AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The existing technology for separating toluene and alcohol azeotropes consumes a lot of energy, has a cumbersome process, requires the use of high-purity desorbents, and has complex equipment and high costs.

Method used

Ethyl column[5] aromatic hydrocarbon or ethyl column[6] aromatic hydrocarbon crystal material is brought into contact with azeotropic mixed vapor of toluene and alcohol at a temperature below 80°C, toluene is adsorbed by complexation, and toluene is removed by heating desorption, thereby achieving purity separation by utilizing multiple non-covalent bond interactions.

Benefits of technology

The 100% purity adsorption separation of toluene and alcohol azeotropes is achieved with simple operation, low equipment requirements, low energy consumption, and reduced separation costs.

Abstract

The present invention discloses a method for separating an azeotrope of toluene and alcohol, comprising: placing an ethyl column[5] aromatic hydrocarbon or an ethyl column[6] aromatic hydrocarbon crystal material in an azeotropic mixed vapor of toluene and alcohol at a temperature below 80° C., wherein the ethyl column[5] aromatic hydrocarbon or the ethyl column[6] aromatic hydrocarbon adsorbs toluene in the mixed vapor by complexation; and removing the toluene adsorbed and complexed on the crystal material by heating and desorption. The method solves the problems of existing technologies for separating the azeotrope of toluene and alcohol, such as high energy consumption, complicated process, and the need for use of a high-purity desorbent.
