Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention relates to a closure device comprising a base for attachment to a container, a lid and a hinge device connecting the lid to the base.

[0002] The present invention relates in particular to a closure device wherein the base is a lower ring for retention on a neck of a container and wherein the base comprises a pouring element for fixation on the neck of the container. BACKGROUND

[0003] In the prior art, some closure devices are known which comprise a base for fixation to a neck of a container and a lid hinged on the base by a hinge device. The lid comprises an upper wall and a peripheral skirt extending downwardly from the outer periphery of the upper wall.

[0004] The hinge device enables the lid to move between a closed position in which the top wall of the lid closes an aperture of the container or of the pouring element and an open tilted position in which the lid is disengaged from said aperture. The hinge device comprises one or more hinge-forming lamellas which contact the lid with the base. In order to allow the lamellas to be long enough to allow the lid to move between the closed position and the open tilted position, the peripheral skirt of the lid comprises several recessed portions and the lamellas each converge with the peripheral skirt of the lid at the level of the upper edge of one of these recessed portions, so that the lamellas extend above the bottom edge of the peripheral skirt of the lid.

[0005] Such closure devices are for example described in documents EP1406820, US2018086510, WO20193821 or EP3722223.

[0006] Closure devices of this type are generally made from a polymeric material by a molding process. In each of the portions for implementing the recessed portions housing the lamellas, the mold comprises two sheet-like pieces which are located on each side of each lamella to be molded between the lamella and the peripheral skirt. The sheet-like pieces generally have a relatively large thickness, generally of the order of 0.3 to 1.5 mm, to give them sufficient strength.

[0007] In this way, the recessed portions form a gap on each side of each lamella, the gap having a large width generally greater than 0.5 mm. However, these voids are susceptible to being affected by unwanted particles, dust or living organisms of the body. Thus, closure devices of this type are not entirely satisfactory. SUMMARY

[0008] One idea on which the present invention is based is to propose a closure device of the above-mentioned type in which the hygiene and safety are improved.

[0009] According to an embodiment, the application provides a closure device comprising:

[0010] - a base intended to be fixed to a container;

[0011] - a lid comprising an upper wall and a peripheral skirt, the lid being adapted and intended to be arranged in a closed position in which the upper wall covers the aperture; and

[0012] - a hinging device connecting the lid to the base, the hinging device comprising at least one first lamella connecting the peripheral skirt of the lid to the base, the peripheral skirt presenting a first recessed portion comprising an upper edge extending above a lower edge of the peripheral skirt and a first lateral edge connecting the upper edge of the first recessed portion to the lower edge of the peripheral skirt, the first lamella being attached to the upper edge of the first recessed portion, the lid further comprising at least one first intrusion-preventing cover having a thickness that is less than the thickness of the peripheral skirt, the first intrusion-preventing cover extending within the first recessed portion from the upper edge of the first recessed portion and from the first lateral edge of the first recessed portion.

[0013] In this way, the intrusion-preventing cover is allowed to prevent external objects from being housed in at least one area of the recessed portion, improving the hygiene and safety of the closure device.

[0014] Moreover, since the thickness of the intrusion-preventing cover is less than the thickness of the peripheral skirt, the functional features of the hinge are hardly or not at all degraded.

[0015] According to other advantageous embodiments, a closure device of this type can have one or more of the following features.

[0016] According to an embodiment, the thickness of the first intrusion-preventing cover is between 0.05 and 0.5 mm.

[0017] According to an embodiment, the first intrusion-preventing cover comprises a lower free edge extending within an extension of the lower edge of the peripheral skirt.

[0018] According to an embodiment, the first intrusion-preventing cover comprises a lateral free edge extending parallel to the lateral edge of the first lamella.

[0019] According to an embodiment, the lateral free edge of the first intrusion-preventing cover is separated from the adjacent lateral edge of the first lamella by a gap having a width of between 0.01 and 0.4 mm. In this way, the gap is narrow enough to prevent most external objects from lodging there, while being large enough not to create a risk of interfering with the function of the lamella and compatible with the constraints of the molding process.

[0020] According to another embodiment, the first intrusion-preventing cover additionally extends from the lateral edge of the first lamella. Thus, there is no gap between the first intrusion-preventing cover and the adjacent lamella.

[0021] According to an embodiment, the first recessed portion comprises a second side edge connecting the upper edge of the first recessed portion to the lower edge of the peripheral skirt, the first and second side edges of the first recessed portion being arranged on respective sides of the first wafer, the lid further comprising a second intrusion prevention cover having a thickness smaller than the thickness of the peripheral skirt and extending within the first recessed portion from the upper edge of the first recessed portion and from the second side edge of the first recessed portion.

[0022] According to an embodiment, the hinge device comprises a second wafer connecting the peripheral skirt of the lid to the base, the peripheral skirt presenting a second recessed portion comprising an upper edge extending above a lower edge of the peripheral skirt and a first side edge connecting the upper edge of the second recessed portion to the lower edge of the peripheral skirt, the second wafer being attached to the upper edge of the second recessed portion. The lid further comprises at least one first intrusion prevention cover for each of the first and second recessed portions, the first intrusion prevention cover having a thickness smaller than the thickness of the peripheral skirt and extending within the first or second recessed portion from the upper edge and the first side edge of the first or second recessed portion.

[0023] According to an embodiment, the base comprises a bottom ring intended to be held at the neck of the container.

[0024] According to an embodiment, the base comprises a pouring element intended to be integral with the neck of the container.

[0025] According to an embodiment, the closure device is made of a polymeric material by a molding process.

[0026] According to an embodiment, the closure device is molded in a single piece.

[0027] According to an embodiment, the application also provides a container equipped with a neck comprising an orifice and the above-mentioned closure device, the base of the closure device being fixed to the container.

[0028] The application notably relates to a closure device made of a polymeric material and obtained by an injection molding process. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

[0035] [ Figure 6 ] Figure 6 a capping device according to a second embodiment is shown.

[0036] [ Figure 7 ] Figure 7 is a cross-sectional view of the capping device of Figure 6 . DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0037] In the description and in the drawings, the X axis corresponds to the central axis of the capping device, which will be positioned orthogonally to the plane of the orifice to be sealed when the capping device is in the closed position. Thus, when the capping device is screwed on the neck of the container, the X axis corresponds to the axis of rotation of the cover of the capping device. By convention, the "radial" orientation is perpendicular to the X axis, while the axial orientation is parallel to the X axis. The terms "external" and "internal" are used to define the relative position of an element with respect to another element, with reference to the X axis, the element close to the X axis being thus described as internal, as opposed to the external element located radially at the periphery. The terms "upper" and "lower" are used to define the relative position of one element with respect to another element by reference to the position of the neck orifice pointing upwards and the cover in the closed position.

[0038] With regard to Figure 1 and Figures 3 to 5 , the capping device 1 according to a first embodiment is described below. The capping device 1 is intended to be fixed to a container 2 equipped with a neck 3, as shown in particular in Figure 2 .

[0039] The closure device 1 is molded in a single piece of synthetic material, such as polyethylene and advantageously high-density polyethylene. Advantageously, the closure device 1 is molded in Figure 1 the configuration shown, i.e. in the closed position, in which the closure device 1 can be directly mounted on the neck 3 of the container 2.

[0040] As shown in Figure 2 , the neck 3 of the container 2 comprises an upper end in which the aperture 4 can allow the contents of the container 2 to be poured. The neck 3 of the container 2 comprises a support ring 5 projecting radially outwards and a coupling ring 6 also projecting radially outwards and axially arranged between the support ring 5 and the aperture 4. In the embodiment shown, the neck 3 also comprises a helical thread 7 axially positioned between the coupling ring 6 and the aperture 4, for cooperation with a helical thread formed on the lid 8 of the closure device 1.

[0041] The closure device 1 comprises a base 9 for fixing to the neck 3 of the container 2, a lid 8 for covering the aperture 4 of the container 2 for sealing, and a hinging device which couples the lid 8 to the base 9.

[0042] As shown, in particular in Figure 1 , the lid 8 comprises an upper wall 10 for being arranged in front of the aperture 4 of the neck 3 substantially perpendicularly to the X axis when said lid 8 is in the closed position. The lid 8 also comprises a peripheral skirt 11 extending perpendicularly to the upper wall 10 downwards from the outer periphery of said upper wall 10. In Figure 1 and Figures 2 to 5 the embodiment shown, the peripheral skirt 11 is for surrounding the neck 3 of the container 2 when the lid 8 is in the closed position. The peripheral skirt 11 also comprises a helical thread 12 which can be implemented on its inner surface.

[0043] As shown, in particular in Figure 4 , the lid 8 comprises an inner skirt 13 extending perpendicularly downwards from the upper wall 10 of the lid 8 and which is dimensioned to be inserted inside the aperture 4 of the neck 3. The lid 8 also comprises an annular lip 14 extending radially from the upper wall 10 between the inner skirt 13 and the peripheral skirt 11. The inner skirt 13 and the annular lip 14 are dimensioned so that, when the lid 8 is in the closed position, the inner skirt 13 is in contact with the inner surface of the neck 3 and the annular lip 14 is in contact with the outer surface of the neck 3 on the neck 3 of the container 2. In this way, the inner skirt 13 and the annular lip 14 ensure the tightness of the seal.

[0044] In this first embodiment, the base 9 is constituted by a lower ring 15 held on the neck 3 of the container 2. The lower ring 15 is held axially on the neck 3 of the container 2 and can at the same time be rotated relative to it about the X axis. As Figure 3As shown in Fig. 1, the lower ring 15 comprises two parts hinged to each other, namely a first part 16 and a second part 17, through which the lower ring 15 is attached to the cap 8 by means of a hinging device. The second part 17 is adapted to turn upwards with respect to the first part 16 between a lowered position, in which the second part 17 is intended to be arranged below the coupling ring 6, and a raised position, in which the second part 17 is at least partially arranged above the coupling ring 6. This allows the cap 8 to be moved upwards with respect to the neck 3 of the container 2 until the helical thread 12 of the cap 8 is disengaged from the helical thread 7 on the neck 3 of the container 2. In other words, when the cap 8 is unscrewed, the lower ring 15 is rotationally dragged around the X axis, while the second part 17 of the lower ring 15 turns with respect to the first part 16 into the raised position, so as to move the cap 8 axially upwards from the closed position to the Figure 3 the release position shown in Fig. 1. When the cap 8 is turned from the release position towards the open tilted position, as shown in Fig. 2, the second part 17 of the lower ring 15 turns with respect to the first part 16 in the opposite direction, then finding again the lowered position. On the other hand, when the cap 8 is turned from the open tilted position towards the release position, the second part 17 turns with respect to the first part 16 in the lowered position towards the raised position, as shown in Fig. 1. Figure 4

[0045] The lower ring 15 is axially retained above the neck 3 of the container 2 by means of the coupling ring 6. As shown in Fig. 1, the coupling ring 6 has a conically tapered outer surface which narrows upwards, i.e. in the direction of the orifice 4 of the container 2. The coupling ring 6 defines a shoulder downwards, i.e. in the direction away from the orifice 4. Figure 2

[0046] As shown in Fig. 1, the first part 16 of the lower ring 15 comprises some engagement elements 18 which cooperate with the coupling ring 6 on the container 2 in order to axially retain the lower ring 15 at the neck 3 of the container 2. The engagement elements 18 are protrusions which protrude radially inwards from the first part 16 of the lower ring 15. During the assembly of the closure device 1 on the neck 3 of the container 2, the engagement elements 18 slide against the circular surface of the coupling ring 6, then they are locked by elastic return behind the coupling ring 6. Figure 1

[0047] Advantageously, before the first opening of the container 2, the lower ring 15 is connected to the cap 8 by means of several frangible bridges, not visible in the figures, which are intended to break during the opening of the cap 8. These bridges are therefore an inviolable indicator.

[0048] The hinging device allows the cap 8 to move between Figure 3 the release position shown in Fig. 1, in which the cap 8 is no longer engaged with the neck 3, and Figure 4 the open tilted position shown in Fig. 2, in which the cap 8 is separated from the orifice 4 of the neck 3, so as not to hinder the pouring of the contents of the container 2.

[0049] With regard to Figure 5 The hinging device is described below. The hinging device comprises two lamellas 19, 20 connecting the lid 8 to the lower ring 15, more particularly the peripheral skirt 11 to the lower ring 15, more particularly the peripheral skirt 11 to the second portion 17 of the lower ring 15.

[0050] The peripheral skirt 11 comprises two recessed portions 21, 22. Each of the recessed portions 21, 22 is delimited by an upper edge 23 extending circumferentially around the X axis at a distance from the lower edge 24 of the peripheral skirt 11, and by two side edges 25, 26 extending respectively from one and the other of the two ends of the upper edge 23 and converging towards the lower edge 24 of the peripheral skirt 11. The lamellas 19, 20 converge respectively with the upper edge 23 of one of the recessed portions 21, 22. Likewise, the lower ring 15 also comprises two recessed portions 27, 28, and the lamellas 19, 20 converge with the lower ring 15 inside the recessed portions 27, 28. Thus, the upper ends of the lamellas 19, 20 are located above the lower edge 24 of the peripheral skirt 11, while the lower ends of the lamellas 19, 20 are located below the upper edge of the lower ring 15. This arrangement gives the lamellas 19, 20 sufficient length to allow the lid 8 to be tilted towards its open tilted position, while limiting the size of the circumferential gap that can be achieved between the lid 8 and the lower ring 15.

[0051] On the other hand, the lid 8 comprises two intrusion shields 29, 30 respectively extending on each side of one of the lamellas 19, 20, inside each of the recessed portions 21, 22, so as to at least partially cover said recessed portions 21, 22. This type of intrusion shield 29, 30 thus allows to prevent external objects, such as particles, dust or unwanted living organisms, for example insects or larvae, from lodging in the recessed portions 21, 22. In this way, they ensure the hygiene and safety of the closure device 1.

[0052] Each intrusion shield 29, 30 is attached to the upper edge 23 and to one of the side edges 25, 26 of one of the recessed portions 21, 22. Each intrusion shield 29, 30 also comprises a converging side free edge 31 and a lower free edge 32. The lower free edge 32 extends from the lower end of one of the side edges 25, 26 in the extension of the lower edge 24 of the peripheral skirt 11. The side free edge 31 extends parallel to the adjacent lamella 19, 20. The side free edge 31 is separated from the lamella 19, 20 by a gap of a width of between 0.01 and 0.4 mm. In this way, the gap has a width that is sufficiently small to prevent most external objects from being contained therein, while being sufficiently large not to risk interfering with the function of the lamella 19, 20 and compatible with the constraints of the moulding process.

[0053] It is particularly advantageous for the thickness of the intrusion-preventing cover 29, 30 to be less than the thickness of the peripheral skirt 11. Indeed, the thinner the thickness of the intrusion-preventing cover 29, 30, the less the constraints imposed on the lamellas of the mold during the molding process, the lamellas of the mold being designed to be able to form a gap between one of the intrusion-preventing covers 29, 30 and the adjacent lamella 19, 20. Considering the smaller constraints imposed on these lamellas, they can have a smaller thickness, and therefore this allows the width of the gap between the intrusion-preventing cover 29, 30 and the lamella 19, 20 to be reduced. Thus, the intrusion-preventing cover 29, 30 advantageously has a thickness of between 0.05 and 0.5 mm.

[0054] On the other hand, as an example, in the illustrated embodiment, the locking device comprises a heel 32, visible in particular in Figure 1 、 Figure 3 and 5 , the heel 32 being able to be implemented in the peripheral skirt 11 of the lid 8. The heel 32 is arranged between the recessed portions 21, 22. The lower end of the heel is advantageously positioned at the same height as the lower end of the peripheral skirt 11. The heel 32 comprises a stop 33 which extends circumferentially around the X axis and which projects radially outward from the heel 32.

[0055] During the movement of the lid 8 from the release position to the open tilted position, the stop 33 abuts against the upper end of the second portion 17 of the lower ring 15, which tends to return the second portion 17 to the lowered position. Furthermore, when the second portion 17 of the lower ring 15 is in the lowered position and the lid 8 is in its open tilted position, the stop 33 is supported against the coupling ring 6. In this way, the lid 8 remains in its open tilted position, since this support against the coupling ring 6 due to the abutment of the stop 33 prevents the lid 8 from being able to rotate to the release position in which the lid 8 is in front of the aperture 4, as long as the second portion 17 of the lower ring 15 remains in the lowered position.

[0056] Note that the locking device described above is described by way of example only, and that the locking device 1 can be equipped with another type of locking device, or very simply not equipped with a locking device, without leaving the framework of the invention as defined by the claims.

[0057] Likewise, if the above-mentioned capping device 1 comprises a lid 8 adapted to be screwed on the neck 3 of the container 2, the present invention is equally applicable to a lid intended to be pressed on the neck 3 of the container 2, such as described in the documents EP1406820 and US2018086510.

[0058] Figure 6 and Figure 7 A capping device 101 according to a second embodiment is shown. Elements that are identical or similar to those in Figures 1 to 5 , that is to say, those that perform the same functions, are denoted using the same reference numbers increased by 100.

[0059] The closure device 101 comprises a pouring element 134, in Figure 7 It can be seen that the pouring element 134 is intended to be integral with the neck 3 of the container 2. The pouring element 134 comprises an annular skirt 135 intended to surround the neck 3 of the container 2 and to be fixed there. To this end, the annular skirt 135 comprises a number of engagement elements 136 intended to cooperate with the coupling ring 6 projecting radially from the neck 3 of the container 2. The pouring element 134 also comprises an inner skirt 136 the dimensions of which are adapted to be inserted into the orifice 4 of the neck 3 and are configured to ensure the sealing between the pouring element 134 and the orifice 4 of the container 2. The pouring element 134 also comprises a pouring spout 137 fitted with an orifice 138 allowing the pouring of the contents of the container 2.

[0060] The pouring element 134 also comprises an annular groove 139 which can be on the outside of the annular skirt 135. The closure device 101 comprises a lower ring 115 intended to be fixed inside the annular groove 139 of the pouring element 134 by means of snap-fastening means 140, as shown in Figure 7 The pouring element 134 and the lower ring 115 together form a base 109 intended to be attached to the neck 3 of the container 2.

[0061] The closure device 101 also comprises a lid 108 intended to cover the orifice of the pouring element 134 to seal it and hinging means connecting the lid 108 to the base 9, more particularly to the lower ring 115.

[0062] The lid 108 comprises an upper wall 110 intended to be arranged substantially perpendicular to the X axis in front of the orifice of the pouring element 134 when the lid 108 is in the closed position. The lid 108 also comprises a peripheral skirt 111 extending downward from the periphery of said upper wall 110. The peripheral skirt 111 is intended to surround the pouring element 134 when the lid 108 is in the closed position.

[0063] As shown in Figure 7 The lid 108 comprises an internal annular lip 141 extending vertically downward from the upper wall 110 of the lid 108 and the dimensions of which are adapted to be inserted inside the orifice 138 of the pouring element 134, and an external annular lip 142 extending downward from the upper wall and arranged radially between the internal annular lip 141 and the peripheral skirt 111. The external annular lip 142 and the internal annular lip 141 are dimensioned so that, when the lid 108 is in the closed position, the internal annular lip 141 is in contact with the inner surface of the pouring spout 137 and the external annular lip 142 is in contact with the outer surface of the pouring spout 137, which allows the sealing between the lid 108 and the pouring spout 137 to be ensured.

[0064] As in the previous embodiments, the closure device 101 comprises a locking device, not shown, arranged to lock the lid 108 in the open tilted position. In the illustrated embodiment, the locking device comprises a heel 132 on the outer peripheral skirt 111 of the lid 108. The heel 135 is arranged between the two recessed portions 121, 122 on the outer peripheral skirt 111. The lower end of the heel 132 is located below the lower edge 124 of the outer peripheral skirt 111. The heel 132 comprises a stop 133 extending circumferentially around the X axis and projecting radially outwardly from the heel 132. The stop 133 is configured to abut against the pouring element 134, more particularly the coupling ring 143 of the pouring element 134, to lock the lid 108 in the open tilted position when the lid 108 is in this position.

[0065] The hinge device is illustrated in Figure 6 As in the previous embodiments, the hinge device comprises two lamellas 119, 120 connecting the outer peripheral skirt 111 of the lid 108 to the lower ring 115. In addition, the outer peripheral skirt 111 comprises two recessed portions 121, 122. Each recessed portion 121, 122 is defined by an upper edge 123 and two side edges 125, 126 extending from one end and the other end of the upper edge 123, respectively, and converging with the lower edge 124 of the outer peripheral skirt 111 and the lower edge of the heel 132, respectively. In this embodiment, the upper edge 123 does not extend horizontally as in the previous embodiments, but is tilted and descending with respect to the horizontal direction to converge with the heel 132. The end of the upper edge 123 of the recessed portions 121, 122 converging with the heel 132 is arranged at substantially the same height as the lower edge 124 of the outer peripheral skirt 111, outside the area of the heel 132.

[0066] The lid 108 comprises an intrusion shield 129 extending within each recessed portion 121, 122 so as to cover the area thereof to prevent the entry of external objects therein. Each intrusion shield 129 is arranged outside the area of the heel 132, with respect to the lamellas 119, 120 on the opposite sides of the heel 132, i.e. in the area of the recessed portion 121 located above the lower edge 124 of the outer peripheral skirt 111. It is noted that in this embodiment, the area of each recessed portion 121, 122 located between the lamellas 119, 120 and the heel 132 does not extend above the lower edge 124 of the outer peripheral skirt 111, and therefore does not require the intrusion shield 129 to be arranged in this area.

[0067] Each intrusion shield 129 is attached to the upper edge 123 of the recessed portions 121, 122, to the lamellas 119, 120 and to the side edges 125 of the recessed portions 121, 122 opposite the heel 132. The intrusion shield 129 comprises a lower free edge 132 extending into the extension of the lower edge 124 of the peripheral skirt 111. On the other hand, it is noted that in this embodiment, the intrusion shield 129 is also attached to one of the lamellas 119, 120, so that there is no gap between the lamellas 119, 120 and the intrusion shield 129, as in the previous embodiments. Furthermore, the intrusion shield 129 advantageously has a thickness which is less than the thickness of the lamellas 119, 120 and of the peripheral skirt 111, so as to affect the joining operation as little as possible. The thickness of the intrusion shield 129 is for example between 0.05 and 0.5 mm.

[0068] Although the application has been described in relation to various particular embodiments, it will be evident that the application is in no way limited to these, and that it includes all technical equivalents of the devices described, as well as their combinations, if they fall within the framework of the application defined by the claims.

[0069] The use of the verb "to comprise", "to include" or "to consist of" and their conjugations does not exclude the presence of other elements or other stages than those recited in the claims.

[0070] In the claims, any reference signs placed between two consecutive parentheses should not be construed as limiting the claim.
