OPTICAL ELEMENT RETAINING RING AND MOLD

Abstract

An optical assembly includes a retaining ring configured to couple an optical element and a molding. The optical element may receive light from a light source and include an optical element coupler. The molding may surround the optical element and direct the light away from the light source. The molding may include a molding coupler. The retaining ring can be tool-free coupled to the optical element and the molding. The retaining ring may include an optical element retaining element configured to tool-free couple with the optical element coupler to couple the optical element to the retaining ring; and a molding retaining element spaced radially outward from the optical element retaining element. The molding retaining element can be tool-free coupled with the molding coupler to couple the molding to the retaining ring radially outward from the optical element.
