[0037] In one embodiment, an optical system 110 may be provided on top of the display 106 that projects the image displayed on the display 106 into the user's eyes. The optical system may include one or more lenses. The lenses may be concave. The optical system 110 is located between the display and the user's eyes.

[0038] In one embodiment, the HMD may also include a gesture sensor operable to detect when the user is looking at the display to start projecting an image. In another embodiment, there may be a sensor to measure eye focal length to adjust the optical focus of the image to the focus of the eye.

[0039] Figure 2 An example of an optical system with a display is shown. Here, the optical system 202 is placed between the display 204 and the user's eyes. The optical system 202 forms a virtual image 206 at a greater distance from the user's face after being projected into the user's eyes 210. The virtual image 206 is also magnified to enable easy access to information and data from the display 204. Figure 3A An example of a head mounted device with two displays according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. Here, one or more displays (302-1, 302-2) can be mounted on a frame 310. Here, for example, the frame 310 includes the structure of glasses. An optical system can be arranged on the top of the display (302-1, 302-2), which projects the image from the display 106 into the user's eyes. The optical system is located between the display and the user's eyes. The display (302-1, 302-2) can be mounted on the glasses frame 310 or separately mounted near the edge of the frame arm 304. The combination of two displays (302-1, 302-2) can cover a wider field of view. For example, from one side to the center can be covered by the first display (e.g., 302-1) and from the center to the other side can be covered by the second display (302-2).

[0040] In another embodiment, the electronic system 306 is coupled adjacent to another edge of the arm 304. The electronic system may include a processing unit, a communication unit, a synchronization unit, and a power supply unit. The processing unit may include a processor for executing instructions. The communication unit may be configured to communicate with the electronic system and the display unit. The data processing unit may be coupled between the electronic system and the display unit through the arm to send and receive data and instructions from the display unit and other units.

[0041] Figure 3B An example of a head mounted device with two displays according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. Here, one or more displays (302-1, 302-2) can be mounted on a frame 310 where images will be seen simultaneously. In one case, a display (e.g., 302-1) can be mounted adjacent to the edge of the eyeglass frame 310 or separately adjacent to the edge of a frame arm 304. Other displays (e.g., 302-4) can be mounted farther from the edge of the frame. Here, when the user's eyes tilt toward the displays, the content of both displays is projected into the eyes (each display is projected to a different eye). This feature can be used to display 3D images, increase resolution, or add color by displaying different colors to each display.

[0042] Figure 3CAn example of a head mounted device with two displays according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. The two displays (302-5, 302-6) can be mounted on a frame 310 where the images will be seen simultaneously. Here, the displays (302-5, 302-6) are further away from the edge of the frame 310. In one embodiment, transparent data and power lines can pass through the lens to transmit signals and power to the displays placed away from the edge of the frame.

[0043] In another embodiment, coils within the frame may be coupled to a display to deliver signals and power to a display positioned away from the edge of the frame.

[0044] Figure 4 An example of a head mounted device with multiple displays according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. Here, multiple displays 402 can be mounted on a frame for each eye. As the eye moves around the different displays, an optical system integrated on top of the display can project all or part of the image onto the eye. According to one embodiment, image stitching techniques can be used to create a unified image. In addition, when the user needs some information, depending on the position of the eye, one of the displays can start projecting an image into the eye.
