AI Technical Summary
The existing wooden barrels are manufactured with high cost and short service life for beverages such as aged wine. Traditional wooden barrels become ‘oak neutral’ after losing the chemical ability to impart liquid flavor, resulting in rapid devaluation.
Design a container component, including container subject, inserting component holder components and key locks, container components can selectively accept and maintain flavor plugs, insert components to keep the components rotating to the container main body, key lock selectively selectively manifestated manifestation. Connect to the inserting component component to inhibit the relative rotation between it and the container subject.
Through this design, the liquid flavor can be maintained during the period of liquid aging, extending the service life of the container, avoiding rapid depreciation, and increasing the return on investment manufacturers.

Description
[0001] Related Applications
[0002] This application is related to and claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 63 / 467,912, filed on May 19, 2023, entitled “IMPROVED CONTAINER ASSEMBLY FORAGING A LIQUID”. To the extent permitted, the contents of U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 63 / 467,912 are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety.
[0003] background
[0004] Wooden barrels are commonly used to age wine and other beverages. Unfortunately, wooden barrels are relatively expensive to manufacture and have a relatively short lifespan. For example, high-end wooden barrels used only for the finest wines are often made from French oak, which is very expensive. Furthermore, the chemical ability of wood to influence and impart nuances of flavor quickly wears out, and a barrel is typically only considered at its best for two to three years or one to two vintages. Once a traditional wooden barrel has exhausted its chemical ability to impart flavor to a liquid, i.e., becomes "oak neutral," the traditional wooden barrel is typically sold on the secondary market or used for lower quality beverages. This creates a rapidly depreciating asset and investment for beverage manufacturers.
[0005] Recently, more and more beverage manufacturers have turned to metal containers, such as those made from materials such as stainless steel, for aging beverages, which do not impart flavor to the beverage. There is a continuing desire to improve containers used for aging liquids in beverage production.

[0102] Figure 1A 1 is a partially exploded, top perspective schematic diagram of a portion of an embodiment of a container assembly 10 having features of the present invention. The size, shape, and number of components in the container assembly 10 may vary to accommodate the design requirements of the container assembly 10. In various embodiments, the container assembly 10 includes one or more of the following: (i) a container body 12 configured to hold a liquid 13 for aging (in Figure 2B 1 and 12. The container body 12 defines a chamber 12A (shown as a plurality of circles in FIG. Figure 1B 1 and 2, wherein the chamber 12A receives and holds the liquid 13 during the aging process; (ii) a liquid temperature control system 14 (also referred to herein as a "temperature controller") coupled to the container body 12 and configured to control and / or regulate the temperature of the liquid 13 being aged within the container body 12; and (iii) an insert holder assembly 16 (shown in Figure 1B ), which is positioned substantially within the container body 12, the insert holder assembly 16 is configured to hold a plurality of flavor inserts 18 (in Figure 7 (iv) a key lock assembly 20 (shown in Figure 1A (only partially shown in the figure), which is configured to selectively inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12; (v) the cover door assembly 30; and (vi) the mounting assembly 50, which is configured to connect the connector assembly 540 (such as Figure 5B ) and thus the insert holder assembly 16 is mounted to the container body 12. Alternatively, the container assembly 10 may include more or less components than shown and described herein without departing from the intended breadth and scope of the present invention.
[0103] As an overview, the present invention provides various advantages over container assemblies currently on the market. For example, in various embodiments, the key lock assembly 20, the insert holder assembly 16, the temperature controller 14, and the cover door assembly 30 all have unique designs that provide significant advantages over conventional container assemblies currently on the market.
[0104] Specifically, the key lock assembly 20 is uniquely configured to selectively inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12. When aging the liquid 13 within the container body 12, it is generally desirable that the flavor insert 18 remain in place within the liquid 13 in order to impart any desired flavor to the liquid 13, even when the container body 12 is only partially filled with the liquid 13. However, when the container body 12 is positioned on its side, as is typically done, the components of the insert holder assembly 16 will generally be positioned due to gravity with the heavier portion oriented in a generally downward direction toward the liquid 13. The heavier component will generally include a paddle (not shown) that is substantially heavier than the flavor insert 18 and includes alignment brackets 542, 544 (e.g., 546) that cooperate to retain the flavor insert 18. Figure 5B as shown) and retainer frame 545 (as shown Figure 1B Thus, if the positioning of the flavor insert 18 and the components of the insert holder assembly 16 cannot be controlled, the weight of the paddle can easily cause the flavor insert 18 to not be positioned as desired within the liquid 13. Therefore, as described herein, the ability to selectively inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 (and therefore the flavor insert 18) and the container body 12 with the key lock assembly 20 enables an operator to ensure that the flavor insert 18 remains in place within the liquid 13 during the aging process. In addition, as further described herein, due to the sampling aperture 540A (as shown in FIG. Figure 5B The sampling hole 540A extends through the connector assembly 540 (as shown) to inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12, further enabling the operator to obtain a sample of the liquid 13 during the aging process. Figure 5B ), the connector assembly couples the insert retainer assembly 16 to the container body 12.
[0105] In addition, the insert holder assembly 16 is uniquely configured to effectively receive and retain flavor inserts 18 of varying thicknesses. Depending on the liquid 13 that is aged within the container body 12, it will be appreciated that different liquids 13 have different desired aging time ranges. For example, it is recognized that certain liquids 13 are aged for longer periods of time and therefore require larger (thicker) flavor inserts 18 so that the flavor insert 18 continues to impart flavor to the liquid 13 during the aging process. As described in detail herein, the insert holder assembly 16 includes an insert holder 748 (e.g., Figure 7), which is capable of receiving and retaining (and frictionally engaging) flavor inserts 18 of varying thicknesses. Thus, the same container assembly 10 can be used to age different liquids 13 for different periods of time without requiring the insert holder assembly 16 and / or the insert holder 748 to be changed from one use to the next. Instead, the container assembly 10 need only be cleaned prior to subsequent use.
[0106] In addition, the temperature controller 14 is uniquely configured to help the operator maintain the liquid 13 in the container body 12 at a desired temperature during the aging process. Specifically, as described in detail herein, the temperature controller 14 utilizes a fluid circulation belt 236 (e.g., Figure 2A As shown), the fluid circulation belt 236 and the fluid source 234 (as shown Figure 2A ) is fluidically connected so that the fluid 234F (as shown) from the fluid source 234 Figure 2A The fluid 234F is circulated through the fluid circulation belt 236. The temperature of the fluid 234F can be adjusted (cooled or heated as needed) so that the fluid 234F circulating through the fluid circulation belt 236 can effectively control the temperature of the liquid 13 in the container body 12 during the aging process.
[0107] Furthermore, the cover door assembly 30 is uniquely configured to prevent the cover door 1480 (e.g. Fig.14A ) accidentally falls into the liquid 13 being aged in the container body 12. FIG. 14A to FIG. 14C Certain embodiments of the cover door assembly 30 are described in detail.
[0108] exist Figure 1A In the illustrated embodiment, the container body 12 is generally barrel-shaped, having a tubular sidewall 22, a disc-shaped bottom 24, and a substantially disc-shaped top 26. In some embodiments, the sidewall 22 may include a plurality of body members, such as a first (upper) body member 22A and a second (lower) body member 22B, which may be welded or otherwise secured together during the manufacturing process of the container body 12. In addition, during the manufacturing process, the bottom 24 may be welded or otherwise secured to the sidewall 22 in a sealing manner, or may be integrally formed with the sidewall 22; and the top 26 may be secured to the sidewall 22 in a sealing manner. Alternatively, the container body 12 may have another suitable design and / or another suitable shape. For example, in certain alternative embodiments, the sidewall 22 may be formed as a single, unitary body member.
[0109] It should be understood that the specific identification of the first body member 22A and the second body member 22B is only for convenience, and any one of the body members 22A, 22B, namely the upper body member 22A and the lower body member 22B, can be referred to as the "first body member" or the "second body member".
[0110] As shown, the container body 12 may also include one or more reinforcing bands 27, which may be positioned around and adjacent to the sidewall 22 to enhance the overall strength and structural stability of the container body 12. In one embodiment, as shown, the container body 12 may include three reinforcing bands 27, which may be positioned around and adjacent to the sidewall 22 and substantially parallel to the top 26 and bottom 24 of the container body 12. More specifically, the container body 12 may include: a first reinforcing band 27, which is positioned around and adjacent to the sidewall 22 toward and / or near the top 26 of the container body 12; a second reinforcing band 27, which is positioned around and adjacent to the sidewall 22 toward and / or near the bottom 24 of the container body 12; and a third reinforcing band 27, which is positioned around and adjacent to the sidewall 22 toward and / or near the middle of the container body 12. Alternatively, the container body 12 may include one, two, or more than three reinforcing bands 27 that may be positioned around and adjacent to the sidewall 22 and substantially parallel to the top 26 and bottom 24 of the container body 12. Any reinforcing bands 27 may also be included as part of the temperature controller 14, as described herein.
[0111] As shown, the top 26 can include an insert opening 28 extending through the top 26 of the container body 12. The insert opening 28 can provide selective access to the liquid 13 retained within the container body 12 during the aging process. The insert opening 28 can also provide an entry point for inserting the flavor insert 18 into the chamber 12A defined by the container body 12, or removing the flavor insert 18 from the chamber 12A, as described herein.
[0112] In addition, the container assembly 10 may also include a cover door assembly 30 for selectively opening and closing (and sealing) access to the insert opening 28. In other words, the cover door assembly 30 is selectively movable between a closed position, in which the insert opening 28 is closed and sealed so that the liquid 13 and the flavor insert 18 are sealed within the container body 12, and an open position, in which the insert opening 28 is open and accessible to provide any desired access to the liquid 13 and / or the flavor insert 18, which are retained within the container body 12 during the aging process. For example, one or more flavor inserts 18 may be positioned within the container body 12 through the insert opening 28.
[0113] Figure 1A Further shown is a seal 29, which may be included as part of the container assembly 10 and / or the lid door assembly 30. In some embodiments, the seal 29 is configured to be positioned substantially between the top 26 and the lid door 80 of the lid door assembly 30, and adjacent to and surrounding the insert opening 28. The seal 29 may have a size and shape that generally corresponds to the size and shape of the insert opening 28. With such a design, when the lid door assembly 30 and / or the lid door 80 are in the closed position, the seal 29 is configured to effectively seal the insert opening 28, such that the liquid 13 and the flavor insert 18 are sealed within the container body 12.
[0114] Brief reference Figure 1B , Figure 1B yes Figure 1A 1 is a schematic, partially exploded top perspective view of a portion of the container assembly 10 shown in FIG. Figure 1B Certain features and aspects of the container assembly 10 are more clearly shown. For example, Figure 1B Again, the container body 12 may include a substantially tubular sidewall 22 , a disc-shaped bottom 24 , and a substantially disc-shaped top 26 . Figure 1B It is also clearly shown that the sidewall 22 may include a first (upper) body member 22A and a second (lower) body member 22B, which may be welded or otherwise secured together during the manufacturing process of the container body 12. In some embodiments, during the manufacturing process of the container body 12, at the location where the first body member 22A and the second body member 22B are welded or otherwise secured together, one of the reinforcing bands 27 may be positioned around and adjacent to the sidewall 22. Such positioning of one of the reinforcing bands 27 helps to better provide the desired strength and support for the joint between the first body member 22A and the second body member 22B. Figure 1B Also shown is a chamber 12A defined within the container body 12, which receives and retains the liquid 13 (e.g., Figure 2B shown).
[0115] Some components of the temperature controller 14 are also Figure 1B However, these components of the temperature controller 14 are more clearly shown in other figures and will be described in detail with reference to these other figures.
[0116] As mentioned above, Figure 1B Also shown are portions of an insert holder assembly 16 that is positioned substantially within the container body 12 and is configured to hold a plurality of flavor inserts 18 (eg, Figure 7), to impart flavor to the liquid 13 during the aging process. Various features and aspects of different embodiments of the insert holder assembly 16 will be described in detail below.
[0117] Back again Figure 1A As described above, the temperature controller 14 is coupled to the container body 12 and is configured to control and / or regulate the temperature of the liquid 13 aged within the container body 12. Various features and aspects of different embodiments of the temperature controller 14 will be described in detail below.
[0118] In some embodiments, the flavor insert 18 can be selectively positioned in and / or removed from the container body 12 through the insert opening 28. More specifically, in some embodiments, the insert holder assembly 16 (e.g., Figure 1B ) can be rotated relative to the container body 12 so that each flavor insert 18 (as shown Figure 7 1 (shown) can be inserted into the container body 12 through the insert opening 28 to be received and held in place within the insert holder assembly 16. Additionally, and / or in the alternative, in other embodiments, the flavor insert 18 can be inserted into and / or removed from the container body 12 when the top 26 is not secured to the sidewall 22 of the container body 12.
[0119] Reference now Figure 1C , Figure 1C yes Figure 1A A perspective schematic diagram of a portion of the container assembly 10 shown in FIG. Figure 1C As shown, the container assembly 10 may also include a rotator 31 that may be coupled to the insert holder assembly 16 (eg, Figure 1B ), for selectively rotating the insert holder assembly 16 and the flavor insert 18 (as shown) within and relative to the container body 12 Figure 7 Utilizing the present design, the rotator 31 can be used to selectively rotate the insert holder assembly 16 and the flavor insert 18 without opening the container body 12, wherein the chamber 12A (eg, Figure 1B ) is sealed, and chamber 12A is filled with liquid 13 (as shown Figure 2B shown).
[0120] In one embodiment, the rotator 31 may be a knob that can be manually and selectively rotated by a user. Alternatively, the rotator 31 may include a handle or some other device to enable a user to manually and selectively rotate the insert holder assembly 16, thereby rotating the flavor insert 18, as the liquid 13 ages. Additionally, and / or alternatively, the rotator 31 may include a motor (not shown) that enables a user to automatically rotate the insert holder assembly 16 and the flavor insert 18 within the chamber 12A.
[0121] One purpose of rotating the insert holder assembly 16 and the flavor insert 18 using the rotator 31 is that this operation effectively stirs the liquid 13 in the chamber 12A. This operation is easy to perform when the container body 12 is in any orientation horizontally, vertically, or horizontally and vertically. This stirring process is sometimes referred to as "stirring the sediment", and this stirring is often required during the aging process of wine and spirits. For example, some winemakers stir the sediment every two to four weeks. In some embodiments, a paddle (not shown) can be further incorporated into the insert holder assembly 16 to better stir the liquid 13 in the chamber 12A during the rotation of the insert holder assembly 16 and the flavor insert 18 relative to the container body 12.
[0122] In certain alternative embodiments, such as for larger container bodies, the container assembly 10 may be modified so that while the container body 12 remains substantially horizontal during aging, additional components may be added to allow the container body 12 to rotate relative to the insert holder assembly 16, which is effectively held in a fixed position. Such rotation of the container body 12 relative to the insert holder assembly 16 and the flavor insert 18 may also effectively agitate the liquid 13 retained in the chamber 12A during aging. Alternatively still, the container body 12 and the insert holder assembly 16 may rotate simultaneously to agitate the liquid 13.
[0123] Figure 1C Also shown is a top 26 of the container body 12, as well as an insert opening 28 extending through the top 26 of the container body 12, and a cover door assembly 30 for selectively opening and closing (and sealing) access to the insert opening 28. Various features and aspects of different embodiments of the cover door assembly 30 will be described in detail below.
[0124] Figure 1C Also shown is a key lock assembly 20 that is selectively coupled to the container body 12 and / or the insert holder assembly 16 and is configured to selectively inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12. Various features and aspects of different embodiments of the key lock assembly 20 will be described in detail below.
[0125] Back again Figure 1A As described above, the container body 12 defines a chamber 12A (eg, Figure 1B ). In certain non-exclusive alternative embodiments, chamber 12A is sized and shaped to hold approximately 5, 10, 25, 55, 100, 500, 1000, 2500, or 5000 gallons of liquid. However, chamber 12A may be larger or smaller than any particularly illustrated size.
[0126] In some embodiments, the container body 12 may also include a bunghole 32 positioned within and / or extending through the container body 12. The bunghole 32 is adapted to receive a pipe or other conduit (not shown) that may be used to fill the chamber 12A with liquid 13, pump or otherwise remove the liquid 13 from the chamber 12A, or load the chamber 12A with liquid 13. In alternative embodiments, the bunghole 32 may be positioned in the sidewall 22, the bottom 24, or the top 26 of the container body 12.
[0127] In addition, as shown, the barrel hole 32 can be selectively closed and / or sealed by using the barrel hole sealing assembly 33. The barrel hole sealing assembly 33 can have any suitable design so as to effectively close and seal the barrel hole 32 when it is not desired that the liquid 13 enter the chamber 12A through the barrel hole 32. For example, in some embodiments, the barrel hole sealing assembly 33 can include a barrel hole seal 33A, a sealing support 33B (e.g., an annular metal disk in some embodiments) and a clamp 33C, and the barrel hole seal 33A, the sealing support 33B and the clamp 33C cooperate to selectively close and seal the barrel hole 32. Alternatively, the barrel hole sealing assembly 33 can have another suitable design.
[0128] As described herein, the container assembly 10 can be used to impart flavor to the liquid 13 during the aging process, such as by using the flavor insert 18. In addition, the container assembly 10 can be used to introduce trace oxygen (i.e., small amounts of oxygen) into the liquid 13 during the aging process by using an oxygenator (not shown), which can be positioned at any suitable location within the container body 12, such as substantially adjacent to the insert holder assembly 16 (e.g., Figure 1B ). In one embodiment, the container assembly 10 allows for complete control over the aging of the liquid 13, including optimal handling and aging opportunities for the liquid 13. In other words, the container assembly 10 can be used to accurately create the perfect environment for aging the liquid 13, so that the highest quality beverage can be obtained. In addition, the container assembly 10 can be easily adjusted for use with different types of liquids, and the container assembly 10 can be adjusted during the aging process to change the aging process if necessary.
[0129] The type of liquid 13 aged in the container assembly 10 may vary. For example, in certain non-exclusive embodiments, the liquid 13 may be red wine, white wine, port, whiskey, bourbon, brandy, or other beverage.
[0130] In some embodiments, the container body 12 may be made of a material that does not impart flavor to the liquid 13 (e.g., a stainless steel material in such an embodiment) and that does not allow oxygen to be naturally introduced into the liquid 13. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the container body 12 may be made of a wood material or some other suitable food-grade material.
[0131] Figure 2A yes Figure 1A 1 is a simplified side view schematic diagram of a portion of a container assembly 10 shown in FIG. 1 , which includes a liquid temperature control system 14 having features of the present invention. As described above, the temperature controller 14 can be coupled to the container body 12 and is configured to control and / or regulate the liquid 13 (e.g., liquid 13) aged within the container body 12. Figure 2B shown).
[0132] Figure 2A Again, the container body 12 may include a side wall 22 including a first (upper) body member 22A and a second (lower) body member 22B, a bottom 24 and a top 26. The reinforcement band 27 is also provided at Figure 2A Shown in.
[0133] exist Figure 2A In the illustrated embodiment, the temperature controller 14 includes a fluid source 234 (shown as a box) that holds a fluid 234F (shown as a series of small circles), and one or more fluid circulation bands 236 that are positioned substantially adjacent to the container body 12 and in fluid communication with the fluid source 234. In some embodiments, the fluid circulation bands 236 can be positioned to substantially surround the container body 12.
[0134] In this embodiment, two reinforcement bands 27 are configured to serve a dual purpose of providing additional strength and structural integrity to the vessel body 12 and acting as fluid circulation bands 236 as part of the temperature controller 14 .
[0135] The fluid source 234 can hold any suitable type of fluid that can be used to control and / or adjust the temperature of the liquid 13 held in the container body 12. For example, in a non-exclusive embodiment, the fluid source 234 can include ethylene glycol. Alternatively, the fluid source 234 can include another suitable fluid 234F. It should be understood that the fluid source 234 can also include a temperature regulator 234A (such as a temperature cooler or a temperature heater) that adjusts the temperature of the fluid 234F from the fluid source 234. It should also be understood that the fluid source 234 can provide the fluid to the fluid circulation belt 236, which is designed to provide a cooling source for the liquid 13 held in the container body 12, or is designed to provide a heating source for the liquid 13 held in the container body 12. Therefore, it can be understood that the fluid 234F in the fluid source 234 can be maintained at any suitable or desired temperature so as to control and / or adjust the temperature of the liquid 13 held in the container body 12 in a desired manner.
[0136] The fluid circulation band 236 can have any suitable size and shape. For example, in some embodiments, the fluid circulation band 236 can include a band body 338 that is substantially annular and has a substantially "C"-shaped cross-section, and the band body 338 can be welded to the surface 12A (e.g., the outer surface) of the container body 12 to form a fluid chamber 338A (e.g., Figure 2B ), the fluid chamber 338A is configured to circulate the fluid 234F from the fluid source 234 through it. In other embodiments, the fluid circulation belt 236 may include a belt body 338 that is substantially hollow, annular, and has a generally rectangular cross-section, which can be welded to the outer surface 12S of the container body 12, and the belt body 338 defines a fluid chamber 338A therein, which is configured to circulate the fluid 234F from the fluid source 234 through it. Stated another way, in many embodiments, the belt body 338 of the fluid circulation belt 236 defines at least a portion of the fluid chamber 338A, which is configured to circulate the fluid 234F from the fluid source 234 through it adjacent to the container body 12.
[0137] In various embodiments, the fluid circulation zone 236 is not completely annular, so that the fluid 234F does not flow continuously completely around the entire container body 12. As shown, the fluid circulation zones 236 each include a fluid inlet 236A, through which the fluid 234F is introduced into the fluid circulation zone 236, and a fluid outlet 236B, through which the fluid 234F exits the fluid circulation zone 236. A fluid inflow conduit (not shown), such as a hose, may be used to introduce the fluid 234F from the fluid source 234 into the fluid circulation zone 236 via the fluid inlet 236A, and a fluid outflow conduit (not shown), such as a hose, may be used to direct the fluid 234F from the fluid circulation zone 236 back to the fluid source 234 or to another fluid circulation zone 236 via the fluid outlet 236B.
[0138] In some embodiments, a plurality of fluid circulation belts 236 can be connected sequentially with the fluid 234F from the fluid source 234. The plurality of fluid circulation belts 236 connected sequentially can be connected to the same container body 12, or can be connected to different container bodies 12. In this way, the fluid 234F can flow from one fluid circulation belt 236 to the next fluid circulation belt 236 without returning to the fluid source 234 in between. By such a design, the fluid outflow conduit from one fluid circulation belt 236 can be fluidically connected to the fluid inflow conduit for the next fluid circulation belt 236. Therefore, after a plurality of such fluid circulation belts 236 are connected in a sequential manner in fluid communication, the fluid 234F can then be returned to the fluid source 234 for reuse. It should be understood that any suitable number of fluid circulation belts 236 can be connected sequentially.
[0139] Alternatively, fluid 234F from the fluid source 234 can be provided in parallel to each fluid circulation zone 236, so that the fluid 234F flows directly from the fluid source 234 into the fluid circulation zone 236 via the fluid inlet 236A (through the fluid inflow conduit), and then the fluid 234F returns directly from the fluid circulation zone 236 to the fluid source 234 via the fluid outlet 236B (through the fluid outflow conduit).
[0140] It should be appreciated that the fluid 234F returned to the fluid source 234 may then be reused as desired, as all of the fluid 234F at the fluid source 234 may be temperature regulated, such as by using the temperature regulator 234A.
[0141] Figure 2B is along Figure 2A 2B-2B in FIG. 2B is a simplified cross-sectional schematic diagram of the container assembly 10. As shown, the container body 12 of the container assembly 10 can define a chamber 12A therein, which can be used to receive and maintain any suitable liquid 13 (shown as a plurality of small circles) during the aging process.
[0142] Figure 2B Further shown are sidewalls 22 , bottom 24 , and top 26 , which may be included as part of the container body 12 . Figure 2B Also shown is a portion of the temperature controller 14, such as a portion of two hollow, substantially annular fluid circulation bands 236, and a bunghole 32 positioned within and / or extending through the container body 12. For clarity, the connector assembly 540 (eg, Figure 5B As shown), mounting assembly 50 (as Figure 1A ) and the insert holder assembly 16 (as shown Figure 1B shown) not in Figure 2B However, it should be understood that when the side wall 22, the bottom 24 and the top 26 are as shown in FIG. Figure 2B The connector assembly 540 , the mount assembly 50 , and the insert holder assembly 16 are typically included as part of the container assembly 12 when secured (such as welded) together as shown.
[0143] It should also be understood that the container body 12, including the sidewall 22, the bottom 24, and the top 26, can have any desired thickness in order to more effectively retain the liquid 13 therein during the aging process. In certain embodiments, the thickness of the container body 12, including the sidewall 22, can be slightly less than that in currently available container bodies due to the inclusion of the reinforcing band 27. In other words, the additional strength and structural stability that can be provided by including the reinforcing band 27 enables the container body 12 to be designed with a slightly thinner overall cross-section.
[0144] Figure 3A 2 is a simplified perspective schematic diagram of an embodiment of a fluid circulation zone 236 that may be included as part of a liquid temperature control system 14. As described herein, it should also be understood that since the fluid circulation zone 236 is generally positioned within the container body 12 (e.g., Figure 1A The side wall 22 (as shown) Figure 1A ) and may further serve as a reinforcing strip 27 (as shown Figure 1A As shown), the fluid circulation zone 236 can also be considered as a part of the container body 12.
[0145] As shown, in various embodiments, the fluid circulation belt 236 can include a main body belt 338, which can be substantially annular, but not completely annular. In some embodiments, the fluid circulation belt 236 and / or the main body belt 338 can be configured to form 95% to 99.9% of a fully formed ring.
[0146] As further shown, in certain embodiments, the belt body 338 of the fluid circulation belt 236 has a generally “C” shaped cross section. Alternatively, the belt body 338 of the fluid circulation belt 236 may have another suitable shaped cross section.
[0147] Figure 3A Also shown are a fluid inlet 236A and a fluid outlet 236B, from which a fluid source 234 (eg, Figure 2A Fluid 234F (as shown) Figure 2A 236A, and the fluid 234F from the fluid source 234 leaves the fluid circulation zone 236 through the fluid outlet 236B. It should be understood that the fluid inlet 236A and the fluid outlet 236B can have any suitable size and shape so that the fluid 234F from the fluid source 234 can easily and conveniently enter and leave the fluid circulation zone 236.
[0148] It should be understood that the fluid circulation band 236 and / or the body band 338 can be any suitable size, depending on the container body 12 (e.g., Figure 1A ) and the fluid circulation belt 236 will be positioned at a specific location around and adjacent to the container body 12. It should also be understood that the fluid circulation belt 236 and / or belt body 338 can have any suitable width and can define any suitable size fluid chamber 338A therein (in mm / s) depending on the volume of fluid 234F to be circulated through the fluid circulation belt 236 at any given time. Figure 3C denoted by a dotted line).
[0149] The fluid circulation belt 236 and / or the belt body 338 may be formed of any suitable material. For example, in certain non-exclusive embodiments, the fluid circulation belt 236 and / or the belt body 338 may be formed of stainless steel or another suitable metal material. Alternatively, the fluid circulation belt 236 may be made of other suitable materials.
[0150] Figure 3B yes Figure 3A A simplified top view of the fluid circulation belt 236 is shown in FIG. Figure 3B As clearly shown in FIG. 2 , the fluid circulation belt 236 and / or belt body 338 are substantially but not completely annular.
[0151] Figure 3C yes Figure 3A 236. As shown, the body 338 of the fluid circulation belt 236 defines at least a portion of a fluid chamber 338A (shown in phantom) therein. It should be understood that the size and / or volume of the fluid chamber 338A may be based on the temperature controller 14 (e.g., Figure 1AIt should also be understood that the size and shape of the fluid circulation belt 236 and / or belt body 338, as well as the thickness of the material used to form the fluid circulation belt 236 and / or belt body 338, will affect the size and / or volume of the fluid chamber 338A.
[0152] Figure 3C Also shown again are fluid inlet 236A and fluid outlet 236B, which are disposed within fluid circulation zone 236 so that fluid from source 234 (eg, Figure 2A Fluid 234F (as shown) Figure 2A ) can easily and conveniently enter and exit the fluid circulation zone 236.
[0153] Figure 4A yes Figure 1A 1 is a simplified top view of a portion of the container assembly 10 shown in FIG. Figure 4A 2 is a simplified top view of the first body member 22A of the side wall 22 and the top 26 of the container body 12 .
[0154] Figure 4B yes Figure 4A , which is a simplified top perspective schematic diagram of the portion of the container assembly 10 (including a portion of an embodiment of a liquid temperature control system 414B) shown in FIG. 4 , which is positioned around and adjacent to the first body member 22A of the side wall 22 of the container body 12. Specifically, Figure 4B An embodiment of a fluid inlet 436A and a fluid outlet 436B included in the fluid circulation zone 236 of the temperature controller 414B is shown. It should be noted that, for example, the fluid inlet 436A and / or the fluid outlet 436B may include threads (not shown) or another type of connector that allows for coupling to a fluid source 234 (e.g., Figure 2A One or more fluid conduits (not shown) connected to the apparatus.
[0155] Figure 4C yes Figure 4A , which is a simplified top perspective schematic diagram of the portion of the container assembly 10 (including a portion of another embodiment of the liquid temperature control system 414C) shown in FIG. 4 , which is positioned around and adjacent to the first body member 22A of the side wall 22 of the container body 12. Specifically, Figure 4CAnother embodiment of a fluid inlet 436A and a fluid outlet 436B included in the fluid circulation zone 236 of a temperature controller 414C is shown. More specifically, in this embodiment of the temperature controller 414C, the fluid inlet 436A is combined with and / or covered with a first (inlet) fluid flow housing member 437A, and the fluid outlet 436B is combined with and / or covered with a second (outlet) fluid flow housing member 437B. It should be understood that the first (inlet) fluid flow housing member 437A and the second (outlet) fluid flow housing member 437B can have any suitable size and shape depending on the size and shape of the fluid inlet 436A and the fluid outlet 436B, respectively.
[0156] Figure 4D yes Figure 4A , which is a simplified top perspective schematic diagram of the portion of the container assembly 10 (including a portion of yet another embodiment of a liquid temperature control system 414D) shown in FIG. 4 , which is positioned around and adjacent to the first body member 22A of the side wall 22 of the container body 12. Specifically, Figure 4D Yet another embodiment of a fluid inlet 436A and a fluid outlet 436B included in a fluid circulation band 236 of a temperature controller 414D is shown. More specifically, in this embodiment of the temperature controller 414D, both the fluid inlet 436A and the fluid outlet 436B are combined and / or covered with a single fluid flow housing member 437. With this design, when the fluid flow housing member 437 is coupled to the fluid circulation band 236, these components cooperate to form a complete ring positioned around and adjacent to the container body 12. It should be understood that the fluid flow housing member 437 can have any suitable size and shape, depending on the size and shape of the fluid inlet 436A and the fluid outlet 436B, as well as the relative spacing between the fluid inlet 436A and the fluid outlet 436B. It should also be understood that in this embodiment, the complete ring formed when the fluid flow housing member 437 is coupled to the fluid circulation band 236 helps to keep the fluid circulation band 236 around and adjacent to the container body 12 in its desired position.
[0157] Figure 5A yes Figure 1A Another simplified side view schematic diagram of the container assembly 10 is shown in FIG. More specifically, Figure 5A is another simplified side schematic diagram illustrating the container body 12 of the container assembly 10 .
[0158] also, Figure 5B is along Figure 5A5B-5B in FIG. 5B is a simplified cross-sectional schematic diagram of a container assembly 10 including an embodiment of an insert holder assembly 516 having features of the present invention. The insert holder assembly 516 is configured to receive and retain at least one spaced-apart flavor insert 18, and preferably a plurality of spaced-apart flavor inserts 18 (e.g., Figure 7 In certain embodiments, the insert holder assembly 516 and the flavor insert 18 are designed to allow the flavor insert 18 to be easily, selectively, and individually added or removed from the container body 12, such as through the insert opening 28 in the top 26 of the container body 12 (e.g., Figure 1A ), and / or when the top 26 is not secured to the side wall 22 of the container body 12. In addition, in some embodiments, the flavor insert 18 is received and retained by the insert holder assembly 516 to be retained when the container body 12 is filled with the liquid 13 (e.g. Figure 2B The movement of the flavor insert 18 is inhibited when (as shown).
[0159] The design of the insert holder assembly 516 can vary. In certain embodiments, the insert holder assembly 516 can include a connector assembly 540, a first (upper) alignment frame 542, a second (lower) alignment frame 544, and a holder frame 545, the holder frame 545 including a holder base 546 and one or more insert holders 548 connected to the holder base 546. Alternatively, the insert holder assembly 516 can have a different design, with more or fewer components than those mentioned above. For example, in certain non-exclusive alternative embodiments, the insert holder assembly 516 can be designed to have only one alignment frame.
[0160] The connector assembly 540 fixedly couples the first alignment frame 542 and the second alignment frame 544 to the retainer frame 545, and is used to connect the insert retainer assembly 516 to the container body 12. In one embodiment, the connector assembly 540 is a generally tubular member extending along the longitudinal axis of the container, which keeps the first alignment frame 542 spaced apart from the top 26, keeps the retainer frame 545 spaced apart from the bottom 24, and keeps the second alignment frame 544 spaced apart from the retainer frame 545 and slightly higher than the retainer frame 545. In some embodiments, the connector assembly 540 can be formed by a plurality of parts that can be selectively fixed to each other. For example, in many embodiments, the proximal end 540P of the connector assembly 540 can be a separate part from the rest of the connector assembly 540. In such an embodiment, the proximal end 540P of the connector assembly 540 can be fixed (e.g., welded) to the rest of the connector assembly 540 during the manufacturing process. In addition, the proximal end 540P can extend through the top 26 of the container body 12. Furthermore, in some embodiments, the portion of the connector assembly 540 other than the proximal end 540P may be formed by a pair of generally tubular members, such as a first connector member body 540F and a second connector member body 540S, which may be connected and / or coupled together by a connector member coupler 540C. In certain such embodiments, the connector member coupler 540C may define a sampling hole 540A, such that an operator may selectively remove a sample of the liquid 13 from the container body 12 through the barrel hole 32 and the sampling hole 540A. Alternatively, the connector assembly 540 may have another suitable design, such as an integral, one-piece design. Yet alternatively, for example, the connector assembly 540 may have another suitable design and / or may maintain one or more of the alignment frames 542, 544 and the retainer frame 545 in a position different from that of the housing 12. Figure 5B Position shown.
[0161] The insert holder assembly 516 can be formed of any suitable material. For example, in some embodiments, the components of the insert holder assembly 516 can be made of stainless steel or another suitable metal material. Alternatively, the components of the insert holder assembly 516 can be made of other suitable materials.
[0162] In some embodiments, the container assembly 10 may also include a mounting assembly 550 that couples, fixes, and / or mounts the insert holder assembly 516 to the container body 12. In some embodiments, the mounting assembly 550 includes a lower mounting member 552 for coupling, fixing, and / or mounting the connector assembly 540 to the bottom 24 of the container body 12, and an upper mounting member 554 for coupling, fixing, and / or mounting the connector assembly 540 to the top 26 of the container body 12. In one embodiment, each mounting member 552, 554 includes a support. With this design, the mounting assembly 550 allows easy and controllable relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 516 and the container body 12.
[0163] More specifically, in one embodiment, the lower mounting member 552 is positioned substantially centrally along the bottom 24 of the container body 12 and is adapted to rotatably receive and retain the distal end of the connector assembly 540. Somewhat similarly, the upper mounting member 554 is positioned substantially centrally along the top 26 of the container body 12 and is adapted to rotatably receive and retain the connector assembly 540, wherein the proximal end 540P of the connector assembly 540 extends through the upper mounting member 554. In addition, the upper mounting member 554 can be adapted to seal the connector assembly 540 to the top 26 of the container body 12, wherein the proximal end 540P extends through the upper mounting member 554.
[0164] In certain embodiments, the first alignment frame 542 includes a central tubular alignment hub 542H ( Figure 1B ), and one or more alignment arms 542A extending radially from the alignment hub 542H (in Figure 1B ). In one embodiment, the first alignment frame 542 includes four alignment arms 542A that are spaced apart from each other and extend in a cantilevered manner away from the alignment hub 542H. Alternatively, the first alignment frame 542 may include more than four or less than four alignment arms 542A.
[0165] In addition, the design of each alignment arm 542A can be varied. For example, each alignment arm 542A can define a plurality of spaced apart alignment guides 542G (e.g., Figure 1B 14A and 14B ), which are used to guide the flavor insert 18 during installation and keep the flavor insert 18 spaced apart from each other when positioned within the container body 12. For example, each alignment guide 542G can be a generally rectangular hole that is slightly larger than the cross-section of the flavor insert 18. In one embodiment, the alignment guides 542G are radially aligned along the corresponding alignment arms 542A. Alternatively, one or more of the alignment guides 542G can be another shape, such as a circle, an oval, a triangle, or an octagon.
[0166] Substantially similarly, in some embodiments, the second alignment frame 544 includes a central tubular alignment hub, and one or more alignment arms extending radially from the alignment hub. In one embodiment, the second alignment frame 544 includes four alignment arms that are spaced apart from each other and extend away from the alignment hub in a cantilevered manner. The alignment arms of the second alignment frame 544 are configured to align with the alignment arms 542A of the first alignment frame 542. Alternatively, the second alignment frame 544 may include more than four or less than four alignment arms.
[0167] In addition, each alignment arm of the second alignment frame 544 may also define a plurality of spaced apart alignment guides for guiding the flavor insert 18 during installation and for keeping the flavor insert 18 spaced apart from one another when positioned within the container body 12. For example, each alignment guide may be a generally rectangular hole slightly larger than the cross-section of the flavor insert 18. In one embodiment, the alignment guides are radially aligned along the corresponding alignment arm. Alternatively, one or more alignment guides may be another shape, such as circular, oval, triangular, or octagonal.
[0168] The alignment guide 542G on each alignment arm 542A of the first alignment frame 542 is configured to align with the alignment guide on each alignment arm of the second alignment frame 544. With such a design, the flavor insert 18 guided and / or positioned by a specific alignment guide on one of the alignment arms 542A of the first alignment frame 542 will also be easily guided and / or positioned by a corresponding alignment guide on one of the alignment arms of the second alignment frame 544.
[0169] In some embodiments, the retainer frame 545 and / or the retainer base 546 includes a central tubular retainer hub 546H ( Figure 1B ), and one or more retainer arms 546A extending radially from the retainer hub 546H (in Figure 1B 546H). In this embodiment, the retainer frame 545 and / or the retainer base 546 include four retainer arms 546A, which are spaced apart from each other and extend in a cantilevered manner away from the retainer hub 546H. Alternatively, the retainer frame 545 and / or the retainer base 546 may include more than four or less than four retainer arms 546A. It should be understood that the number of retainer arms 546A will generally correspond to the number of alignment arms 542A on each of the first alignment frame 542 and the second alignment frame 544.
[0170] As described herein, the container assembly 10 is generally kept substantially horizontal during the aging process. In this positioning, the container assembly 10 and / or the container body 12 can be positioned so that the barrel hole 32 is located at the top of the horizontal container body 12. When it is necessary to sample the liquid 13 during the aging process, and when the container body 12 is positioned in this manner, the operator can extend the sample collector (not shown) through the barrel hole 32 into the chamber 12A, and then through the sampling hole 540A, which can be formed by the connector assembly 540. As shown, the sampling hole 540A in the connector assembly 540 will generally be aligned with the barrel hole 32. In this way, the operator can obtain a sample of the liquid 13 from the bottom (or lowest point) of the container assembly 10 (at this position).
[0171] Fig. 6A is a simplified partially exploded perspective schematic diagram of an embodiment of a retainer frame 645 having features of the present invention, which retainer frame 645 can be used as a container assembly 10 (such as Figure 1A A portion of the insert holder assembly 516 shown in FIG. 5 is included. More specifically, Fig. 6A is a simplified partially exploded perspective view of an embodiment of a retainer base 646 , a retainer hub 646H, and retainer arms 646A, which may form at least a portion of a retainer frame 645 .
[0172] In addition, if Fig. 6A As further shown in FIG. 1 , each retainer arm 646A may include a plurality of spaced-apart insert retainers 648 coupled to the retainer base 646 and aligned with the first alignment frame 542 (eg, Figure 5B as shown) and a second alignment frame 544 (as shown Figure 5B ) with corresponding alignment arms 542A (as shown) Figure 5B ) on the corresponding alignment guide 542G (as shown) Figure 1B By such a design, the flavor insert 18 (as shown) guided and / or positioned by the corresponding alignment guides 542G on the first alignment frame 542 and the second alignment frame 544 is aligned. Figure 7 648) will be easily guided downward into the corresponding insert holder 648 to be effectively received and retained by the insert holder 648. It should be understood that when the flavor insert 18 is effectively received and retained by the insert holder 648, each flavor insert 18 will be positioned within the corresponding alignment guide 542G on the first alignment frame 542 and the second alignment frame 544, and substantially simultaneously retained by the corresponding insert holder 648. Figure 7 and Fig. 8A and Figure 8B Details and aspects of certain embodiments of the insert retainer 648 are described.
[0173] As shown, in certain non-exclusive embodiments, the retainer frame 645 includes four retainer arms 646A, which are spaced apart from each other in a substantially semicircular arrangement around the retainer hub 646H. Figure 1A 6, the flavor insert 18 may be received and held by the insert holder 648 when the flavor insert 18 is positioned substantially horizontally during the aging process such that the flavor insert 18 is positioned only in the lower half of the container body 12. Thus, with such a configuration, even if the chamber 12A (as shown) is Figure 1B ) is only half filled with the liquid 13 being aged, all flavor inserts 18 may also be positioned within the liquid 13 (e.g. Figure 2B Alternatively, the retainer arms 646A may be positioned and / or arranged in another suitable manner.
[0174] Figure 6B yes Fig. 6A 645 is a simplified top view of the retainer frame 645 shown in FIG. Figure 6B 64 is a simplified top view schematic diagram of retainer frame 645 illustrating retainer base 646 , retainer hub 646H, retainer arm 646A, and retainer insert 648 of retainer frame 645 .
[0175] Figure 6C yes Fig. 6A 645 is a simplified side view of the retainer frame 645 shown in FIG. Figure 6C is a simplified side schematic view of the retainer frame 645 , which again shows the retainer base 646 , retainer hub 646H, retainer arm 646A and retainer insert 648 of the retainer frame 645 .
[0176] Figure 7 is a simplified schematic side view of an embodiment of an insert holder 748 having features of the present invention, which insert holder 748 can be used as an insert holder assembly 516 (such as Figure 5B It should be noted that Fig. 6A One or more insert holders 648 in the may be similar in design to Figure 7 Insert retainer 748. Figure 7 Also shown is an insert holder 748 coupled to the holder base 746. In addition, Figure 7 Also shown is a simplified schematic side view of three flavor inserts 18 , namely a first flavor insert 18A, a second flavor insert 18B (shown in phantom), and a third flavor insert 18C (shown in phantom), each of which can be alternately and selectively received and retained by the insert holder 748 .
[0177] The flavor insert 18 is used to impart flavor to the liquid 13 (e.g. Figure 2B The number of flavor inserts 18 used and the type and size of flavor inserts 18 used can be adjusted to accurately adjust the desired results for the liquid 13. With this design, the optimal material and optimal amount of material for the liquid 13 to extract flavor during the aging process can be utilized. By being able to change the number and type of flavor inserts 18 used in the aging process, there is greater flexibility in the timing and flavor development of the liquid 13 during the aging process. As a non-exclusive example, one or more flavor inserts 18 can be made of different types of wood, such as white oak, red oak, mahogany, Douglas fir, maple, birch, hickory and / or any combination thereof. By inserting different types of flavor inserts 18 into chamber 12A (such as Figure 1B The ability to influence the flavor of the liquid 13 (as shown) is a great asset in producing the best possible beverage during the aging process.
[0178] In one embodiment, each flavor insert 18 is generally beam-shaped and has a generally rectangular cross-section. Alternatively, one or more flavor inserts 18 may have another cross-sectional shape, such as circular, oval, triangular, or octagonal, for example.
[0179] Additionally, in certain embodiments, each flavor insert 18 includes a distal end 18D received and held by the insert holder 748, and an opposing proximal end ( Figure 7 645 and would typically be positioned above the first alignment frame 542 (e.g. Figure 5B The proximal end may be accessed and retained during removal of the flavor insert 18 from the container body 12 and / or insertion of the flavor insert 18 into the container body 12 .
[0180] In one embodiment, the insert holder assembly 516 selectively retains the container body 12 (eg, Figure 5A 12A) spaced apart flavor inserts 18. Additionally, in this embodiment, the insert holder assembly 516 holds the flavor inserts 18 spaced apart from one another so that nearly the entirety of each flavor insert 18 is exposed to the liquid 13 in the chamber 12A.
[0181] like Figure 7As shown, the insert holder 748 includes a first holder member 748A and a second holder member 748B, each of which is coupled to the holder base 746 and extends away from the holder base 746 in a cantilevered manner. In certain embodiments, as shown, each holder member 748A, 748B may have a design including a plurality of generally "S" shaped curves, which are oriented to provide a plurality of alternative engagement areas 760 for the insert holder 748. In various embodiments, the holder members 748A, 748B may have a certain elasticity and / or flexibility to more effectively receive and retain alternative flavor inserts 18 of different thicknesses. In other words, the holder members 748A, 748B may be movable relative to each other between a non-deflected position (before the holder members 748A, 748B retain the flavor insert 18) and a deflected position (when the holder members 748A, 748B retain the flavor insert 18), i.e., may bend relative to each other. It should be appreciated that the resiliency and / or flexibility of the retainer members 748A, 748B may be varied to suit the requirements of the container assembly 10. It should also be noted that the amount of bend in the retainer members 748A, 748B will depend on the size of the flavor insert 18.
[0182] As shown, in one non-exclusive embodiment, each engagement region 760 is positioned at a different height relative to the holder base 746 (when the container assembly 10 (eg Figure 1A 760 is in an upright position). In addition, each engagement region 760 has a different separation distance or spacing 762 between the retainer members 748A, 748B. It should be understood that the actual spacing 762 shown for each engagement region 760 is a (slightly) deflected spacing, and therefore, may sometimes be referred to herein as a "deflected spacing". Specifically, during use of the insert holder 748, when the flavor insert 18 is not retained, the retainer members 748A, 748B will have a certain non-deflected (or relaxed) spacing, that is, the retainer members 748A, 748B are positioned in a non-deflected position relative to each other. Subsequently, when the flavor insert 18 is inserted into the container body 12 to be received and retained (and frictionally engaged) by the insert holder 748, the flavor insert 18 in contact with the retainer members 748A, 748B will cause the retainer members 748A, 748B to bend slightly away from each other to a deflected position, defining a deflected spacing 762 between them. Thus, it can be appreciated that the retainer members 748A, 748B can be moved relative to each other between a non-deflected position having a corresponding non-deflected spacing and a deflected position having a corresponding deflected spacing 762.
[0183] The insert retainer 748 may include any suitable number of engagement areas 760. For example, Figure 7In the illustrated embodiment, the insert retainer 748 includes (i) a first joining area 760A, which is closest to the retainer base 746 and is positioned at a first height 760H1 relative to the retainer base 746, having a first separation distance or a first (deflection) spacing 762A; (ii) a second joining area 760B, which is positioned above the first joining area 760A and is positioned at a second height 760H2 relative to the retainer base 746, having a second separation distance or a second (deflection) spacing 762B greater than the first (deflection) spacing 762A; and (iii) a third joining area 760C, which is positioned above the second joining area 760B and is positioned at a third height 760H3 relative to the retainer base 746, having a third separation distance or a third (deflection) spacing 762C greater than the first (deflection) spacing 762A and the second (deflection) spacing 762B. With this design, each insert retainer 748 includes (i) a first engagement zone 760A, which is configured to receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the first flavor insert 18A, but not receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the second flavor insert 18B or the third flavor insert 18C; (ii) a second engagement zone 760B, which is configured to receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the second flavor insert 18B, but not receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the first flavor insert 18A or the third flavor insert 18C; and (iii) a third engagement zone 760C, which is configured to receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the third flavor insert 18C, but not receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the first flavor insert 18A or the second flavor insert 18B.
[0184] Alternatively, the insert retainer 748 may have more than three engagement areas 760 or fewer than three engagement areas 760, and / or the spacing 762 between the retainer members 748A, 748B may be different than that shown.
[0185] Still alternatively, the design of the insert holder 748 and / or the holder members 748A, 748B may be modified so that more than one of the engagement areas 760A, 760B, 760C may be positioned at the same height relative to the holder base 746. More specifically, in such an alternative embodiment, the design of the holder members 748A, 748B may be modified to define (i) a first engagement area that is configured to receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the first flavor insert 18A, but not receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the second flavor insert 18B; and (ii) a second engagement area that is configured to receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the second flavor insert 18B, but not receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the first flavor insert 18A, the first engagement area and the second engagement area both being at the same height relative to the holder base 746.
[0186] As shown, each engagement region 760 of the insert holder 748 has a (deflection) spacing 762 that is configured to receive and retain flavor inserts 18 having different thicknesses. More specifically, in this embodiment, (i) the first engagement region 760A has a first (deflection) spacing 762A that is designed so that the first engagement region 760A clamps, receives and retains (and frictionally engages) a first flavor insert 18A having a first thickness 764A, for example, the first thickness 764A is approximately 7 mm in one specific example; (ii) the second engagement region 760B has a second (deflection) spacing 762B that is designed so that the second engagement region 760B clamps, receives and retains (and frictionally engages) a second flavor insert 18A having a second thickness 764B. and (iii) a third engagement zone 760C having a third (deflection) spacing 762C designed so that the third engagement zone 760C grips, receives and holds (and frictionally engages) a third flavor insert 18C having a third thickness 764C, e.g., about 18 mm in one specific example, which is greater than the first thickness 764A and the second thickness 764B. Stated another way, the first flavor insert 18A is received and held (and frictionally engaged) substantially adjacent to the first engagement zone 760A, the second flavor insert 18B is received and held (and frictionally engaged) substantially adjacent to the second engagement zone 760B, and the third flavor insert 18C is received and held (and frictionally engaged) substantially adjacent to the third engagement zone 760C.
[0187] Thus, as shown, the first (deflection) spacing 762A is at least substantially equal to the first thickness 764A of the first flavor insert 18A, the second (deflection) spacing 762B is at least substantially equal to the second thickness 764B of the second flavor insert 18B, and the third (deflection) spacing 762C is at least substantially equal to the third thickness 764C of the first flavor insert 18C. In addition, in order to enable the insert holder 748 to effectively receive and retain the first flavor insert 18A, the second flavor insert 18B and the third flavor insert 18C adjacent to the first joining area 760A, the second joining area 760B and the third joining area 760C, respectively, it should be understood that (i) the first joining area 760A will have a first (non-deflected) spacing slightly smaller than the first thickness 764A of the first flavor insert 18A, (ii) the second joining area 760B will have a second (non-deflected) spacing slightly smaller than the second thickness 764B of the second flavor insert 18B, and (iii) the third joining area 760C will have a third (non-deflected) spacing slightly smaller than the third thickness 764C of the third flavor insert 18C.
[0188] It should be understood that the thickness 764A, 764B, 764C of the flavor inserts 18A, 18B, 18C, respectively, may be different, i.e., greater or less than the example thicknesses specifically noted above. Accordingly, it is further understood that the (deflected) spacing 762A, 762B, 762C of the engagement regions 760A, 760B, 760C, respectively, may be any suitable value in order to effectively receive and retain (and frictionally engage) a flavor insert 18A, 18B, 18C of any suitable thickness 764A, 764B, 764C. However, it should also be understood that the difference in thickness 764A, 764B, 764C of the flavor inserts 18A, 18B, 18C is generally large enough that (i) the first engagement area 760A can effectively receive and retain (and frictionally engage) a first flavor insert 18A having a first thickness 764A, but cannot effectively receive and retain (and frictionally engage) a second flavor insert 18B having a second thickness 764B or a third flavor insert 18C having a third thickness 764C, and (ii) the second engagement area 760B can effectively receive and retain (and frictionally engage) a second flavor insert 18B having a second thickness 764B or a third flavor insert 18C having a third thickness 764C. The third engaging area 760C can effectively receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the third flavor insert 18C having the third thickness 764C, but cannot effectively receive and retain (and frictionally engage) the first flavor insert 18A having the first thickness 764A or the second flavor insert 18C having the third thickness 764C.
[0189] The retainer members 748A, 748B and / or the insert retainer 748 can be formed of any suitable material. For example, in some embodiments, the retainer members 748A, 748B and / or the insert retainer 748 can be made of stainless steel or another suitable metal material. Alternatively, the retainer members 748A, 748B and / or the components of the insert retainer 748 can be made of other suitable materials.
[0190] It should be understood that the first retainer member 748A and the second retainer member 748B can be designed to be substantially identical to each other, but can be effectively positioned as mirror images of each other. In addition, it should be understood that the use of the terms "first retainer member" and "second retainer member" is merely for convenience and ease of description, and any one of the retainer members 748A, 748B can be defined as a "first retainer member" and / or a "second retainer member".
[0191] Fig. 8A yes Figure 7 A simplified perspective schematic diagram of a portion of the insert holder 748 is shown. Specifically, Fig. 8A is a simplified perspective schematic illustration of one of the retainer members 748A of the insert retainer 748.
[0192] Figure 8B yes Fig. 8A 748. Figure 8B 748A is a simplified side view of one of the retainer members 748A, which shows the generally "S" shaped design of the retainer member 748A. As described above, the retainer members 748A, 748B (such as Figure 7 The generally "S" shaped design of each of the retainer members 748A, 748B is configured so that the retainer members 748A, 748B cooperate with each other to form a joining area 760 (as shown in FIG. Figure 7 ), thereby effectively receiving and retaining the flavor insert 18 (as shown in Figure 7 shown).
[0193] The specific size, shape and dimensions of the generally "S" shaped design of the retainer member 748B may be varied to accommodate the specific requirements of the container assembly 10 (e.g., Figure 1A ) and / or flavor insert 18 (as shown Figure 7 size, shape and dimensions as shown).
[0194] Fig. 9A is a simplified partially exploded cross-sectional side view of a portion of a key lock assembly 920 having features of the present invention, which can be used as a container assembly 10 (such as Figure 1A Specifically, Fig. 9A9 is a partially exploded cross-sectional view showing a portion of the connector assembly 940, the key lock 970, and a portion of the rotator 931, which may be included as part of the key lock assembly 920. As described above, the key lock assembly 920 is configured to selectively inhibit the insert holder assembly 16 (e.g., Figure 1B As shown) and the container body 12 (as Figure 1A Note that for clarity, Fig. 9A The upper mounting member 954 is not shown in FIG. 9 , i.e., so that the engagement between the key lock 970 and that portion of the connector assembly 940 is clearly visible, but the upper mounting member 954 can also be an important component for the proper and desired function of the key lock assembly 970.
[0195] The design of the key lock assembly 920 can vary. Fig. 9A In the illustrated embodiment, the key lock assembly 920 may include a portion of the connector assembly 940 (such as the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940), the key lock 970, and a portion of the rotator 931, wherein the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 is configured to extend through the mount assembly 550 (such as Figure 5B The upper mounting member 554 (as shown) Figure 5B ). Alternatively, the key lock assembly 920 may include more or fewer components than shown and described herein. For example, it should be understood that in some embodiments, the key lock assembly 920 may be configured to operate entirely as intended without including the rotator 931. In certain other embodiments, the key lock assembly 920 may operate at least partially without the exclusive use of the key lock 970, and the rotator 931 performs and / or enables certain functions that are typically performed and / or enabled through the use of the key lock 970. Therefore, for such embodiments, the rotator 931 may sometimes be referred to alternatively as a "key lock." In addition, in some embodiments, due to the interaction and / or relationship between the key lock 970 and the upper mount 954, the upper mount 954 may also sometimes be considered to form a part of the key lock assembly 920.
[0196] As described in detail below, the key lock assembly 920 and / or the key lock 970 can be in (i) a fully seated configuration 975A (e.g., Fig. 9A (ii) partially in place structure 975B (e.g. Fig.13A ), and (iii) a non-seated (or disengaged) configuration 975C (as shown in Fig. 9B ), wherein in the fully positioned configuration 975A (as shown Fig. 9A940P) so as to selectively inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12, i.e., such that any rotation of the insert holder assembly 16 (e.g., by using the key lock 970 and / or the rotator 931) results in a simultaneous and corresponding rotation of the container body 12 (and / or any rotation of the container body 12 (such as when the container body 12 is particularly large so that a roller (not shown) can be used to directly rotate the container body 12) results in a simultaneous and corresponding rotation of the insert holder assembly 16)). In the partially seated configuration 975B (e.g., in Fig.13A ), the key lock 970 partially engages the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940, so that the key lock 970 and / or the rotator 931 can be used to rotate the insert holder assembly 16, but relative rotation is allowed between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12, and in the unseated (or disengaged) configuration 975C (such as Fig. 9B As shown), the key lock 970 does not engage the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940.
[0197] like Fig. 9A As shown, the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 includes a portion having a slightly smaller cross-sectional dimension than other portions of the connector assembly 940 so as to be able to extend through the upper mount 554 of the mount assembly 550, while other portions of the substantially tubular connector assembly 940 (including portions of the connector assembly 940 at least immediately adjacent to the smaller portion of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940) have a larger cross-sectional dimension so that they are prevented from extending through the upper mount 554 of the mount assembly 550. As shown, in some embodiments, the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 can be hollowed out and can include a first attraction member 972A positioned and / or incorporated therein. It should be understood that the first attraction member 972A can be fixed in the hollowed out portion of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in any suitable manner. For example, in one embodiment, the first attraction member 972A can have an epoxy coating to fix the first attraction member 972A in a desired position in the hollowed out portion of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. Alternatively, an adhesive may be used to maintain the position of the first attraction member 972A within the hollowed-out portion of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. Alternatively still, the first attraction member 972A may be fixed within the hollowed-out portion of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in another suitable manner.
[0198] In certain embodiments, as described above, the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 can be a separate component that is selectively secured to the remainder of the connector assembly 940. With this design, it can be easier to position and / or secure the first attraction component 972A within the hollowed-out portion of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 before selectively securing the proximal end 940P to the remainder of the connector assembly 940. Alternatively, the connector assembly 940 (including the proximal end 940 of the connector assembly 940) can have an integral design, and during the manufacturing process, the first attraction component 972A is positioned and / or secured within the hollowed-out portion of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940.
[0199] The key lock 970 includes a lock distal end 970D and an opposing lock proximal end 970P. In certain embodiments, the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 can be hollowed out and shaped and dimensioned to fit tightly around the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. As described in more detail below, the size and shape of the hollowed-out portion of the lock distal end 970D can be uniquely configured so that the lock distal end 970D fits over the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 only in one specific rotational orientation.
[0200] Additionally, the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 may be hollowed out and may include a second attraction member 972B positioned and / or incorporated therein. Fig. 9A As shown, during activation of the key lock assembly 920, the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 moves downward, such as sliding downward onto the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940, into a fully seated configuration 975A. When in the fully seated configuration 975A, the key lock 970 is thus activated to inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12. By such a design, the flavor insert 18 (such as the one held by the insert holder assembly 16) is Figure 7 ) can effectively retain the liquid 13 (as shown in Figure 2B 940P) so that the flavor insert 18 can impart flavor to the liquid 13 in a desired manner. In other words, with the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 fully seated on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940, the key lock assembly 920 is activated, and the insert holder assembly 16 and the flavor insert 18 retained thereby can be maintained in a constant rotational position relative to the container body 12. Note that during the aging process, the container assembly 10 and / or the container body 12 are generally maintained in a substantially horizontal position, such as the barrel hole 32 (as shown). Figure 1A ) faces in a generally upward direction, and the flavor insert 18 is positioned in the lower half of the container body 12 so that even if the chamber 12A (as shown) Figure 1B ) is only half full of the aging liquid 13, in which the flavor insert 18 will also be positioned.
[0201] Importantly, as described above, the use of the key lock assembly 920 and / or the key lock 970 to inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12 can effectively overcome the pull of gravity on a heavier paddle (when included) that would otherwise move to the bottom of the chamber 12A and displace one or more flavor inserts 18 out of the liquid 13. Thus, the operator can better ensure that a desired profile is created within the liquid 13 during the aging process. In addition, as described above, by continuously implementing the connector assembly 540 (such as Figure 5B ) and the desired rotational positioning of the insert holder assembly 16 within the chamber 12A, the operator can also extend a suitable sampling device through the sampling hole 540A formed in the connector assembly 540 (such as Figure 5B ), collecting any desired sample of liquid 13 from the bottom of chamber 12A.
[0202] In addition, when the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 is positioned downwardly onto the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 into the fully seated configuration 975A, the first attraction member 972A and the second attraction member 972B are magnetically attracted to each other. In this fully seated configuration 975A, the magnetic attraction force between the first attraction member 972A and the second attraction member 972B helps to ensure that the key lock 970 remains in the activated and locked position, i.e., the fully seated configuration 975A, even during the movement of the container assembly 10.
[0203] The first attraction member 972A and the second attraction member 972B can have any suitable design so as to attract each other when the key lock 970 is in the activated and locked position. In one embodiment, the first attraction member 972A can be a piece of ferrous material, and the second attraction member 972B can be a magnet. In another embodiment, the first attraction member 972A can be a magnet, and the second attraction member 972B can be a piece of ferrous material. Alternatively, the first attraction member 972A and / or the second attraction member 972B can have another suitable design.
[0204] As described herein, the key lock 970 can be partially moved from a fully seated configuration 975A to a partially seated configuration 975B (eg, Fig.13A ), wherein the key lock 970 is not in a fully seated configuration 975A, but is also not fully disengaged from the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 (in an unseated (disengaged) configuration 975C (as shown). Fig. 9BWhen in the partially seated configuration 975B, relative rotation can be achieved between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12, i.e. for stirring the liquid 13, etc.
[0205] like Fig. 9A As further shown in the figure, the rotator 931 can have a hollowed-out rotator distal end 931D that is configured to selectively engage the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970. More specifically, as shown, the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 can have a cross-sectional shape that matches the cross-sectional shape of the hollowed-out portion of the rotator distal end 931D. As described in more detail below, the size and shape of the hollowed-out portion of the rotator distal end 931D can be uniquely configured so that the rotator distal end 931D only fits on the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 in a specific rotational orientation.
[0206] As described herein, it should be understood that in some embodiments, the hollowed-out portion of the rotator distal end 931D of the rotator 931 can be substantially similar in design to the hollowed-out portion of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970. Therefore, in such embodiments, the key lock assembly 920 can be used to inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12 without specifically requiring the key lock 970, i.e., the rotator distal end 931D of the rotator 931 is fully positioned downwardly onto the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940.
[0207] In certain embodiments, the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940, the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970, and the outwardly facing portion of the rotator 931 may each include symbols or indicators (e.g., Figure 1BMore specifically, the symbols or indicators on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940, the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970, and the outward portion of the rotator 931 can indicate the orientation of the retainer arm 646A and the paddle (if included) within the container body 12. It should be understood that when the insert retainer assembly 16 is positioned within the container body 12, the symbols or indicators on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 will always accurately indicate the orientation of the retainer arm 646A and the paddle (if included) within the container body 12. However, it should also be understood that the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 and the symbols or indicators on the outwardly facing portion of the rotator 931 will only accurately indicate the orientation of the retainer arm 646A and paddle (if included) within the container body 12 if the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 is fully positioned onto the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 and the rotator distal end 931D is positioned in a manner that engages the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970, respectively. Embodiments of such symbols or indicators will be described in more detail below.
[0208] Fig. 9B yes Fig. 9A 920 is a schematic exploded cross-sectional side view of a portion of the key lock assembly 920 shown in FIG. Fig. 9B Once again, a portion of the connector assembly 940, key lock 970, and rotator 931 are shown, which can cooperate to form at least a portion of the key lock assembly 920, with the components aligned to engage with each other, but the components are not actually engaged with each other, i.e., the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 is not engaged with the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. As such, the key lock 970 is shown in a non-seated (or disengaged) configuration 975C relative to the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. Note that for clarity, Fig. 9B The upper mounting member 954 is not shown, i.e., so that the disengagement (or lack of engagement) between the key lock 970 and the portion of the connector assembly 940 is clearly visible. It should also be noted that the first attraction member 972A (e.g. Fig. 9A as shown) and the second attraction member 972B (as shown Fig. 9A ) is not shown in Fig. 9B middle.
[0209] Fig. 10A yes Fig. 9A A simplified perspective schematic diagram of an embodiment of a portion of a key lock assembly is shown in FIG. Fig. 10A is a simplified perspective schematic diagram of a portion of an embodiment of a connector assembly 940 that can be used as Fig. 9A A portion of a key lock assembly 920 is shown included.
[0210] As shown, the connector assembly 940 includes a portion of the proximal end 940P, which may have a cross-sectional dimension that is slightly smaller than the cross-sectional dimension of other portions of the connector assembly 940 to be able to extend through the mounting assembly 550 (eg, Figure 5B The upper mounting member 554 (as shown) Figure 5B ), while the rest of the connector assembly 940 is prohibited from extending through the upper mounting member 554 of the mounting member assembly 550. In addition, as shown, in some embodiments, the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 can have a generally hexagonal cross-section that can correspond to the key lock 970 (as shown). Fig. 9A The lock distal end 970D (as shown) Fig. 9A Alternatively, the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 may have another suitable cross-sectional shape corresponding to the shape of the hollowed-out portion of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970. For example, the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 may generally be a triangle, square, pentagon, octagon, ellipse, or other suitable shape.
[0211] Fig. 10A It is further shown that the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 may include a first engagement feature 974 that is configured to engage a portion of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 so that the lock distal end 970D only fits on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in one specific rotational orientation. In a non-exclusive embodiment, the first engagement feature 974 may be a radially outward protrusion that is configured to engage a portion of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 so that the lock distal end 970D only fits on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in one specific rotational orientation. Alternatively, in another embodiment, the first engagement feature 974 may be a radially inward groove that is configured to engage a portion of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 so that the lock distal end 970D only fits on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in one specific rotational orientation. Still alternatively, the first engagement feature 974 may have another suitable design.
[0212] Fig. 10A Also shown in FIG. 1 are a series of symbols or indicators that may be displayed on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 and that may effectively indicate the position of the retainer arm 646A (eg, Fig. 6A ), paddles (if included), and sampling holes 540A (as shown) Figure 5B More specifically, as shown, the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 can include an arm indicator 941A, a paddle indicator 941B, and a sampling indicator 941C.
[0213] The arm indicator 941A is configured to indicate the position and / or orientation of the retainer arm 646A within the container body 12 (e.g., Figure 1A Thus, by using the information available from the arm indicator 941A, the operator can ensure that the retainer arm 646A and therefore the flavor insert 18 (as shown) is properly positioned. Figure 7 The liquid 13 being aged is positioned in the container body 12 as desired (as shown in FIG. Figure 2B In other words, with this design, the rotational position of these components can be accurately determined from the outside of the container body 12 without seeing these components.
[0214] The paddle indicator 941B is configured to indicate the position and / or orientation of the paddle (when included) within the container body 12. Thus, by using the information available from the paddle indicator 941B, the operator can ensure that the paddle is positioned within the liquid 13 at the appropriate time to provide the desired agitation of the liquid 13 as the liquid 13 ages within the container body 12.
[0215] The sampling indicator 941C is configured to indicate the location and / or orientation of the sampling hole 540D within the container body 12. Thus, by using the information available from the sampling indicator 941A, the operator can ensure that the sampling hole 540A is positioned as necessary so that a sample of the liquid 13 can be obtained from the bottom of the container body 12 while being maintained in a generally horizontal position during the aging process.
[0216] The connector assembly 940 can be formed of any suitable material. For example, in some embodiments, the connector assembly 940 can be formed of stainless steel or another suitable metal material. Alternatively, the connector assembly 940 can be made of other suitable materials.
[0217] Fig. 10B yes Fig. 10A 940 is a simplified top view of a portion of the connector assembly 940 shown in FIG. Fig. 10B is a simplified top view schematic diagram illustrating the general shape of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940, such as a generally hexagonal shape in one embodiment. Fig. 10B Also shown is a first engagement feature 974 provided in the form of a radially outward protrusion configured to engage the key lock 970 (eg, Fig. 9A The lock distal end 970D (as shown) Fig. 9A ) portion so that the locking distal end 970D only fits on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in a specific rotational orientation.
[0218] Fig. 10C yes Fig. 10AA simplified bottom view schematic of a portion of connector assembly 940 is shown in FIG.
[0219] Fig. 10D yes Fig. 10A 940 is a simplified side view of a portion of the connector assembly 940 shown in FIG. Fig. 10D is a simplified side schematic view showing that the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 has a smaller cross-sectional dimension that extends away from the remainder of the connector assembly 940 .
[0220] Fig.10E is along Fig. 10D A simplified cross-sectional schematic diagram of the portion of the connector assembly 940 taken along line 10E-10E in FIG. Fig.10E As shown, the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 can be hollowed out and can include a first attraction component 972A positioned and / or incorporated therein.
[0221] Fig.11A yes Fig. 9A 920 is a simplified perspective schematic diagram of another embodiment of a key lock assembly 920 shown in FIG. Fig.11A It can be used as Fig. 9A 970 includes a key lock assembly configured to engage the connector assembly 940 (eg, Fig. 10A The proximal end 940P (as shown) Fig. 10A ) and is configured to engage the rotator 931 (as shown) Fig. 9A The distal end 931D of the rotator (as shown) Fig. 9A The locking proximal end 970P of FIG.
[0222] As shown, in some embodiments, the lock distal end 970D includes a generally hexagonal hollowed-out portion that can correspond to the generally hexagonal cross-section of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. Alternatively, the hollowed-out portion of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 can have another suitable cross-sectional shape corresponding to the shape of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. For example, the hollowed-out portion of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 can be generally triangular, square, pentagonal, octagonal, oval, or other suitable shape.
[0223] In addition, if Fig.11A As shown, the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 may include a second engagement feature 976 that is configured to engage the first engagement feature 974 formed on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 only in a specific rotational orientation (e.g., Fig. 10A ). For example, in one non-exclusive embodiment, the second engagement feature 976 may be a radially inward groove configured to engage the first engagement feature 974 (i.e., formed on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in the form of a radially outward protrusion), so that the locking distal end 970D is only fitted on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in a specific rotational orientation. Alternatively, in another embodiment, the second engagement feature 976 may be a radially outward protrusion configured to engage the first engagement feature 974 (i.e., formed on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in the form of a radially inward groove), so that the locking distal end 970D is only fitted on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in a specific rotational orientation. Alternatively, the second engagement feature 976 may have another suitable design.
[0224] Additionally, as shown, in some embodiments, the proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 may have a generally hexagonal cross-section that may correspond to the generally hexagonal hollowed-out portion of the rotator distal end 931D of the rotator 931. Alternatively, the proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 may have another suitable cross-sectional shape that corresponds to the shape of the hollowed-out portion of the rotator distal end 931D of the rotator 931. For example, the proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 may be generally triangular, square, pentagonal, octagonal, elliptical, or other suitable shapes.
[0225] Fig.11A Also shown in the figure is a rotator engager 978 on the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970, which is configured to engage a portion of the rotator distal end 931D of the rotator 931, so that the rotator distal end 931D only fits on the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 in one specific rotational orientation. For example, in one non-exclusive embodiment, the rotator engager 978 can be a radially outward protrusion on the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970, which is configured to engage a portion of the rotator distal end 931D of the rotator 931, such as a radially inward groove-shaped lock engager, so that the rotator distal end 931D only fits on the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 in one specific rotational orientation. Alternatively, in another embodiment, the rotator engagement member 978 may be a radially inward groove on the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970, which is configured to engage a portion of the rotator distal end 931D of the rotator 931, such as a lock engagement member in the form of a radially outward protrusion, so that the rotator distal end 931D only fits on the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 in a specific rotational orientation. Alternatively again, the rotator engagement member 978 and / or the lock engagement member may have another suitable design.
[0226] As described herein, the key lock 970 can be positioned relative to the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 in (i) a fully seated configuration 975A (eg, Fig. 9A (ii) partially in place structure 975B (as shown in Fig.13A ), and (iii) a non-seated (or disengaged) configuration 975C (as shown Fig. 9B ) between the insert holder assembly 16 (as shown) and the insert holder assembly 16 (as shown) and the insert holder assembly 16 (as shown) and the insert holder assembly 16 (as shown) Figure 1B As shown) and the container body 12 (as Figure 1A ) is inhibited from relative rotation, in the partially seated configuration 975B (as Fig.13A ), the key lock 970 is still engaged with the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940, but relative rotation can be obtained between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12, and in the unseated (or disengaged) configuration 975C (as shown Fig. 9B As shown, the key lock 970 is completely disengaged from the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940.
[0227] Fig.11A Also shown is a portion of an adjustment system 979 that is configured to inhibit relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12 when the key lock 970 is in a fully seated configuration 975A relative to the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940, but to allow relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12 when the key lock 970 is in a partially seated configuration 975B relative to the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. The adjustment system 979 can have any suitable design. In some embodiments, the adjustment system 979 includes at least one first adjustment member 979A and at least one second adjustment member 979B (e.g., Fig. 12A As shown), at least one first positioning adjustment member 979A is connected to the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970, and at least one second positioning adjustment member 979B is connected to the upper mounting member 954 (as shown Fig. 12A The proximal end 954P of the mounting member (as shown) Fig. 12A In a non-exclusive embodiment, Fig.11DAs more clearly shown in FIG. 1 , the seat adjustment system 979 can have two first seat adjustment members 979A (such as rectangular protrusions in certain non-exclusive embodiments) that are spaced approximately 180 degrees from each other around the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970. With such a design, the seat adjustment system 979 can more effectively move between the fully seated configuration 975A and the partially seated configuration 975B, and can more effectively perform different functions when the key lock 970 is in the fully seated configuration 975A and the partially seated configuration 975B. More specifically, in this embodiment, when the first seat adjustment member 979A is aligned with the second seat adjustment member 979B, the key lock 970 can only move (slide) from the partially seated configuration 975B to the fully seated configuration 975A relative to the upper mount 954 at two rotation points of the key lock 970 spaced 180 degrees apart relative to the upper mount 954. Alternatively, the position adjustment system 979 may have more than two first position adjustment members 979A or only a single first position adjustment member 979A. Still alternatively, the position adjustment system 979 may have another suitable design.
[0228] In some embodiments, the first seat adjustment member 979A may be provided in the form of a protrusion extending radially outwardly away from the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970. Fig.11D As shown, the first position adjustment member 979A can extend about half the height of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970. With such a design, the first position adjustment member 979A can be configured to effectively engage the second position adjustment member 979B coupled to the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954 when the key lock 970 is in a fully seated configuration 975A relative to the proximal end 940 of the connector assembly 940, but no longer engage the second position adjustment member 979B coupled to the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954 when the key lock 970 is in a partially seated configuration 975B relative to the proximal end 940 of the connector assembly 940. Alternatively, the first position adjustment member 979A can have another suitable design, such as a slot radially formed in the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970.
[0229] Fig.11A Also shown in FIG. 1 are a series of symbols or indicators that may be displayed on the proximal end 970P of the connector assembly 970 and may effectively indicate the position of the retainer arm 646A (eg, Fig. 6A ), paddles (if included), and sampling holes 540A (as shown) Figure 5BMore specifically, as shown, the proximal end 970P of the connector assembly 970 may include an arm indicator 971A, a paddle indicator 971B, and a sampling indicator 971C. However, it should be understood that the arm indicator 971A, the paddle indicator 971B, and the sampling indicator 971C will only need to provide the desired indication when the key lock 970 is in a fully seated configuration 975A relative to the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 and relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12 is effectively inhibited.
[0230] The arm indicator 971A is configured to indicate the position and / or orientation of the retainer arm 646A within the container body 12. Thus, by using the information available from the arm indicator 971A, the operator can ensure that the retainer arm 646A, and therefore the flavor insert 18 (e.g., Figure 7 The liquid 13 being aged is positioned in the container body 12 as desired (as shown in FIG. Figure 2B In other words, with this design, the rotational position of these components can again be accurately determined from the outside of the container body 12 without having to see these components.
[0231] The paddle indicator 971B is configured to indicate the position and / or orientation of the paddle (when included) within the container body 12. Thus, by using the information available from the paddle indicator 971B, the operator can ensure that the paddle is positioned within the liquid 13 at the appropriate time to provide the desired agitation of the liquid 13 as the liquid 13 ages within the container body 12.
[0232] The sampling indicator 971C is configured to indicate the location and / or orientation of the sampling hole 540D within the container body 12. Thus, by using the information available from the sampling indicator 971A, the operator can ensure that the sampling hole 540A is positioned as desired so that a sample of the liquid 13 can be obtained from the bottom of the container body 12 when the container body 12 is maintained in a generally horizontal position during the aging process.
[0233] It should be understood that similar indicators may be provided on the outwardly facing surface of the rotator 931 (eg, Fig. 9A It should also be understood that when the rotator distal end 931D of the rotator 931 (as shown in FIG. Fig. 9A Such an indicator on the outward surface of the rotator 931 will only need to provide the desired indication when the proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 is fully engaged, the key lock 970 is in a fully seated configuration 975A relative to the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940, and relative rotation between the insert retainer assembly 16 and the container body 12 is effectively inhibited.
[0234] The key lock 970 can be formed of any suitable material. For example, in some embodiments, the key lock 970 can be formed of stainless steel or another suitable metal material. Alternatively, the key lock 970 can be made of other suitable materials.
[0235] Fig. 11B yes Fig.11A 970 is a simplified top view of the key lock 970 shown in FIG. Fig. 11B is a simplified top view schematic illustration of the general shape of the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 , such as a generally hexagonal shape in one embodiment. Fig. 11B Also shown is a rotator engager 978 provided in the form of a radially outward protrusion configured to engage the rotator 931 (eg, Fig. 9A The distal end 931D of the rotator (as shown) Fig. 9A ) portion so that the rotator distal end 931D only fits on the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 in one specific rotational orientation.
[0236] Fig. 11C yes Fig.11A 970 is a simplified bottom view of the key lock 970 shown in FIG. Fig. 11C 970 is a simplified bottom view schematic diagram showing the general shape (such as a generally hexagonal shape in one embodiment) of the hollowed-out portion of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970, which is configured to fit in the connector assembly 940 (such as Fig. 9A The proximal end 940P (as shown) Fig. 9A shown). Fig. 11C Also shown is a second engagement feature 976 provided in the form of a radially inward groove that is configured to engage a portion of the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 so that the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 fits on the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 only in a specific rotational orientation.
[0237] Fig.11D yes Fig.11A A simplified side view schematic diagram of the key lock 970 is shown in FIG. Fig.11D 970 is a simplified side view schematic diagram of the key lock 970, which shows the lock proximal end 970P and the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970. As described above, Fig.11D Also shown is a first seated adjustment member 979A, which extends generally radially outwardly away from the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 and extends approximately half the height of the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970. By this design, the fully seated configuration 975A (e.g., Fig. 9A ) and partially seated configuration 975B (as shown Fig.13A shown).
[0238] Fig.11E is along Fig.11D A simplified cross-sectional view of the key lock 970 taken along line 11E-11E in FIG. Fig.11E As shown, the lock proximal end 970P of the key lock 970 can be hollowed out and can include a second attraction member 972B positioned and / or incorporated therein. More specifically, as described above, when the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 is positioned downwardly to the connector assembly 940 (e.g., Fig. 9A The proximal end 940P (as shown) Fig. 9A When the first attraction member 972A (as shown in Fig. 9A ) and the second attraction member 972B are magnetically attracted to each other. In this fully seated configuration 975A (as shown Fig. 9A ), the magnetic attraction between the first attraction member 972A and the second attraction member 972B helps to ensure that the key lock 970 is locked even in the container assembly 10 (such as Figure 1A ) also remains in the activated and locked position during movement.
[0239] Fig. 12A yes Fig. 9A 920. More specifically, Fig. 12A is a simplified perspective schematic diagram of an embodiment of an upper mounting member 954, which can be used as Fig. 9A The mounting assembly 550 shown in Figure 5B As shown) and portions of a key lock assembly 920 are included.
[0240] like Fig. 12A As shown, the upper mounting member 954 can be configured so that the connector assembly 940 (such as Fig. 9A The proximal end 940P (as shown) Fig. 9A Specifically, upper mounting member 954 can be hollowed out, with mounting member aperture 954A extending completely therethrough, and upper mounting member 954 can have a suitable size, shape, and dimensions so that proximal end 940P of connector assembly 940 can at least partially extend therethrough. In addition, upper mounting member 954 can have a suitable size and shape so as not to interfere with proximal end 940P of connector assembly 940 and key lock 970 (as shown). Fig. 9A The lock distal end 970D (as shown) Fig. 9A as shown) between the desired connections and / or engagements.
[0241] like Fig. 12AAs shown, the upper mounting member 954 may also include a mounting member flange 954B that extends radially outward from the remainder of the upper mounting member 954 and is configured to be directly adjacent to the container body 12 (eg, Figure 1A The top 26 (as shown) Figure 1A ) is positioned to securely secure the upper mounting member 954 to the container body 12.
[0242] Also shown are a plurality of mount attachment holes 954C extending through the mount flange 954B. Each mount attachment hole 954C is configured to allow a mount attachment (not shown) (such as a screw in some embodiments) to extend through and / or pass therethrough so as to fixedly secure the upper mount 954 to the top 26 of the container body 12. The upper mount 954 can be configured to include any suitable number of mount attachment holes 954C, each of which is configured to allow a mount attachment to extend through and / or pass therethrough. For example, in one non-exclusive embodiment, the upper mount 954 can include five mount attachment holes 954C, each of which is configured to allow a mount attachment to extend through and / or pass therethrough. Alternatively, the upper mount 954 may include more than five or less than five mount attachment holes 954C, each of which is configured to have a mount attachment extend therethrough and / or pass therethrough.
[0243] Fig. 12A Another portion of the seat adjustment system 979 is also shown, which is configured to inhibit the insert holder assembly 16 (such as the proximal end 940P) from being moved when the key lock 970 is in the fully seated configuration 975A relative to the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. Figure 1B As shown) and the container body 12 (as Figure 1A ), but when the key lock 970 is in a partially seated configuration 975B (as shown) relative to the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 Fig.13A As shown), relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12 is allowed. Specifically, Fig. 12A 100 and 100. An embodiment of at least one second seat adjustment member 979B is shown that is coupled to the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954 and is configured to selectively engage at least one first seat adjustment member 979A (eg, Fig.11A As shown), the first in-position adjustment member 979A is connected to the key lock 970 (as shown Fig.11A The lock distal end 970D (as shown) Fig.11A). In a non-exclusive embodiment, the positioning adjustment system 979 can have two second positioning adjustment members 979B, which are spaced approximately 180 degrees apart from each other around the proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954. With such a design, the positioning adjustment system 979 can more effectively achieve movement between the fully seated configuration 975A and the partially seated configuration 975B, and more effectively achieve different functions when the key lock 970 is in the fully seated configuration 975A and the partially seated configuration 975B. More specifically, in this embodiment, when the first positioning adjustment member 979A is aligned with the second positioning adjustment member 979B, the key lock 970 can only move (slide) from the partially seated configuration 975B to the fully seated configuration 975A relative to the upper mount 954 as needed at two rotation points where the key lock 970 is spaced 180 degrees apart relative to the upper mount 954. Alternatively, the seat adjustment system 979 may have more than two second seat adjustment members 979B or only a single second seat adjustment member 979B.
[0244] In some embodiments, the second seated adjustment member 979B can be provided in the form of a slot that extends radially into the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954. As shown, the second seated adjustment member 979B can extend approximately half the height of the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954. With such a design, the second seated adjustment member 979B can be configured to effectively engage the first seated adjustment member 979A coupled to the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 when the key lock 970 is in a fully seated configuration 975A relative to the proximal end 940 of the connector assembly 940, but no longer engage the first seated adjustment member 979A coupled to the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 when the key lock 970 is in a partially seated configuration 975B relative to the proximal end 940 of the connector assembly 940. Alternatively, the second seating adjustment member 979B may have another suitable design, such as a protrusion extending radially outwardly away from the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954 .
[0245] The upper mounting member 954 can be formed of any suitable material. For example, in some embodiments, the upper mounting member 954 can be formed of stainless steel or another suitable metal material. Alternatively, the upper mounting member 954 can be made of other suitable materials.
[0246] Fig. 12B yes Fig. 12A 954 is a simplified top view of the upper mounting member 954 shown in FIG. Fig. 12B954 is a simplified top view schematically illustrating mount apertures 954A, mount flanges 954B, and mount attachment apertures 954C that may be included in this embodiment of upper mount 954 .
[0247] Fig. 12C yes Fig. 12A 954 is a simplified bottom view of the upper mounting member 954 shown in FIG. Fig. 12C is a simplified bottom view illustrating mount apertures 954A, mount flanges 954B, and mount attachment apertures 954C that may be included in this embodiment of upper mount 954 .
[0248] Fig.12D yes Fig. 12A 954 is a simplified side view of the upper mounting member 954 shown in FIG. Fig.12D is a simplified side schematic diagram illustrating a mounting flange 954B that may be included in this embodiment of the upper mounting member 954.
[0249] Fig.12E is along Fig.12D 12E-12E of the upper mounting member 954 is a simplified cross-sectional schematic diagram. Specifically, Fig.12E 954 is a simplified cross-sectional schematic diagram illustrating mounting member holes 954A and mounting member flanges 954B that may be included in this embodiment of upper mounting member 954.
[0250] Fig.13A yes Figure 1A A perspective schematic diagram of a portion of the container assembly 10 including the key lock 970 and the upper mounting member 954 is shown in FIG. Fig.13A 9, the key lock 970 is shown in a partially seated configuration 975B relative to the proximal end 954P of the upper mounting member 954. More specifically, the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 is positioned so that the lock distal end 970D engages the connector assembly 940 (e.g., Fig. 9A The proximal end 940P (as shown) Fig. 9A 954), but does not fully engage the proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954, thereby inhibiting rotation of the key lock 970 relative to the upper mount 954. Thus, in such a position, the key lock 970 and the connector assembly 940 (in which the insert holder assembly 16 (as shown) is fixedly fixed) are not completely engaged with the proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954, thereby inhibiting rotation of the key lock 970 relative to the upper mount 954. Figure 1B ) will rotate with each other, but the key lock 970 can be rotated relative to the upper mounting member 954, thereby allowing relative rotation between the insert retainer assembly 16 and the container body 12.
[0251] Fig.13AAlso shown in FIG. 9 are a first seated adjustment member 979A coupled to and / or integrally formed into a lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970, and a second seated adjustment member 979B coupled to and / or integrally formed into a mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954. As shown, the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 is positioned in a partially seated configuration 975B such that the first seated adjustment member 979A is substantially directly adjacent to the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954. However, the first seated adjustment member 979A is rotationally offset from the second seated adjustment member 979B about a lock axis 970X of the key lock 970. Thus, when the key lock 970 is in this position relative to the upper mount 954, i.e., the key lock 970 is in the partially seated configuration 975B, but the first seated adjustment member 979A is rotationally offset relative to the second seated adjustment member 979B, the key lock 970 cannot simply move (slide) from the partially seated configuration 975B to the fully seated configuration 975A (e.g., the first seated adjustment member 979A is rotationally offset relative to the second seated adjustment member 979B) relative to the upper mount 954 and the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940. Fig. 9A shown).
[0252] Fig. 13B yes Fig.13A , again including the key lock 970 and the upper mount 954, and again showing the key lock 970 in a partially seated configuration 975B relative to the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954. Fig.13A As shown, in Fig. 13B , the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 is positioned so that the lock distal end 970D engages the connector assembly 940 (eg, Fig. 9A The proximal end 940P (as shown) Fig. 9A 954), but does not fully engage the proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954, so that the key lock 970 is inhibited from rotating relative to the upper mount 954. Therefore, in such a position, the key lock 970 and the connector assembly 940 (in which the insert holder assembly 16 (such as Figure 1B ) will rotate with each other, but the key lock 970 can be rotated relative to the upper mounting member 954, thereby allowing relative rotation between the insert retainer assembly 16 and the container body 12.
[0253] Fig. 13BAlso shown in FIG. 1 are first seated adjustment members 979A coupled to and / or integrally formed into the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970, and second seated adjustment members 979B coupled to and / or integrally formed into the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954. As shown, the lock distal end 970D of the key lock 970 is again positioned in a partially seated configuration 975B such that the first seated adjustment member 979A is substantially directly adjacent to the mount proximal end 954P of the upper mount 954. However, as shown in FIG. Fig. 13B As shown, the key lock 970 has been rotated about the lock axis 970X relative to the proximal end 954P of the upper mounting member 954 (with respect to the Fig.13A 979A is now rotationally aligned with the second seat adjustment member 979B. Thus, when the key lock 970 is in this position relative to the upper mount 954, i.e., the key lock 970 is in a partially seated configuration, and the first seat adjustment member 979A is rotationally aligned with the second seat adjustment member 979B, the key lock 970 can simply move (slide) from the partially seated configuration 975B to the fully seated configuration 975A (as shown by arrow 975) relative to the upper mount 954 and the proximal end 940P of the connector assembly 940 along the lock axis 970X (as shown by arrow 975). Fig. 9A ). When the key lock 970 is subsequently in the fully seated configuration 975A, the first seat adjustment member 979A engages the second seat adjustment member 979B, thereby inhibiting relative rotation between the key lock 970 and the upper mount 954, and inhibiting relative rotation between the insert holder assembly 16 and the container body 12.
[0254] Fig.14A is a simplified perspective schematic diagram of a portion of an embodiment of a cover door assembly 1430 having features of the present invention, which cover door assembly 1430 can be used as a container assembly 10 (such as Figure 1A In many embodiments, the cover door assembly 1430 is configured to selectively cover and seal the container body 12 (as shown). Figure 1A The top 1426 (as shown) Fig. 14C The insert opening 28 (as shown) is formed Figure 1A In addition, in certain embodiments, as described herein, the cover door assembly 1430 will also include a seal 1429 (eg, Fig. 14C 1429) to help seal the insert opening 28 when the cover door assembly 1430 covers the insert opening 28. However, for clarity, the seal 1429 is not shown in FIG. Fig.14A Shown in.
[0255] The design of the cover door assembly 1430 can vary. In some embodiments, such as Fig.14AAs shown, cover door assembly 1430 may include cover door 1480, door support arm 1482, and door adjustment screw 1484. Alternatively, cover door assembly 1430 may have a different design, having more or fewer components than those specifically noted.
[0256] The cover door 1480 is sized and shaped to selectively cover and seal the insert opening 28 (from the bottom) formed through the top 1426 of the container body 12. More specifically, the cover door 1480 and / or the cover door assembly 1430 can be selectively moved relative to the insert opening 28 between (i) a closed configuration and (ii) an open configuration, in which the cover door 1480 covers and seals the insert opening 28 relative to the remaining portion of the top 1426 of the container body 12, so that the liquid 13 (such as Figure 2B 1426 of the container body 12, and in the open configuration, the cover door 1480 does not cover and / or seal the insert opening 28 relative to the remainder of the top 1426 of the container body 12. When the cover door 1480 and / or the cover door assembly 1430 are in the closed configuration, the insert opening 28 is closed and sealed, and the liquid 13 retained in the container body 12 cannot be accessed through the insert opening 28. Conversely, when the cover door 1480 and / or the cover door assembly 1430 are in the open configuration, the insert opening 28 is open, and the liquid 13 in the container body 12 can be accessed for any suitable purpose during the aging process.
[0257] exist Fig.14A In the illustrated embodiment, the door support arm 1482 is substantially rectangular-shaped and is configured to extend over a portion of the cover door 1480. Alternatively, the door support arm 1482 may have another suitable shape and / or may be positioned in another suitable manner.
[0258] In some embodiments, the door adjustment screw 1484 can be a threaded screw that is movably coupled to the door support arm 1482 and the cover door 1480 and is configured to enable the cover door 1480 and / or the cover door assembly 1430 to effectively move between the closed configuration and the open configuration. Specifically, the door adjustment screw 1484 can move (rotate) relative to the cover door 1480 and / or the door support arm 1482 so that the cover door 1480 and / or the cover door assembly 1430 can selectively move between the closed configuration and the open configuration.
[0259] Fig. 14B yes Fig.14A 1430 is a simplified top view of the cover door assembly 1430 shown in FIG. Fig. 14B is a simplified top view schematically illustrating again the cover door 1480 , door support arm 1482 , and door adjustment screw 1484 that may be included as part of the cover door assembly 1430 .
[0260] Fig. 14C is along Fig. 14B 14C-14C is a simplified cross-sectional schematic diagram of the cover door assembly 1430. Fig. 14C Another view of a cover door 1480, a door support arm 1482, and a door adjustment screw 1484 that may be included as part of the cover door assembly 1430 is provided. Fig. 14C A portion of the container body 12 (i.e., a portion of the top 1426) is also shown positioned between the cover door 1480 and the door support arm 1482. As shown, the cover door 1480 is configured to be mounted on the container body 12 (i.e., Figure 1A The chamber 12A (as shown) formed in Figure 1B The insert opening 28 (as shown) in Figure 1A shown). Fig. 14C Also shown is a seal 1429 that may be positioned between the top 1426 and the cover door 1480.
[0261] Previous cover doors have the potential problem that when the cover door is moved between the closed configuration and the open configuration, the cover door will inadvertently fall into the liquid in the chamber formed in the container body. The cover door assembly 1430 described herein is configured to inhibit any such occurrence.
[0262] like Fig. 14C In the illustrated embodiment, during use of the cover door assembly 1430, the door adjustment screw 1484 is positioned to extend completely through a threaded arm hole 1482A formed through the door support arm 1482 and then at least partially into a threaded door hole 1480A formed in the cover door 1480. Alternatively, the door adjustment screw 1484 can have another suitable design and / or the door adjustment screw 1484 can be coupled to the cover door 1480 and / or the door support arm 1482 in another suitable manner.
[0263] Tightening the door adjustment screw 1484 relative to the door support arm 1482 and the cover door 1480 moves the cover door 1480 and / or the cover door assembly 1430 toward the closed configuration. More specifically, tightening the door adjustment screw 1484 pulls the cover door 1480 upward toward and against the top 1426 of the container body 12 adjacent to the insert opening 28. When fully tightened, the cover door 1480 and / or the cover door assembly 1430 is in the closed configuration and the insert opening 28 is fully closed and sealed such that the liquid 13 retained within the container body 12 cannot be accessed through the insert opening 28. As described above, in Fig. 14C Also shown is a seal 1429 configured to effectively seal the insert opening 28 when the cover door assembly 1430 is in the closed configuration.
[0264] Conversely, as the door adjustment screw 1484 is loosened, the cover door 1480 gradually moves away from the insert opening 28, so that any desired access to the liquid 13 retained in the container body 12 can be obtained through the insert opening 28. More specifically, when the door adjustment screw 1484 is loosened, the cover door 1480 moves slightly downward into the chamber 12A formed in the container body 12. As the cover door 1480 is thus moved toward the open configuration, the operator can grasp and rotate the door support arm 1482 relative to the cover door 1480 so that the cover door 1480 can be moved completely away from the insert opening 28, so that any desired access to the liquid 13 retained in the container body 12 can be obtained through the insert opening 28.
[0265] However, in order to inhibit or prevent the cover door 1480 from accidentally falling into the container body 12, even when fully loosened, the door adjustment screw 1484 remains attached to the door support arm 1482 and the cover door 1480, so that when the cover door 1480 and / or the cover door assembly 1430 are in the closed configuration and the open configuration, the cover door 1480 remains connected to the container body 12. More specifically, as shown in FIG. Fig. 14C As shown, the cover door assembly 1430 can also include a disengagement inhibitor 1488, such as a pin in a non-exclusive embodiment, which is coupled to the door adjustment screw 1484 and prevents the door adjustment screw 1484 from being completely disengaged and / or removed from the door hole 1480A. It should also be understood that using the door support arm 1482 as a handle can further inhibit the cover door 1480 from accidentally falling or falling into the container body 12.
[0266] It should be understood that although many different embodiments of the container assembly 10 have been illustrated and described herein, one or more features of any one embodiment may be combined with one or more features of one or more other embodiments as long as such combination meets the intent of the present invention.
[0267] Although many exemplary aspects and embodiments of the container assembly 10 have been discussed above, those skilled in the art will recognize certain modifications, permutations, additions, and sub-combinations thereof. It is therefore contemplated that the following appended claims and claims hereafter introduced are interpreted to include all such modifications, permutations, additions, and sub-combinations thereof within their true spirit and scope.
