Abstract
Description
Product Combination Recommendation Method and System
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a method and system for recommending product combinations, and more specifically, to a method for recommending product combinations to a user who intends to purchase multiple products by reflecting both the user's individual preferences and the preferences of all users.
[0002] With the advancement of logistics services and communication infrastructure today, online product transactions are becoming increasingly active. These online transactions primarily take place through online shopping malls. Online shopping malls display detailed information about the products for sale on their web pages, and users decide whether to purchase based on this information. In particular, online food delivery services account for the largest share of online product transactions. While users sometimes order just one dish, it is also common for them to order two or more dishes at once. Currently, users add each item to their shopping cart and place a single order when ordering multiple dishes; however, if product combinations were recommended by store, users would be able to order multiple dishes more conveniently. Therefore, there is a need for a method in online food delivery services to recommend product combinations sold by store by considering both individual user preferences and the preferences of all users.
[0003] The technical problem to be solved through the embodiments of the present disclosure is to provide a method for recommending a combination of at least two products among a plurality of products provided by a vendor to a user in a food delivery service, by reflecting both the user's individual preferences and the preferences of all users.
[0004] In addition, the technical problem to be solved through the embodiments of the present disclosure is to provide a method for recommending a sales outlet that sells a combination of products by reflecting both the user's personal preference and the preferences of all users when a user enters two or more types of products as search terms.
[0005] A product combination recommendation method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is performed by a computing device and may include the steps of: generating product recommendation data for a user based on the user's usage history of a target service and the product sales history of the target service; determining a combination of at least two products among a plurality of products sold by a first sales outlet based on the product recommendation data; generating a first widget for displaying the determined combination; and rendering the first widget on a product sales page of the first sales outlet.
[0006] In one embodiment, the target service usage history may include the user's purchase history for a plurality of products sold in the target service, and the product sales history may include information related to the combination of products included in a single order processed in the target service.
[0007] In one embodiment, the step of determining the combination may include the step of determining a first combination with the highest purchase frequency of the user, the step of determining a second combination with the highest cumulative sales ranking of the target service, and the step of determining a third combination with the highest cumulative sales ranking of the first sales outlet.
[0008] In one embodiment, the step of generating the first widget may include the step of obtaining the sales ranking of the first sales outlet corresponding to each of the first combination, the second combination, and the third combination during a preset period, and the step of sorting the first combination, the second combination, and the third combination in order of highest to lowest sales ranking and displaying them on the first widget.
[0009] In one embodiment, the step of determining the combination may include the step of determining the combination based on the time period when the user uses the target service.
[0010] In one embodiment, the step of determining the combination may include the step of automatically determining selectable options for products included in the combination based on the user's usage history of the target service.
[0011] In one embodiment, the step of creating the first widget may include, when there are two or more determined combinations, the step of classifying the combinations into multiple price ranges, and the step of creating a tab of the first widget to display the combinations according to the multiple classified price ranges.
[0012] In one embodiment, the step of generating the first widget may include the step of generating a thumbnail image corresponding to the determined combination of the first widget based on an image of a previously written review for the determined combination.
[0013] A product combination recommendation method according to another embodiment of the present disclosure is performed by a computing device and may include the steps of: generating product recommendation data for a user based on the user's usage history of a target service and the product sales history of the target service; receiving a search term including a first product and a second product from the user; rendering a search result page for displaying a plurality of sales outlets selling at least one of the first product and the second product based on the product recommendation data and the search term; determining a combination of the first product and the second product sold by the plurality of sales outlets; generating a first widget for displaying the determined combination; and rendering the first widget on the search result page.
[0014] In one embodiment, the step of determining the combination may include the step of determining the combination of the first product sold at the first sales outlet among the plurality of sales outlets and the second product sold at the second sales outlet.

[0035] FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing the configuration of a shopping service providing system (10) according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Referring to FIG. 1, the shopping service providing system (10) may include a user terminal (100) and a service server (200).
[0036] A user terminal (100) may be a computing device used by a user to receive shopping services from a service server (200). As illustrated exemplarily in FIG. 1, the user terminal (100) may include a smartphone (100a), a desktop (100b), a laptop (100c), etc. However, the present disclosure is not limited thereto, and the user terminal (100) may be implemented as any device. In the following, any user terminal (e.g., 100a) or all user terminals (e.g., 100a to 100c) collectively will be denoted by reference numeral 100. The user terminal (100) may be referred to as a 'client terminal', a 'buyer / purchaser terminal', a 'consumer terminal', etc.
[0037] The service server (200) may refer to a computing device / system that provides shopping services. For example, the service server (200) may refer to a device / system (e.g., a shopping mall server) that provides an online shopping site or an online food ordering site. The service server (200) may provide shopping services or food delivery services for registered products.
[0038] Meanwhile, in the present disclosure, the service server (200) providing a specific page / screen to a user may mean rendering the specific page / screen on the screen of the user terminal (100) (e.g., the screen of a web browser or application running on the user terminal (100)). Accordingly, in the following specification, rendering a specific component will be understood as providing or displaying the corresponding specific component on the screen of the user terminal (100).
[0039] The following description of embodiments of the present disclosure is to assume that the service server (200) is a device / system that provides an online food ordering site to a user terminal (100), the target service is a food delivery service, the seller is a restaurant registered on the online food ordering site that provides food delivery services, and the product is a menu sold at the restaurant. However, it should be noted that the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto and can be applied in the same way to general online shopping services other than food delivery services.
[0040] The service server (200) can generate product recommendation data for the user based on the user's target service usage history and the target service's product sales history. For example, the user's target service usage history includes the user's purchase history for multiple products sold in the target service, and the product sales history may include information related to the combination of products included in a single order processed in the target service.
[0041] More specifically, the user's purchase history for multiple products sold in the target service may correspond to the user's order history for all of the multiple menus of multiple restaurants sold in the food delivery service provided by the service server (200). Additionally, the product sales history may correspond to the sales history of all of the multiple menus of multiple restaurants sold in the food delivery service provided by the service server (200). Therefore, the product recommendation data for the user may be the result of considering both the user's personal preferences and the preferences of all users of the food delivery service. For example, the product recommendation data for the user may be data in which the food to be recommended to the user is sorted in order of highest ranking.
[0042] The service server (200) can determine a combination of at least two products among a plurality of products sold by a first sales outlet based on such product recommendation data. Here, the first sales outlet may be one of the restaurants that provide food delivery services through the service server (200), and the plurality of products may correspond to a plurality of foods sold at the first sales outlet (restaurant). Therefore, a combination of at least two products among a plurality of products determined based on product recommendation data may correspond to a combination of at least two foods that users frequently order together at a single restaurant. For example, assuming the first sales outlet is an Italian restaurant, a combination of at least two products among the plurality of products may be {pizza, pasta} or {pizza, pasta, risotto}.
[0043] The combination of products determined in this way may be one or more depending on the case. In some embodiments, the service server (200) may determine a combination of products with the highest purchase frequency among a plurality of products sold by a first sales outlet (hereinafter referred to as the first combination), a combination of products with the highest cumulative sales ranking of the target service (hereinafter referred to as the second combination), and a combination of products with the highest cumulative sales ranking of the first sales outlet (hereinafter referred to as the third combination).
[0044] More specifically, the first combination corresponds to the combination of products most frequently ordered by the user at the first sales outlet, the second combination corresponds to the combination of products most frequently ordered by all users of the target service at all sales outlets (e.g., all Italian restaurants) that sell the same type of products as the first sales outlet, and the third combination corresponds to the combination of products most frequently ordered by all users of the target service at the first sales outlet. Therefore, the first to third combinations may correspond to the results of considering the user's individual preferences, the preferences of all users, and the preferences of all users at the first sales outlet.
[0045] In some other embodiments, the service server (200) may determine a combination of products based on the time period when the user uses the target service. For example, if the first sales outlet is a restaurant that provides a separate breakfast menu, the service server (200) may prioritize determining a combination that includes the breakfast menu when determining a combination of multiple products sold at the first sales outlet during a pre-set breakfast time period (e.g., from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM). Alternatively, if the first sales outlet sells a specific food only during a specific time period, the service server (200) may determine a combination of multiple products using the remaining food, excluding the specific food, during the remaining time period other than the corresponding specific time period.
[0046] In another embodiment, the service server (200) can automatically determine selectable options for products included in a determined combination based on the user's target service usage history. For example, when ordering a sandwich or hamburger, the user may select options to add or exclude specific ingredients. In this case, if the service server (200) includes products in the determined combination for which options must be selected, and the user has a history of selecting a specific option among the selectable options for the same product, the specific option may be automatically selected in the same way for the same product included in the combination. Of course, the user may change the option later.
[0047] When a combination of products is determined in this way, the service server (200) can generate a first widget to display the determined combination. After that, the service server (200) can render the first widget on the product sales page of the first sales outlet displayed on the user terminal (100). Below, we will further examine embodiments related to the generation of the first widget.
[0048] In some embodiments, the service server (200) may obtain the sales ranking of the first sales outlet corresponding to each of the aforementioned first combination (a combination of products with the highest purchase frequency by users), second combination (a combination of products with the highest cumulative sales ranking of the target service), and third combination (a combination of products with the highest cumulative sales ranking of the first sales outlet) during a preset period. For reference, the cumulative sales ranking of the first sales outlet that serves as the standard for the third combination represents the sales ranking from the time the first sales outlet began providing services through the target service until the present, and this will be different from the sales ranking of the first sales outlet corresponding to each of the first combination, second combination, and third combination obtained during the aforementioned preset period. The service server (200) may sort the first combination, second combination, and third combination in order of highest to lowest sales ranking and display them on the first widget.
[0049] In some other embodiments, if there are two or more combinations of determined products, the service server (200) may classify the two or more combinations into multiple price ranges. The service server (200) may create a tab of a first widget to display the two or more combinations by the classified multiple price ranges. However, the present disclosure is not limited thereto, and in some other embodiments, a chip may be created to display by multiple price ranges instead of a tab, or the two or more combinations displayed on the first widget may be sorted according to price without the separate creation of a tab or a chip.
[0050] Meanwhile, the service server (200) can generate a thumbnail image corresponding to the determined combination of the first widget based on an image of a previously written review for the determined combination. However, in some cases, the service server (200) may use the thumbnail image of the product provided by the first sales outlet as is.
[0051] Up until now, we have examined embodiments in which a first widget is rendered to display a combination of recommended products on the product sales page of a first sales outlet. Meanwhile, in another embodiment, the service server (200) may respond to a user entering two or more products as search terms, search for a sales outlet that sells a combination of two or more corresponding products, and then display the searched sales outlet and the combination of products sold at that sales outlet. We will examine such embodiments in detail below.
[0052] The service server (200) can generate product recommendation data for the user based on the user's target service usage history and the target service's product sales history. The service server (200) can receive a search term including a first product and a second product from the user. After that, the service server (200) can render a search result page on the user terminal (100) to display multiple sales outlets selling at least one of the first product and the second product based on the product recommendation data and the search term.
[0053] The service server (200) can determine a combination of a first product and a second product sold by multiple sales outlets. At this time, the service server (200) may determine a combination of a first product and a second product sold at a single sales outlet, or a combination of a first product sold at a first sales outlet and a second product sold at a second sales outlet. The service server (200) may create a first widget to display the determined combination and render it on a search result page displayed on a user terminal (100). In some cases, instead of being rendered directly on the search result page, the first widget may be displayed in the form of a popup or nudge in response to a user's pre-set operation (e.g., long tap, mouse hovering, etc.) regarding the sales outlet displayed on the search result page.
[0054] The service server (200) may be implemented with at least one computing device. For example, all functions of the service server (200) may be implemented in a single computing device, or the first function of the service server (200) may be implemented in a first computing device and the second function may be implemented in a second computing device. Alternatively, specific functions of the service server (200) may be implemented in multiple computing devices. For example, the computing device may include all types of devices equipped with computation means and communication means.
[0055] The user terminal (100) can also perform various operations / functions to provide the shopping service described above. For example, the shopping service of the service server (200) can be provided through a web browser or application of the user terminal (100). For instance, the user terminal (100) can render a widget displaying a combination of recommended products on the screen of the web browser or application in conjunction with the service server (200).
[0056] As illustrated in FIG. 1, the user terminal (100) and the service server (200) can communicate through a network. For example, the network can be implemented as any type of wired or wireless network, such as a Local Area Network (LAN), a Wide Area Network (WAN), a mobile radio communication network, or Wibro (Wireless Broadband Internet).
[0057] Up to this point, with reference to FIG. 1, a shopping service provided by a user terminal (100) and a service server (200) according to some embodiments of the present disclosure has been described in a schematic manner. Hereinafter, a method for providing a shopping service according to some embodiments of the present disclosure will be described through a specific user interface displayed on the user terminal (100). For example, the user interface may be a screen displayed on an application running on the user terminal (100) or on a web browser.
[0058] FIG. 2 illustrates an exemplary product sales page (20) according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Referring to FIG. 2, a first widget (21) is rendered on the product sales page (20). The first widget (21) includes a combination of multiple products, and reference numeral 22 corresponds to one of the combinations of multiple products. The combination (22) displays a product name, a price, and a thumbnail (23). As described with reference to FIG. 1, the thumbnail (23) may be generated based on a review image corresponding to the combination (22). The combination (22) consists of assorted sashimi and tenderloin cutlet, which is likely the result of considering the user's personal preference, the overall user preference, and the sales ranking of the retailer. When the user selects the combination (22), a product detail page is rendered, which is described with reference to FIG. 3.
[0059] FIG. 3 illustrates an exemplary product detail page (30) according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Referring to FIG. 3, the product detail page (30) is a detail page corresponding to a combination (22) on a first widget rendered on the product sales page (20) of FIG. 2. Reference numeral 31 indicates that selectable options for assorted sashimi are automatically determined, which may be options selected by the user when previously ordering the same assorted sashimi from the same seller. When the option modification button is selected, a product option selection page is rendered, which is described with reference to FIG. 4.
[0060] FIG. 4 illustrates an exemplary product option selection page (40) according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Referring to FIG. 4, an option such as reference numeral 31 of FIG. 3 is selected, and the user may select an option other than the automatically determined option on the product option selection page (40).
[0061] FIG. 5 illustrates an exemplary product sales page (20) according to another embodiment of the present disclosure.
