[0022] A first aspect of the present invention relates to a gas cock 1 with a safety valve 20 for a gas cooking appliance.

[0023] The gas cock 1 of the present invention comprises a main body 10, the main body 10 comprises a gas inlet pipe 11 fluidly connected to a safety valve 20, at least one gas outlet pipe 12, 13, and a receiving portion 14 fluidly connected to the safety valve 20 and the at least one outlet pipe 12, 13. The receiving portion 14 comprises a contact surface 140, and the contact surface 140 comprises at least one outlet hole 120, 130 fluidly connected to the at least one outlet pipe 12, 13. Preferably, the gas cock 1 comprises one to three outlet pipes.

[0024] Preferably, the safety valve 20 is a normally closed solenoid valve housed in a safety conduit 19 of the body 10, the safety conduit 19 being connected to the gas inlet conduit 11. The safety valve 20 comprises a plug 21, the plug 21 being configured to move between a closed position, in which the plug 21 is arranged on a seat 18 of the safety conduit 19, thereby preventing the flow of gas, and a passage position, in which the plug 21 is separated from the seat 18, thereby allowing the gas to flow from the inlet conduit 11 to the receiving portion 14 through a passage opening 180, which connects the safety conduit 19 to the receiving portion 14 of the body 10. In this sense, the safety valve 20 is considered to be closed when the plug 21 is arranged in the closed position, and is considered to be open when the plug 21 is arranged in the passage position. The safety valve 20 also comprises a spring 22 that keeps the plug 21 in the closed position. The initial opening of the safety valve 20 is performed by mechanically pushing the plug element 21 so as to separate it from the seat 18, and preferably, during a short predetermined period of time, the safety valve 20 is electronically powered to keep the safety valve 20 open. Once the said period of time has passed, when the burner associated with the gas cock 1 is turned on, the corresponding thermocouple keeps the safety valve energized and therefore keeps the plug 21 in the passage position.

[0025] The gas cock 1 further comprises an adjusting disk 30 comprising at least one adjusting opening 31a, 31b. The adjusting disk 30 is arranged in the housing 14 of the body 10 on the contact surface 140. The adjusting disk 30 is configured to adjust the incoming gas flow from the safety valve 20 to the at least one outlet pipe 12, 13 by means of its rotation. Preferably, the adjusting disk 30 comprises a series of adjusting openings 31a, 31b for each outlet pipe 12, 13, which allow the gas flow between the housing 14 and the corresponding outlet pipe 12, 13 to be adjusted by the rotation of the adjusting disk 30. Alternatively, the adjusting disk may comprise a single adjusting opening for each outlet pipe. The adjustment of the gas flow occurs when the at least one adjusting opening 31a, 31b and the corresponding outlet orifice 120, 130 are arranged in fluid connection.

[0026] Furthermore, the gas cock 1 comprises a motor 80, preferably a BLDC (brushless direct current) motor, comprising an output shaft 81. A stepper motor or any other low torque motor may also be used.

[0027] The gas cock 1 further comprises a gear coupled to the shaft 81 of the motor 80 and configured to transmit the movement of the motor 80 to the adjusting disk 30 .

[0028] The gas cock 1 includes an actuator element 40, which is accommodated in the body 10 and is configured to open the safety valve 20 by its rotation. In addition, the actuator element 40 is a wheel including a plurality of teeth 41, and the actuator element 40 is part of a gear. Preferably, the plurality of teeth 41 are arranged on at least a portion of the periphery of the actuator element 40.

[0029] In this sense, the actuator element 40 is an at least partially toothed wheel which, in addition to being part of a gear that transmits the rotation of the shaft 81 of the motor 80 to the adjusting disk 30, is also configured to open the safety valve 20 by means of its rotation. The actuator element 40 thus performs a dual function and it is possible to obtain an actuation mechanism of the gas cock 1 with fewer components and which is therefore simpler and more compact.

[0030] In this sense, the gas cock 1 of the present invention is a motor-driven gas cock 1 which, through the rotation of the motor 80 , can mechanically open the safety valve 20 on the one hand and regulate the gas flow from the inlet pipe 11 to the at least one outlet pipe 12 , 13 on the other hand.

[0031] Preferably, the motor 80 is arranged outside the housing 14 of the body 10, i.e., the motor 80 is arranged outside the area through which the gas circulates. The fact that the motor 80 is arranged outside the housing 14 and therefore outside the gas circuit prevents the gas cock from having to overcome the tests required by law for gas cocks with electricity inside the housing through which the gas circulates. Furthermore, the arrangement of the motor 80 outside the housing 14 of the body 10 is beneficial to the tightness of the gas cock 1, given that in the case where the motor is located inside the housing of the body, the cavity to be isolated will increase significantly and, moreover, the system will have to be designed to ensure the isolation of the power cables and the control of the motor.

[0032] Preferably, the gear comprises a worm 60, which is coupled to the shaft 81 of the motor 80 and which engages with the teeth 41 of the actuator element 40. In this sense, the rotation axis 600 of the worm 60 is arranged perpendicularly with respect to the rotation axis 402 of the actuator element 40. Preferably, the body 10 comprises an inlet hole allowing the worm 60 to be introduced into the body 10. Thereby, the worm 60 comprises a first end arranged outside the body 10, which is coupled to the shaft 81 of the motor, and the rest of the worm 60 is housed in the body 10. Preferably, the gas cock 1 comprises a lip seal 56, which is arranged around the worm 60 and is supported against the body 10 to seal the inlet hole and thus maintain the tightness / gas tightness of the inlet port. The required tightness / tightness is obtained by the lip seal 56, which exerts on the worm 60 a friction force which is significantly less than the force exerted on said worm in the case of using O-rings commonly used in motor-driven gas cocks in which the motor is arranged outside the housing of the body. Considering that, in order to obtain a cost-effective solution, it will be of interest to use a motor 80 with a low output torque, the fact that the friction force exerted by the lip seal 56 is low is a great advantage.

[0033] This type of gear, called "worm wheel", allows reducing the output speed of the motor 80 by increasing the torque in the transmission. It is thus possible to use a motor 80 with a low output torque, so that as a result of this type of gear, the torque required to cause the safety valve 20 to open is obtained in the actuator element 40. Motors with low output torque are generally cheaper, so the use of this type of gear also makes the gas cock 1 of the invention a cheaper and simpler solution, in addition to the dual function of the actuator element 40 that allows the use of fewer components. Moreover, this type of "worm-worm wheel" gear requires less space and achieves a greater reduction in the speed increase of the output torque, compared to gears with parallel axes, so that the solution of the invention requires a smaller number of components in the transmission system, thereby obtaining a less complex gas cock and facilitating its manufacture, assembly and operation.

[0034] In a worm-type gear, radial stresses may be generated, which may lead to an unbalanced movement of the rotor / stator of the motor coupled to the worm, resulting in a lower operating efficiency of the motor and capable of causing gas leakage in the lip seal 56 located between the body 10 and the worm 60. For this reason, in order to minimize these possible radial displacements, preferably, the gas cock 1 comprises at least one bushing 54, 55 with a small gap around a portion of the worm 60, the bushing 54 preferably being arranged behind the lip seal 56. The at least one bushing 54, 55 is accommodated in a corresponding retaining accommodation of the body 10, so that the at least one bushing 54, 55 keeps the worm 60 centered and prevents its radial displacement. More preferably, the cock 1 comprises a first bushing 54 arranged in a first portion 61 of the worm 60 and a second bushing 55 arranged in a second portion 62 of the worm 60, the toothed portion 63 of the worm 60 being arranged between the first portion 61 and the second portion 62. Furthermore, the gas cock 1 may comprise an axial stop 57 arranged in the body 10 , and the worm 60 comprises a recess 65 cooperating with said axial stop 57 , so that a possible axial displacement of the worm 60 is also minimized.

[0035] Preferably, the actuator element 40 comprises a protrusion 42 configured to act indirectly on the plug element 21 of the safety valve 20. Preferably, the protrusion 42 is arranged on the periphery of the actuator element 40 and protrudes radially relative to the periphery of said actuator element 40.

[0036] Preferably, the protrusion 42 can also be used to define the zero position of the adjustment disk 30. To this end, the protrusion 42 can cooperate with the abutment wall of the body 10, so that when the zero position is to be determined, the actuator element 40 is rotated in the search zero direction, so that the zero position is determined when the protrusion 42 abuts against the abutment wall, which prevents the actuator element 40 from being able to continue rotating in said direction.

[0037] Furthermore, preferably, the gas cock 1 comprises a lever 70 disposed in the housing 14 and rotatably fixed to the body 10 by a rotation axis 73. The lever 70 is configured to act on the plug element 21 of the safety valve 20 when the rotation of the actuator element 40 causes the protrusion 42 to act on the lever 70. The lever 70 comprises a first radial extension 71 configured to cooperate with the actuator element 40 and a second radial extension 72 configured to cooperate with the safety valve 20, with the rotation axis 73 being arranged between the two radial extensions 71, 72. In this sense, the second radial extension 72 of the lever 70 is configured to act on the plug element 21 of the safety valve 20, so that the safety valve 20 is opened when the protrusion 42 of the actuator element 40 pushes the first radial extension 71 of the lever 70. In this sense, the lever 70 is configured to rotate between a waiting position and a pushing position, in which the second radial extension 72 of the lever 70 passes through the passage opening 180, thus separating the plug 21 from the seat 18, thereby allowing the passage of gas from the inlet duct 11 to the housing 14 through the passage opening 180. The lever 70 amplifies the force transmitted by the actuator element 40 to the plug 21, so that its use as an intermediate element allows the force required to open the safety valve 20 to be applied using the torque of the actuator element 40, wherein the torque of the actuator element 40 is lower than the torque in the case where said actuator element 40 acts directly on the plug 21. Therefore, the use of the lever 70 results in a lower torque required for the motor 80 to be able to open the safety valve 20. The at least one adjustment opening 31a, 31b of the adjustment disk 30 is arranged so that when the protrusion 42 of the actuator element 40 is arranged in an angular position of a circular sector in which the protrusion 42 acts on the lever 70, the at least one adjustment opening 31a, 31b does not coincide with the at least one outlet hole 120, 130, so that it is ensured that there will be no gas flow while the protrusion 42 acts on the lever 70 (i.e., while the plug 21 of the safety valve 20 is mechanically operated), so that in the event of a malfunction, if the actuator element 40 is blocked in the angular position in which the plug 21 is mechanically operated by the lever 70, it is ensured that there will be no gas leakage.

[0038] Preferably, the adjustment disk 30 is coupled to the actuator element 40 so that the two parts rotate integrally, the actuator element 40 being the part that transmits the rotation directly to the adjustment disk 30. To this end, preferably, the actuator element 40 comprises a central protrusion 43, and the adjustment disk 30 comprises a central hole 32 of a shape complementary to the central protrusion 43 of the actuator element 40, the central protrusion 43 being received in the central hole 32 so that the two parts rotate integrally. Alternatively, the adjustment disk may be integrated in the actuator element itself.

[0039] Preferably, the body 10 comprises a central hole 16 in which the shaft 51 is arranged, and the central protrusion 43 of the actuator element comprises a central hole 430 through which the shaft 51 passes, such that the actuator element 40 is configured to rotate relative to the shaft 51 .

[0040] Preferably, the actuator element 40 comprises at least one pressure element 44 protruding relative to a surface 400 of the actuator element 40 arranged facing the adjusting disk 30, said at least one pressure element 44 being configured to press the adjusting disk 30 against the contact surface 140. In this sense, the actuator element 40 also has the function of ensuring a proper support of the adjusting disk 30 on the contact surface 140 of the housing 14.

[0041] Preferably, the gas cock 1 comprises a sealing gasket 50 surrounding at least one outlet opening 120, 130 and housed in the contact surface 140, the regulating disk 30 being arranged in a supported manner, pressed against said sealing gasket 50, the sealing gasket 50 ensuring tightness / airtightness between the regulating disk 30 and the contact surface 140, so as to ensure that when at least one regulating opening 31a, 31b and the corresponding outlet opening 120, 130 are arranged in fluid connection, there will only be a gas flow to at least one outlet pipe 12, 13.

[0042] Preferably, the actuator element 40 is axially held by a spring 52 which pushes the actuator element 40 at one end thereof and whose other end is supported in a cover 15 attached to the body 10, which closes the housing 14 of the body 10 in a leakproof / airtight manner. Preferably, the gas cock 1 comprises a lower support part 58 made of a low-friction material, such as nylon, which is arranged between the actuator element 40 and the spring 52. Preferably, the gas cock 1 also comprises an upper support part 58 arranged between the cover 15 and the spring 52.

[0043] Preferably, the gas cock 1 comprises a second sealing gasket 53 arranged between the body 10 and the cover 15 .

[0044] A second aspect of the present invention relates to a gas cooking appliance, comprising at least one gas cock 1 as described in the first aspect of the present invention.

[0045] Figures 1 to 9 A gas cock 1 according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown.

[0046] In a preferred embodiment, the gas cock 1 comprises a body 10, which comprises a safety pipe 19 in which a safety valve 20 is arranged and a gas inlet pipe 11 fluidly connected to the safety pipe 19. The body 10 also comprises two gas outlet pipes 12, 13 and a receiving portion 14 fluidly connected to the safety pipe 19 and the outlet pipes 12, 13. The receiving portion 14 comprises a contact surface 140, which comprises two outlet holes 120, 130, each of which is fluidly connected to the outlet pipes 12, 13 respectively. In addition, the safety pipe 19 comprises a seat 18, which comprises a passage opening 180 connecting the safety pipe 19 to the receiving portion 14 of the body 10.

[0047] In the preferred embodiment, the safety valve 20 is a normally closed solenoid valve. The safety valve 20 comprises a plug 21, which is configured to move between a closed position, in which the plug 21 is arranged on the seat 18 of the safety pipe 19, thereby preventing the flow of gas, and a passage position, in which the plug 21 is separated from the seat 18, thereby allowing the gas to flow from the inlet pipe 11 to the receiving portion 14 through the passage opening 180. The safety valve 20 comprises a spring 22 that keeps the plug 21 in the closed position. The initial opening of the safety valve 20 is performed by mechanically pushing the plug element 21 to separate it from the seat 18, and during a short predetermined period of time, the safety valve 20 is electronically powered to keep the safety valve 20 open. Once the said period of time has passed, when the burner associated with the gas cock is turned on, the corresponding thermocouple keeps the safety valve 20 energized and thus keeps the plug 21 in the passage position.

[0048] The gas cock 1 of the preferred embodiment further comprises an adjusting disk 30, which is arranged in the housing 14 of the body 10 on the contact surface 140. The adjusting disk 30 is configured to adjust the incoming gas flow from the inlet pipe 11 through the safety valve 20 to the outlet pipes 12, 13 by means of its rotation. To this end, the adjusting disk 30 comprises a first series of adjusting openings 31a for adjusting the gas flow from the housing 14 of the body 10 through the first outlet hole 120 to the first outlet pipe 12 and a second series of adjusting openings 31b for adjusting the gas flow from the housing 14 of the body 10 through the second outlet hole 130 to the second outlet pipe 13. The openings of the series of adjusting openings 31a, 31b form two rows of radial shapes with different radii, and the radius of the first series of adjusting openings 31a is greater than the radius of the second series of adjusting openings 31b. In order to obtain the desired gas flow rate / flow in the outlet pipes 12 and 13, a specific number of openings in the series of adjusting openings 31a, 31b of the adjusting disk 30 overlap with the outlet holes 120, 130.

[0049] The gas cock 1 of the preferred embodiment further includes a BLDC motor 80 disposed outside the receiving portion 14 of the body 10. The motor 80 includes an output shaft 81.

[0050] The gas cock 1 further comprises a gear coupled to the shaft 81 of the motor 80 and configured to transmit the movement of the motor 80 to the adjusting disk 30 .

[0051] The gas cock 1 of the preferred embodiment further comprises an actuator element 40, which is housed in the body 10 and is configured to open the safety valve 20 by its rotation. The actuator element 40 is a wheel comprising a plurality of teeth 41 arranged on a portion of the periphery of the actuator element 40, and the actuator element 40 is part of a gear. In this sense, the actuator element 40 is a partially toothed wheel, which is configured to open the safety valve 20 by its rotation in addition to being part of the gear that transmits the rotation of the shaft 81 of the motor 80 to the adjusting disk 30.

[0052] In a preferred embodiment, the gear is a “worm gear.” In this sense, the gear comprises a worm 60 coupled to a shaft 81 of a motor 80 , said worm 60 engaging with teeth 41 of an actuator element 40 .

[0053] In this preferred embodiment, the body 10 comprises an entry hole allowing the worm 60 to be introduced into the body 10. The worm 60 thus comprises a first end arranged outside the body 10, the first end being coupled to the shaft 81 of the motor, and the rest of the worm 60 being housed in the body 10, as in Figure 3 The gas cock 1 comprises a lip seal 56 arranged around the worm 60 and supported against the body 10 to seal the inlet hole and thus maintain the tightness / gas tightness of said inlet port.

[0054] In addition, if Figure 3 As shown in detail in FIG. 1 , the gas cock 1 of the preferred embodiment includes a first bushing 54 arranged behind the lip seal 56 and surrounding a first portion 61 of a worm 60, and a second bushing 55 arranged around a second portion 62 of the worm 60, with a toothed portion 63 of the worm 60 disposed between the first portion 61 and the second portion 62. The bushings 54, 55 are received in corresponding retaining receptacles of the body 10, so that the bushings 54, 55 keep the worm 60 centered and prevent it from radial displacement.

[0055] In a preferred embodiment of the gas cock 1, the actuator element 40 comprises a protrusion 42 arranged on the periphery of the actuator element 40 and protruding radially relative to the periphery of the actuator element 40. The protrusion 42 is configured to act on the plug element 21 of the safety valve 20 indirectly.

[0056] Furthermore, the gas cock 1 of the preferred embodiment includes a lever 70, which is arranged in the housing 14 and is rotatably fixed to the body 10 by a rotation axis 73. The lever 70 is configured to act on the plug element 21 of the safety valve 20 when the rotation of the actuator element 40 causes the protrusion 42 to act on the lever 70. The lever 70 includes a first radial extension 71 configured to cooperate with the actuator element 40 and a second radial extension 72 configured to cooperate with the safety valve 20, and the rotation axis 73 is arranged between the two radial extensions 71, 72. In this sense, the second radial extension 72 of the lever 70 is configured to act on the plug element 21 of the safety valve 20, so that the safety valve 20 is mechanically opened when the protrusion 42 of the actuator element 40 pushes the first radial extension 71 of the lever 70.

[0057] In the preferred embodiment, the lever 70 includes a rectangular prism-shaped central portion 74, a first radial extension 71 vertically extending from the vicinity of one of the ends of the central portion 74, and a second radial extension 72 vertically extending from the vicinity of the opposite end of the central portion 74. The first radial extension 71 is disposed perpendicularly to the second radial extension 72. The first radial extension includes a hole through which the rotation shaft 73 passes.

[0058] As mentioned above, the worm gear allows the speed to be reduced by significantly increasing the output torque of the motor 80. Furthermore, the use of the lever 70 as an intermediate element between the actuator element 40 and the plug 21 also increases the force exerted on said plug 21. Thus, due to the type of gear used and the lever 70 used as an intermediate element, a motor 80 with a low output torque and therefore inexpensive can be used to actuate the gas cock 1.

[0059] In a preferred embodiment of the gas cock 1, the adjusting disk 30 is coupled to the actuator element 40 so that the two components rotate integrally, the actuator element 40 being the component that directly transmits the rotation to the adjusting disk 30. To this end, the actuator element 40 comprises a central protrusion 43, and the adjusting disk 30 comprises a central hole 32 of a shape complementary to the central protrusion 43 of the actuator element 40, the central protrusion 43 being received in the central hole 32 so that the two components rotate integrally. The body 10 comprises a central hole 16, the shaft 51 is arranged in the central hole 16, and the central protrusion 43 of the actuator element comprises a central hole 430, the central hole 430 passes through the shaft 51, so that the actuator element 40 is configured to rotate relative to the shaft 51.

[0060] Furthermore, in a preferred embodiment of the gas cock 1 , the actuator element 40 comprises three pressure elements 44 extending vertically from a surface 400 of the actuator element 40 arranged facing the adjusting disk 30 , said pressure elements 44 being configured to press the adjusting disk 30 against the contact surface 140 .
