Description

[0001] A NOZZLE

[0002] FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The invention relates to a nozzle to be used in the wood-based products industry.

[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0005] Fiberboard is a composite board formed by utilizing the natural felting and adhesive properties of fibers obtained from wood and other lignocellulosic materials, or by spraying additional adhesive. This board is produced by drying the fibers and pressing them under high pressure and temperature.

[0006] In fiberboard production, the fibers are obtained in a defibration machine known as a "Refiner". In this machine, softened wood chips are ground between two discs, one fixed and the other rotating, and separated into fibers. The obtained fibers are transported through a pipe called a "blowline" and the gluing process is performed before entering the drying tube. The gluing process is carried out by means of nozzles located on this pipe. The adhesive is sprayed onto the fibers under pressure and this process is carried out by pulverizing with the help of steam.

[0007] Adhesives enable the fibers to bind to each other and ensure that the desired mechanical and physical properties of the fiberboard are achieved. Adhesives such as ureaformaldehyde and melamine urea-formaldehyde are commonly used in this process. The adhesives are sprayed onto the fibers through nozzles located at the outlet of the defibration machine.

[0008] In the nozzles used in the current technique, due to the adhesive and steam meeting in the same axial direction and insufficient turbulence being generated, the adhesive cannot be distributed homogeneously onto the fibers, resulting in an inadequate binder interaction between the fibers. As a result, the mechanical strength of the fiberboard decreases and inconsistencies in product quality are observed.

[0009] Another effect of the mentioned problem, namely the inability to mix a sufficient amount of adhesive with steam, is that it is not possible for the adhesive to be conveyed outside the nozzle. That is, a certain amount of adhesive that does not mix with the steam remains inside the nozzle and adheres to the inner wall of the nozzle, which causes clogging of the gluing nozzles over time, leading to interruptions in the production process and increasing maintenance costs. In addition to all these, the large particle size of the adhesive at the moment of spraying prevents it from adequately adhering to the surface of the fibers, reducing the bonding quality. This situation requires the use of more adhesive in the gluing of the fibers and leads to high adhesive consumption. These problems reduce production efficiency and increase costs.

[0010] As a result, all the abovementioned problems have made it necessary to make an improvement in the relevant technical field.

[0011] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0012] The present invention relates to a nozzle designed to eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages and to bring new advantages to the relevant technical field.

[0030] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

[0031] Figure 1 shows a representative isometric view of the nozzle subject to the invention.

[0032] Figure 2 shows a representative sectional view of the nozzle subject to the invention.

[0033] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0034] In this detailed description, the nozzle (1 ) subject to the invention is explained with examples solely for the purpose of better understanding the subject, without having any limiting effect.

[0035] Figure 1 shows a representative isometric view of the nozzle (1 ) subject to the invention. The nozzle (1 ) is used in the wood-based product industry to homogeneously distribute at least one binder (T) onto a specific surface or material. The binder (T) in question is an adhesive, in particular glue. In the preferred embodiment, the nozzle (1) is used for gluing the fibers during the production of fiberboard.

[0036] The nozzle (1) comprises at least one first body (10). The first body (10) is in the form of a hollow cylinder for conveying at least one fluid (A). One end of the first body (10) is connected to a fluid (A) source. The fluid (A) is essentially steam. The fluid (A) is conveyed under pressure. In an alternative embodiment, it may also be a liquid, air, or another gas. In Figure 2, the flow of the fluid (A) is indicated by an arrow.

[0037] The nozzle (1 ) comprises at least one second body (20). The second body (20) conveys at least one binder (T), i.e., glue, which is to be mixed with the fluid (A). The second body (20) is also in the form of a hollow cylinder and is fixed at one end to the glue source. The second body (20) is positioned perpendicular to the first body (10).

[0038] The nozzle (1 ) comprises at least one outlet body (30). The outlet body (30) is the structure where the fluid (A) and the binder (T) mix in at least one mixing chamber (33) to form the mixture (K), and the mixture (K) is discharged from the nozzle (1 ) and sprayed to the desired point. There is at least one discharge tip (32) for discharging the mixture (K) from the outlet body (30). The discharge tip (32) is essentially a hole located at one end of the outlet body (30). The outlet body (30) is in the form of a hollow cylinder and is positioned at one end of the second body (20) so as to surround at least a portion of the second body (20). The hollow portion of the outlet body (30) forms the mixing chamber (33). Thus, one end of the second body (20) remains inside the outlet body (30). As a result, one end of the second body (20) is positioned in the mixing chamber (33). The outer diameter of the second body (20) is smaller than the inner diameter of the outlet body (30). Therefore, a gap, i.e., an annular space, is formed between the second body (20) and the outlet body

[0039] (30). The fluid (A) is conveyed through this annular space.

[0040] The second body (20) comprises at least one channel (21 ). The channel (21) is positioned in the portion of the second body (20) that remains inside the outlet body (30). The number of channels (21) is two. The channels (21) are formed at an angle relative to the flow axis (I). As seen in Figure 2, the channels (21) open perpendicularly into the mixing chamber (33). However, in alternative embodiments, they may be at a different angle. Accordingly, the binder (T) and the fluid (A) make their first contact at perpendicular directions to each other. Thus, according to Figure 2, the fluid (A), which flows continuously to the left along the flow axis (I), meets the binder (T) at a perpendicular angle rather than along the same direction. As a result, when they come into contact from different directions, turbulence is generated, which improves the mixing. This increases the efficiency of the process and allows for a reduction in the required amount of binder (T), i.e., glue. The end of the second body (20) containing the channel (21 ) is closed.

[0041] The outlet body (30) comprises at least one narrowing section (31). The narrowing section

[0042] (31 ) is provided inside the outlet body (30) such that its diameter narrows toward the discharge tip (32). To make it more understandable, the narrowing section (31) is essentially a cylinder with a narrowing diameter. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the narrowing section is inclined at an angle relative to the flow axis (I). However, in alternative embodiments, it may be curved. That is, the mixing chamber (33) is essentially a cylinder with two different inner diameters.

[0043] The nozzle (1 ) comprises at least one connection body (40) that connects the first body (10), the second body (20), and the outlet body (30) to each other. The connection body (40) is T-shaped and has a hollow structure. That is, the nozzle (1) itself is essentially T- shaped. As seen in Figure 2, the connection body (40) is connected to the first body (10) from its lower part. The second body (20) is positioned inside the connection body (40) so as to pass through it. As described in the relationship between the outlet body (30) and the second body (20), a gap is also formed between the connection body (40) and the second body (20). That is, the second body (20) passes through the connection body (40), which is open at both ends, and is positioned such that a gap remains between the inner diameter of the connection body (40) and the outer diameter of the second body (20). Through this gap, the fluid (A) can pass and proceed toward the mixing chamber (33), i.e., the outlet body (30). The connection body (40) allows the first body (10), second body (20), and outlet body (30) to be connected to each other in a detachable manner. Thus, permanent connections such as welding are eliminated. At the connection parts of the bodies, at least one sealing element is also present. Therefore, the nozzle (1) is sealed.

[0044] In light of all the above, the operation of the invention is as follows: Steam flows from the first body (10), and glue flows from the second body (20) in the directions indicated by arrows in Figure 2. The steam proceeds into the gap between the connection body (40) and the second body (20) and then moves toward the discharge tip (32), i.e., the outlet (Q). Meanwhile, the glue also moves leftward inside the second body (20), as seen in Figure 2, i.e., toward the outlet (Q). Therefore, the steam and the glue move in the same axial direction. However, since one end of the second body (20) is closed, the glue is delivered to the outlet body (30) through the channels (21 ), i.e., holes. The channels (21) are formed at an angle to the steam, which moves linearly to the left along the flow axis (I), opening into the outlet (Q). That is, while the steam moves leftward in Figure 2, the glue exits from the channel (21 ) into the mixing chamber (33) perpendicularly to the flow axis (I) and meets the steam. This creates a turbulence effect, allowing the glue and steam to mix much more efficiently. Then, the glue-steam mixture, having been mixed in the mixing chamber (33), is further homogenized by the effect of the narrowing section (31) and is sprayed from the discharge tip (32), i.e., the outlet (Q).

[0045] In currently used nozzles, the glue meets the steam in the direction of steam flow, i.e., along the same axis. Therefore, before completely mixing with the steam, the glue exits the nozzle (1 ).

[0046] Therefore, the nozzle (1 ) eliminates some major disadvantages encountered in traditional nozzles and increases efficiency in the glue application process. In the pressurized glue spraying process, it reduces the adhesive particle size to obtain a more homogeneous mixture (K), thereby increasing bonding efficiency. At the same time, it reduces adhesive consumption. Furthermore, by eliminating clogging problems, it prevents issues such as production interruptions.

[0047] The protection scope of the invention is specified in the appended claims and cannot be limited to the description made for illustrative purposes in this detailed description.

[0048] Likewise, it is clear that a person skilled in the art can present similar embodiments in the light of the above descriptions without departing from the main theme of the invention.
