Method and Apparatus for Measuring Trace Levels of CO in Human Breath Using Cavity Enhanced, Mid-Infared Absorption Spectroscopy

A method and apparatus for analyzing trace levels of CO in human breath for the purpose of, among other things, assessing the severity of pulmonary diseases and monitoring the patient's response to a prescribed treatment. The apparatus measures in situ and in real time the CO concentration at sensitivity levels at least as low as parts per billion. A laser of the apparatus has a wavelength in mid-infrared (MIR) spectrum. The optical is constructed and arranged to perform cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy (CEAS) the breath sample. The cavity includes highly reflective mirrors mounted to each side of the optical cavity to cause the light received from the laser to bounce back and forth within the optical cavity to increase effective path length of the light. A breath intake tube is connected to the optical cavity for collecting a sample of the patient's exhaled breath and transferring it to the optical cavity. A photo detector measures parameters of the light exiting the optical cavity. A controller to operates the system and determines the concentration of CO in the breath sample based on measurements from the photo detector. Appropriate hardware and software display and store the data in real time.

Rapidly locking building/lock components, bridge keys and locking keys to construct uniform whole locked building members and entire locked structures on-the-fly

A plurality of adjacent, aligned, shaped hollow uniform building components, each having four separate distinct key channels are assembled together with a plurality of friction fitting locking keys to accomplish at least three separate distinct locks which become uniform whole friction fitting structural buildings upon alignment of like side surfaces or like end surfaces of uniform building components, together with friction fitting insertion and alignment of one of four separate and distinct shaped uniform bridge keys, then friction fit insertion of the primary locking keys into and through the primary key channels of adjacent and/or abutting uniform building components and uniform bridge keys, thereby rapidly achieving the primary lock and key joint, being the primary finished bonded joint and the primary lock of this invention. The second and third separate distinct locks of this invention are accomplished using corner locking keys to achieve the corner lock and/or center bore hole locking keys to achieve the center bore hole lock. The interior or exterior of a friction fitting structural building is enhanced with other components, including transverse locking keys to form a transverse lock, and key channels may also contain building improvement components.

Yard game apparatus and method

A tossing game and method for throwing a plurality of bola-type projectiles at a target is described. The bola-type projectiles are preferably a pair of golf balls interconnected with a prescribed length of flexible rope. The target includes a rectangular base with a plurality of vertically-stacked tiers, each of which has two vertical supports and a horizontal target member that is horizontally smaller than the horizontal target member of the tier therebelow, creating a “wedding cake” profile. The bolas, when tossed correctly at the target, strike and wrap around a horizontal target member of the tiers, and thereby score a point value assigned to the horizontal target member. The top tier is assigned the highest point value. The middle tier is assigned a lower point value, and the horizontal target member of the bottom tier a lower point value still. Optionally, for bolas that land completely within the boundaries of the rectangular base, a still lower point value may be scored. The players are grouped into two teams of one or more players each, and each team is provided with a plurality of bolas of a distinct color. Each team takes turns tossing all of its bolas towards the target, and when all bolas have been tossed for both teams each team's score is calculated. In this manner, play continues until either team exactly reaches a predetermined winning point total. During a turn, if a team tosses all of its bolas and the resulting score exceeds the winning score, that team's tosses on that turn are ignored.
