Description

DEVICE FOR STORING AND APPLYING PRODUCTFIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The invention relates generally to a device for storing and applying a product such as viscous cosmetic liquid to an applying object such as a skin.BACKGROUND

[0002] The statements in this section merely provide background information related to the present disclosure and may not constitute prior art.

[0003] A device for storing and applying a product is widely used in cosmetic area. One type of such a device is a cosmetic application device. The cosmetic application device is an innovative tool designed for the efficient and convenient application of various cosmetic liquids.

[0004] Typically, a pen type applicator is used to apply a liquid eyeliner. Such an applicator generally comprises an elongated barrel and an applicator tip mounted at a distal end thereof. The elongated barrel has a chamber therein, and this chamber is filled with the liquid eyeliner (also referred to as "eyeliner ink" ) . An appropriate amount of the liquid eyeliner in the chamber is supplied to the applicator tip via a liquid eyeliner transporting member.

[0005] However, these existing applicators have a disadvantage in that they cannot handle liquid eyeliner that contains large or glittering particles. This is because large or glittering particles cannot be transported by the liquid eyeliner transporting member.

[0006] In order to address this problem, another type of applicator (apparatus) is proposed in which the applicator tip is immersed in a liquid eyeliner stored in a container prior to use, thereby adhering an appropriate amount of liquid eyeliner to the applicator tip. This device comprises two primary components: a container that holds the cosmetic liquid and an applicator that can be detachably attached to the container.

[0007] In traditional dip-in liner systems, the latest design incorporates a sifter, also known as a wiper, integrated into the cap. This component is intended to remove excess product that adheres to the applicator tip or the distal end  of the barrel. However, real-world trials and user feedback indicate that this mechanism often falls short of its purpose. The sifter fails to effectively manage the product, leading to inconsistent application and unsatisfactory makeup performance. Users have frequently reported dissatisfaction with the overall efficacy of these systems, highlighting the need for innovation and improvement in the design and functionality of dip-in liner applicators.

[0008] It may be appreciated that, despite various advancements in cosmetic applicator designs, there continues to be a pressing need for a device that can effectively store and apply cosmetic products. Existing solutions often fall short in ensuring precise application, preventing product wastage, and maintaining hygiene. A device for storing and applying a product that addresses one or more of these challenges can significantly enhance the user experience, providing both convenience and optimal makeup results.SUMMARY

[0009] An object of the present invention is to provide a device for storing and applying a product. Thanks to the design of the wiper and applicator tip and the parameters and formula properties, the device for storing and applying a product according to the present application may achieve precise and stable formula deposits, exceeding expectations in accuracy and consistency. This device may also enable us to introduce rarely launched chromatic shades, ensuring vibrant and unique color applications.

[0060] As shown in FIG. 2, the applicator 100 further comprises a connector 120 which is fixed or mounted on a distal end 110a of the barrel 110. In one embodiment, the applicator 100 further comprises a tip holder 130 for holding the applicator tip 140 therein. The tip holder 130 has an outer form that gradually tapers from its middle to the lower end. The tip holder 130 is hollow along the longitudinal axis thereof, for receiving the applicator tip  140 therein. The upper end of the tip holder 130 is received within the connector 120. In the embodiment as shown in FIG. 2, the connector 120 and the tip holder 130 are two separate components, but in other embodiments, the connector 120 and the tip holder 130 may be formed as one piece, and the upper end is fixed or mounted on a distal end 110a of the barrel 110, and the lower end is used for receiving the applicator tip 140 therein. In another embodiment, the connector 120 and the tip holder 130 may be formed as one piece with the barrel 110.

[0061] According to one embodiment of the present application, the barrel 110, the connector 120 and the tip holder 130 are manufactured from a plastic such as polypropylene (PP) , PET, PBT, PS, etc. The applicator tip 140 is fixedly held by the tip holder 130. The applicator tip 140 is mounted on the tip holder 130 so as to protrude from a distal end or lower end of the tip holder 130. In this embodiment, the applicator 100 and the container 200 are configured such that when the applicator 100 and the container 200 are coupled with each other, the tip holder 130 and applicator tip 140 of the applicator 100 are fully received in the container 200.

[0062] Still referring to FIG. 2, the applicator 100 and the container 200 are configured to be able to couple with each other such that the applicator tip 140 is located in the space 260 of the container 200 and the applicator 100 seals off the container 200. In this embodiment, the applicator 100 and the container 200 are configured so as to be able to couple with each other by snap fitting. Furthermore, the applicator 100 and the container 200 are configured to be separable from each other such that the applicator 100 can be used for application of the cosmetic product P with the applicator tip 140.

[0063] FIG. 3 is a partially cutaway perspective view of a container 200 of the device 1000 according to another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 4 is a partially cutaway perspective view of the container 200 as well as parts of the applicator 100 of the device 1000 according to another embodiment of the present invention, in which the connector 120, the tip holder 130 and the applicator tip 140 of the applicator 100 are shown in a state that the applicator 100 is coupled with the container 200.

[0064] As shown in FIG. 3, the container 200 comprises a tubular member forming the tubular peripheral wall 220, and a plug member forming the end plug 280. In one embodiment of the present invention, both the tubular member 220 and the plug member 280 are manufactured from a plastic such as polypropylene (PP) , PET, PBT, PS, etc. The plug member 280 is fitted in a lower end of the tubular member 220 so as to close the lower end of the tubular member 220. In order to close the lower end of the tubular member 220 by means of the plug member 280, an interference fitting or screwing can be adopted. Alternatively, it is also possible to glue the plug member 280 in the lower end of the tubular member 220 by means of adhesive for example.

[0065] In one exemplary embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3, the container 200 further comprises a wiper 230 for controlling the amount of the product P to be adhered to the applicator tip 140 of the applicator 100. In particular, excess product is removed or blocked from the applicator tip 140 of the applicator 100 by means of the wiper 230. In one exemplary embodiment, the wiper 230 protrudes inward and downward from the tubular peripheral wall 220 towards the longitudinal central axis X2 of the container 200. In this embodiment, the wiper 230 is integrally formed on the tubular peripheral wall 220 of the container 200 by integral molding. Of course, the wiper 230 can be a separate member from the main body of the container 200. It is preferable that the wiper 230 is formed as one piece with the container 200, so as to reduce the number of parts and the number of manufacturing processes and thus reduce the cost.

[0066] As shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, when the applicator 100 and the container 200 are coupled with each other, the applicator tip 140 is located at least in part below the wiper 230 after the applicator tip 140 has passed through the wiper 230. More specifically, the wiper 230extends circumferentially around the longitudinal central axis X2 of the container 200 such that it forms a side surface of a virtual truncated cone whose diameter decreases toward the end plug 280 of the container 200. In one embodiment as shown in fig. 3, the wiper 230 includes a central through hole 250 so that the  applicator tip 140 can pass through the wiper 230 when the applicator 100 is closed to the container 200. This configuration makes it possible to insert the applicator tip 140 into the wiper 230 smoothly. In this embodiment, the wiper 230 is further configured such that when the distal end of the applicator tip 140 moves through the wiper 230, the distal end of the applicator tip 140 does not contact with the wiper 230until the applicator 100 and the container 200 are coupled with each other.

[0067] As mentioned above, the container 200 functions as a cap for the applicator 100. An integrated wiper 230 inside the container effectively removes excess product adhering to the applicator tip 140. This design in the present application eliminates the need for a separate bulky container, which is common in conventional immersion type articles. This design is suitable for various types of cosmetic products, particularly liquid eyeliners, even those containing large or glittering particles. The innovative design ensures a smooth application without clumping or excess product. Moreover, the built-in wiper ensures that only the necessary amount of product adheres to the applicator tip, reducing waste and ensuring a clean application every time.

[0068] In another preferred embodiment, the container 200 can contain a stirring element 270 for stirring the cosmetic product P so that the product P is more evenly adhered to the applicator tip 140. In one example as shown in FIG. 3, the stirring element 270 is a ball which is preferably made of metal, and the diameter of the stirring element 270 is larger than the diameter of the through hole 250 so as not to allow the stirring element 270 to pass through the through hole 250, so that the stirring element remains inside of the container 200even if the applicator 100 is removed from the container 200 and the container 200 is in an inverted position. In one embodiment, the wiper 230 further comprises a multiple of ribs 240 which are arranged on the outer surface of the lower end of the wiper 230. The ribs 240extend radially outward from the outer surface of the lower end of the wiper 230, so as to avoid that the stirring element 270 is trapped in the space between the inner circumferential surface of the tubular member 220 and  the outer circumferential surface ofwiper 230during usage or when shaking the device 1000. In other words, the radially disposed ribs 240 prevent the stirring element 270 inside the container 200 from being stuck when shaking the container 200 for transferring the formula to the applicator tip 140 of the applicator 100.

[0069] In one exemplary embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3, an annular groove 222 is formed on the inner surface of the tubular peripheral wall 220 of the container 200. The annular groove 222extends circumferentially around the longitudinal central axis X2 of the container 200 so as to receive an annular rib extending circumferentially around the outer circumferential surface of the connector 120. In other words, when the applicator 100 and the container 200 are coupled with each other, the annular rib (not shown) of the barrel 110 fits or snap into the annular groove 222 of the container 200. In one example, the container 200 includes one or more bumps 221 formed on the inner surface of the tubular peripheral wall 220 so as to lock the container 200 with the connector 120 by snapping on. The bumps 221 help to keep the applicator 100 being coupled with the container 200unless a sufficient force is applied to separate applicator 100 from container 200. It is to be understood that, the applicator 100 can be connected to the container 200 via thread connection, snap-in connection and magnetic connection, etc.

[0070] When the applicator 100 and the container 200 are coupled with each other, the device has a smooth, continuous, and elegant appearance, with no visible steps or seams between the applicator 100 and the container 200. This not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also provides a seamless user experience.

[0071] FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a container 200 of the device 1000 according to one embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, the wiper 230 has a shape of a cone 231, with its tip end 232 being closed. There are one or more through holes 233 arranged on the lateral surface of the cone 231. In the embodiment as shown in FIG. 5, there are two through holes 233. FIG. 6 is a perspective view of a container 200 of the device 1000 according to another embodiment of the present invention. In this  embodiment, the wiper 230 also has a shape of a cone 231, with its tip end 232 being closed. There are three through holes 233 arranged on the lateral surface of the cone 231 as shown in FIG. 6. It is to be understood that the number of through holes 233 is not limited. The through holes 233 are used to control the amount of the formula to be adhered to the applicator tip 140, so that a precise amount of formula is adhered to the applicator tip 140 and dispensed in a stable way. In contrast, in a conventional device, the applicator usually carries too much formula, and usually there is messiness on the distal end of the applicator tip, and thus the use of the conventional device is dissatisfied.

[0072] FIG. 7 is a perspective view of a container 200 of the device 1000 according to yet another embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, similar to the embodiment as shown in fig. 3, the wiper 230 includes a central through hole 250, but the wiper 230 also includes four slots 234 extending from the through hole 250 to the lateral surface of the cone. The number of slots 234 are not limited. The slots 234 will promote a more even distribution of the product over the applicator tip 140.

[0073] FIG. 8 is a schematic cross-sectional view of the device 1000 according to another embodiment of the present invention, and wherein some relevant dimensions of the device 1000 according to an embodiment of the present invention are illustrated. FIG. 9 is a schematic cross-sectional view of the applicator 100 of the device 1000 according to the embodiment of the present invention in FIG. 8, and wherein some relevant dimensions of the applicator 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention are illustrated.

[0074] In one embodiment of the present invention, the applicator tip 140 is in interference fit with the wiper 230 or has a small gap with the wiper 230 when the applicator 100 and the container 200 are coupled with each other. In other words, if there is an interference fit between the applicator tip 140 and the wiper 230, it can be defined that the gap between the applicator tip 140 and the wiper 230 is a negative number. In one embodiment of the present invention, the gap between the applicator tip 140 and the wiper 230  is from-0.1 mm to 0.1 mm when the applicator 100 and the container 200 are coupled with each other. In this way, a precise amount of product is distributed to applicator tip for a stable and proper deposit transferring a good make up performance.

[0075] In one embodiment of the present invention, as shown in fig. 9, the applicator tip 140 has an exposure length D1 measured from the distal end of the applicator tip 140 to the distal end of the tip holder 130, and the exposure length D1 is about 5-9 mm, and the exposure length D1 is preferably 6±0.5 mm. In one embodiment of the present invention, as shown in fig. 8, the applicator tip 140 has an exposure length D2 measured from the distal end of the applicator tip 140 to the distal end of the wiper 230 when the applicator 100 and the container 200 are coupled with each other, and the exposure length D2 is about 1.5 mm-4 mm, and the exposure length D2 is more preferably 3 mm–3.5 mm, and is most preferably 3.2 mm. In one embodiment of the present invention, the volume of cavity of wiper 230 is defined by a volume of a hollow space of the wiper from the distal end of the wiper to the contact point between the wiper 230 and the applicator tip 140. In one example, the volume of cavity of wiper 230 is 0.002-0.003 ml. In one embodiment of the present invention, the cosmetic product or cosmetic formula has a viscosity from 150 to 600 centipoises (cps) . The product or formula may have the following properties:

[0076] fluid: exhibits optimal flow characteristics, ensuring smooth and consistent application;

[0077] color: vibrant and rich hues that are visually appealing and enhance the overall aesthetic;

[0078] pigment: high-quality pigments provide excellent coverage and longevity, ensuring the color remains true and vibrant over time;

[0079] chromatic: delivers a wide range of chromatic possibilities, allowing for diverse and dynamic color expressions.

[0080] FIG. 10 is a cross-sectional view of the device 1000 according to another embodiment of the present invention, wherein a funnel 290 is arranged within the container 200. As shown in FIG. 10, the funnel 290 is  arranged between the end plug 280 and the wiper 230, so that the product or formula is guided in a more central way to the applicator tip 140, and thus when shaking the container 200 in case that there is less product or formula left in the container 200, the product or formula will reach the applicator tip 140 more easily. Moreover, the funnel 290 will prevent the stirring element 270 inside the container 200 from being stuck when shaking the container 200 for transferring the formula to the applicator tip 140 of the applicator 100. In other words, the funnel 290replaces the radially disposed ribs 240 with regards to the function of preventing the stirring element 270 being stuck.

[0081] FIG. 11 is a perspective view of the funnel 290 of the device 1000 according to the embodiment in FIG. 10 of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 11, the funnel 290 includes a cylinder 291, and a channel 293 is formed through the cylinder 291 so as to allow the product to reach the applicator tip 140. The funnel 290 further includes lobes 292 for receiving the stirring element 270 which is shown in FIG. 10. In one embodiment, the funnel 290 further includes slots 294 extending between the lobes 292, and the slots 294 allow the product to flow between the stirring element 270 and the lobes 292. In this way, the funnel 290 does not occupy much of the volume in the container 200. When the device 1000 is in an upright position as shown in FIG. 11, the container is placed upside down, and the stirring element 270 seats onto the funnel 290. When the applicator 100 is pulled out of the container 200, the funnel 290 will prevent the product in the container from flowing out. In other words, the funnel 290 avoids the risk of the product in the container 200 splashing out.

[0082] FIG. 12 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the device 1000 according to another embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 12, the applicator 100 includes an external thread 123, and the container 200 includes an internal thread 223 for engaging with the external thread 123, and in this way, the applicator 100 is connected to the container 200 via thread connection.

[0083] Thanks to the design of the wiper and applicator tip and the parameters  and formula properties, the device for storing and applying a product according to the present application achieves precise and stable formula deposits, exceeding expectations in accuracy and consistency. This device also enables us to introduce rarely launched chromatic shades, ensuring vibrant and unique color applications.

[0084] Aspects of the present disclosure have been described in detail with reference to the illustrated embodiments; those skilled in the art will recognize, however, that many modifications may be made thereto without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. The present disclosure is not limited to the precise construction and compositions disclosed herein; any and all modifications, changes, and variations apparent from the foregoing descriptions are within the scope of the disclosure as defined by the appended claims. Moreover, the present concepts expressly include any and all combinations and sub combinations of the preceding elements and features.
