Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This invention relates to the technical field of foldable displays, and more particularly to a reinforcing support sheet for supporting a display panel. Background Technology
[0002] Currently, the emergence of foldable smartphones has revolutionized the traditional smartphone form factor. According to the disclosure of US Patent No. 9,274,560, a foldable smartphone has a foldable outer frame, and a display panel is disposed in a mounting area of the foldable outer frame via a support plate. Figure 1 This displays a side view of the foldable frame, support plate, and display panel disclosed in US Patent No. 9,274,560. (Example) Figure 1 As shown, the foldable back frame 10a includes: a substrate 13a, a first side plate 11a pivotally connected to one side of the substrate 13a, and a second side plate 12a pivotally connected to the other side of the substrate 13a. Furthermore, a support piece 14a is disposed on the foldable back frame 10a, and the display panel 15a is disposed on the support piece 14a. Practical experience shows that after repeatedly opening and closing the foldable smartphone, such as... Figure 1 The support sheet 14a and the display panel 15a (i.e., the OLED panel) shown will have obvious creases due to the accumulation of residual stress. In severe cases, the crease area of the display panel 15a will not be able to display normally. On the other hand, it will also cause fatigue cracks and breakage at the fold of the support sheet 14a.
[0003] In view of this, such as Figure 2 As shown, US Patent Publication No. US2022 / 0199922A1 discloses a buffer support sheet 14a, wherein N rows of mesh holes 141b are formed in a bending area of the buffer support sheet 14b, and the mesh size of the i-th row of mesh holes 141b is smaller than the mesh size of the (i+1)-th row of mesh holes 141b; N and i are both positive integers. Practical experience shows that the N rows of mesh holes 141b help to reduce or eliminate the stress applied to the bending area of the display panel 15a when opening and closing a foldable smartphone, so that there is no residual stress in the bending area of the display panel 15a, or the residual stress in the bending area is greatly eliminated. Unfortunately, after repeatedly opening and closing the foldable smartphone, a small portion of the connecting ribs between the mesh holes 141b may break, causing the buffer support sheet 14b to reduce its effectiveness in eliminating bending stress. In severe cases, the broken connecting ribs may even damage the display panel disposed on the buffer support sheet 14b.
[0004] In summary, the conventional support sheet 14a and buffer support sheet 14b used in foldable smartphones have obvious defects that need to be improved. In view of this, the inventors of the present invention have made great efforts to study and have finally developed a reinforced support sheet for supporting the display panel in a foldable display. [0087] To further understand the structure, features, purpose, and advantages of the present invention, a detailed description of the preferred embodiments is provided below, accompanied by accompanying drawings.
[0088] First Embodiment
[0089] Figure 3 This is a first schematic perspective view of a first embodiment of a reinforcing support sheet according to the present invention, and Figure 4 This is a second schematic perspective view of a first embodiment of the reinforcing support sheet of the present invention. Figure 3 As shown, the reinforcing support sheet 1 of the present invention is used to adhere to a display panel 2, wherein the display panel has N bending areas and is applied in a foldable display. In a first embodiment, the reinforcing support sheet 1 includes a substrate 10 and N pleated structures 11 formed on the substrate 10, wherein the substrate 10 is adhered to the display panel 2 by an adhesive layer 12, such that the N pleated structures 11 correspond to the N bending areas of the display panel 2. Furthermore, an optical protective sheet (e.g., a glass sheet) is further stacked on the top surface of the display panel 2. It should be understood that, as Figure 3As shown, N corresponds to the number of folds of a foldable display including the display panel 2. For example, the foldable display used in the Samsung Galaxy Z fold 4 has a foldable number of folds of 1, so N = 1. As another example, in Huawei's upcoming foldable display with a Z-shaped folding structure, the display panel 2 has two bending areas, making its foldable number of folds 2, therefore N = 2. This is easy to understand, as... Figure 4 As shown, when the reinforcing support sheet 1 of the present invention is applied to a foldable display with a Z-shaped folding structure, N=2 fold structures 11 are formed on the substrate 10.
[0090] Figure 5 , Figure 6 , Figure 7 They are respectively Figure 3 The diagram shows first, second, and third side views of the wrinkled structure 11. In a first embodiment, the wrinkled structure 11 includes a plurality of first protrusions 111 and a plurality of second protrusions 112. The plurality of first protrusions 111 are formed on a first surface of the substrate 10, and the plurality of second protrusions 112 are formed on a second surface of the substrate 10. The adhesive layer 12 is adhered between the second surface and the display panel 2. Furthermore, as shown... Figure 3 , Figure 5 , Figure 6 ,and Figure 7 As shown, the first protrusion 111 and the second protrusion 112 can be, but are not limited to, semi-circular protrusions, wavy protrusions, square protrusions, trapezoidal protrusions, or conical protrusions, wherein the conical protrusion can also be regarded as a triangular protrusion.
[0091] It should be further noted that the thickness of the substrate 10 is between 10 μm and 60 μm, and its manufacturing material is metal. For example, the manufacturing material may be, but is not limited to, copper alloy, aluminum alloy, titanium alloy, steel, medium-entropy alloy, or high-entropy alloy.
[0092] like Figure 5 , Figure 6 and Figure 7 As shown, in the first embodiment, a first recess 1111 is provided between any two first protrusions 111, and a second recess 1121 is provided between any two second protrusions 112; according to this design, when the reinforcing support sheet 1 is attached to the display panel 2, there is a first distance between the second protrusion 112 and the display panel 2, and the adhesive layer 12 has a plurality of adhesive protrusions correspondingly filling the plurality of second recesses 1121. On the other hand, Figure 5 , Figure 6 and Figure 7It is also shown that there is a second distance between a vertex of the first protrusion 111 and the second surface, and the second distance is between 10 μm and 200 μm.
[0093] To further clarify, such as Figure 5 As shown, the first recess 1111 can be a groove substantially recessed from the first surface of the substrate 10, and the second recess 1121 can also be a groove substantially recessed from the second surface of the substrate 10. Furthermore, as... Figure 6 and Figure 7 As shown, the first recess 1111 can be a recess formed by two first protrusions 111. Similarly, the second recess 1121 can also be a groove formed by two second protrusions 112.
[0094] Furthermore, Figure 8 This is a third schematic perspective view of a first embodiment of the reinforcing support sheet of the present invention. Furthermore, Figure 9 , Figure 10 , Figure 11 They are respectively Figure 8 The diagram shows the first, second, and third side sectional views of the pleated structure 11. In practical applications, such as... Figure 8 and Figure 9 As shown, multiple openings 111H can be formed on each of the first protrusions 111. Furthermore, as... Figure 8 , Figure 9 , Figure 10 ,and Figure 11 As shown, both the first protrusion 111 and the second protrusion 112 can be, but are not limited to, semi-circular protrusions, wavy protrusions, square protrusions, trapezoidal protrusions, or conical protrusions, wherein a conical protrusion can also be considered a triangular protrusion. It is worth noting that since the second recess 1121 corresponds to the first protrusion 111, when the plurality of adhesive protrusions of the adhesive layer 12 are respectively filled into the plurality of second recesses 1121, the head of the adhesive protrusion will penetrate (embed) the opening 111H. This design increases the adhesive strength between the adhesive layer 12 and the display panel 2, preventing the display panel 2 from detaching during bending.
[0095] In practical applications, multiple openings can be made on each of the second protrusions 112, so that after the multiple adhesive protrusions are filled into the multiple second recesses, the adhesive is further embedded in the multiple openings 11H of each of the second protrusions 112.
[0096] Second Embodiment
[0097] Figure 12This is a first schematic perspective view of a second embodiment of the reinforcing support sheet of the present invention. Figure 12 As shown, in the second embodiment, the reinforcing support sheet 1 of the present invention also includes a base 10 and N pleated structures 11 formed on the base 10. Further, Figure 13 , Figure 14 , Figure 15 They are respectively Figure 12 The diagram shows first, second, and third side views of the wrinkled structure 11. In the second embodiment, the wrinkled structure 11 includes a plurality of first protrusions 111 and a plurality of second protrusions 112. The plurality of first protrusions 111 are formed on a first surface of the substrate 10, and the plurality of second protrusions 112 are formed on a second surface of the substrate 10. The adhesive layer 12 is adhered between the second surface and the display panel 2. Furthermore, as shown... Figure 13 , Figure 14 ,and Figure 15 As shown, the first protrusion 111 and the second protrusion 112 can be, but are not limited to, semi-circular protrusions, wavy protrusions, square protrusions, trapezoidal protrusions, or conical protrusions, wherein the conical protrusion can also be regarded as a triangular protrusion.
[0098] More specifically, in the second embodiment, a first recess 1111 is provided between any two of the first protrusions 111, and a second recess 1121 is provided between any two of the second protrusions 112. According to this design, when the reinforcing support sheet 1 is adhered to the display panel 2, the protruding surfaces of the second protrusions (i.e., almost abut) the bottom surface of the display panel 2, and the adhesive layer 12 has a plurality of adhesive protrusions correspondingly filling the plurality of second recesses 1121. On the other hand, Figure 13 , Figure 14 and Figure 15 It is also shown that there is a second distance between a vertex of the first protrusion 111 and the second surface, and the second distance is between 10 μm and 200 μm.
[0099] Furthermore, Figure 16 This is a second schematic perspective view of a second embodiment of the reinforcing support sheet of the present invention. Furthermore, Figure 17 , Figure 18 , Figure 19 They are respectively Figure 16 The diagram shows the first, second, and third side sectional views of the pleated structure 11. In practical applications, such as... Figure 16 and Figure 17 As shown, multiple openings 111H can be formed on each of the first protrusions 111. Furthermore, as... Figure 16 , Figure 17 , Figure 18 ,and Figure 19As shown, both the first protrusion 111 and the second protrusion 112 can be, but are not limited to, semi-circular protrusions, wavy protrusions, square protrusions, trapezoidal protrusions, or conical protrusions, wherein a conical protrusion can also be considered a triangular protrusion.
[0100] Furthermore, in practical applications, multiple openings can be made on each of the second protrusions 112, so that after the multiple adhesive protrusions are filled into the multiple second recesses, the adhesive is further embedded in the multiple openings of each of the second protrusions 112.
[0101] Third Embodiment
[0102] Figure 20 This is a first schematic perspective view of a third embodiment of the reinforcing support sheet of the present invention. Figure 20 As shown, in the third embodiment, the reinforcing support sheet 1 of the present invention also includes a base 10 and N pleated structures 11 formed on the base 10. Further, Figure 21 , Figure 22 , Figure 23 They are respectively Figure 12 The diagram shows first, second, and third side views of the wrinkled structure 11. In the third embodiment, the reinforcing support sheet 1 of the present invention also includes a base 10 and N wrinkled structures 11 formed on the base 10. Notably, in the third embodiment, the wrinkled structure 11 is a symmetrical periodic structure, including a plurality of first protrusions 111 and a plurality of first recesses 1111, wherein the plurality of first protrusions 111 are formed on a first surface of the base 10. Similarly, a plurality of second protrusions 112 and a plurality of second recesses 1121 are formed on a second surface of the base 10, and the adhesive layer 12 is adhered between the second surface and the display panel 2.
[0103] like Figure 21 , Figure 22 , Figure 23As shown, the first protrusion 111 can be, but is not limited to, a semi-circular protrusion, a wavy protrusion, a square protrusion, a trapezoidal protrusion, or a conical protrusion, wherein the conical protrusion can also be considered as a triangular protrusion. More specifically, in the third embodiment, a first recess 1111 is provided between any two of the first protrusions 111; according to this design, when the reinforcing support sheet 1 is attached to the display panel 2, there is a distance between the second protrusion of the substrate 10 and the display panel 2, and the adhesive layer 12 has a plurality of adhesive protrusions correspondingly filling the plurality of second recesses 1121.
[0104] Furthermore, Figure 24 This is a third schematic perspective view of a second embodiment of the reinforcing support sheet of the present invention. Furthermore, Figure 25 , Figure 26 , Figure 27 They are respectively Figure 24 The diagram shows the first, second, and third side sectional views of the pleated structure 11. In practical applications, such as... Figure 24 and Figure 25 As shown, multiple openings 111H can be formed on each of the first protrusions 111. Furthermore, as... Figure 24 , Figure 25 , Figure 26 ,and Figure 27 As shown, both the first protrusion 111 and the second protrusion 112 can be, but are not limited to, semi-circular protrusions, wavy protrusions, square protrusions, trapezoidal protrusions, or conical protrusions, wherein a conical protrusion can also be considered a triangular protrusion.
[0105] Similarly, in practical applications, multiple openings can be made on each of the second protrusions 112, so that after the multiple adhesive protrusions are filled into the multiple second recesses 1121, the adhesive is further embedded in the multiple openings 112H of each of the second protrusions 112.
[0106] Figure 28 This is a first schematic top view of the reinforcing support sheet of the present invention, and Figure 29 This is a second schematic top view of the reinforcing support sheet of the present invention. When the reinforcing support sheet 1 of the present invention is actually applied, as... Figure 28As shown, at least two reinforcing pleated structures 13 can be further formed on the substrate 10, such that the pleated structure 11 is located between the two reinforcing pleated structures. With this design, the two sides of the substrate 10 can provide higher support for the display panel 2. Furthermore, in feasible embodiments, such as... Figure 29 As shown, a plurality of the reinforcing wrinkle structures 13 can be formed on one side of the substrate 10, and a plurality of the reinforcing wrinkle structures 13 are formed on one side of the substrate 10; simply put, the two sides of the substrate 10 are covered with the reinforcing wrinkle structures 13, so that the wrinkle structure 11 is surrounded by the plurality of reinforcing wrinkle structures 13.
[0107] Fourth embodiment
[0108] Figure 30 This is a schematic top view of a fourth embodiment of the reinforcing support sheet of the present invention.
