Abstract

A cap-holding assembly and system includes a container having a protuberance and a cap for releasably sealing the container. The protuberance is formed continuously with the container and is shaped to receive the cap in a releasable manner. The protuberance is optionally an extension of the container, thereby increasing container volume, or may be a monolithic extension that does not increase container volume. The protuberance projects proximate an opening of the container and may be protruding outward from a shoulder region of the bottle container. The cap-holding assembly and system provides for releasable storage for the cap while aiding in dispensing fluid from the container in a controlled manner and minimizes dropping or misplacing the cap during a use. In some embodiments, the structure of the cap-holding assembly provides for a smoother, faster pour of bottle contents.

[0004] The present invention relates to a container cap holding and storage assembly and system for the same. More specifically, the present invention presents embodiments and systems for a container cap holder and storage assembly and arrangement for the use thereof.Description of the Related Art

[0005] In the field of containers, containers (or bottles) with caps, especially screw-on caps, can be inconvenient and impractical for several reasons. These systems and assemblies often require two hands to open and close, making them difficult to use while performing other tasks, such as driving, carrying a child, or walking a pet. Additionally, the risk of losing, damaging, or contaminating the post-removal cap can lead to spills, evaporation, and spoilage of the bottle's contents. This is especially true for users who frequently open and close the bottle, such as during sports or exercise and require frequent re-sealing. For traveling bottle users, or those who otherwise need to transport their bottles, these issues can be especially inconvenient and often necessitate discarding the bottle and its contents.PATENT 2 QUIXO.P007PCT

[0006] Moreover, conventional capped bottles are not limited to beverage bottles and similar issues can be found in bottles for condiments, cooking oil, medicine, shower and beauty products, alcohol / liquor, lotion and skincare, cleaning products, chemicals, and related products. Such issues such as losing, damaging, or contaminating the cap while these bottles are uncapped can be exacerbated during tasks that require a bottle to be uncapped for extended periods of time. For example, oil changes, vehicle-related fluid refills, baking / cooking, bartending, cleaning, experimentation, surgical / medical procedures, etc.

[0008] With knowledge of the aforementioned circumstances, the invention is based on the objects of addressing one or more of the concerns noted herein and above.

[0009] One adaptive aspect or object of the present invention is to provide an improvement to one or more of the concerns noted herein and above.

[0010] Briefly described, in the proposed structure, system and arrangement one adaptive embodiment of the cap-holding assembly is a novel structure in the form of a projection, a protuberance, a form of bump-out structure extending from a container to receive and temporarily secure a cap or top for bottles that contain soda, water, juice, and / or a wide variety of other liquids of personal and commercial natures. The bump-out holds bottlecaps while the user is pouring or drinking the bottle's contents or for temporary storage during a use. As an additional benefit the protuberance, projection, or bump-out also aids in a faster, smoother pour (approximately 5-12% faster than a container without such a structure) by providing for a pressure regulation impact on a fluid being dispensed from a container.

[0011] One adaptive aspect or object of the present invention is to provide a cap holding assembly and system and a method for using the same, wherein the cap-holding assembly provides a securing structure to retain a container’s cap on a side of the container by either separately screwing or pushing the cap onto the protuberance, projection or bump-out. The cap-holding assembly solves the problem of dropping or misplacing a bottlecap when the user is pouring or drinking the liquid from the bottle. The cap-holding assembly is a functionality that can be applied without limitation to other types of material-based containers; including those constructed fromPATENT 3 QUIXO.P007PCTplastic, glass, aluminum, and stainless steel bottles / vessels in other industries (for example: automotive, household products, restaurant and beverage industries). Lastly, the cap-holding assembly and assembly herein addresses the problem of not having an accessible hand to take a bottle cap off when a user is driving and or otherwise unable to hold the bottlecap.

[0012] According to another adaptive embodiment of the present invention, a cap-holding assembly and system includes a bottle container having a protuberance and a removable cap for releasably sealing the bottle container. The protuberance is formed continuously with the bottle and is shaped to receive the cap in a pressure fit or threaded manner while extending from the bottle. The protuberance is in the form of an enclosed extension of the bottle container, thereby increasing container volume, or may be a monolithic extension that does not increase container volume. The protuberance projects proximate an opening of the bottle container for convenience and may be protruding outward from a shoulder region of the bottle container. Protuberance 102 may be formed as an extended volume portion of container or bottle 104 (as shown in Fig. 7) or may be a solid monolithic element extending from bottle 104. As a preferred embodiment the protuberance 102 projections outwardly from bottle 104 proximate the top opening bottleneck 106, as shown but is not so restricted thereto.

[0043] As shown, protuberance 102 protrudes from below the bottleneck 106 but may be located anywhere on either cylindrical or non-cylindrical bottles. In one embodiment, protruding outwardly from container or bottle 104 protuberance 102 provides for an isolated void on the interior of the protuberance or bump-out 102 which provides for a small air pocket with the contents of the bottle 104. [0045] In the exemplary specimen illustration, the protuberance, projection, or bump-out 102 features the receiving profde 110, shown as an outer receiving grooves 110 formed as part of the exterior surface of the protuberance / bump-out 102. The receiving profile 110 (grooves 110) enable cap 150 (e.g., a threaded cap) to be press-secured onto and pressure-removed from bumpout 102 by either pushing cap 150 onto bump-out 102 or by interferenly engaging with the internal threads of a screw-on cap 150 which is formed for engaging threads 108 during a use thereof. At the lowermost portion of the bump-out 102 is the contact surface 112 which provides a generally continuous contact surface for aiding in the securing of cap 150 on bump-out 102 between uses.

Consequently, a non-threaded ( snap on type ) type cap 150 maybe merely pressure-removed from container 104 and pressed on protuberance 102 and a threaded type cap 150 which engages threads 108 in sealing may be twist-removed from the main opening 106 and press fit on to protuberance 102 thereby allowing easy adaptation to use and cap-formations used.

[0048] Those of skill in the art of container construction will understand that protuberance, projection or bump-out 102 may be of any suitable shape to securely retain and receive cap 150 to serve the purpose thereof. However, as discussed and shown herein the present embodiment (referring additionally to Fig. 7) a closed protuberance 102 provides for an additional gas / air volume that may aid pouring and minimize a vacuum lock (e.g., temporary air flow interference) during pouring and thereby improving the operation of pouring a fluid from container 104 in capholding assembly 100.

[0051] Additionally referring now to Fig. 8, wherein a table is illustrated and provides in tabular form the results of selected flow rate experiment for repeated trials 1-10, wherein a capholding assembly 100, in accordance with the present disclosure is provided with three different volumes of protuberance, projection or bump-out 102 (none, smaller, medium, and larger). In the experiment, a series of 10 trials were conducted to determine the effect the bump-out, hereinafter "blister," had on flowrate of contents from the bottle. Trial numbers (ex. Trial #1) are labeled in the leftmost table column. Four equally-sized bottles were used in the experiment, in the form shown in Fig. 1, with one bottle having no blister ("no blister") as a control, one bottle having a small blister ("small blister"), one bottle having a medium blister ("medium blister"), and one bottle having a large blister ("large blister"). The bottles were filled with two cups of water (16 fluid ounces). The bottles tipped and were timed using a stopwatch from the point at which water began pouring from the bottle at a 45-degree angle to the moment the bottle was empty. Flow rate was measured using formula Flow Rate= Volume / Time (in cups / fluid ounces per second).

[0052] The cumulative average time (in seconds) for each blister type and the percentage (%) difference in time from the control group are presented in the bottom rows of the table. Trial results found that the medium-sized blister bottle had the fastest flow rate, as well as thePATENT 10 QUIXO.P007PCTfastest / smoothest pour indicative of little to no vacuum lock (e.g., temporary air flow interference) and a smooth pour without ‘burping’ back int the volume for container 104. Additionally, the average pour rate of all three of the blister bottles proved to be faster than the non-blister control bottle. There was a relative benefit range of 5-12% faster / sm other pour rate with all three blistered / bump-out when compared with a non-blister / non-bump-out / non-protuberance, nonprojection version of the proposed apparatus and system.

2. The cap holding assembly, according to claim 1, wherein:said contact surface of said side wall on an upper portion of said container proximate said top portion.

3. The cap holding assembly, according to claim 2, wherein:said receiving profile on said exterior surface of said protuberance includes a smooth surface engagement with said inner surface of said cap during said use.

4. The cap holding assembly, according to claim 2, wherein:said receiving profile on said exterior surface of said protuberance includes a threaded surface engagement with said inner surface of said cap during said use.

5. The cap holding assembly, according to claim 2, wherein:said protuberance being formed from said sealed extension of said side wall of said container; whereby said protuberance has a volume included with said inner volume of said container.
