Description

[0001] The invention relates to a pipe coupling arrangement, comprising a first coupling element, referred to as the fixed part, which has a pipe socket and is designed to be mounted on a first component during use, and a second coupling element, referred to as the loose part, which also has a pipe socket and is designed to be mounted on a second component during use and which is selectively connectable to the fixed part, wherein the two coupling elements have cooperating holding elements such that the loose part is selectively held in a holding position on the fixed part and the two pipe sockets together form a section of a pipeline through which a medium flows during use.

[0002] Such a pipe coupling arrangement is known from DE 20 2022 102 865 U1. For example, installation elements in shaft structures can be connected to an inlet or outlet opening of the shaft using the pipe coupling arrangement, also known as a quick-connect coupling, if the inlet or outlet in question has a pipe socket that can interact with the pipe socket of the installation element.

[0003] Depending on the conditions prevailing in the shaft, for example, strong forces from a fluid flowing through the shaft can act on the installation element and load the quick coupling. As a result, a desired media-tight connection between the pipe sockets of the two coupling elements can be compromised and become leaky. Or a desired orientation in which the installation element is arranged within the shaft cannot be maintained, so that the installation element is forced into a different, undesirable orientation and, for example, fluid flows out of the installation element in an undesirable direction. Finally, the forces acting on the installation element can cause movement of the installation element, which can lead to damage or deformation of the coupling elements, making it difficult to operate the quick coupling.

[0004] The invention is based on the object of improving a generic pipe coupling assembly in such a way that it supports reliable fixation of the two coupling elements, and in particular of the two pipe sockets. Furthermore, the invention is based on the object of providing a shaft installation element that can be reliably fixed in a shaft and of providing an advantageous use of the pipe coupling assembly according to the invention.

[0005] Features of the invention are defined in claims 1, 10, and 15. Further embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims.

[0006] According to the invention, in addition to the features mentioned, the pipe coupling arrangement further comprises a guide device, with a first guide element, referred to as the fixed guide part, which is designed to be mounted on the first component at a distance from the holding elements during use, and with a second guide element, referred to as the loose guide part, which is designed to be mounted on the second component at a distance from the holding elements during use, wherein the two guide elements are designed to engage with one another in an upright direction of movement during use.

[0007] According to the invention, the loose part is therefore not fixed to the fixed part exclusively via the holding elements of the two coupling elements, so that these holding elements do not have to absorb the forces that tend to cause the two coupling elements to move relative to one another. Rather, the additional guide device fixes the loose part to the component on which the fixed part is arranged. This guide device is located at a distance from the holding elements, so that due to the distance, moments acting on the loose part, for example, can be kept to a minimum or avoided entirely, and the holding elements of the pipe coupling arrangement are correspondingly relieved. The guide device can therefore also be referred to as a moment support of the pipe coupling arrangement.A single guide device can be provided, but two or more guide devices can also be provided if necessary. Particularly if the guide device can be arranged at a short distance from the retaining elements, the desired effectiveness of the moment support can be ensured by a second or more guide devices, since the forces to be absorbed are distributed across the number of guide devices.

[0008] The pipe coupling assembly can be designed such that the loose part has a handling connection intended to create a selectively detachable connection with a handle that holds and guides the loose part. The handling connection enables handling of the loose part in difficult-to-access locations, e.g., at a location whose distance from an access opening is greater than a typical arm's length. The handling connection can be achieved using a suitable manipulator; for example, for applications in the sewer system, a manhole hook can be used as such a manipulator to insert an installation element into a sewer shaft.

[0009] In one embodiment, the pipe coupling assembly has a stop that limits the relative movement between the fixed part and the loose part transversely to the center axis of the pipe section. This stop supports the correct positioning of the two pipe sockets relative to each other so that they can jointly form a pipe section as desired. Such a connection is particularly advantageous when the two pipe sockets cannot be grasped directly by hand, but rather, for example, the loose part must be handled by a manipulator.

[0010] The pipe coupling arrangement can be designed such that one guide element of the guide device has an eyelet, and the other guide element has a pin that can be inserted into the eyelet. The eyelet serves to surround the pin in a ring shape during use. In this way, both coupling elements of the guide device are secured against undesirable, in particular undesirably large, displacements in all radial directions, relative to the longitudinal axis of the pin or the central axis of the eyelet. The eyelet also allows for a large tolerance with regard to the movements of the pin in its longitudinal direction, since the eyelet forms a through opening and the maximum possible longitudinal movement of the pin is only limited depending on its length. This can be done, for example, by:The assembly of the loose part is facilitated by guiding the pin into the eyelet or the eyelet onto the pin early on during the movement sequence required for assembly, thus achieving pre-positioning. The loose part can then be moved further, and the cooperating retaining elements can be brought into contact to finally secure the two coupling elements. Finally, the design of one guide element as an eyelet is advantageous compared to a recess defined by a base, because it prevents dirt from accumulating, allowing it to fall through the eyelet and downwards.

[0011] Such a pipe coupling arrangement can be designed such that the fixed guide part has the pin. The fixed guide part remains stationary on the first component, while the loose guide part moves together with the second component, which also has the coupling element referred to as the loose part, e.g., when this second component is removed from its installed position for maintenance and inspection purposes. It can then be easily inspected and / or cleaned. The pin is comparatively long, so that more dirt can potentially accumulate there than on the eyelet. So the removability of the pin for cleaning may be desired, i.e. the pin can be arranged on the loose part and form the loose guide part.Depending on the expected contamination, however, in one design, the pin forms the fixed guide part, as it is expected that fewer elongated, fibrous elements can accumulate and become tangled on it than on an eyelet. This design of the pipe coupling assembly is therefore particularly well suited for use in a sewer manhole structure, e.g., in sewers.

[0012] The pipe coupling arrangement can be designed such that the two coupling elements have cooperating sealing surfaces, such that the loose part rests against the fixed part in a media-tight manner in the holding position. In this way, an undesirable loss of the medium conveyed in the pipe can be avoided. The penetration of undesirable substances from outside into the pipeline can also be prevented or at least reduced, particularly if such substances are as permeable to the seal as, or even less permeable to, the medium conveyed in the pipeline.

[0013] The pipe coupling assembly can be designed such that the two guide elements have interacting contact surfaces with a non-circular contour, such that the two guide elements are secured against relative rotational movement. In this way, the second component, which comprises the loose part of the pipe coupling assembly, is not only fixed in place at a distance from the retaining elements of the quick coupling, but is also secured against rotational movement. If, for example, the second component has certain connection elements or inlet or outlet openings that are intended to maintain a specific orientation during use, this is ensured by preventing unintentional rotation of the second component.

[0014] The pipe coupling assembly can be designed such that the fixed guide part and the loose guide part of the guide device are each mounted at a height offset from the retaining elements during use. In many applications, a laterally offset arrangement of the guide device relative to the retaining elements is either more complicated to implement or impossible or difficult to achieve due to cramped installation conditions. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the moment support can be improved by using the longest possible lever arm, namely by maintaining the greatest possible distance from the retaining elements. The height-offset arrangement of the guide device offers the possibility of achieving such a lever arm, the largest possible. In addition, the pipe coupling arrangement according to the invention is particularly suitable for installation situations in which the available installation space is limited to the sides and in which the loose part is inserted into the fixed part in an upright direction of movement due to the height-offset arrangement of the guide device.

[0015] In some applications where the guide device is offset in height from the retaining elements, such as in a dosing element with an overflow pipe, the guide device can be arranged above the retaining elements. However, the pipe coupling arrangement can be designed such that the fixed guide part and the loose guide part of the guide device are each mounted at a distance below the retaining elements during use. By arranging them at a distance below the guide elements, a particularly large distance between the guide device and the retaining elements is possible in many applications, presumably in the majority of applications, thus achieving a particularly effective moment support. In the present description, the invention is therefore explained using the example of an arrangement of the guide device below the holding elements, but only for the sake of simplicity and also representative of other arrangement possibilities.

[0016] The invention also relates to a shaft installation element which, during use in a shaft structure, is designed to connect from the inside to a wall section, referred to as a contact point, of a tubular base body of the shaft structure, wherein the shaft installation element has the loose part of a pipe coupling arrangement according to the invention, which loose part is designed to cooperate during use with a fixed part arranged in the shaft structure, the pipe socket of which forms an inlet or outlet of the shaft structure, and wherein the shaft installation element has a guide element of the guide device which is designed to cooperate during use with the other guide element arranged stationary in the shaft structure.A shaft structure in which a shaft installation element according to the invention is arranged can be designed as a so-called shaft, with inlets and outlets that open laterally into a base body of the shaft structure, or it can be designed, for example, as a so-called street gully, with an inlet from above and an outlet that opens laterally into the base body. The base body of the shaft structure can typically be essentially cylindrical. By means of the loose guide part arranged on the shaft installation element according to the invention, the shaft installation element can be securely held in its desired orientation within the shaft structure even when strong forces act on the shaft installation element. This protects the components of the quick-action coupling from mechanical overload, e.g., the retaining elements.

[0017] The shaft installation element can be configured to support itself during use on the side opposite the contact point in the shaft structure in such a way that the shaft installation element is pressed against the contact point and held stationary in the shaft structure. This also helps to securely hold the shaft installation element in its desired orientation within the shaft structure and protects components of the quick coupling, such as the retaining elements, from mechanical overload.

[0018] The shaft installation element can be configured to extend downward from the contact point during use, and wherein the shaft installation element has a guide element of the guide device at a distance below the retaining elements during use. Depending on the design of the shaft installation element, it already has a considerable height, which extends downward from the retaining elements during use. This height can be used to arrange the guide device at a great distance from—and therefore below—the retaining elements, in order to achieve the longest possible lever arm of the moment support.

[0019] Such a shaft installation element can be designed as an internal drop, with a line section that, during use, extends from the contact point downwards to the guide device. Compared to other shaft installation elements such as filters, throttle caps or the like, an internal drop often extends over a particularly great height within the shaft structure, depending on its structural design. During use, forces caused by water currents, for example, can act on the shaft installation element, which, due to its height, can cause particularly large moments to act on the holding elements of the quick-action coupling. Fixing the internal drop at a distance below the holding elements, particularly near the lower end of the internal drop, relieves the load on the quick-action coupling and its holding elements.

[0020] Such a shaft installation element, as described above, can be designed such that the pipe section is configured as a hose. In contrast to using a rigid pipe as the pipe section of an internal drop, the weight of the internal drop can be kept as low as possible by using a hose, so that this shaft installation element is as easy to handle as possible when it is to be inserted into or removed from the shaft structure. Due to the flexibility of the hose, the pipe section could move uncontrollably within the shaft structure when subjected to external forces. However, due to the inventive design of the shaft installation element, the hose is secured against such uncontrolled movements by means of the guide device.

[0021] The pipe coupling assembly according to the invention and the shaft installation element according to the invention are particularly intended for use in sewage shafts where sewage pipes connect to the shaft structure. These are gravity pipes in which the wastewater flows without pressure. While pipe couplings known as quick-release couplings are known from the field of pressure pipes in which liquid media are under pressure, classic socket connections are common for gravity pipes. However, using a pipe coupling according to the invention in a sewage shaft is surprisingly advantageous:

[0022] Due to the potential for gases to form in the sewer network, as well as for hygiene reasons, strict occupational safety requirements are imposed when work is to be carried out in a sewer shaft. For example, if a person is to enter the sewer shaft, it is mandatory that this person be properly strapped to a so-called tripod, which is initially set up over the shaft opening, and secured by a second person. This allows the second person to rescue the first person in the shaft using a winch in an emergency. A ladder used for this purpose can be equipped with a special ladder safety device, and a gas detector can also be used.Including the assembly of the equipment components, the strapping in of the first person and later the dismantling of the equipment components after the work in the shaft has been carried out, a shaft entry in practice usually requires at least 1 hour and accordingly at least 2 person-hours.

[0023] The personnel and equipment requirements are therefore high, which not only results in high equipment and labor costs, but also ties up personnel, particularly in the form of a safety person, who is not involved in the actual work in the shaft. Using the pipe coupling arrangement according to the invention, work in the shaft can be carried out in such a way that a person remains outside the shaft above ground and that the pipe coupling can be operated using a handle such as a conventional and already existing shaft hook in order to remove a shaft installation element from the shaft and service it outside the shaft - e.g., to clean it. A safety person, a tripod, a ladder with ladder safety device, and even a gas detector are not required.

[0024] Finally, the invention also relates to the use of a pipe coupling arrangement according to the invention in a shaft structure, wherein the fixed part and the fixed guide part are intended to remain in the shaft structure, and a shaft installation element forms the loose part and has the loose guide part. In view of the height over which some shaft installation elements extend, the additional guidance of the shaft installation element at a distance below the quick-action coupling is advantageous, so that this area of application represents a particularly advantageous use of the basic proposal to design a pipe coupling arrangement according to the invention. Only a single guide device can be provided, but if necessary, two or more guide devices can also be provided. As explained above, the shaft structure can particularly advantageously be a sewage shaft.

[0025] In such a use, as mentioned above, it can be provided in particular that the shaft structure is a sewage shaft and a sewage pipe connecting to the shaft installation element is a gravity pipe.

[0026] Further features, details, and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the wording of the claims and from the following description of exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawings. They show: Fig. 1 a vertical section through a shaft structure and a first embodiment of a shaft installation element arranged therein, which is held in the shaft structure by means of a quick coupling and a guide device, wherein an area of the Fig. 1 is shown as an enlarged section, Fig. 2 is a plan view of a guide loose part of the guide device of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 a perspective view of a fixed guide part of the guide device of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 a vertical section through a shaft structure and a second embodiment of a shaft installation element arranged therein, which is held in the shaft structure by means of a quick coupling and a guide device, wherein two areas of the Fig. 4 are shown as enlarged sections.

[0027] Fig. 1 shows a shaft structure 1, wherein the illustrated embodiment has a substantially cylindrical base body 3 constructed from several segments 2, wherein the base body 3 can, however, also be designed monolithically, e.g. as a cast concrete part. At the bottom, the base body 3 has a closed base 4 formed by a base segment 5. Arranged in the base body 3 is a shaft installation element 6, which in the illustrated embodiment is designed as an internal drop. In its upper region, the shaft installation element 6 has a pipe socket 7, which forms the loose part of a quick-release coupling, and in its lower region, the shaft installation element 6 is fixed in place in the shaft structure 1 by means of a guide device 8 at a distance well below the quick-release coupling.

[0028] The pipe socket 7 of the shaft installation element 6 is designed as a pipe bend that is plugged onto a pipe socket 9, which is fixed to one of the upper segments 2 of the shaft structure 1. The shaft structure 1 or its base body 3 and in particular the segment 2 thus represents a first, stationary component of the coupling arrangement, while the shaft installation element 6 represents a second, movable component, so that the pipe socket 7 is part of the loose part and the pipe socket 9 is part of the fixed part of the quick coupling. The two pipe sockets 7 and 9 are held in their illustrated arrangement by several holding elements 10 distributed around their respective circumferences, as are known, for example, in a similar design from DE 20 2022 102 865 U1.

[0029] In the upper circumferential section of the two pipe sockets 7 and 9, the holding elements 10 have a pin-shaped stop 11 fixedly arranged in the pipe socket 9, which is engaged behind by a pivotable hook 12 formed from a flat sheet metal, wherein the hook 12 is attached to a pivot pin 13 and is pivotable together with it. The pivot pin 13, in turn, has a connection geometry which, as a handling connection, allows the attachment of a tool in order to pivot the pivot pin 13 about its longitudinal axis and thus also to move the hook 12. This handling connection is used in the embodiment of the Fig. 1 is created by bending the pivot pin 13 into an eyelet, allowing a tool such as a shaft hook to be inserted into the eyelet and then pivoting the pivot pin 13 using the shaft hook. The eyelet can also be used to grasp and lift the entire shaft installation element 6 so that it can be removed from the shaft structure 1 using the shaft hook.

[0030] The guide device 8 is shown in the lower, enlarged section of the Fig. 1: a fixed guide part 14 is fixedly attached to the lower segment 2 of the base body 3. It has a pin 15 that projects upwards from a base plate 16 and tapers towards its upper end.

[0031] Out of Fig. 3 it can be seen that the base plate 16 has holes 17 which can be used to fasten the fixed guide part 14 to the segment 2 if the base plate 16 is not to be glued to the segment 2 but is to be fastened to it, for example, by means of screws.

[0032] The guide device 8 further comprises a guide loose part 18, which is designed as a plate with two openings, as can be seen in particular from Fig. 2. A first opening is designated as eyelet 19 and serves to accommodate the pin 15 of the fixed guide part 14. Both the pin 15 and the eyelet 19 each have a cross-section that deviates from circular. This prevents the creation of a pivot bearing when the loose guide part 18 has been threaded sufficiently far onto the pin 15 so that the eyelet 19 cannot rotate about its tapered upper area.

[0033] A second opening 20 of the guide loose part 18 is circular and serves to fasten the guide loose part 18 to the shaft installation element 6, namely in its lower area. The shaft installation element 6 is designed as an internal drop and accordingly has a line section 21 running from top to bottom. The line section 21 is in the embodiment of the Fig. 1 is designed as a solid pipe. At its lower end, the line section 21 has a pipe bend 22, which forms a sleeve 23 and is designed as a commercially available standard component from a piping program. The sleeve 23 is therefore provided with a bead 24, which can be used to accommodate a sealing ring (not required here), and which creates an externally circumferential bead on the pipe bend 22. The pipe bend 22 is inserted into the opening 20 of the loose guide part 18, with the bead 24 forming a stop that limits the insertion movement. The loose guide part 18 is glued to the pipe bend 22.

[0034] Since the line section 21 is designed as a pipe with a rigid wall and cannot be twisted about its longitudinal axis under the forces occurring during operation, the orientation in which the lower outlet opening of the shaft installation element 6, formed by the pipe bend 22, projects into the interior of the shaft structure 1 is reliably maintained. And since the line section 21, as a rigid pipe, cannot be compressed in its longitudinal direction under the forces occurring during operation, the attachment of the shaft installation element 6 to the retaining elements 10 ensures that the lower end of the line section 21, namely the pipe bend 22, cannot protrude upwards out of the opening 20 of the loose guide part 18, even if it is not glued to the loose guide part 18.

[0035] Fig. 4 shows a second embodiment of a shaft structure 1 with a second embodiment of a shaft installation element 6, wherein these second embodiments are essentially similar to the first embodiments of the Fig. 1, so that the same reference numbers are used for comparable elements and only the differences between the various embodiments are explained below.

[0036] Above the floor 4, the floor segment 5 of the base body 3 in the embodiment of the Fig. 4 connection openings 25, to which pipe sections of a sewer line can be connected. In this embodiment, too, an internal drop forms the shaft installation element 6, although the line section 21 is not designed as a rigid pipe, but as a flexible hose. The lower end of the hose is fixed between the pipe bend 22 and an inner sleeve 26, as shown in the lower, magnified section of the Fig. 4, whereby the fixing can be achieved, for example, by clamping, ultrasonic welding or gluing.

[0037] The quick coupling is shown in the upper, magnifying glass-like enlarged section of the Fig. 4: The two pipe sockets 7 and 9 are held in their illustrated arrangement by the holding elements 10 arranged distributed around the circumference. Of the holding elements 10 arranged in the upper circumferential section of the two pipe sockets 7 and 9, the pin-shaped stop 11 fixed in the pipe socket 9, the hook 12 formed by a pivotable, flat sheet metal piece, and the pivot pin 13 are clearly visible due to the magnifying glass-like magnification. The pivot pin 13 has, in the embodiment of the Fig. 4 has a connection geometry whose handling connection is not created by a ring-shaped, closed eyelet, but by a transverse pin that extends transversely through the pivot pin 13. Like the eyelet of the Fig. 1, the cross pin can also be used to grasp and lift the entire shaft installation element 6 so that it can be removed from the shaft structure 1.

[0038] The design of the guide device 8 of this second embodiment is shown in the lower, magnifying glass-like enlarged section of the Fig. 4: the fixed guide part 14 is fixedly attached to the base segment 5 of the base body 3, for example, glued or screwed to the base segment 5. It is designed as an angled sheet metal plate and, with an upright section, forms the base plate 16. A horizontal section of the fixed guide part 14 is aligned horizontally and provided with the circular opening 20 into which the line section 21 extends.

[0039] The guide loose part 18 is in the embodiment of the Fig. 4 is formed by the pipe bend 22, in particular by its sleeve 23, and is inserted into the opening 20 of the fixed guide part 14. The opening 20 is so tightly toleranced that the pipe bend 22 quickly becomes wedged in the fixed guide part 14. Thus, under the forces acting on the pipe section 21 during operation, the pipe section 21 is securely held on the fixed guide part 14 even if the pipe bend 22 is not glued to the fixed guide part 14. This makes it possible to remove the shaft installation element 6 from the shaft structure 1 and, in doing so, to pull the lower end of the pipe section 21 out of the opening 20 of the fixed guide part 14.

[0040] The pipe bend 22 can alternatively and deviating from the illustrated embodiment of the Fig. 4, however, be glued to the fixed guide part 14. In this case, the pipe bend 22 cannot rotate within the opening 20, so that the orientation in which the lower outlet opening of the shaft installation element 6 formed by the pipe bend 22 protrudes into the interior of the shaft structure 1 is reliably maintained.

[0041] As a further alternative to the illustrated embodiment of the Fig.4, the pipe bend 22 can be glued to the fixed guide part 14, and the lower end of the hose can be provided with a pipe section that can be inserted into the socket 23 as a spigot end or optionally pulled out of it. By securing the pipe bend 22 to the fixed guide part 14, the desired alignment of the pipe bend 22 is ensured, and the detachable socket connection allows the shaft installation element 6 to be removed from the shaft structure 1, and the spigot end at the lower end of the hose to be pulled out of the socket 23. The socket connection can be re-established later when the shaft installation element 6 is reinserted into the shaft structure 1, e.g., after inspection or maintenance work.In this case, a sealing ring can be arranged in the bead 24, which ensures clamping forces that hold the spigot end in the socket 23 and counteract upward forces that tend to release the spigot end from the socket 23.

[0042] The invention is not limited to one of the above-described embodiments, but can be modified in a variety of ways. All features and advantages apparent from the claims, the description, and the drawings, including structural details, spatial arrangements, and method steps, may be essential to the invention both individually and in a wide variety of combinations.
