Abstract

The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a recycled ceramic or granite product from used ceramic or used granite without a heating or baking step. In this way, ceramics and granites obtained from demolition sites of construction works or infrastructural objects can be re-used. Collected waste ceramic or granite is ground to a sand and mixed with a cementitious binder, a form-retaining agent and water. The mixture is shaped in a mold and then allowed to harden, yielding the recycled product. Release from the mold may be performed well before the hardening is complete, because the form-retaining agent provides the necessary structural integrity so that the recycled product does not deform under its own weight. For example, release from the mold may occur after a few seconds, stacking the recycled product after a week, and applying the recycled product in a construction work after a month. The ‘cold baking’ makes the process and product of the invention attractive from an environmental as well as an economical point of vrew.
