Abstract
Description
This application is a divisional application of the invention patent application with application number 201880100496.6 and filing date of December 25, 2018, entitled “Composition for Cleaning Keratin Materials”. Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for keratin materials. The present invention also relates to a method for cleansing keratin materials using said composition. Background Art Cleansing the skin is very important for caring for the face. It must be as effective as possible because greasy residues (e.g. excess sebum), residues from daily use of cosmetics and make-up products (especially waterproof products) accumulate in the skin folds and can clog the skin pores, causing spots to appear.
[0003] Several types of skin cleansing products are known, for example, rinseable cleansing anhydrous oils and gels, as well as foaming creams, lotions and gels.
[0004] Rinseable anhydrous oils and gels have a cleansing effect by virtue of the oils present in these formulations. These oils make it possible to dissolve fatty residues and to disperse the make-up pigments. These products are effective and well tolerated. However, they exhibit the disadvantages of being heavy, not foaming and not imparting a fresh feeling after application, which is disadvantageous from a cosmetic point of view. In addition, products of this type require dry hands when applying to the skin. This method is therefore inconvenient.
[0005] On the other hand, foaming creams, lotions and gels have a cleansing effect with the help of surfactants, which suspend fatty residues on the face. They are effective and pleasant to use because they foam and because they are easy to remove. However, this type of product is not effective in terms of removing make-up (i.e. dissolving the make-up pigments of make-up products).
[0006] Recently, cleansing products, especially facial cleansing compositions, are expected to have not only good foaming ability but also additional cosmetic effects, such as removing excess dead skin cell layers from the skin surface (ie, exfoliation) to provide radiant skin with a youthful appearance.
[0007] Most foaming facial cleansing products well known in the prior art and actually present on the market are based on formulations that usually contain fatty acid salts (soaps), preferably anionic surfactants of the sulfate type (i.e. alkyl sulfates and alkyl ether sulfates). However, these formulations have the disadvantage that, in order to provide a high level of foaming performance, they require the use of large amounts of surfactants (>20%), thus having a high pH (about 9). Those large amounts of soap and sulfate surfactants may cause skin irritation and discomfort (tightness, dryness) on the skin after use, especially when used for a long time.
[0008] Some organic acids are known to be useful for removing excess layers of dead skin cells from the skin surface. However, the addition of such organic acids lowers the pH of the cleansing product, thereby adversely affecting the foaming and rinsing abilities.
[0009] Therefore, there is a need to formulate compositions for cleansing keratin materials having good cleansing properties as well as certain cosmetic benefits brought about by organic acids.
[0010] There remains a need for new compositions having the above mentioned properties and good foaming properties. Summary of the invention The inventors have discovered that this need can be met by the present invention.
[0012] Thus, according to one aspect, the invention relates to a composition for cleaning keratin materials at a pH ranging from 3.5 to 5.0, comprising in an aqueous phase: a) at least one linear α-olefin sulfonate as an anionic surfactant; and b) at least one organic acid as cosmetic active ingredient.
[0013] According to another aspect, the present invention provides a method for cleansing keratin materials, in particular the skin, comprising applying to a keratin material, in particular the skin, a composition according to the invention and rinsing said composition after an optional period of time.
[0014] The composition according to the present invention is capable of delivering gentle massage and cleansing to the skin without any roughness.
[0015] The compositions according to the present invention also deliver good foaming and rinsing capabilities during application.
[0016] Furthermore, the composition according to the invention also delivers certain cosmetic effects brought about by organic acids, such as peeling effect / improvement of skin texture.
[0017] It can be used as a daily facial cleanser. The composition of the present invention is a rinse-off product. Thus, the composition is applied to the skin (ie, face and / or body) and then rinsed with rinse water.
[0018] Other objects and characteristics, aspects and advantages of the invention will appear even more clearly on reading the following description and examples.
