavor carrier (1.8, 2.7, 4.9, 4.8).
[0020] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0021] 4
[0022] According to the invention, the tubular central body (3.4) can assume any shape that is technically feasible. In addition to the classic round shape, the cross-section can also be oval, triangular, or polygonal.
[0023] The closure elements (2.1 , 3.5, 3.6) for the upper and lower ends of the tubular central body (3.4) naturally have a shape that matches the cross-section of the same in order to seal it.
[0024] A special feature is that the improved device with the new retaining element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10) according to the invention is positioned at a suitable location between the steam / smoke source and the mouthpiece outlet. This means that it does not necessarily have to be located near the mouthpiece, but can be inserted relatively freely.
[0025] Further preferred and advantageous embodiments are set forth in the dependent claims, which are set forth below.
[0026] III. Device according to aspect II, wherein the retaining element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10) is integrally formed with the one locking element (2.1 , 3.5, 3.6) so that it can be removed from or inserted into the tubular central body (3.4) together with this locking element (2.1 , 3.5, 3.6).
[0027] IV. Device according to aspect 11 2, wherein the retaining element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10) is reversibly attachable to the one locking element (2.1 , 3.5, 3.6) so that it can be removed from or inserted into the tubular central body (3.4) together with this locking element (2.1 , 3.5, 3.6).
[0028] Since the retaining elements (2.4, 3.2, 4.10) according to the invention are either integrally formed with the closure elements (2.1, 3.5, 3.6) or reversibly attachable to one of the closure elements (2.1, 3.5, 3.6) according to aspects III and IV, the tubular central body (3.4) need not have a cylindrical shape or a shape with a uniform cross-section. The aroma carriers (1.8, 2.7, 4.9, 4.8) are held firmly in the retaining elements (2.4, 3.2, 4.10) according to the invention, so that the tubular central body (3.4) can also have a bulbous shape or a shape with changing diameters, as long as the closure elements (2.1, 3.5, 3.6) can be used to create a seal.

[0031] V. Device according to aspect II, wherein the retaining element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10) has an outer diameter which, together with the inner diameter of the tubular central body (3.4), prevents the at least aroma carrier (1.8, 2.7, 4.9, 4.8) from falling out of the retaining element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10).
[0032] VI. Device according to one of aspects II to V, wherein the holding element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10) is designed to accommodate aroma carriers (1.8, 2.7, 4.9, 4.8) of different lengths and / or different diameters.
[0033] VII. Device according to one of aspects II to VI, wherein the holding element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10) is designed to accommodate flavor carriers (1.8, 2.7, 4.9, 4.8) in at least two levels above one another.
[0034] VIII. Device according to one of aspects II to VII, wherein the aroma carriers (1.8, 2.7, 4.9, 4.8) are arranged vertically in the direction of the through airflow in the holding element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10).
[0035] IX. Device according to one of aspects II to VII, wherein the aroma carriers (1.8, 2.7, 4.9, 4.8) are arranged horizontally transversely to the through airflow in the holding element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10).
[0036] X. Device according to Aspect I or according to one of Aspects II to IX, wherein the closure element forming a tapered plug-in device that is inserted into the hose of the shisha and the closure element forming a plug-in device that is inserted into a mouthpiece are each at least partially formed from a soft, rubber-like material to enable an airtight connection between the hose and the closure element.
[0037] 11. Device according to Aspect I or according to any of Aspects 11 to IX, wherein the flavor carrier is located inside an adapter, the adapter allowing an airflow over the surface of the flavor carrier.

[0041] The retaining element is located inside an adapter, with the adapter allowing air to pass over the surface of the aroma carrier.
[0042] The invention is explained below with reference to the figures.
[0043] Figures 0014 and 0015 show features of the invention that were first disclosed in the first priority-establishing application DE 10 2024 126 350.4. These priority claims relate only to those features of the present invention that were first described in the first priority-establishing application DE 10 2024 126 350.4.
[0044] Figure 0014 shows a holding element for receiving and fixing one or more aroma carriers. The holding element has a handle at its tip (shown above).
[0045] Figure 0015 shows the use of this holding element from Figure 0014: One or more cylindrical flavor carriers (6) can be received by the crescent-shaped projections of the holding element (5). The assembly of flavor carriers (6) and holding element (5) can be inserted into the adapter (2) using the handle element (5.1). The entire adapter (2) is inserted into the tubular central element (3) and closed using the locking elements (1, 4).
[0046] Some elements are described differently in the following description.
[0047] Reference tags are labeled; the concordance consists of the following:
[0048] The locking elements (1, 4) correspond to the locking element (2.1, 3.5, 3.6, ...). The tubular central element (3) corresponds to the receiving tube (3.4, ...).
[0049] Retaining element (5) corresponds to retaining element (2.4, 3.2, 4.10, ...)
[0050] Aroma carrier (6) corresponds to aroma carrier (1.8, 2.7, 4.9, 4.8)
[0051] Figure 1 shows the holding device for the aroma carriers 1.8 in different views as well as different types of application.
[0052] In Figure 1.1, aroma carriers 1.8, arranged one above the other, are inserted laterally through the open window of the holding device 2. These have a larger diameter and thus fill the interior of the holding device. They are secured by a preferred, but not exclusive, clamping / narrowing action.
[0053] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0054] 7
[0055] In Figure 1.2, Figure 1.1 is rotated by 45° and shows the view from a different perspective.
[0056] In Figure 1.3, four aroma carriers 1.8 are inserted into the holding device. Here, two aroma carriers with a smaller diameter than those in Figures 1.1 and 1.2 are shown on each side, stacked one above the other. These are inserted into the crescent-shaped receiving device in the holding device, one on the left and one on the right.
[0057] Figure 1.4 again shows two longer aroma carriers 1.8, these with the same diameter as those shown in Figure 1.3. These are also inserted into the crescent-shaped receiving device in the holding device on the left and right.
[0058] Figure 1.5 shows a view of the holding device from below. This shows the aroma carriers inserted, as shown in Figures 1.3 and 1.4.
[0059] In Figure 1.6, aroma carriers 1.8 with an even smaller diameter are pushed into the lower part of the holding device into the available openings in the interior.
[0060] It is important to ensure that the diameter of the 1.8 aroma carriers, which are to be inserted into the opening of the holding device, is adjusted so that they can be inserted while still being securely held in place by the narrowing of the opening. This allows the 1.8 aroma carriers to be inserted at any length and still be held securely by the narrowing of the opening, thus enabling them to be fixed in a preferred position.
[0061] The advantage here is that the concentration is not only determined by the size and filling of the aroma carrier(s), but also by their positioning in the holder and their distance from the mouthpiece's air passage. The closer the aroma carrier(s) are to the mouthpiece, the higher the aroma concentration in the airflow through the mouthpiece.
[0062] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0063] 8
[0064] Furthermore, the aroma carriers are preferably, but not exclusively, used as follows. The aroma carriers 1.8 can be inserted lengthwise into the crescent-shaped openings 1.10 on the left and right. Due to the crescent shape, an airflow still occurs at the tapered ends of this opening, since the round diameter of the aroma carriers 1.8 does not completely cover this opening due to its shape.
[0065] If the aroma carrier is inserted into the central opening 1.9, the constriction completely blocks the airflow. Therefore, improved airflow could be achieved by leaving at least one of the outer openings open.
[0066] Nevertheless, it should be noted for all figures that there is an air window area of approximately 90° on both sides, i.e. a total of 180°, in the holding devices, thus guaranteeing the best possible exchange of the passing air and aromas.
[0067] Figure 2 shows the known retaining element 2.4 in an embodiment in which the handle element 2.1 of the retaining device is simultaneously the functional locking element 2.1 with the opening for inserting the shisha mouthpiece 2.3.
[0068] The aroma carriers 2.7 are inserted into the holding device via the air-flood window 2.8 into the crescent-shaped inner wall 2.2.
[0069] The aroma carriers 2.7 are inserted into the holding device from below via the crescent-shaped opening 2.5 and / or via the full-moon-shaped opening 2.6 as shown in Figure 1.6 and fixed in the desired position by the clamping mechanism known from Figure 1.6.
[0070] The aroma carriers 2.7 are inserted directly into the crescent-shaped opening 2.5 and preferably, but not exclusively, held in position by a constriction. The insertion version into the crescent-shaped opening 2.5 has the advantage that the preferably, but not exclusively, round aroma carrier does not completely obscure the flooding opening.
[0071] This allows for further flooding of the aroma carrier's surface through this opening. The narrowing also allows for adjustment of the aroma carrier's holding position.
[0072] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0073] 9. Thus, the aroma carrier can, for example, be inserted halfway into the holding device and halfway protrude from the opening 2.5 of the holding device.
[0074] It is also possible to insert an aroma carrier 2.7 into the full-moon shaped opening 2.6. Here, the airflow can then flow past the centrally positioned aroma carrier through the opening windows 2.5 and through the air-flooding windows 2.8.
[0075] Figure 3 shows the exploded view of the device with the aroma carrier holding element 3.2, in which the handle element is simultaneously the closure element with air opening 3.6.
[0076] This functional retaining element 3.2 (also called "functional retaining element") is inserted into an adapter 3.3, which is then inserted into the receiving tube 3.4. The receiving tube is closed at its lower end with a sealing element with an air opening 3.5. This sealing element allows air to flood the tube through the air opening. The adapter 3.3 serves to install various airflow-optimizing elements. These are air-flooding channels, straight or curved, designed to optimize the airflow along the flavor carriers.
[0077] Figure 3.1 shows the exploded view without adapter 3.3. Here, the functional retaining element 3.2 is placed directly into the receiving tube 3.4. The closing element at the lower end with air opening 3.5 remains in place.
[0078] In a preferred embodiment, to optimize the creation of an air vortex, the receiving tube can consist of interlocking walls 3.7 to generate a tornado-shaped airflow and thus prolong the contact of the airflow with the flavor carriers.
[0079] Figure 4 shows the holding device with the known handle device as closure 4.6 with air opening 4.5.
[0080] The openings of the receptacle for inserting the aroma carriers 4.9 now face outwards, and the aroma carriers 4.8 are inserted laterally. A stand 4.7 for the aroma carriers is located at the bottom.
[0081] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0082] 10
[0083] Reference numeral 4.10 includes retaining elements and spacers to optimize, rather than prevent, the airflow through preferred windows 4.11.
[0084] Figure 4.1 shows the same view as Figure 4, but with the addition of flavor carriers 4.8.
[0085] Here, the retaining elements 4.10 are shown from the side, as are the flooding windows 4.11, which guarantee a smooth, unobstructed airflow.
[0086] Figure 4.2 shows another preferred embodiment. This embodiment has additional air windows 4.16. Furthermore, the holders 4.12, which hold the aroma carrier in position, are shown in a new design with a central rib at the lower end 4.7 and at the upper end of the handle element. The aroma carriers used can preferably be selected such that their diameter is smaller than the diameter of the air inlet openings 4.12 / 4.13. This ensures optimal airflow in the vertical direction as well as through the side windows 4.16.
[0087] Figure 4.3 shows the underside of the base 4.7. In this case, the air vents have been further optimized in size, as the crescent-shaped side windows have been omitted. It should be noted that the opposing central struts 4.17 / 4.19 are rotated 90° relative to their counterparts. On the lower base of the device 4.7, the central strut 4.17 with the opening 4.18 is visible; the opposite air vent with strut 4.19 on the handle element is rotated 90°, and thus so are the air vents 4.20.
[0088] Figures 5 and 5.1 show another embodiment in which, similar to Figure 4, two mirrored aroma carrier positions 5.3 are shown opening outwards. However, here the aroma carriers are inserted through the openings 5.2 and thus fixed by the narrowing of the opening element 5.2 designed for this purpose. The openings 5.2 are preferably, but not exclusively, slightly oval in shape to create an air channel at the laterally tapered ends on the right and left, corresponding to the diameter of the round aroma carrier. To prevent the aroma carrier from being inserted too far into the device, a small opening is provided at the lower end of the

[0090] 11
[0091] Functional handle element 5.7 has a retaining bar 5.4. The openings for airflow are shown in 5.5.
[0092] An additional air channel 5.6 below the retaining bar 5.4 provides further air windows for flooding. The retaining bar 5.4 ensures that these air windows 5.6 are not blocked by over-inserting the aroma carrier.
[0093] Figure 5.1 shows the top view, with the functional handle element 5.7 and the air windows 5.6, separated by the middle web 5.4 and the air windows 5.6 below.
[0094] Figures 6 and 6.1 show a total of four holding devices 6.2. These are preferably, but not exclusively, designed as two double aroma holding devices 6.2 arranged one above the other.
[0095] Each holding device is equipped with a central support 6.3 to hold the aroma carriers in position and to ensure airflow. Furthermore, the repeated use of the slightly oval shape facilitates the creation of lateral air channels.
[0096] Section 6.4 shows further air windows 6.4, which are located below the bridge 6.3.
[0097] In Figure 6.1, the holding devices 6.2 for the aroma carriers are almost identical to those in Figure 6. However, the insertion of the aroma carrier at the upper end for the double device is provided by a device for insertion through the opening 6.8.
[0098] The aroma carriers are each located in the same position 6.2. The central bridge 6.3 for securing is also shown.
[0099] In this version, however, the aroma carriers in the upper holder 6.2 can be adjusted in their position by inserting them into the narrowed opening 6.8. For example, the aroma roll can be inserted only halfway, and the narrowing of the opening 6.8 will hold it in place.

[0101] 12
[0102] Figures 7 and 7.1 show another embodiment of the holding device. Here, it is possible to position three aroma carriers in the respective holding devices 7.2. The base has air openings 7.4 around the cross-shaped base devices 7.3.
[0103] Furthermore, another air duct can be seen under 7.9, which has an opposing air duct 7.5 in the retaining lock moment.
[0104] The opening 7.6 preferably has an internal thread. This allows, as shown in Figure 7.1, the external thread 7.7 of the retaining device to be screwed into the locking handle element 7.6. Plug-in, magnetic, bayonet, or other commercially available connections for joining parts 7.7 and 7.6 are possible.
[0105] Figures 8A and 8B show two versions of the holding devices with functional handle element.
[0106] In Figure 8A, the larger version of the figures, the flavor carrier is shown being inserted laterally on three sides. Figures 8.2, 8.3, and 8.4 form the base. All versions of the base are available in different sizes. Flavor carriers of various sizes can be used together. This has the advantage of allowing flavor variations to be adjusted according to their intensity, since the flavor carriers hold different amounts of liquid and offer different surface areas.
[0107] Section 8.6 shows the functional handle element with airflow, and section 8.5 shows various flooding channels. The base again uses round base shapes, but this time in different sizes as described. These base shapes feature airflow and a central support bar.
[0108] Figure 8B shows a smaller version. This version has five triangular insertion points, shown here under 8.7, 8.8, 8.9, 8.10, and 8.11. Due to the triangular shape of the holders and the round aroma carriers, a gap always remains for airflow. The aroma rolls are inserted and, through the integrated air channels 8.12 in the functional handle element 8.6, have a continuous airflow. All airflow then collects and is directed to the inserted mouthpiece.

[0110] 13
[0111] Figure 8.1 shows another version with a top view. Here, too, the functional handle element with airflow 8.6 is shown. The various full-moon shaped insert holders 8.14, 8.15, 8.16 are each available in different sizes.
[0112] Section 8.17 shows various airflow windows. Section 8.16 includes a possible central bar 8.22 above the airflow windows 8.17. This prevents the aroma carrier from being inserted too far into the holder and thus obstructing the airflow windows.
[0113] Possible mounting elements are also shown in section 8.20. These are preferably protruding material extensions or thickenings, or manufactured brackets or mounting elements. These are also preferably mounted above the air inlet window 8.17.
[0114] The insertion options 8.14, 8.15 and 8.16, 8.17 are offset in such a way that the airflow to the mouthpiece 8.21 is not obstructed or not completely obstructed.
[0115] Figure 9 shows an embodiment which consists of two functional parts for the aroma carrier holding device functional part with handle element.
[0116] Reference numeral 9.3 is the handle element with air vent. Reference numeral 9.51 shows a possible connection option in the form of a bayonet fitting. This is compatible with the other functional part, the aroma carrier holder, shown as 9.6. The bayonet fitting 9.51 of the handle element is compatible with the counterpart 9.52, which is found on the aroma carrier holder 9.6.
[0117] The holding device for the aroma carriers is a tubular design which, like a sieve-like basket, can hold the aroma carriers inside.
[0118] The sieve-like basket creates an air-permeable interior space for receiving the aroma carriers by means of various rib-like connecting parts 9.8, which form large air-permeable windows 9.7 due to their spacing.

[0120] 14
[0121] Figure 9.1 shows the aroma carrier holding device 9.6 from above with a view into the interior.
[0122] The base of the aroma carrier holding device is also manufactured with various connecting struts 9.8 in such a way that air-permeable windows 9.8 allow airflow.
[0123] In Figure 9.2, the aroma carrier holding device 9.6 is provided with three ring-shaped insertion holders 9.10. These could help to fix the aroma carriers.
[0124] The connection between the two elements 9.3 and 9.6 can be made using technically known methods such as screw, plug or magnetic connections or similar.
[0125] Figure 10 shows an exploded view of another embodiment of the product idea. Reference numeral 10.1 shows the closure with airflow and opening for the shisha mouthpiece. Reference numeral 10.2 shows the receiving tube. Reference numeral 10.3 shows the closure element for the lower end of the receiving tube. This closure element includes, as referenced in numeral 10.4, devices for inserting / placing flavor carriers with a preferred fixing position. Reference numeral 10.5 is the connector for the shisha hose.
[0126] This example is intended to show that the placement and implementation of the product idea can also be variably positioned at both ends.
[0127] Reference numeral 11.1 designates the known closure element with airflow and opening for the shisha mouthpiece. Reference numeral 11.2 shows a possible alternative embodiment of the insert, which also serves as the shisha mouthpiece, while reference numeral 11.3 shows the embodiment already described in Figure 10.
[0128] Figure 12 shows another version of the placement of the aroma carriers in the holding device. Figure 12.1 indicates that the aroma carriers 12.5 can be inserted laterally into the receiving devices 12.6.
[0129] In Figure 12.2, this figure is rotated by 90° and shows the bores 12.6 and the insertion of the aroma carriers 12.5 from another view.

[0132] Figure 12.3 shows the version with a closure element and simultaneously with a mouthpiece.
[0133] Figure 12.4 shows a possible adapter part with the same mounting function. This can preferably be inserted into the known mounting tube.
[0134] Figure 13 shows another embodiment of the product idea. Here, the aroma carrier(s) are inserted directly into a device in the mouthpiece.
[0135] Device 13.1 is the mouthpiece tube shown in its entirety, which is already known on the market. Figure 13.2 shows a separate mouthpiece part that can be attached separately to device 13.1 and the remaining mouthpiece tube 13.3. This can be done using bayonet, screw, plug-in functions, or other fastening methods.
[0136] Element 13.3 is either itself the receiving and holding device for the aroma carriers or for the adaptation of such a device.
[0137] The adaptation and / or internal workings of the recording of element 13.3 are shown in 13.4, 13.5, 13.7 and 13.8.
[0138] Reference numeral 13.4 indicates ring-shaped fastenings for inserting or inserting the aroma carriers 13.6.
[0139] For reference numeral 13.5, the aroma carriers can be used in any configuration and stand on a breathable base, an example of which is shown in reference numeral 13.8. The base can be sieve-shaped, net-shaped, or similar. The important feature of this base from reference numeral 13.8 is that it secures the aroma carriers while still allowing airflow.
[0140] In illustration 13.7 the air seal is completely released and clamping devices 13.9 are provided on the inside of the tube for the aroma carriers.

[0143] The aroma carriers 13.6 can be inserted laterally into these devices and are held in place by a clamping mechanism.
[0144] Figure 14 describes in detail the background of the invention and the advantages of flavoring.
[0145] Generally speaking, shisha smokers, especially in shisha bars, always mix flavors from different tobacco varieties. This allows for variety and the creation of new flavors. To guarantee the same possibility for the embodiment according to the invention, which flavors the shisha smoke using flavor carriers, various embodiments are shown that can place the flavor carriers in multiple locations (also known, among others, from Figures 1 to 13).
[0146] Figure 14.1 shows the holding device on both sides. It can also offer three- or four-sided inserts, all on the same plane. This allows for the combination of multiple flavor carriers. Preferably, the inserts for the flavor carriers can also be offered in different sizes. This allows flavors to be deliberately mixed in terms of strength. These are then inhaled via the mouthpiece 14.0.
[0147] Figure 14.2 shows this again from below, with two different sizes of the holding device for preferably fixed insertion.
[0148] Figure 14.3 shows the version already described, in which the different sizes of flavor carriers are inserted into the corresponding holding device and fixed via a preferred, but not exclusive, clamping mechanism. Three different sizes of flavor carriers are also provided here. This is not exclusive, but shown here as an example, to demonstrate that different sizes of flavor carriers can be selected in this design, thus allowing the desired concentration in the mixture to be determined.
[0149] Figure 14.4 shows one possible placement of the aromas on two sides or multiple times, but on two or more levels. Level one is shown in Figure 14.6 and level two in Figure 14.7. Due to the different levels...

[0151] 17 and distances to the mouthpiece 14.0, the aroma strengths can also be adjusted, as the placement in the distance to the mouthpiece also determines the strength of the automation.
[0152] Figure 14.5 shows another placement of the aroma carriers on different levels. Here, the levels are designed to be highly flexible and also offer the possibility of placing aroma carriers of different lengths / sizes. This allows for product variety.
[0153] One example from the market is that mint has a very dominant flavor, but it is often mixed with grape. Therefore, the grape could be placed at the top, near the mouthpiece, and the mint at the bottom, further away from the mouthpiece.
[0154] Figure 14.51 shows a method of placing aroma carriers by inserting them into a holding device, as shown in Figure 12. Here, the aroma carriers are inserted laterally in a horizontal direction. New in this illustration are the different sizes of the insertion points and thus the available selection of aroma carriers.
[0155] The present invention further relates to another variant of a device for flavoring the aerosol of an aerosol-generating device. This variant relates to the features of the invention that were first disclosed in the second priority-establishing application DE 10 2025 124 638.6. These priority claims relate only to those features of the present invention that were first described in the priority-establishing application.
[0156] Devices of this type, which flavor the smoke of shisha tobacco, are partially known. Assembling this device is somewhat difficult because the central piece, due to its solid shape and the two differently positioned sealing rings, especially the one at the top, requires considerable pressure and force to insert into the shisha's stem.
[0157] Furthermore, the production process requires more effort due to the use of more material in order to make the middle section correspondingly wide, but
[0158] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0159] 18. The inner diameter is still kept so narrow that a cotton roll (including dental cotton roll) forms a suitable gap for flooding. This results in a lot of wasted material.
[0160] Therefore, there is a need for a simpler and easier-to-handle device.
[0161] The present invention therefore has the further objective of providing an improved device that can be easily and conveniently inserted or attached to the receiving tube of a shisha.
[0162] This problem is solved in a first aspect of the present invention by a device for flavoring the aerosol of an aerosol-generating device, comprising a device for heating a liquid to generate an aerosol, wherein the liquid may optionally be located in or on a carrier material, one or more flavor carriers located in the airflow for flavoring the generated aerosol, wherein the flavor carrier is impregnated with a flavor-laden liquid, wherein the flavor carrier is essentially cylindrical, hollow cylindrical, in the form of a prism with a polygonal cross-section or a cylinder with several longitudinal bores, wherein the flavor carrier(s) are received in a tubular central body, characterized in that the tubular central body has a smaller outer diameter than the tube for receiving it.wherein an intermediate element is attached to at least one end of the tubular central body, which corresponds to the inner diameter of the receiving tube and seals the tubular central body against the receiving tube.
[0163] The device according to the invention allows for easy insertion and also has the advantage that material can be saved during manufacturing without affecting the visual appearance.
[0164] In a further training course, the intermediate element is created by a material thickening of the tubular central body or by retaining elements on the tubular central body.
[0165] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0166] 19 or realized by an additional part to be attached in a screw or plug connection.
[0167] The present invention represents an improvement over the prior art. The invention saves material during production and facilitates the assembly of the device according to the invention with the receiving tube of a shisha. This is achieved by producing a narrower middle section, into which the cotton roll is inserted as a flavor carrier, with a smaller outer diameter than the receiving tube. To still achieve stability and also to prevent air from passing past the cotton roll within the assembled tube assembly, a thickening is added at the upper end, either by thickening the material during production, by retaining elements, or by an additional attachable part (screw / plug) whose outer diameter corresponds to the inner diameter of the receiving tube.
[0168] The plug-in device is attached at the bottom, with an upper and lower opening for airflow. Furthermore, retaining elements are installed in the airflow channel to prevent the cotton roll from clogging the opening of the airflow channel.
[0169] A sealing ring is attached to the lower part of the connector, which fits into the receiving tube. This prevents unwanted air from passing through the inner tube, over the connector, and past the aroma carrier.
[0170] Since this sealing ring is closed at the very end by inserting the entire device into the receiving tube, only minimal force is required. In the prior art, the solid shape of the inner tube, which is fitted with two sealing rings at its upper and lower ends and must be pushed completely through the receiving tube, necessitates a greater force for insertion.
[0171] Figure A1 shows the three parts which, when assembled, form the inner tube (and the aroma carrier).
[0172] Part A1.1 is to be attached to the top of the inner tube A1.2, a manufacturing element which widens the outer diameter of the structure. This will

[0174] 20 either manufactured in one piece or to be attached as an additional part, preferably but not exclusively by means of a screw or plug device.
[0175] Part A1.2 is the inner tube into which the aroma carrier, in the form of a cotton roll or similar, is inserted. This tube is open at the top and bottom and preferably includes integrated flooding channels in its inner surface, which can be facilitated by protruding fins or internal channels.
[0176] Part A1.3 is the lower air intake element, which is preferably screwed or clipped onto part A1.2. This is preferred, but not exclusive. Part A1.3 has a recess for a sealing ring on its outer edge – preferably, but not exclusively. The sealing ring could also be attached by means of an injection-molded material.
[0177] Figure A2 shows the assembled detail from Figure A1 in different views.
[0178] Figures A2.1 and A2.2 show the upper and lower views. A star-shaped spacer is integrated into the lower part (shown in Figure A1, part A1.3).
[0179] This spacer could also be designed in various other variations, for example by a three-bar star in Figure A2.3 or by only one bar in Figure A2.4.
[0180] Figure A3 shows how the assembled part can be inserted into the receiving tube in A3.3.
[0181] As previously described, the sealing ring A3.3.1 is inserted at the lower end of part A3.3. Furthermore, an annular device A3.3.2 is provided at the lower end, which is slightly larger than the inner frame of the receiving tube A3.2. This ensures that the functional part A3.3 cannot be inserted too far into part A3.3. It can therefore always be inserted correctly.
[0182] Furthermore, Figure A3 describes part A3.1, which preferably has a softer, rubber-like material structure. It shows an opening on the top for inserting the shisha hose or mouthpiece.

[0186] Figure A3.2 shows part A3.2 from Figure A3 again from different views.
[0187] Figure A3.4 shows the entire device assembled and depicted in an external view from several sides.
[0188] Figure A4 shows another way to facilitate cleaning the inner part. For this purpose, the inner middle section for the aroma carrier (A4.2) has been divided into two parts. These parts are to be assembled and then preferably, but not exclusively, screwed together with the upper part (A4.1) and the lower part (A4.3) to ensure a secure hold. This also serves to seal the device airtight.
[0189] Figure A5 shows the part assembled from Figure A4 from different views.
[0190] Figures A6 and 7 show the functional part according to the invention, shown in A6.2 and A7.3, which is used in different locations to flavor the shisha smoke.

[0201] 22 or in the form of fin-like retaining elements in a spiral shape. These are to be incorporated into the receiving element for the aroma carrier known from Figure A1 Part A1.2 and from Figure A4 Part A4.2.
[0202] According to the invention, a substantially cylindrical cotton roll can serve as a flavor carrier. Cotton rolls made of cotton, such as those used by dentists, are suitable for this application. These have diameters between 0.8 cm and 1.2 cm and are up to 4 cm long.
[0203] Alternatively, other elements can be used as flavor carriers:
[0204] - Wooden sticks, bamboo sticks, rattan sticks, balsa wood,
[0205] - Fiber sticks (usually made of polyester or cotton fibers or a mix of both)
[0206] - Sida sticks usually made from dried reed or Cuban jute or arrow leaf
[0207] The finished aroma carrier, loaded with aroma solution, can be sealed in a packaging film and stored in this form for at least 12 months. Advantageously, the aroma carrier is sealed with two tear-off films before sealing, which prevents premature aroma loss.
[0208] The device according to the invention makes it possible for several people to enjoy different flavors from one shisha by using differently flavored flavor carriers. This eliminates the need to agree on a flavor before using a shisha. Each person can obtain their preferred flavor through their chosen flavor carrier.
[0209] Furthermore, it is also possible to use one flavor in the hookah bowl and a second flavor in the flavor carrier. This allows for individually selectable flavor combinations that go beyond the usual commercial offerings.
[0210] Furthermore, it is possible to use two flavor carriers in combination, for example, by using different flavor carriers with the holding element shown. For instance, there are mint enthusiasts who like to combine other flavors with mint. By using different flavor carriers together, it is possible, for example, to combine a first flavor (e.g., apple flavor) with a second flavor.
[0211] September 12, 2025 MXIX Inc. K-25 / 433
[0212] 23
[0213] (e.g., mint flavoring). It goes without saying that any other flavorings can also be combined in this way.
[0214] What all applications have in common is that the flavoring effect lasts a very long time without losing intensity. With conventional shisha smoking, the smoke or vapor typically loses flavor intensity after a few minutes; after 60 minutes at the latest, no aroma is perceptible anymore, whereas the device according to the invention can generally be used for more than four hours without any decrease in flavor intensity. In some cases, the device could be used for 6 to 10 hours without having to change the flavor carrier.
[0215] It was surprising to those skilled in the art that a significant flavoring of the aerosol was possible using the device according to the invention. The prevailing view was that the flavorings in the hookah bowl had to be heated in order for the flavoring substances to evaporate. The element according to the invention, containing the flavor carrier, is exposed to a relatively cool aerosol (between 20 °C and 40 °C) because the aerosol in the bowl is cooled accordingly as it passes through. It was not expected that sufficient flavoring of the aerosol would be possible at this temperature.
[0216] Furthermore, it was surprising to the expert that a significantly more nuanced perception of aromas is possible compared to conventional shisha smoking. Without committing to this theory, it is suspected that the conditions typically found in the shisha bowl (temperature between 300°C and 800°C) can lead to a (partial) degradation of the very delicate flavor compounds, causing flavor nuances to be lost. This is compounded by the leaching of flavor compounds in the base (especially the hydrophilic ones) and the relatively long path of the vapor / smoke through the stem (typically about 50 cm) and hose (typically about 100 cm), meaning that ultimately only a small portion of the originally used aromas reaches the user.
[0217] The device according to the invention is further illustrated by the accompanying figures. The figures show various embodiments of the invention, without intending to be limiting. A person skilled in the art can readily construct variants and other embodiments of the invention without having to act inventively.
