AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Condensed water accumulation on electronic components within motors leads to failure or damage, as the temperature inside the motor decreases, causing damage to components like encoders and connectors.

Method used

An end cover assembly with drying elements, such as calcium chloride or magnesium sulfate granules or silicone pads, secured within the motor's inner chamber, absorbs moisture when temperatures drop and releases it back into the air when temperatures rise, preventing condensed water accumulation.

Description

END COVER ASSEMBLY FOR MOTOR, AND MOTORTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to the technical field of motors, and in particular, relates to an end cover assembly for a motor, and a motor.BACKGROUND

[0002] A motor typically contains electronic components such as an encoder and a connector. In the case that the motor runs and then stops, the temperature inside the motor gradually decreases from a high temperature, which leads to the formation of condensed water inside the motor. In the case that the condensed water accumulates on the electronic components like the encoder and the connector, these components to fail or become damaged, and consequently the motor is unable to run normally.SUMMARY

[0003] One object of the present disclosure is to provide an end cover assembly, which is capable of preventing condensed water generated in the motor from causing damages to electronic components therein.

[0004] Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a motor, which is capable of preventing condensed water generated in the motor from causing damages to electronic components therein.

[0005] The present disclosure provides an end cover assembly for a motor. The end cover assembly includes an end cover, a plurality of drying elements, and a securing element. The end cover is configured to be assembled with a housing of the motor and enclose to define an inner chamber of the motor for accommodating an electronic component. The drying element is capable of absorbing water molecules from the air and releasing the absorbed water molecules into the air. The securing element is capable of securing the drying element to the end cover and positioning the drying element within the inner chamber of the motor.

[0006] In the end cover assembly for the motor according to the present disclosure, the drying element is secured in the inner chamber of the motor via a securing element. In the case that the temperature inside the motor decreases, the drying element absorbs water molecules from the air inside the motor, preventing condensed water from accumulating on electronic components. In the case that the temperature inside the motor rises, the drying element releases the absorbed water molecules back into the air inside the motor, and the water molecules are expelled along with the expanded air from the motor. This prevents condensed water generated in the motor from causing damages to the electronic components therein.

[0007] In some exemplary embodiments, a recess is formed in the end cover, wherein the recess functions as part of the inner chamber of the motor in the case that the end cover is assembled with the housing of the motor.

[0061] In some exemplary embodiments, referring to FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, a plurality of run-through expansion holes 28 (only one of the expansion holes 28 is illustrated in FIG. 4) are formed in a surface of the drying element 26. By virtue of the expansion holes 28, the contact area between the silicone pad and the air is increased, such that the efficiency of absorbing water molecules is improved. Meanwhile, the expansion holes 28 reduce the deformation of the silicone pad caused by temperature changes, such that the silicone pad is allowed to be secured more firmly. In some exemplary embodiments, the expansion holes 28 may be recessed blind holes.

[0062] The present disclosure further provides a motor. Referring to FIG. 2, the motor includes a housing 42, an electronic component 44, and an end cover assembly as described above. The end cover 10 is assembled with the housing 42 and enclose to define an inner chamber 43 of the motor, wherein the electronic component 44 is accommodated in the inner chamber 43.

[0063] In the motor according to the present disclosure, the drying element 21 is secured into the inner chamber of the motor via the securing element 31. In the case that the temperature inside the motor decreases, the drying element 21 absorbs water molecules from the air inside the motor,  preventing condensed water from accumulating on the electronic component; and in the case that the temperature inside the motor rises, the drying element 21 releases the absorbed water molecules back into the air inside the motor, and the water molecules are expelled along with the expanded air from the motor. This prevents condensed water generated in the motor from causing damages to the electronic component therein.

[0064] It should be understood that, although this specification is described based on the embodiments, not each of the embodiments discloses an independent technical solution. Such description of the specification is only for clarity. A person skilled in the art should consider the specification as an entirety. The technical solutions according to the embodiments may also be suitably combined to derive other embodiments that may be understood by a person skilled in the art.

[0065] A series of detailed descriptions given in this specification are merely intended to illustrate feasible embodiments of the present disclosure, instead of limiting the protection scope of the present disclosure. Any equivalent embodiments or modifications, for example, combinations, segmentations, or repetition of features, derived without departing from the spirit of the present disclosure shall fall within the protection scope of the present disclosure.
