[0068] In this article, each direction is not limited to rectangular coordinates (such as three axes of X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis), and can be interpreted in a broader sense. For example, the X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis may be perpendicular to each other, or may represent different directions that are not perpendicular to each other. For the convenience of explanation, hereinafter, the X-axis direction is the length direction, the Y-axis direction is the width direction, and the Z-axis direction is the thickness direction. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the Z-axis direction is the normal direction of the substrate. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a top view schematic diagram refers to a schematic diagram for observing the XY plane. In some embodiments, the first direction D1, the second direction D2, and the third direction D3 may be directions located on the XY plane. In some embodiments, the dimensions in different directions can be measured by optical images (such as scanning electron microscope (SEM) images).
[0069] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, the electronic device may include a display device, a backlight device, an antenna device, a sensing device, or a splicing device, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The electronic device may be a bendable or flexible electronic device. The display device may be a non-self-luminous display device or a self-luminous display device. The antenna device may be a liquid crystal antenna device or a non-liquid crystal antenna device, and the sensing device may be a sensing device for sensing capacitance, light, heat, or ultrasound, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The electronic components may include passive components and active components, such as capacitors, resistors, inductors, diodes, transistors, etc. The diode may include a light emitting diode (LED) or a photodiode (PD). The light emitting diode may, for example, include an organic light emitting diode (OLED), a sub-millimeter light emitting diode (mini light emitting diode), a micro light emitting diode (μLED), or a quantum dot light emitting diode (quantum dot light emitting diode), but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The splicing device may be, for example, a display splicing device or an antenna splicing device, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. It should be noted that the electronic device may be any arrangement or combination of the aforementioned, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The following will use a display device as an electronic device or a splicing device to illustrate the content of the present invention, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0070] In addition, the appearance of the electronic device may be rectangular, circular, polygonal, with curved edges, or other suitable shapes. The electronic device may have peripheral systems such as a processing system, a drive system, a control system, a light source system, a shelf system, etc. to support the display device or the splicing device. It should be noted that the electronic device may be any combination of the foregoing, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0071] Figure 1 1 is a cross-sectional schematic diagram of an electronic device 10 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the sake of clarity, Figure 1 Only some components are shown for illustrative purposes, and other components of the display device are omitted. In some embodiments, additional components may be added to the electronic device 10 described below. In some embodiments, some components of the electronic device 10 described below may be replaced or omitted. In some embodiments, additional operating steps may be provided before, between, and / or after the method of forming the electronic device 10. In some embodiments, some of the operating steps described may be replaced or omitted, and the order of some of the operating steps described may be interchangeable.
[0072] For non-self-luminous electronic devices, a backlight module is required to propagate the light toward the upper panel. In contrast, for self-luminous electronic devices, the light emitted by the light-emitting panel can be propagated toward the protective substrate above. The light emitted by the backlight module or the light-emitting panel can be measured to obtain a light pattern. In the example of an electronic device (such as a car dashboard), when the viewing angle of the light pattern needs to be limited for safety reasons, a viewing angle control element can be added to reduce the brightness of the upper and / or lower part of the light pattern. The viewing angle control element includes, for example, a grating structure or other suitable structure, and the grating structure can be used as a baffle structure to absorb excess light. Therefore, the viewing angle control element can also be called a privacy filter.
[0073] The electronic device of the disclosed embodiment has a special light modulation element design and matching with other components. When the light modulation element is designed to have an asymmetric prism structure, the propagation path of light can be adjusted to any desired direction, for example. From the cross-sectional schematic diagram, the prism structure can be, for example, a triangle, which has base angles on two opposite sides and a vertex angle on the top. When the prism structure is asymmetric, the base angles on both sides are different from each other. When light propagates through the light modulation element, since the smaller base angle has a longer hypotenuse, a larger amount of light will be directed to, for example, the hypotenuse of the smaller base angle, thereby achieving a change or adjustment in the direction of light propagation. In other words, by designing different base angles and vertex angles of the prism structure, the light pattern can be offset in the expected direction. The inclination angle of the light pattern (or cono pattern) can be defined as the angle intersecting with the normal direction of the user's field of view. In some embodiments, in addition to using the viewing angle control component to narrow the brightness range of the light pattern, the position of the maximum brightness of the light pattern can be further adjusted by adding a light modulation component, for example, to a tilt angle between 5° and 40° (5°≦tilt angle≦40°) as required. In some embodiments, the position of the maximum brightness of the light pattern is adjusted to a tilt angle between 10° and 60° (10°≦tilt angle≦60°) as required. In some embodiments, the top angle of the prism structure can be, for example, a slightly curved angle (not shown).
[0074] In some embodiments, the electronic device 10 may include a backlight module 200, a viewing angle control component 300, a light modulation component 400 and / or a panel 500, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. In some embodiments, the backlight module 200 may include a light source 100, a reflector 210, a light guide plate (LGP) 220, an optical component 230 (e.g., a diffusion film), an optical component 240 (e.g., a brightness enhancement film (BEF)), an optical component 250 (e.g., a brightness enhancement film), and an optical component 260 (e.g., a dual brightness enhancement film (DBEF)).
[0075] In some embodiments, the viewing angle control component 300 may be, for example, disposed between the backlight module 200 and the panel 500. The viewing angle control component 300 may, for example, include a substrate 340, a plurality of retaining wall structures 350, and a filling material 360. The plurality of retaining wall structures 350 are, for example, disposed on the substrate 340 and separated from each other, and the filling material 360 is, for example, disposed between the plurality of retaining wall structures 350, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The pitch or shape between the plurality of retaining wall structures 350 may be modulated as required. In other embodiments, in the normal direction of the substrate 340, the thickness of the filling material 360 may, for example, be different from the thickness of the retaining wall structure 350 (not shown).
[0076] In some embodiments, the light modulation component 400 may be disposed between the panel 500 and the viewing angle control component 300. The light modulation component 400 may include a substrate 420 and a plurality of prism structures 440. The plurality of prism structures 440 may be disposed on a surface of the substrate 420, for example.
[0077] Reference Figure 1 , the light source 100 of the backlight module 200 may be arranged close to the light guide plate 220. In some embodiments, the light source 100 may be an edge-type backlight unit, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. For example, the light source 100 may also be a direct-type backlight unit. In some embodiments, the light source 100 may include quantum dot (QD) materials, fluorescence materials, phosphor (phosphor) materials, light-emitting diodes, micro light-emitting diodes, other suitable materials, or combinations thereof, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0078] Continue to refer to Figure 1 , the reflective sheet 210 of the backlight module 200 may be located below the light guide plate 220. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the reflective sheet 210 may reflect light emitted downward from the light guide plate 220 upward to the light guide plate 220 to improve the utilization of light.
[0079] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the light guide plate 220 may selectively include dots to guide the light from the side light source 100 to emit upward. When the light source 100 is a direct-type backlight unit, the light guide plate 220 is not required.
[0080] Reference Figure 1 , an optical component 230 (e.g., a diffusion film), an optical component 240 (e.g., a brightness enhancement film), an optical component 250 (e.g., a brightness enhancement film) and / or an optical component 260 (e.g., a reflective brightness enhancement film) may be sequentially disposed on the light guide plate 220, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The optical component 230 and the optical component 260 may selectively have a diffusion function, and the optical component 240 and the optical component 250 may have a prism structure. It should be understood that the extension direction of the prism structure of the optical component 240 may be different from the extension direction of the prism structure of the optical component 250, for example, the extension direction of the prism structure of the optical component 240 may be substantially perpendicular to the extension direction of the prism structure of the optical component 250, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0081] From the cross-sectional schematic diagram, the prism structure of the optical component 240 and the optical component 250 can be a plurality of substantially identical triangles arranged continuously. These triangles can have a symmetrical triangle structure, for example, with a 90° vertex angle and 45° base angles on both sides, but the embodiment of the present disclosure is not limited thereto.
[0082] In some embodiments, the optical component 260 may be located above the optical component 250. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the optical component 260 may, for example, enhance the light focusing effect of the electronic device 10.
[0083] Reference Figure 1 , a viewing angle control component 300 may be provided on the backlight module 200. The viewing angle control component 300 may be provided, for example, between the backlight module 200 and the panel 500. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the viewing angle control component 300 may limit the viewing angle of the light pattern, and the viewing angle range of the light pattern may depend on the application and design requirements (e.g., safety requirements).
[0084] In some embodiments, as described above, a retaining wall structure 350 is disposed on the substrate 340, and the retaining wall structure 350 may be a light absorbing material. Whether viewed from the top view or the cross-sectional schematic diagram, the retaining wall structure 350 may have any suitable geometric shape as long as the viewing angle of the light pattern can be limited as required. The material of the retaining wall structure 350 may include black photoresist, black ink, or other similar materials.
[0085] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the filling material 360 may include, for example, a light-transmitting material. The material of the filling material 360 may include a transparent resin, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin, polycarbonate (PC) resin, polyimide (PI) resin, polymethylmethacrylates (PMMA), polystyrene resin, polyethersulfone (PES) resin, polythiophene (PT) resin, phenolnovolac (PN), other similar materials, or a combination thereof, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0086] Reference Figure 1 , a light modulation component 400 may be disposed on the viewing angle control component 300. The light modulation component 400 may be disposed between the panel 500 and the viewing angle control component 300. The light modulation component 400 may adjust the maximum brightness of the light pattern to any desired direction. As mentioned previously, the light modulation component 400 may include a plurality of prism structures 440. When the prism structure 440 is asymmetric (for example, having two side bottom angles different from each other), the maximum brightness of the light pattern may be offset from the center point of the light pattern, for example. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, after the light emitted by the backlight module 200 passes through the viewing angle control component 300 and the light modulation component 400, a first light pattern is measured by the surface of the light modulation component 400 away from the backlight module 200, and the maximum brightness of the first light pattern is located at an inclination angle θ between 5° and 40° (5°≦inclination angle θ≦40°), but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the maximum brightness of the first light pattern may be located at an inclination angle θ between 5° and 30° (5°≦inclination angle θ≦30°), for example 8° or 17.5°, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0087] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the light modulation component 400 may be disposed between the viewing angle control component 300 and the panel 500. The light modulation component 400 is, for example, disposed on the viewing angle control component 300. The light emitted by, for example, the backlight module 200 first passes through the viewing angle control component 300, and then passes through the light modulation component 400. It should be understood that by first limiting the viewing angle of the emitted light through the viewing angle control component 300, and then adjusting the path of the light to the desired propagation direction, the effects of both limiting the viewing angle and adjusting the light path can be taken into account.
[0088] If the propagation direction of the light pattern is adjusted through the light modulation component 400, the maximum brightness of the light pattern at this time has been adjusted to other directions (for example, the maximum brightness is not located in the direction with an inclination angle of 0°). If the light is further propagated through the viewing angle control component 300, the range of the light pattern may be greatly limited, thereby affecting the light output effect. In other words, the light may be consumed in large quantities. Therefore, if the relative positions of the viewing angle control component 300 and the light modulation component 400 are changed, the advantages of the present disclosure may be lost.
[0089] In some embodiments, the substrate 420 may serve as a base for the plurality of prism structures 440. The thickness of the substrate 420 may be between 25 μm and 350 μm, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The refractive index of the substrate 420 may be between 1.40 and 1.70, for example, between 1.49 and 1.66, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The material of the substrate 420 may include polyethylene terephthalate resin, polycarbonate resin, polymethyl methacrylate, or other similar materials, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the substrate 420 may also be a film layer without phase difference, such as a superretardation film (SRF).
[0090] The substrate 420 of the light modulation component 400 may have a first surface 420A and a second surface 420B. A plurality of prism structures 440 may be arranged on the first surface 420A, and the first surface 420A may be, for example, a flat surface. The second surface 420B may be located on the opposite surface of the first surface 420A and away from the prism structures 440. The second surface 420B may be a surface of the light modulation component 400 away from the plurality of prism structures 440. Compared to the flat surface of the first surface 420A, the second surface 420B may have a relatively rough surface. The rough features of the second surface 420B may be used to improve the optical quality or further enhance the scratch resistance. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the arithmetic mean roughness (Ra) of the second surface 420B may be between 0.1 μm and 100 μm (0.1 μm≦Ra≦100 μm), between 1 μm and 80 μm (1 μm≦Ra≦80 μm), or between 2 μm and 60 μm (2 μm≦Ra≦60 μm), but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. In some embodiments, the roughness of the second surface 420B may be achieved by laser etching, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. In some embodiments, the roughness of the second surface 420B of the substrate 420 may be achieved by hard coating, matte layer, or beads coating, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0091] In some embodiments, a plurality of prism structures 440 may be disposed on the substrate 420. The plurality of prism structures 440 may be, for example, closely adjacent to each other without any spacing, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. As previously mentioned, the prism structure 440 may have an asymmetric structure (e.g., having two side bottom angles different from each other). The material of the prism structure 440 may include a low refractive index glue, a high refractive index glue, titanium dioxide (TiO2), or other similar materials. The refractive index of the low refractive index glue may be between 1.50 and 1.59, and the refractive index of the high refractive index glue may be between 1.60 and 1.70.
[0092] Reference Figure 1 , a panel 500 may be disposed on the light modulation component 400. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the panel 500 may be used to display light having a desired viewing angle and tilt angle. In the present embodiment, the panel 500 may be non-self-luminous, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The panel 500 may include a lower substrate (not shown), an upper substrate (not shown), a lower polarizer (not shown), an upper polarizer (not shown), and a display layer (e.g., a liquid crystal layer) located between the lower substrate and the upper substrate. The panel 500 may include a twisted nematic (TN) mode, an in-plane switching (IPS) mode, a fringe field switching (FFS) mode, a multi-quadrant vertical alignment (MVA) mode, a patterned vertical alignment (PVA) mode, other suitable display panels, or a combination thereof, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0093] Figure 2 According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, Figure 1 FIG. 4 is a partial enlarged schematic diagram of an area X in the electronic device 10 shown in FIG. In some embodiments, the light modulation component 400 may include a substrate 420 and a plurality of prism structures 440. The substrate 420 may include a first surface 420A and a second surface 420B. The first surface 420A may be provided with a plurality of prism structures 440, and the second surface 420B relative to the first surface 420A may have a relatively high arithmetic mean roughness. For simplicity and clarity, Figure 2 Only one of the prism structures 440 is shown. For illustrative purposes, the backlight module 200, the viewing angle control assembly 300, and the panel 500 are omitted.
[0094] Reference Figure 2, the prism structure 440 may have a vertex angle T, a first base angle (such as a right base angle R), and a second base angle (such as a left base angle L). Based on the principle of geometry, the sum of the three angles of each triangle is 180°. More specifically, the sum of the vertex angle T, the first base angle (such as a right base angle R), and the second base angle (such as a left base angle L) is 180°. It is worth noting that the first base angle (such as a right base angle R) is, for example, greater than the second base angle (such as a left base angle L), and the ratio range of the first base angle (such as a right base angle R) to the second base angle (such as a left base angle L) meets the following requirements: 1<first base angle (such as a right base angle R) / second base angle (such as a left base angle L)≦15.
[0095] For example, the ratio range of the first base angle (such as the right base angle R) to the second base angle (such as the left base angle L) meets the following requirements: 3<first base angle (such as the right base angle R) / second base angle (such as the left base angle L)≦13, 4<first base angle (such as the right base angle R) / second base angle (such as the left base angle L)≦12, or 5<first base angle (such as the right base angle R) / second base angle (such as the left base angle L)≦11, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0096] In some embodiments, the top angle T may be between 30° and 150° (30°≦top angle T≦150°), between 35° and 145° (35°≦top angle T≦145°), between 40° and 140° (40°≦top angle T≦140°), between 45° and 135° (45°≦top angle T≦135°), or between 45° and 90° (45°≦top angle T<90°), but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0097] In some embodiments, the first base angle (such as the right base angle R) or the second base angle (such as the left base angle L) may be between 2° and 90° (2°≦first base angle (such as the right base angle R) or the second base angle (such as the left base angle L)≦90°), between 10° and 80° (10°≦first base angle (such as the right base angle R) or the second base angle (such as the left base angle L)≦80°), between 15° and 75° (15°≦first base angle (such as the right base angle R) or the second base angle (such as the left base angle L)≦75°), or between 20 and 70° (20°≦first base angle (such as the right base angle R) or the second base angle (such as the left base angle L)≦70°), but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. In some embodiments, the top angle T is greater than or equal to the sum of the first base angle (such as the right base angle R) and the second base angle (such as the left base angle L). For example, the vertex angle T may be between 90° and 150° (90°≦ vertex angle T≦150°), and the sum of the first base angle (such as the right base angle R) and the second base angle (such as the left base angle L) is equal to 180° minus the vertex angle T. In some embodiments, the vertex angle T is less than the sum of the first base angle (such as the right base angle R) and the second base angle (such as the left base angle L). For example, the vertex angle T may be between 30° and 89° (30°≦ vertex angle T≦89°), between 35° and 85° (35°≦ vertex angle T≦85°), or between 40° and 80° (40°≦ vertex angle T≦80°), and the sum of the first base angle (such as the right base angle R) and the second base angle (such as the left base angle L) is equal to 180° minus the vertex angle T. In some embodiments, a first base angle (eg, right base angle R) of at least one of the plurality of prism structures 440 may be 90°.
[0098] Reference Figure 2 , the light emitted by the viewing angle control component 300 may have light L1 and light L2 after passing through the light modulation component 400. As mentioned previously, since the smaller base angle has a longer hypotenuse, a larger amount of light will be directed to the hypotenuse of the smaller base angle. For example, the second base angle (such as the left base angle L) is smaller than the first base angle (such as the right base angle R), and the hypotenuse corresponding to the second base angle (such as the left base angle L) is longer than the hypotenuse corresponding to the first base angle (such as the right base angle R). Therefore, the amount of light of the light L1 is greater than the amount of light of the light L2. By adjusting each prism structure 440 to have different base angles on both sides, a larger amount of light can be directed to a desired direction, thereby making the maximum brightness of the overall light pattern of the electronic device 10 located at a desired tilt angle.
[0099] In some embodiments, the light pattern can be measured by an angle analysis instrument (such as model DMS-803), an imaging spectrocolorimeter (such as a viewing angle tester (conometer)), or other similar machines. The light pattern may have an azimuth angle ψ and a tilt angle θ. The azimuth angle ψ may have a range of 0° to 360°. The azimuth angle ψ may be regarded as an angle corresponding to different directions on the plane of the panel 500. For example, the light source 100 may be adjacent to an azimuth angle ψ of 270°. The tilt angle θ may have a range of 0° to 80°, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The tilt angle θ may be regarded as the angle intersecting with the normal direction of the surface of the panel 500. For example, when the tilt angle θ is 0°, it means parallel to the normal direction of the panel 500. Relatively speaking, when the tilt angle θ is larger, it means that it is closer to the horizontal surface direction of the panel 500.
[0100] Figure 3A According to some comparative examples, the light pattern 20A of the electronic device. In an electronic device that is not provided with a light modulation component 400, the maximum brightness of the light pattern 20A may be substantially located, for example, in the normal direction of the user's field of view (i.e., located at the center point of the light pattern 20A). Generally speaking, the light pattern of the light emitted by the backlight module 200 is roughly uniform light emission over the entire surface, that is, the brightness of the light is uniformly distributed at all azimuth angles, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited to this. When an angle control component 300 is additionally provided on the backlight module 200, the angle control component 300 may absorb a portion of the light, thereby limiting the angle of view of the light pattern. For example Figure 3A The electronic device shown can present a light pattern with limited viewing angles at the upper and lower parts, that is, at the same tilt angle θ, the light brightness at the position of the azimuth angle ψ between 60° and 120° and the position of the azimuth angle ψ between 240° and 300° is less than the light brightness at the position of the azimuth angle ψ in other ranges, but the embodiment of the present disclosure is not limited thereto. In other embodiments, for example, the placement angle of the viewing angle control component 300 can be adjusted so that the electronic device can present a light pattern with limited viewing angles at the left and right parts (not shown), but the embodiment of the present disclosure is not limited thereto.
[0101] Figure 3B 20B is a light pattern diagram of an electronic device 10 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Compared to the light pattern diagram 20A, the light pattern diagram 20B measures the electronic device 10 having the light modulation component 400 of the present disclosure. Compared to the light pattern diagram 20A (whose maximum brightness is at a position where the tilt angle θ is close to 0°), the configuration of the light modulation component 400 can make the tilt angle θ of the maximum brightness of the light pattern diagram adjustable according to the design of the light modulation component 400.
[0102] Figure 4A and Figure 4BFIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view of electronic devices 30A and 30B having light modulation components 400 of various designs according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. For illustrative purposes, other components are omitted. The features of the light modulation components 400 are similar to those of the electronic device 10. [0103] Reference Figure 4A , a cross-sectional schematic diagram of the light modulation component 400 of the electronic device 30A is shown. The top angle, the second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle), and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle) of each prism structure 440 of the light modulation component 400 may be 58°, 32°, and 90°, respectively, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. It is worth noting that the top angle of the prism structure 440 is smaller than the sum of the second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle) and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle), and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle) is, for example, a right angle, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the prism structure 440 may have an asymmetric bottom angle (for example, the second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle) and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle) are different from each other), so as to achieve a desired light propagation direction.

It is worth noting that the top angle of the prism structure 440 is equal to the sum of the left bottom angle and the right bottom angle, and the top angle is a right angle. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the prism structure 440 may have an asymmetric bottom angle (for example, the second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle) and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle) are different from each other), so as to achieve the desired light propagation direction.

The configuration of the viewing angle control component 300 and the light modulation component 400 may vary. For illustrative purposes, other components are omitted. The features of the viewing angle control component 300 and the light modulation component 400 are similar to those of the present disclosure. The viewing angle control component 300 has a plurality of retaining wall structures 350, and the plurality of retaining wall structures 350 may extend along a first direction (e.g., the X-axis direction), while the plurality of prism structures 440 of the light modulation component 400 may extend along a second direction (e.g., the Y-axis direction). The extension direction (first direction) of the retaining wall structure 350 may be different from the extension direction (second direction) of the prism structure 440, for example, the first direction and the second direction may be perpendicular to each other, or may intersect in the range of 45° to 80°, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The dotted lines within each prism structure 440 may serve as the vertex position of the triangular outline. In addition, the dotted lines indicated Figure 1 The cross-sectional view of the plurality of prism structures 440 of the electronic device 40A is used as a reference for relative positions. [0108] Figure 6 is a cross-sectional schematic diagram of an electronic device 50 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 1 , the electronic device 50 may include a self-luminous panel 600 and a protective substrate 700 disposed on the panel 600. Due to the self-luminous characteristics of the panel 600, the electronic device 50 may not need a backlight module 200. The features of the viewing angle control component 300 and the light modulation component 400 are similar to those of the Figure 1 The details are similar to those shown, and will not be repeated here.
[0109] Reference Figure 6 , a protective substrate 700 may be disposed on the panel 600. The material of the protective substrate 700 includes cover glass (CG) or other similar materials.
[0110] Continue to refer to Figure 6, the light modulation component 400 may be disposed between the panel 600 and the protective substrate 700. The viewing angle control component 300 may be disposed between the panel 600 and the light modulation component 400, and the light modulation component 400 may be disposed between the viewing angle control component 300 and the protective substrate 700. As mentioned previously, the light modulation component 400 is, for example, disposed above the viewing angle control component 300 to reduce the light loss caused by the viewing angle control component 300.
[0111] According to an alternative embodiment of the present disclosure, for example, only the light modulation component 400 may be disposed between the panel 600 and the protection substrate 700 , and the viewing angle control component 300 may be selectively not disposed.
[0112] Figure 7 and Figure 8 60 and 70 are simulated light patterns of electronic devices with various designs according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. During the simulation, the relative position of the light source 100 is, for example, adjacent to an azimuth angle ψ of 270°. The refractive index of the prism structure 440 of the simulated light modulation component 400 may be, for example, between 1.56 and 1.70. The second surface 420B of the substrate 420 of the simulated light modulation component 400 may, for example, have an arithmetic mean roughness between 0.1 μm and 30 μm, and a haze between 0% and 20%. The haze may be related to the arithmetic mean roughness.
[0113] Reference Figure 7 , showing a simulated light pattern diagram 60 of an electronic device. The top angle, the second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle), and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle) of each prism structure 440 of the light modulation component 400 may be 80°, 55°, and 45°, respectively. It is worth noting that the top angle of this simulated prism structure 440 is smaller than the sum of the second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle) and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle), and does not have a right angle. It is worth noting that the brightness distribution conditions of the left half and the right half of the simulated light pattern diagram 60 are different. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the prism structure 440 may have an asymmetric bottom angle (for example, the second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle) and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle) are different from each other), so as to adjust the propagation direction of light.
[0114] Continue to refer to Figure 7, the light pattern 60 may have an azimuth angle ψ and a tilt angle θ. The azimuth angle ψ may have a range of 0° to 360°. The azimuth angle ψ may be regarded as an angle corresponding to different directions on the plane of the panel 500. For example, the light source 100 may be adjacent to an azimuth angle ψ of 270°. The tilt angle θ may, for example, have a range of 0° to 90°, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The tilt angle θ may be regarded as an angle intersecting with the normal direction of the surface of the panel 500. For example, when the tilt angle θ is 0°, it represents parallelism with the normal direction of the panel 500. Relatively speaking, when the tilt angle θ is 90°, it is parallel to the horizontal surface of the panel 500.
[0115] Reference Figure 8 , showing a simulated light pattern diagram 70 of an electronic device. The top angle, second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle), and first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle) of each prism structure 440 of the light modulation component 400 may be 100°, 35°, and 45°, respectively. It is worth noting that the top angle of this simulated prism structure 440 is greater than the sum of the second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle) and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle), and does not have a right angle. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the prism structure 440 may have an asymmetric bottom angle (for example, the second bottom angle (such as the left bottom angle) and the first bottom angle (such as the right bottom angle) are different from each other), so as to adjust the propagation direction of light. It is worth noting that the simulated light pattern Figure 7 The brightness distribution of the left and right halves is different.
[0116] Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional schematic diagram of an electronic device 80 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 1 The viewing angle control component 300 of the electronic device 80 may include a bottom plate 310, an adhesive layer 320, an optical component 330 (such as a reflective brightness enhancement film or other optical functional film), and an upper plate 370. The features of the backlight module 200, the light modulation component 400, and the panel 500 are similar to those of the backlight module 200, the light modulation component 400, and the panel 500. Figure 1 The details are similar to those shown, and will not be repeated here.
[0117] Reference Fig. 9 , a bottom plate 310 may be provided. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the function of the bottom plate 310 may be, for example, to support or protect the optical component 330 from being damaged by the component structure below. According to a specific embodiment of the present disclosure, the bottom plate 310 may include a material mainly composed of polycarbonate resin or other suitable materials, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0118] Reference Fig. 9 The function of the adhesive layer 320 can be, for example, to fix the optical component 330 to the base plate 310 .
[0119] In some embodiments, since the viewing angle control component 300 of the electronic device 80 is provided with the optical component 330 , the optical component 260 of the backlight module 200 can be omitted. From another point of view, the optical component 260 of the backlight module 200 can be integrated into the viewing angle control component 300 .
[0120] Continue to refer to Fig. 9 The substrate 340, the plurality of retaining wall structures 350, and the filling material 360 may be located between the optical component 330 and the upper plate 370. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the function of the upper plate 370 may be, for example, to protect the retaining wall structure 350, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.
[0121] Fig.10 is a cross-sectional schematic diagram of an electronic device 90 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure. Fig. 9 , the prism structure 440 of the light modulation component 400 of the electronic device 90 may be, for example, inverted. The features of the backlight module 200, the viewing angle control component 300, the light modulation component 400, and the panel 500 are similar to those of the Fig. 9 The details are similar to those shown, and will not be repeated here.
[0122] Reference Fig.10 , the multiple prism structures 440 of the light modulation component 400, for example, face the viewing angle control component 300 below. The relatively rough second surface 420B of the light modulation component 400 may, for example, be adjacent to the panel 500, but the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. Although the configuration direction of the prism structure 440 has changed, the direction of light propagation can still be changed by adjusting the bottom angles on both sides (or the two angles in contact with the first surface 420A). According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the prism structure 440 may have an asymmetric bottom angle (for example, the bottom angles on both sides are different from each other) to adjust the propagation direction of light.
[0123] By means of an innovative light modulation component having an asymmetric prism structure, the viewing angle of light can be adjusted to any desired direction. When the prism structure is asymmetric, the base angles on both sides are different from each other. Since the smaller base angle has a longer hypotenuse, a larger amount of light will be directed to the hypotenuse of the smaller base angle, thereby achieving a change in the direction of light propagation. In other words, by designing different prism structures, the maximum brightness of the light pattern can be offset from the normal direction of the original user's field of view. The angle between the offset direction and the original normal direction can be used as the inclination angle of the light pattern. In addition to using the original viewing angle control component to limit the viewing angle of the light pattern, the light modulation component can further adjust the position of the maximum brightness, such as an inclination angle between 5° and 40°. In addition, the light modulation component needs to be located above the viewing angle control component to demonstrate the advantages of the present disclosure.
[0124] The features of several embodiments are summarized above so that those with ordinary knowledge in the art can better understand the concepts of the embodiments of the present disclosure. Those with ordinary knowledge in the art should understand that other processes and structures can be easily designed or modified based on the embodiments of the present disclosure to achieve the same purposes and / or advantages as the embodiments introduced herein. Those with ordinary knowledge in the art should also understand that such equivalent structures do not deviate from the spirit and scope of the present disclosure, and various changes, substitutions and replacements can be made without violating the spirit and scope of the present disclosure.
