Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a display device, and more particularly to a touch display device. Background Art
[0002] In recent years, many in-vehicle display devices have been equipped with knobs for users to rotate or press in order to provide users with a more convenient touch interface to control the display screen. However, the knobs commonly installed in in-vehicle display devices currently have only a one-way pressing function and are therefore very limited in scope of application.
[0003] Therefore, how to provide a display device that can solve the above problems is one of the problems that the industry is eager to invest research and development resources to solve. Summary of the invention
[0004] In view of this, an object of the present disclosure is to provide a display device that can solve the above problems.
[0005] One aspect of the present disclosure is related to a display device including a touch display panel and a knob. The touch display panel includes a plurality of touch sensing units and a plurality of pixel units. The pixel units are configured to form a display screen. The knob is located on the touch display panel and includes a housing, a conductive contact pad, and a conductive ring. The conductive contact pad is disposed on a surface of the housing adjacent to the touch display panel and contacts the touch display panel. The conductive ring is disposed on the surface of the housing. When the housing is not pressed, the conductive ring is separated from the touch display panel. When the housing is pressed, the conductive ring contacts the touch display panel.
[0006] In some embodiments, when the housing is not pressed, the conductive ring is substantially parallel to the touch display panel and there is a gap greater than or equal to 2 mm between the conductive ring and the touch display panel.
[0007] In some implementations, a conductive ring surrounds the conductive contact pad.
[0008] In some embodiments, the opening of the housing exposes a portion of the touch display panel.
[0009] In some embodiments, the conductive ring laterally surrounds the opening. The conductive contact pad is located on one side of the conductive ring adjacent to the opening.
[0010] In some embodiments, in the first case, when the housing is pressed, the conductive ring is tilted relative to the touch display panel and forms point contact with the touch display panel.
[0011] In some embodiments, in the second situation, when the housing is pressed, the conductive ring forms surface contact with the touch display panel.
[0012] In some implementations, the display screen generates different operating effects in response to the first situation and the second situation.
[0013] In some embodiments, the conductive contact pad and the conductive ring comprise different materials.
[0014] In some embodiments, the conductive contact pad comprises a metal material, and the conductive ring comprises a conductive polymer material.
[0015] In some embodiments, the display device further includes a spring structure, wherein the spring structure is located between the conductive ring and the conductive contact pad.
[0016] In some embodiments, the conductive contact pad has a portion embedded in a recess of the housing.
[0017] In summary, in the display device of some embodiments of the present disclosure, by setting a conductive ring on the knob, the user can achieve a variety of touch modes by pressing the knob, resulting in different degrees of capacitance changes, which in turn cause the display screen to have a variety of corresponding operating effects. For example, the knob can be pressed to tilt the knob and partially contact the touch sensing panel, or the knob can be pressed to vertically approach the touch sensing panel and form a surface contact. Through this configuration, a single driver chip can be used to integrate the functions of display drive, timing control, touch sensing control, and knob rotation identification without the need for additional encoders or assembled circuit boards. Compared with common display devices, more touch applications can be provided while simplifying the structure and related processes.

Therefore, the regions shown in the figures are schematic in nature, and their shapes are not intended to illustrate the precise shape of the regions and are not intended to limit the scope of the claims.
[0054] Please refer to Figure 1 , which is a partial cross-sectional schematic diagram of a display device 10 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 1As shown in FIG. 1 , the display device 10 includes a knob 100 and a touch display panel 200. The knob 100 is located on the touch display panel 200 and is configured to form different contact modes with the touch display panel 200 under different operating conditions.
[0055] The touch display panel 200 includes a plurality of touch sensing units TS and a plurality of pixel units. The touch sensing unit TS is configured to sense touch actions and generate corresponding sensing signals according to different touch actions. For example, the touch sensing unit TS is configured to sense the contact of a human hand and the contact of the knob 100. Pixel units such as liquid crystal units are configured to form a display screen. In some embodiments, the touch sensing unit TS and the pixel unit are overlapping arrays. In other words, the touch sensing unit TS and the pixel unit are arranged one-to-one in the touch display area of the touch display panel 200. For the sake of simplicity, Figure 1 In the figure, only the touch sensing unit TS is shown as an example. In some embodiments, the touch display panel 200 is an in-cell multi-touch panel.
[0056] In some embodiments, Figure 1 As shown in , the knob 100 is disposed above the touch sensing unit TS. In other words, the knob 100 can be disposed above the touch display area. The knob 100 includes a housing 110, a conductive contact pad 120, and a conductive ring 130. In some embodiments, the housing 110 has an opening OP. The opening OP exposes a portion of the touch display panel 200.
[0057] like Figure 1 As shown in , the conductive contact pad 120 is disposed on the surface of the housing 110 adjacent to the touch display panel 200. The conductive contact pad 120 contacts the upper surface of the touch display panel 200. Figure 1 As shown in , a portion of the conductive contact pad 120 is embedded in the groove T1 of the housing 110. In some embodiments, a spring or a similar elastic structure is provided between the portion of the conductive contact pad 120 embedded in the groove T1 and the groove T1, so that the conductive contact pad 120 is against the upper surface of the touch display panel 200 in different operating conditions.
[0058] like Figure 1 As shown in , the conductive ring 130 is also disposed on the surface of the housing 110 adjacent to the touch display panel 200. In some embodiments, the conductive ring 130 surrounds the conductive contact pad 120. Further, the conductive ring 130 can laterally surround the opening OP, while the conductive contact pad 120 is located on a side of the conductive ring 130 adjacent to the opening OP.
[0059] In some embodiments, the conductive contact pad 120 and the conductive ring 130 include different materials. For example, the conductive contact pad 120 includes a metal material, and the conductive ring 130 includes a conductive polymer material such as conductive rubber or conductive silicone.
[0060] like Figure 1 As shown in , the knob 100 may further include a spring structure 140 located between the conductive contact pad 120 and the conductive ring 130. The spring structure 140 includes a stopper 141 and a spring 142 disposed in a groove of the housing 110, such as the groove T2. In some embodiments, a plurality of spring structures 140 may be arranged in a ring along the conductive ring 130. In this way, when the housing 110 is subjected to positive pressure (e.g., pressure along the direction Z), the spring structure 140 may provide a restoring force to return the housing 110 to a preset equilibrium position, such as to a predetermined equilibrium position. Figure 1 status.
[0061] The knob 100 may further include an adhesive layer 150 located below the stopper 141, so as to fix the knob 100 to the upper surface of the touch display panel 200. In some embodiments, the adhesive layer 150 is a colloid with a high compression rate to allow the knob 100 to tilt and partially contact the touch display panel 200. In some embodiments, the adhesive layer 150 is a colloid that can be repeatedly pasted to move the position of the knob 100 on the touch display panel 200 and re-fix it. It is worth noting that since the stopper 141 is disposed in the groove T2, the housing 110 can be displaced relative to the stopper 141, so when the stopper 141 is fixed to the touch display panel 200 through the adhesive layer 150, the housing 110 is still allowed to rotate relative to the stopper 141 and the touch display panel 200. The operation mode of the rotation of the knob 100 will be described in detail in the subsequent paragraphs.
[0062] Please refer to Figure 2 , which is a bottom view of the knob 100 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 2 As shown in , the conductive ring 130 is disposed at the outermost edge of the surface of the housing 110 adjacent to the touch display panel 200, surrounding the conductive contact pad 120 and surrounding the opening OP. Figure 2 As shown in , the blocking body 141 can be annularly disposed in a groove (not shown) of the housing 110. Accordingly, a plurality of springs (not shown) are annularly arranged along the conductive ring 130 between the blocking body 141 and the groove of the housing 110. The adhesive layer 150 is disposed on the surface of the blocking body 141.
[0063] Please go back Figure 1 As mentioned above, the knob 100 is configured to form different contact modes with the touch display panel 200 under different operating conditions. Figure 1It can be used as the equilibrium position when the knob 100 is not pressed. When the housing 110 is not pressed by external force, Figure 1 As shown in FIG. 1 , the conductive ring 130 is separated from the touch display panel 200. Specifically, the conductive ring 130 is substantially parallel to the touch display panel 200. A gap G greater than or equal to 2 mm is provided between the conductive ring 130 and the upper surface of the touch display panel 200.
[0064] Next, please refer to Figure 3 and Figure 4 , which are respectively partial cross-sectional schematic diagrams of the display device 10 under different operating conditions according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0065] First, in the first case, the housing 110 is pressed at a single point. Figure 3 As shown in , the external force F1 is applied to the right side of the housing 110, so that the conductive ring 130 is tilted relative to the touch display panel 200, and a portion of the conductive ring 130 forms a point contact with the touch display panel 200 (as shown on the right side of the conductive ring 130). In this way, the contact part is turned on and causes a capacitance change, so the touch sensing unit TS (such as the touch sensing unit TS1) can sense the capacitance change and generate a first sensing signal.
[0066] It should be noted that the point contact here means that a portion of the conductive ring 130 contacts the touch display panel 200 , and the rest of the conductive ring 130 is separated from the touch display panel 200 .
[0067] Next, in the second situation, the housing 110 is pressed at multiple points. Figure 4 As shown in , the external force F2 is evenly applied to the housing 110, so that the housing 110 vertically approaches the touch display panel 200 and the conductive ring 130 forms a surface contact with the touch display panel 200. In this way, the portion of the conductive ring 130 that contacts the touch display panel 200 is turned on and causes a capacitance change, so that the touch sensing unit TS (such as the touch sensing unit TS1 and the touch sensing unit TS3) can sense the capacitance change and generate a second sensing signal.
[0068] It is worth noting that the contact area of the surface contact is larger than the contact area of the point contact and may be several times the contact area of the point contact. In other words, the number of the touch sensing units TS driven in the second case is greater than the number of the touch sensing units TS driven in the first case.
[0069] In some embodiments, the touch display panel 200 may further include a driver coupled to the touch sensing unit TS and the pixel unit. The driver receives a sensing signal from the touch sensing unit TS and generates a corresponding control signal, thereby controlling the pixel unit to form different display images.
[0070] For example, after receiving the sensing signal, the driver can determine whether the operation mode belongs to the first case or the second case according to the number of the driven touch sensing units TS. For example, when the number of the driven touch sensing units TS is less than or equal to 4, it is determined that the conductive ring 130 and the touch display panel 200 are in point contact, which belongs to the first case, and when the number of the driven touch sensing units TS is greater than or equal to 15, it is determined that the conductive ring 130 and the touch display panel 200 are in surface contact, which belongs to the second case. By adjusting the judgment quantity standard, the resolution of the knob 100 for different pressing directions can be adjusted. When the quantity standard is smaller, the resolution of the knob 100 for different pressing directions is higher, and when the quantity standard is larger, the resolution of the knob 100 for different pressing directions is lower.
[0071] In some embodiments, the display screen generates different operation effects in response to the first situation and the second situation. For example, in the first situation, the driver drives the touch sensing unit TS to control the display screen to achieve a translation effect, and in the second situation, the driver drives the touch sensing unit TS to control the display screen to achieve a click effect.
[0072] In addition, as mentioned above, the conductive contact pad 120 maintains contact with the upper surface of the touch display panel 200. Therefore, when the knob 100 is placed on the touch display panel 200, the contact portion between the conductive contact pad 120 and the touch display panel 200 will also cause a capacitance change, so the touch sensing unit TS (e.g. Figure 3 and Figure 4 The touch sensing unit TS2 in the touch display panel 200 can sense the capacitance change and generate a third sensing signal. The driver can determine whether the knob 100 is set on the touch display panel 200 at the current time point based on the third sensing signal and identify the position where the knob 100 is set. In some embodiments, the display screen can also produce different display effects around the position where the knob 100 is set, such as displaying a menu. As mentioned above, the fixing method of the knob 100 allows the housing 110 to rotate relative to the touch display panel 200. Therefore, in some embodiments, the position of the conductive contact pad 120 can be changed by rotating the knob 100, thereby changing the display screen, such as selecting menu content.
[0073] It is worth noting that since the conductive contact pad 120 and the conductive ring 130 include different conductive materials, even if the contact area between the two and the touch display panel 200 is the same, different capacitance changes will be generated respectively, thereby driving the touch sensing unit TS to generate different sensing signals. Therefore, the driver can determine whether it is the conductive contact pad 120 or the conductive ring 130 that generates the capacitance change based on the difference between the first sensing signal, the second sensing signal and the third sensing signal.
[0074] Similarly, the capacitance change caused by human hand touch is different from that of the conductive contact pad 120 and the conductive ring 130, so the driver can also determine the difference between human hand touch and knob contact. In other words, in the display device of the present disclosure, the same driver can simultaneously receive both human hand and knob operation modes.
[0075] Through this configuration, the driving circuits of the touch sensing unit and the pixel unit can be arranged on the same side of the array substrate, so that the module function integration (including display driving, timing control, touch sensing control and rotation identification of the knob 100) can be achieved through a single driving chip. In this way, the display device 10 can include multiple knobs 100 arranged at any position of the touch display area, and can receive human touch at the same time without the need for additional encoders or printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) to assist in integration.
[0076] Please refer to Figure 5 , which is a top view of a display device 10 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 5 As shown in FIG. 1 , the touch display panel 200 includes a touch display area DA and a non-display area NA surrounding the touch display area DA. The touch sensing unit and the pixel unit are arranged in the touch display area DA (for example, arranged in an array along directions X and Y). The knob 100 can be arranged above the touch display area DA and through the opening of the knob 100 (such as Figure 1 The opening OP in the knob 100 exposes a portion of the touch display area DA. In other words, the user can see a portion of the display screen through the opening of the knob 100 and perform touch control. Figure 5 As shown in , the touch display panel 200 may further include a driver 210. In some embodiments, the driver 210 may be a touch with display driver (TDDI).
[0077] Please refer to Figure 6 , which is a schematic diagram of system control of a display device 10 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 6In the embodiment, the display device 10 is used as a vehicle liquid crystal display device. As mentioned above, the driver 210 of the display device 10 can be a touch panel sensor chip for integrating a touch sensing controller and a panel controller. The panel controller can also include a timing controller (T-con). In addition, the driver 210 can also include a microcontroller (MCU) and a flash memory (flash). As mentioned above, the driver 210 is coupled to the touch sensing unit and the pixel unit of the touch display panel 200. The driver 210 can also be directly or indirectly coupled to a vehicle-mounted computer, such as Figure 6 In this way, the text or image information transmitted between the serializer of the electronic controller and the deserializer of the mainboard can be sent to the display device 10 for display. Figure 6 As shown in , the display device 10 may further include a backlight module directly coupled to a microcontroller of the mainboard.
[0078] From the above detailed description of the specific embodiments of the present disclosure, it can be clearly seen that in the display device of some embodiments of the present disclosure, by setting a conductive ring on the knob, the user can achieve a variety of touch modes by pressing the knob, resulting in different degrees of capacitance changes, thereby causing the display screen to have a variety of corresponding operation effects.
