Description

Technical Field

[0001] This application claims priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2022-0186694 filed in Korea on December 28, 2022, and Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0107852 filed in Korea on August 17, 2023, the disclosures of which are incorporated herein by reference.

[0002] The present disclosure relates to a battery pack and a vehicle including the same, and more particularly, to a battery pack capable of guiding uniform distribution of cooling liquid and a vehicle including the same. Background Art

[0003] Secondary batteries have high applicability according to product groups and electrical characteristics such as high energy density, and are therefore generally applied not only to portable devices but also to electric vehicles (EVs) or hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) driven by electric power sources. Such secondary batteries are gaining attention as a new energy source to improve eco-friendliness and energy efficiency, because they not only have the main advantage of significantly reducing the use of fossil fuels, but also have no byproducts generated by the use of energy.

[0004] Currently widely used secondary batteries include lithium-ion batteries, lithium polymer batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, nickel-zinc batteries, etc. The operating voltage of a unit secondary battery cell (i.e., a unit battery cell) is about 2.5V to 4.5V. Therefore, if a higher output voltage is required, a plurality of battery cells can be connected in series to configure a battery pack. In addition, depending on the charge / discharge capacity required by the battery pack, a plurality of battery cells can be connected in parallel to configure a battery pack. Therefore, the number of battery cells included in the battery pack can be set in various ways according to the required output voltage or the required charge / discharge capacity.

[0005] Furthermore, when a plurality of battery cells are connected in series or in parallel to configure a battery pack, a battery module including at least one battery cell is generally configured first, and then a battery pack or a battery rack is configured by using such at least one battery module and adding other components.

[0006] In the case of a conventional battery pack, it is configured to include a battery module including a plurality of battery cells and a battery pack case accommodating the battery module. Here, the battery module includes battery cells and may be provided with a plurality of cooling tubes through which a cooling liquid flows to cool the battery cells.

[0007] However, in the case of a conventional battery pack, when cooling liquid is supplied to a plurality of cooling tubes, it is difficult to uniformly distribute the cooling liquid to each cooling tube, resulting in uneven flow of the cooling liquid, thereby causing a problem of deteriorating cooling performance. [0051] When used herein, the term “coupled” or “connected” refers not only to a case where one member is directly coupled or directly connected to another member, but also to a case where one member is indirectly coupled or indirectly connected to another member through a coupling member.

[0052] Throughout the specification, when a part “includes” components, it means that the part may further include other components rather than excluding other components, unless explicitly described otherwise.

[0053] Figure 1 is an overall perspective view of a battery pack according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, Figure 2 It is shown Figure 1 A three-dimensional view of the interior of Figure 3 yes Figure 2 An enlarged view of part A in FIG. Figure 4 is an exploded perspective view of a battery pack according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, and Figure 5 is an exploded perspective view of a battery module in a battery pack according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0054] Reference Figures 1 to 5 , a battery pack 10 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may include a battery module 100 , a battery pack case 200 , and a cooling liquid distributing member 300 .

[0055] Reference Figure 5 , the battery module 100 includes a plurality of battery cells 110. Also, the battery module 100 includes a plurality of cooling pipes 120. The plurality of cooling pipes 120 are disposed between the plurality of battery cells 110, and a cooling liquid for cooling the battery cells 110 flows through the cooling pipes 120. Also, the battery module 100 may include a module case for accommodating the battery cells 110.

[0056] The battery cell 110 may be provided in various types. For example, the battery cell 110 may include a square battery cell (not shown) or a pouch-type battery cell (not shown). The pouch-type battery cell may have a structure in which a unit cell arranged in the order of a positive plate-diaphragm-negative plate or a bi-battery arranged in the order of a positive plate-diaphragm-negative plate-diaphragm-positive plate-diaphragm-negative plate is stacked in multiples according to the battery capacity. In addition, the pouch-type battery cell may have an electrode lead. The electrode lead is a terminal that is exposed to the outside and connected to an external device, and may be made of a conductive material. The electrode lead may include a positive lead and a negative lead.

[0057] Alternatively, if Figures 2 to 5 As shown, the battery cell 110 may include a cylindrical battery cell. That is, the battery cell 110 provided in the battery pack 10 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may vary, but for ease of description, the following description will focus on the case where the battery cell 110 is a cylindrical battery cell.

[0058] A cylindrical battery cell may include an electrode assembly, a battery can, a positive current collector plate, a cell terminal, and a negative current collector plate.

[0059] The electrode assembly includes a positive plate, a negative plate and a separator, and the separator is interposed between the positive plate and the negative plate. Also, it can be prepared in a cake roll type, in which a central hole is formed by winding in one direction while the separator is interposed between the positive plate and the negative plate.

[0060] For example, the electrode assembly can be manufactured by winding at least once a laminate formed by stacking a negative electrode plate, a separator, a positive electrode plate, and a separator in sequence. Here, the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate can be formed in a sheet shape. That is, the electrode assembly can be a wound electrode assembly. The electrode assembly can have any winding structure known in the related art without limitation.

[0061] The positive electrode active material is applied on one or both sides of the positive electrode plate, and the negative electrode active material is applied on one or both sides of the negative electrode plate. The positive electrode active material coated on the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode active material coated on the negative electrode plate can be used without limitation as long as they are active materials known in the art.

[0062] Also, as the separator, a porous polymer film, for example, a porous polymer film made of a polyolefin polymer such as ethylene homopolymer, propylene homopolymer, ethylene / butene copolymer, ethylene / hexene copolymer, ethylene / methacrylate copolymer, etc., may be used alone or by stacking them. As another example, the separator may be a conventional porous nonwoven fabric, for example, a nonwoven fabric made of high melting point glass fiber, polyethylene terephthalate fiber, etc.

[0063] At least one surface of the separator may include a coating of inorganic particles. The separator itself may be made of a coating of inorganic particles. The particles constituting the coating may have a structure coupled to a binder such that there is an interstitial volume between adjacent particles.

[0064] The battery can is formed in a cylindrical shape to accommodate the electrode assembly in the battery can and can be electrically connected to the negative electrode plate of the electrode assembly. Therefore, the battery can may have the same polarity as the negative electrode plate (ie, negative electrode), but is not limited thereto.

[0065] Also, a gap of a predetermined size is formed between the battery can and the electrode assembly (between the battery can and the positive current collector plate when the positive current collector plate is coupled to the electrode assembly), and an insulator may be interposed between the gap. The battery can may be made of a conductive metal such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, etc., but is not limited thereto.

[0066] The positive current collector plate is electrically connected to the positive plate, and, for example, the positive current collector plate may be connected to the positive plate at the top of the electrode assembly.

[0067] The cell terminal is made of a conductive metal material and is electrically connected to the positive current collector plate. Also, the cell terminal is electrically connected to the positive plate of the electrode assembly through the positive current collector plate, thereby having a positive polarity. That is, the cell terminal can be used as a positive terminal.

[0068] The negative current collector plate is electrically connected to the negative electrode plate. The negative current collector plate may be made of a conductive metal material such as aluminum, steel, copper, nickel, and the like.

[0069] Reference Figure 5 , the cooling pipe 120 is provided in plurality. The cooling pipe 120 may be provided in various pipe shapes so that the cooling liquid for cooling the battery cell 110 flows. Also, a plurality of cooling pipes 120 are provided between a plurality of battery cells 110. In this case, one cooling pipe 120 may cool the battery cells 110 respectively contacting both sides. Also, the liquid flowing through the cooling pipe 120 may vary, and may be water, for example, but is not limited thereto. The cooling liquid may be supplied from the liquid supply member 500 (see Figure 6 ) supply, and the liquid supply component 500 can be connected to the cooling liquid distribution component 300.

[0070] Advantageously, the cooling liquid flowing through each of the plurality of cooling tubes 120 flows uniformly to improve cooling performance. Figure 2 and Figure 3 When the cooling pipe 120 is provided in plural, the cooling liquid distributing member 300 is coupled to the cooling pipe 120 for uniformity of cooling of the battery cells 110 .

[0071] The cooling pipe 120 may be coupled to the cooling liquid distribution member 300 in various ways, and for example, the cooling pipe 120 and the cooling liquid distribution member 300 may be connected in contact with each other (see Fig. 9 and Fig.10 ). That is, the cooling pipe 120 and the coupling portion 311 of the distribution pipe 310 of the cooling liquid distribution member 300 are connected in contact with each other.

[0072] Also, a sealing ring member 400 may be provided to surround the outer sides of the cooling liquid distributing member 300 and the cooling pipe 120. This will be described in detail later.

[0073] Reference Figure 2 and Figure 4 , the battery pack case 200 accommodates the battery module 100. To this end, a receiving space for accommodating the battery module 100 may be provided in the battery pack case 200. Also, various devices for controlling the charge / discharge of the battery cell 110 (such as a BMS, a current sensor, a fuse, etc.) may be accommodated in the battery pack case 200 or coupled to the battery pack case 200. Also, a battery pack lead may be coupled to the battery pack case 200.

[0074] Figure 6 is an exploded perspective view of a cooling liquid distribution member in a battery pack according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, and Figure 7 It is shown Figure 6 View of the flow of cooling liquid.

[0075] The cooling liquid distributing member 300 distributes the cooling liquid toward the plurality of cooling tubes 120. Here, it is preferable that the cooling liquid distributing member 300 uniformly distributes the cooling liquid to each of the plurality of cooling tubes 120.

[0076] Reference Figure 6 , the cooling liquid distributing member 300 may be configured to include a distributing pipe 310 and a connecting pipe 320. The distributing pipe 310 has a plurality of coupling portions 311, each of which is coupled to a plurality of cooling pipes 120. The plurality of coupling portions 311 may be formed on the distributing pipe 310 in parallel.

[0077] The coupling portion 311 may be formed in various ways, and for example, its cross section may be formed in a circular shape, but is not limited thereto. Also, if necessary, the cross section of the coupling portion 311 may be formed in more various shapes, such as a rectangle, a triangle, or other shapes. Here, the interior of the coupling portion 311 is empty, and the cooling liquid may move through the interior of the coupling portion 311.

[0078] Also, the plurality of coupling portions 311 may be spaced apart from each other to have a predetermined interval, and the cooling liquid flowing through the distribution pipe 310 moves to the cooling pipe 120 through the plurality of coupling portions 311 .

[0079] The coupling portion 311 is formed to protrude from an end of the dispensing pipe 310 , wherein the coupling portion 311 may be integrally formed with the dispensing pipe 310 , or may be manufactured separately from the dispensing pipe 310 and then coupled to the dispensing pipe 310 .

[0080] Reference Figure 6 and Figure 7 , the distribution pipe 310 is connected to the connection pipe 320 , and the cooling liquid supplied from the liquid supply member 500 moves to the distribution pipe 310 through the connection pipe 320 .

[0081] The connecting tube 320 connects the dispensing tube 310 and the liquid supply member 500. Here, the connecting tube 320 may be connected to the dispensing tube 310 through the tube connection port 330. That is, the tube connection port 330 connects the dispensing tube 310 and the connecting tube 320. Also, the connecting tube 320 may be connected to the liquid supply member 500 through the connector 350. That is, the connector 350 connects the liquid supply member 500 and the connecting tube 320.

[0082] The connection pipe 320 may include a first connection pipe 321 and a second connection pipe 322. The first connection pipe 321 may be coupled to the liquid supply member 500 through the connector 350. And, the second connection pipe 322 may be connected to the dispensing pipe 310 through the pipe connection port 330.

[0083] In addition, the second connection pipe 322 may be connected to the first connection pipe 321 through the multi-port 340. That is, the multi-port 340 connects the first connection pipe 321 and the second connection pipe 322.

[0084] The multiport 340 may vary, and for example may be configured as a 3-way port, such as Figure 6 Here, the 3-way port may be configured to connect one first connection pipe 321 and two second connection pipes 322. For example, the two second connection pipes 322 may be connected to the 3-way port on both sides relative to the 3-way port, respectively, and one first connection pipe 321 provided in a direction crossing the two second connection pipes 322 may be connected to the 3-way port. However, this is only one embodiment.

[0085] Figure 8 is a perspective view of a battery module in a battery pack according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, Fig. 9 yes Figure 8 A cross-sectional view of a cooling liquid distribution member and a sealing ring member of part B in FIG. Fig.10 yes Figure 8 A cross-sectional view of the local structure of part B in FIG. Fig.11 yes Fig.10 , and Fig.12 is a partial cross-sectional perspective view of a sealing ring member in a battery pack according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0086] Reference Figures 8 to 12 , the sealing ring member 400 is disposed to surround the outer sides of the cooling liquid distribution member 300 and the cooling pipe 120. Specifically, the sealing ring member 400 is disposed to surround the coupling portion 311 of the distribution pipe 310 of the cooling liquid distribution member 300 and the cooling pipe 120 to prevent leakage of the cooling liquid. That is, the gap between the coupling portion 311 of the distribution pipe 310 and the cooling pipe 120 is sealed for sealing. The sealing ring member 400 may be formed to have different widths, thicknesses, etc. according to the required performance.

[0087] The sealing ring member 400 may be made of various materials, such as various elastic materials. Specifically, the sealing ring member 400 may be made of various types of rubber, but is not limited thereto.

[0088] Reference Fig.12 The sealing ring member 400 may be configured to include a main body portion 410 and an extension portion 420 .

[0089] A cavity 411 may be formed in the body portion 410. Also, referring to Fig.10 The cooling pipe 120 is inserted into the cavity 411 through one side of the main body 410 , the connecting portion 311 of the distribution pipe 310 is inserted through the other side of the main body 410 , and the cooling pipe 120 and the connecting portion 311 contact each other on the inner side of the main body 410 of the sealing ring member 400 .

[0090] The extension part 420 is formed to protrude from both ends of the body part 410. The extension part 420 may be formed to expand outward from the ends of the body part 410. Here, when the extension part 420 has a shape expanding outward from the body part 410, the cooling pipe 120 and the coupling part 311 may be easily inserted into the body part 410 of the sealing ring member 400.

[0091] Reference Fig.12 , the inner side of the body portion 410 of the sealing ring member 400 may have a flat shape without forming a protrusion or a groove. However, the protrusion 313 may be formed on the outer side of the coupling portion 311 of the dispensing pipe 310.

[0092] Fig.13 yes Fig.12 A cross-sectional view of a modified embodiment of a sealing ring member, and Fig.14 is a Fig.13 A cross-sectional view of a cooling liquid distribution member in the shape of a sealing ring member.

[0093] Reference Fig.13 , the locking protrusion 412 may be formed on the inner side of the body portion 410. Also, referring to Fig.14 The locking groove 312 may be formed at the outer side of the coupling portion 311 of the distribution pipe 310 of the cooling liquid distribution member 300. Although not shown in the drawings, a locking groove (not shown) may also be formed at the outer side of the cooling pipe 120.

[0094] When the cooling pipe 120 and the connecting part 311 are inserted into the main body 410 of the sealing ring member 400, the locking protrusion 412 formed on the inner side of the main body 410 can be connected and fixed to the locking groove 312 on the outer side of the connecting part 311 or the locking groove on the outer side of the cooling pipe 120 (not shown).

[0095] Here, the locking protrusion 412 formed at the inner side of the body part 410 may be formed to be inclined from both ends of the inner side of the body part 410 toward the central part, but is not limited thereto.

[0096] In addition, as a modified embodiment, a locking groove (not shown) can be formed on the inner side of the main body portion 410, and a locking protrusion (not shown) can also be formed on the outer side of the connecting portion 311 of the distribution pipe 310 or the outer side of the cooling pipe 120.
