Abstract
The invention relates to a roller (1) having a covering (1.2) made of a flexible material and provided for intended use as a counter roller in a shoe press for dewatering a fibrous material web (4), the shoe press comprising a press shoe (2), a press sleeve (3) and at least one felt (5), and the press shoe having an effective press shoe width of |AA'|, characterised in that the covering (1.2) has an effective roller covering width of |BB'|, and wherein |AA'| > |BB'|, and wherein an undersize |AA'| - |BB'| of the effective roller covering width |BB'| with respect to the effective press shoe width |AA'| lies in a range of 10 mm to 50 mm, and wherein the undersize |AA'| - |BB'| of the effective roller covering width |BB'| with respect to the effective press shoe width |AA'| is distributed on both sides of the roller (1), so that a first one-sided undersize |AB| is arranged on a first side of the roller and a second one-sided undersize |A'B'| is arranged on a second side of the roller.
