Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present disclosure relates to wireless communications, and in particular to methods and apparatus for determining the size of a transport block (TB). Background Art

[0002] Interleaved resource block (RB) based transmission can be performed in sidelink (SL) unlicensed system. The frequency resource allocation granularity is one subchannel for physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) transmission, and one subchannel can be configured with one or more interlaces. In NR-U, one RB set can consist of 10 interlaces for subcarrier spacing (SCS) of 15kHz and 5 interlaces for SCS of 30kHz, respectively.

[0003] In the case where the number of RBs in an RB set is not an integer multiple of the total number of interlaces, the interlaces may have unequal numbers of RBs, which may cause different numbers of RBs in different subchannels. In sidelink transmissions, the size of the TB used for initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions should be the same, and the size of the TB may be determined based on the size of the RBs contained in the subchannel. Since the subchannels used for different transmissions of the TB are different, the Rx UE may not be clear about how to determine the size of the TB.

[0004] In addition, different time slots used for PSSCH transmission may have different starting symbols, which may also affect the determination of the size of the TB used for initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions.

[0032] Figure 1 A wireless communication system 100 (eg, a SL-U communication system) is shown in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0033] like Figure 1As shown in , the wireless communication system 100 includes a base station (e.g., BS102) and some UEs (e.g., UE101-A, UE 101-B, UE 101-C, and UE 101-D). UE 101-A and UE 101-B are within the coverage of BS102, and UE 101-C and UE 101-D are outside the coverage of BS102. UE 101-A, UE 101-B, UE 101-C, and UE 101-D may perform sidelink unicast transmission, sidelink multicast transmission, or sidelink broadcast transmission in an unlicensed spectrum (e.g., SL BWP). UE 101-A, UE 101-B, UE 101-C, and UE 101-D may be referred to as SL UEs. It is contemplated that according to some other embodiments of the present disclosure, the SL-U communication system may include more BSs and more or fewer SL UEs.

[0034] In addition, despite Figure 1 The SL UE shown in the figure is shown in the shape of a mobile phone, but it is considered that according to some other embodiments of the present disclosure, the SL communication system may include any type of UE (e.g., a roadmap device, a mobile phone, a computer, a laptop computer, an IoT device, or other types of devices).

[0035] according to Figure 1 In some embodiments, UE 101-A may be used as a Tx UE, and UE 101-B, UE 101-C, and UE 101-D may be used as Rx UEs. UE 101-A may exchange SL messages with UE 101-B or UE 101-C via a sidelink using, for example, NR technology or LTE technology via a PC5 interface as defined in a 3GPP document. UE 101-A may transmit information or data to (multiple) other UEs within the SL-U communication system via sidelink unicast, sidelink multicast, or sidelink broadcast. For example, UE 101-A may transmit data to UE 101-B in a sidelink unicast session. UE 101-A may transmit data to UE 101-B and UE 101-C in a multicast group via a sidelink multicast transmission session. Moreover, UE 101-A may transmit data to UE 101-B and UE 101-C via a sidelink broadcast transmission session.

[0036] Alternatively, according to Figure 1 In some other embodiments, UE 101-B or UE 101-C may function as a Tx UE and transmit information or data, and UE 101-A may function as a Rx UE and receive information or data from UE 101-B or UE 101-C.

[0037] Figure 1Both UE 101-A and UE 101-B in the embodiment of the present invention can transmit information to BS 102 and receive control information from BS 102, for example, via a Uu interface. BS 102 can define one or more cells, and each cell can have a coverage area. Figure 1 As shown in , both UE 101-A and UE 101-B are within the coverage of BS 102, while UE 101-C and UE 101-D are not within the coverage of BS 102.

[0038] like Figure 1 BS102 described and shown in the figure may not be a specific base station, but may be any base station in the SL-U communication system. For example, assuming that the SL-U communication system includes two BSs, then UE 101-A being within the coverage area of either of the two BSs may be referred to as a situation where UE 101-A is within the coverage area of the BS in the SL-U communication system; and only UE 101-A being outside the coverage area(s) of the two BSs may be referred to as a situation where UE 101-A is outside the coverage area of the BS in the SL-U communication system.

[0039] The UE may operate in different modes. At least the following two sidelink resource allocation modes are defined for sidelink communication: Resource allocation mode 1: the BS may schedule (multiple) sidelink resources for the UE to use for (multiple) sidelink transmissions; and Resource allocation mode 2: the UE may determine (multiple) sidelink transmission resources within the sidelink resources configured by the BS or the network or the pre-configured sidelink resources. In resource allocation mode 2, the BS may not schedule sidelink resources for the UE. Figure 1 In some embodiments, UE 101-A and UE 101-B may be in resource allocation mode 1, and UE 101-C and UE 101-D may be in resource allocation mode 2. In some other cases, UE 101-A and UE 101-B may also operate in resource allocation mode 2. In the following text of this disclosure, "mode 1" may refer to resource allocation mode 1, and "mode 2" may refer to resource allocation mode 2.

[0040] Figure 2 An interleaving structure in the frequency domain according to some embodiments of the present disclosure is shown.

[0041] Figure 2 A frequency band with a bandwidth of 20 MHz and an SCS of 15 kHz is shown, and the number of RBs in the frequency band is equal to 106, which includes RB#0, RB#1, ..., RB#105. 10 interlaces (e.g., interlace#0, interlace#1, ... and interlace#9) are included in the frequency band.

[0042] Specifically, interlace #0 includes 11 RBs, which are: RB #0, RB #10, ..., RB #90, and RB #100. Similarly, interlace #1 includes 11 RBs, which are: RB #1, RB #11, ..., and RB #101. ... Interlace #5 includes 11 RBs, which are: RB #5, RB #15, ..., and RB #105. That is, for interlace #0 to interlace #5, each interlace includes 11 RBs.

[0043] Interlace #6 includes 10 RBs, which are: RB #6, RB #16, ..., and RB #96. Similarly, interlace #7 includes 10 RBs, which are: RB #7, RB #17, ..., and RB #97. ... Interlace #9 includes 10 RBs, which are: RB #9, RB #19, ..., and RB #99. That is, for interlace #6 to interlace #9, each interlace includes 10 RBs.

[0044] In the SL-U system, the UE may perform a channel sensing operation, such as a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure, before any transmission. The granularity of the channel sensing operation may be an RB set. The size of an RB set may be from 100 RBs to 110 RBs for a 15kHz SCS, or from 50 RBs to 55 RBs for a 30kHz SCS, except that a maximum of one RB set may contain 56 RBs.

[0045] When the total number of RBs is not an integer multiple of the total number of interlaces, the interlaces may have unequal numbers of RBs. Figure 2 As shown in , each of interlaces #0 to #5 includes 11 RBs, and each of interlaces #6 to #9 includes 10 RBs.

[0046] The granularity of PSSCH transmission is one subchannel and each subchannel can be composed of several interlaces. For example, for SCS = 15kHz, 5 subchannels can be configured and each subchannel can be composed of 2 interlaces:

[0047] - Subchannel #0 consists of interlace #0 and interlace #1, so a total of 22 RBs are included in subchannel #0;

[0048] - Subchannel #1 consists of interlace #2 and interlace #3, so a total of 22 RBs are included in subchannel #1;

[0049] - Subchannel #2 consists of interlace #4 and interlace #5, so a total of 22 RBs are included in subchannel #2;

[0050] - Subchannel #3 consists of interlace #6 and interlace #7, so a total of 20 RBs are included in subchannel #3;

[0051] and

[0052] - Subchannel #4 consists of interlace #8 and interlace #9, so a total of 20 RBs are included in subchannel #4.

[0053] In order to transmit a TB, the initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions of the TB should have the same size, that is, the size of the TB used for the initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions should be the same. However, the Tx UE and / or Rx UE may not know how to determine the size of the TB based on the size of the subchannel because different subchannels may include different numbers of RBs.

[0054] Figure 3 Multiple transmissions of TBs are shown according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0055] exist Figure 3 In the example, the first transmission (i.e., initial transmission of the TB) is performed in subchannel #0 including 22 RBs, the second transmission (i.e., retransmission of the TB) is performed in subchannel #4 including 20 RBs, and the third transmission (i.e., retransmission of the TB) is performed in subchannel #2 including 22 RBs, the Tx UE can determine the sizes of the TBs used for the first transmission, the second transmission, and the third transmission. However, on the Rx UE side, the size of the TB is unclear, in other words, the Rx UE does not know how to determine the size of the TB.

[0056] Figure 4 Multiple transmissions of TBs are shown according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0057] Figure 4 4 time slots are shown in FIG, i.e., time slot #0, time slot #1, time slot #2, and time slot #3. The Tx UE may perform a first transmission (i.e., initial transmission of a TB) in time slot #0, a second transmission in time slot #1, a third transmission in time slot #2, and a fourth transmission (i.e., retransmission of a TB) in time slot #3. When multiple starting positions are supported, if the UE successfully accesses a channel with LBT, the UE may perform a first transmission using fewer symbols than a time slot-based transmission, and perform a second, third, and fourth transmission in subsequent time slots.

[0058] For example, in time slot #0, an additional start symbol may be configured. For example, the additional start symbol may be symbol #7. The UE may perform the first transmission in symbol #7 to symbol #13. In some other cases, automatic gain control (AGC) symbols and gap symbols may be excluded from the available symbols for transmission of TBs.

[0059] In case of different numbers of symbols in different slots for transmission of PSSCH, the Tx UE also needs to ensure that the same size TB is used for all transmissions of the TB. That is, the Tx UE can determine the size of the TB using both subslot-based transmission and slot-based transmission.

[0060] The present disclosure proposes some solutions for determining the size of a TB using different subchannel sizes based on interleaved RBs and determining the size of a TB using different total numbers of symbols in different time slots.

[0061] Solution 1:

[0062] In solution 1, the UE may be forced to use subchannels with the same size (eg, subchannels with the same number of RBs) for initial transmission and retransmission of TBs, and the UE may determine the size of the TB based on the actual number of RBs allocated for PSSCH transmission.

[0063] In this solution, the Tx UE is only allowed to perform initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions of a TB on subchannels with the same total number of RBs. On the Rx UE side, it can determine the size of the TB based on the actual number of RBs allocated for PSSCH transmission.

[0064] For a UE operating in sidelink resource allocation mode 1, since resources for transmission of TBs are allocated by the BS, the BS can ensure that transmissions of TBs (including initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions) have the same number of RBs.

[0065] For UEs operating in sidelink resource allocation mode 2, the UE may perform sensing and resource selection processes according to the number of subchannels indicated by higher layers. The sizes of the selected subchannels are the same, so each candidate resource may include the same total number of RBs.

[0066] The UE may be forced to use subchannels with the same total number of RBs for sidelink transmission of TBs, which may affect the sensing and resource selection process. Therefore, during the sensing and resource selection process, the following solution is proposed.

[0067] Solution 1-1:

[0068] The UE may report the candidate resource sets to its higher layer, and each resource in the candidate resource set may include the same frequency domain resource size, such as the same total number of RBs.

[0069] For example, in the case where the higher layers of the UE indicate a number of subchannels, such as N subchannels (N is a positive integer), the UE may determine the total number of possible RBs included in the N subchannels. The UE may determine a total number of RBs among all possible total numbers of RBs (which will be reported to the higher layers of the UE), and may also report a candidate resource set containing one or more subchannels with the determined total number of RBs.

[0070] The determination may be performed using the following options:

[0071] Option 1: The UE can determine the total number of RBs based on UE implementation;

[0072] Option 2: The UE may determine the maximum number of candidate resources in a time slot (e.g., the maximum total number of RBs of sub-channels in a time slot); or

[0073] Option 3: The UE may determine the minimum number of candidate resources in one slot (eg, the minimum total number of RBs for subchannels in one slot).

[0074] For example, Figure 3 As shown in FIG. 1 , in the case where the higher layer of the UE indicates one subchannel, the possible number of RBs included in one subchannel may be one of {20, 22} RBs. During the sensing process, the UE may determine which number of RBs will be reported to its higher layer. For example, the UE may determine the maximum number of candidate resources that can be reported in one time slot, and then the UE may determine that the total number of RBs to be reported is 22. Since subchannel #0, subchannel #1, and subchannel #2 include 22 RBs, the UE may report a candidate resource set containing {subchannel #0, subchannel #1, subchannel #2} based on its sensing results.

[0075] For another example, Figure 3 As shown in , in the case where the higher layers of the UE indicate two subchannels, the possible number of RBs included in one subchannel may be one of {44, 42, 40} RBs, and during the sensing process, the UE may determine which number of RBs will be reported to its higher layers. For example, the UE may determine the maximum number of candidate resources that can be reported in one time slot, and therefore the total number of RBs to be reported is 44. Since the total number of RBs included in the candidate resource set including subchannel #0 and subchannel #1 is 44, and the total number of RBs included in the candidate resource set including subchannel #1 and subchannel #2 is 44, the UE may report the candidate resource set containing resources {subchannel #0, subchannel #1} and {subchannel #1, subchannel #2}. It should be noted that the two selected subchannels may be continuous in the frequency domain. In some other cases, the two selected subchannels may be non-contiguous in the frequency domain.

[0076] After reporting the candidate resource sets to its higher layers, the higher layers of the UE may perform resource selection from the candidate resource sets, and the selected resources may have the same total number of RBs.

[0077] Solution 1-2:

[0078] The UE may report a set of candidate resources, where the resources in the set may include different total numbers of RBs. During the resource selection process, the UE may select resources with the same total number of RBs. In particular, during the resource selection process, the UE is only allowed to select resources with the same total number of RBs for initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions. For example, the UE may randomly select a resource from the candidate resources for its initial transmission, and the selected resource may include several RBs. For retransmission of TBs, the UE is only allowed to select resources from the candidate resource set that also have the same number of RBs.

[0079] Solution 2:

[0080] In solution 2, the UE may perform transmission of TBs in subchannels having different subchannel sizes. The UE may determine the size of the TB based on a first reference number associated with frequency domain resources used for PSSCH transmission in an unlicensed spectrum, specifically, the first reference number may be associated with the subchannel size (or the size of a subchannel) or the number of RBs in a resource pool.

[0081] In some embodiments, the UE may determine the size of the TB based on the subchannel sizes among all configured subchannels in the resource pool.

[0082] Solution 2-1

[0083] The maximum size of all configured subchannels is used to calculate the size of the TB. The configured subchannels can contain different numbers of RBs, such as X1, X2, ..., X M (M is a positive integer), among these subchannels, there may be a channel containing the maximum number of RBs (i.e., max(X1,X2,…,X M )) and the maximum number of RBs is used as a reference number to determine the size of a TB. In some embodiments, M may be 2.

[0084] For example, Figure 3 As shown in , each of subchannel #0, subchannel #1 and subchannel #2 includes 22 RBs, and each of subchannel #3 and subchannel #4 includes 20 RBs, the maximum size of the subchannel is 22 RBs, and the UE can determine the size of the TB based on the 22 RBs.

[0085] Solution 2-2

[0086] The minimum size of all configured subchannels is used to calculate the size of the TB. The configured subchannels can contain different numbers of RBs, such as X1, X2, ..., X M (M is a positive integer), among these subchannels, there may be a channel containing the minimum number of RBs (i.e., min(X1, X2, ..., X M )) and the minimum number of RBs is used as a reference number to determine the size of a TB. In some embodiments, M may be 2.

[0087] For example, Figure 3 As shown in , each of subchannel #0, subchannel #1 and subchannel #2 includes 22 RBs, and each of subchannel #3 and subchannel #4 includes 20 RBs, the minimum size of the subchannel is 20 RBs, and the UE can determine the size of the TB based on the 20 RBs.

[0088] Solution 2-3

[0089] The average size of all configured subchannels is used to calculate the size of the TB. The configured subchannels may include different numbers of RBs, for example, the number of RBs may include: X1, X2, ..., X M The average size of a subchannel can be (X1+X2+X M ) / M, and is used as a reference number to determine the size of a TB. In some embodiments, M may be 2. Alternatively, in X1, X2, ..., X M There may be several different numbers of RBs. Assuming there are three different numbers of RBs, they can be expressed as: A , X B , X C , where X A , X B , X C The average size of these different numbers (i.e., (X A +X B +X C ) / 3) can be used as a reference number to determine the size of a TB.

[0090] For example, Figure 3 As shown in FIG. 1 , each of subchannel #0, subchannel #1, and subchannel #2 includes 22 RBs, and each of subchannel #3 and subchannel #4 includes 20 RBs. Different numbers of RBs include 20 and 22. Therefore, the average size of the subchannel is (20+22) / 2=21 RBs. The UE can determine the size of the TB based on the number (21 RBs).

[0091] In some embodiments, the UE may determine the size of the TB based on the total number of possible RBs for one or more allocated subchannels.

[0092] Solutions 2-4

[0093] The maximum total number of RBs among multiple possible total numbers of RBs of one or more allocated subchannels may be used to calculate the size of the TB. The allocated subchannels may include different numbers of RBs. For example, the number of RBs that may be included in a subchannel may include: Y1, Y2, ..., Y M .

[0094] In some embodiments, M may be 2. In the case where one subchannel is allocated for PSSCH transmission, the total number of possible RBs for the allocated subchannel may include {Y1, Y2}, and the maximum number of RBs (i.e., max(Y1, Y2)) may be used as a reference number to determine the size of the TB. In the case where two subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the UE may determine the total number of all possible RBs for the two allocated subchannels, and the maximum number of RBs may be used as a reference number to determine the size of the TB. It should be noted that the two allocated subchannels may be continuous in the frequency domain. In some other cases, the two allocated subchannels may be discontinuous in the frequency domain.

[0095] In the case where Z subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission (Z is a positive integer), the UE may determine the total number of possible RBs for the Z allocated subchannels and use the maximum total number of RBs among these possible total numbers of RBs to calculate the size of the TB. It should be noted that the Z allocated subchannels may be continuous in the frequency domain. In some other cases, the Z allocated subchannels may be discontinuous in the frequency domain.

[0096] In case all subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the UE may calculate the size of the TB using the total number of RBs of all allocated subchannels.

[0097] For example, Figure 3 As shown in , in the case where one subchannel is allocated for PSSCH transmission, a plurality of possible numbers of RBs included in one subchannel may include {22, 20}, and the maximum number of RBs is 22, so 22 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0098] In the case where two subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the possible total number of RBs included in the two subchannels may include {44, 42, 40}, and the maximum total number of RBs for the two allocated subchannels is 44, so 44 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0099] In the case where three subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the possible total number of RBs included in the three subchannels may include {66, 64, 62}, and the maximum total number of RBs for the three allocated subchannels is 66, so 66 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0100] In the case where four subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the possible total number of RBs included in the four subchannels may include {86, 84}, and the maximum total number of RBs for the four allocated subchannels is 86, so 86 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0101] In the case where five subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission (ie, all subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission), the total number of possible RBs may be only 106, and thus 106 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0102] Solutions 2-5

[0103] The minimum total number of RBs among multiple possible total numbers of RBs of one or more allocated subchannels may be used to calculate the size of the TB. The allocated subchannels may include different numbers of RBs. For example, the number of RBs that may be included in a subchannel may include: Y1, Y2, ..., Y M .

[0104] In some embodiments, M may be 2. In the case where one subchannel is allocated for PSSCH transmission, the total number of possible RBs for the allocated subchannel may include {Y1, Y2}, and the minimum number of RBs (i.e., min(Y1, Y2)) may be used as a reference number to determine the size of the TB. In the case where two subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the UE may determine the total number of all possible RBs for the two allocated subchannels, and the minimum number of RBs may be used as a reference number to determine the size of the TB. It should be noted that the two allocated subchannels may be continuous in the frequency domain. In some other cases, the two allocated subchannels may be discontinuous in the frequency domain.

[0105] In the case where Z subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the UE may determine the total number of possible RBs for the Z allocated subchannels and use the minimum total number of RBs among these possible total numbers of RBs to calculate the size of the TB. It should be noted that the Z allocated subchannels may be continuous in the frequency domain. In some other cases, the Z allocated subchannels may be discontinuous in the frequency domain.

[0106] In case all subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the UE may calculate the size of the TB using the total number of RBs of all allocated subchannels.

[0107] For example, Figure 3 As shown in , in the case where one subchannel is allocated for PSSCH transmission, a plurality of possible numbers of RBs included in one subchannel may include {22, 20}, and the minimum number of RBs is 20, so 20 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0108] In the case where two subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the possible total number of RBs included in the two subchannels may include {44, 42, 40}, and the minimum total number of RBs for the two allocated subchannels is 40, so 40 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0109] In the case where three subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the possible total number of RBs included in the three subchannels may include {66, 64, 62}, and the minimum total number of RBs for the three allocated subchannels is 62, so 62 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0110] In the case where four subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the possible total number of RBs included in the four subchannels may include {86, 84}, and the minimum total number of RBs for the four allocated subchannels is 84, so 84 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0111] In the case where five subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission (ie, all subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission), the total number of possible RBs may be only 106, and thus 106 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0112] Solutions 2-6

[0113] The average total number of RBs among multiple possible total numbers of RBs of one or more allocated subchannels may be used to calculate the size of the TB. The allocated subchannels may include different numbers of RBs. For example, the number of RBs that may be included in a subchannel may include: Y1, Y2, ..., Y M .

[0114] In some embodiments, M may be 2. In the case where one subchannel is allocated for PSSCH transmission, the total number of possible RBs for the allocated subchannel may include {Y1, Y2}, and the average number of RBs (i.e., (Y1+Y2) / 2) may be used as a reference number to determine the size of the TB. In the case where two subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the UE may determine the total number of all possible RBs for the two allocated subchannels, and the average number of RBs may be used as a reference number to determine the size of the TB. It should be noted that the two allocated subchannels may be continuous in the frequency domain. In some other cases, the two allocated subchannels may be discontinuous in the frequency domain.

[0115] In the case where Z subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the UE may determine the total number of possible RBs for the Z allocated subchannels and use the average total number of RBs among these possible total numbers of RBs to calculate the size of the TB. It should be noted that the Z allocated subchannels may be continuous in the frequency domain. In some other cases, the Z allocated subchannels may be discontinuous in the frequency domain.

[0116] In case all subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the UE may calculate the size of the TB using the total number of RBs of all allocated subchannels.

[0117] For example, Figure 3 As shown in , in the case where one subchannel is allocated for PSSCH transmission, multiple possible total RBs may include {22, 20}, and the average total RB of the multiple possible total RBs is 21, so 21 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0118] In case two subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the possible total number of RBs may include {44, 42, 40}, and the average total number of RBs of multiple possible total numbers of RBs for two allocated subchannels is 42, so 42 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0119] In the case where three subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the possible total number of RBs may include {66, 64, 62}, and the average total number of RBs of multiple possible total numbers of RBs for three allocated subchannels is 64, so 64 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0120] In case four subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission, the total possible RBs may include {86, 84}, and the average total RB of multiple possible total RBs for four allocated subchannels is 85, so 85 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0121] In the case where five subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission (ie, all subchannels are allocated for PSSCH transmission), the total number of possible RBs may be only 106, and thus 106 RBs are used to calculate the size of the TB.

[0122] Using the first reference number associated with the size of the subchannel or the total number of RBs, the UE can determine the size of the TB and can perform initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions of the TB with the determined size. In other words, the initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions of the TB have the same size.

[0123] After determining a first reference number (i.e., a subchannel size or a total number of RBs) associated with a frequency domain resource for PSSCH transmission in an unlicensed spectrum, the Tx UE may transmit an indicator (or indication, message, information element (IE), field, or the like) indicating the first reference number to the Rx UE. The indicator may be transmitted in an SCI (e.g., a first level SCI or a second level SCI).

[0124] For solutions 2-1 to 2-3, the Tx UE may indicate the size of the subchannel to the Rx UE. Figure 3As shown in , the possible size of the subchannel may be {20, 22} RBs. The Tx UE may transmit an indicator in the SCI to the Rx UE to indicate the size of the subchannel (e.g., 20 RBs or 22 RBs), which is used to calculate the size of the TB. On the Rx UE side, after receiving the indicator, the Rx UE may determine the size of the TB based on the reference size of the subchannel, and perform SL reception using the determined size of the TB.

[0125] In order to ensure a fixed payload size of the indicator, the size of the indicator is based on the possible size of the subchannel. For example, in solution 2-1, the indicator may include 1 bit, where one value (e.g., "0") indicates a size of 20 RBs, and another value (e.g., "1") indicates a size of 22 RBs. In the case where 105 RBs (which may include RB#0, ..., RB#104) are configured in an RB set, the possible sizes of the subchannels may include: {22, 21, 20} RBs. For example, each of subchannel #0 and subchannel #1 includes 22 RBs, subchannel #2 includes 21 RBs, and each of subchannel #3 and subchannel #4 includes 20 RBs. The indicator may include 2 bits, where one value (e.g., "00") indicates a size of 20 RBs, another value (e.g., "01") indicates a size of 21 RBs, and another value (e.g., "10") indicates a size of 22 RBs.

[0126] For solutions 2-4 to 2-6, the Tx UE may indicate the size of the total number of RBs to the Rx UE.

[0127] As described in Solutions 2-4 to 2-6, in the case of allocating one subchannel, the possible total number of RBs may be {20, 22} RBs; in the case of allocating two subchannels, the possible total number of RBs may be {44, 42, 40}; in the case of allocating three subchannels, the possible total number of RBs may be {66, 64, 62}; in the case of allocating four subchannels, the possible total number of RBs may be {86, 84}; in the case of allocating five subchannels (all subchannels), the possible total number of RBs may be 106.

[0128] To ensure the same payload size of the indicator, the maximum size of the total possible RBs for different allocated subchannels may be used to calculate the size of the indicator, since in the above case the maximum size of the total possible RB set is 3, thus the indicator requires 2 bits.

[0129] Solution 3

[0130] In solution 3, the UE may perform transmission of TBs in slots of different lengths (eg, slots with different numbers of symbols). The UE may determine the size of the TB based on a second reference number associated with the total number of symbols in the slot used for PSSCH transmission.

[0131] The present disclosure proposes that, in addition to configuring the start point of a time slot, multiple start positions may also be configured. For example, if the UE successfully accesses the channel in a certain symbol of a time slot, the UE may perform sidelink transmission in the time slot. In order to ensure that the same size of TB is used for sub-time slot-based transmission and time slot-based transmission of the TB, the present disclosure proposes the following solutions:

[0132] Solution 3-1

[0133] The maximum number of symbols among the total number of symbols included in all time slots used for PSSCH transmission is used to calculate the size of TB. The total number of symbols included in different time slots may include S1, S2, ..., S Q (Q is the number of time slots). Among these time slots, there may be a time slot containing the maximum total number of symbols (i.e., max(S1, S2, ..., S Q )) and the maximum total number of symbols is used as a reference number to determine the size of the TB.

[0134] For example, in Figure 4 , assuming that the starting position starting from the 7th symbol in slot #0 is configured as an additional starting position for PSSCH transmission, the total number of symbols included in slot #0 is 7 (symbol #7, symbol #8, ..., symbol #13). For slot #1, slot #2, and slot #3, the total number of symbols included in slot #1, slot #2, and slot #3 is 14. Therefore, the maximum total number of symbols among the total number of symbols included in all slots for PSSCH transmission is 14. The UE can determine the size of the TB based on 14 symbols.

[0135] In some other cases, some symbols (such as AGC symbols, guard symbols, gap symbols, etc.) may be excluded, so the total number of symbols included in the time slot may be less than 14 (such as 12, 13 or other numbers). Figure 4 In the example, the total number of symbols included in slot #1, slot #2, and slot #3 may be 12. Therefore, the maximum total number of symbols included in the total number of symbols in all slots used for PSSCH transmission is 12. The UE may determine the size of the TB based on the reference number 12 of the symbol.

[0136] Solution 3-2

[0137] The minimum total number of symbols among the total number of symbols included in all time slots used for PSSCH transmission is used to calculate the size of TB. The total number of symbols included in different time slots can be S1, S2, ..., S Q (Q is the number of time slots). Among these time slots, there may be a time slot containing the minimum total number of symbols (i.e., min(S1, S2, ..., S Q )) and the minimum total number of symbols is used as a reference number to determine the size of the TB.

[0138] For example, in Figure 4 In FIG. 1 , it is assumed that a starting position starting from the 7th symbol in slot #0 is configured as an additional starting position for PSSCH transmission, so the total number of symbols included in slot #0 is 7 (symbol #7, symbol #8, ..., symbol #13). For slot #1, slot #2, and slot #3, the total number of symbols included in slot #1, slot #2, and slot #3 is 14. Therefore, the minimum total number of symbols included in all slots for PSSCH transmission is 7. The UE can determine the size of the TB based on 14 symbols.

[0139] In some other cases, some symbols (such as AGC symbols, guard symbols, gap symbols, etc.) may be excluded, and therefore, the total number of symbols included in slot #0 may be less than 7 (for example, 5, 6, or other numbers). Therefore, the minimum total number of symbols among the total number of symbols included in all slots for PSSCH transmission is 5, 6, or other numbers. The UE may determine the size of the TB based on the reference number of symbols, 5 or 6, or other numbers.

[0140] Solution 3-3

[0141] The average total number of symbols among the total number of symbols included in all time slots used for PSSCH transmission is used to calculate the size of TB. The total number of symbols included in each of the Q time slots can be S1, S2, ..., S Q (Q is the total number of time slots, and S1, S2, ..., S Q The average total is: (S1+S2+…+S Q ) / Q. Alternatively, the average total number of symbols among the different total numbers of symbols contained in all time slots used for PSSCH transmission is used to calculate the size of the TB. The time slots may contain different total numbers of symbols, such as S1, S2, ..., S P (P is the total number of different symbols in the time slot, P is less than or equal to Q, and S1, S2, ..., S P The average total is: (S1+S2+…+S P ) / P. The average total number of symbols can be used as a reference number to determine the size of a TB.

[0142] For example, in Figure 4 , it is assumed that a starting position starting from the 7th symbol in slot #0 is configured as an additional starting position for PSSCH transmission, so the total number of symbols included in slot #0 is 7 (symbol #7, symbol #8, ..., symbol #13). For slot #1, slot #2, and slot #3, the total number of symbols included in slot #1, slot #2, and slot #3 is 14. Therefore, there may be two different total numbers of symbols, which are: 7 and 14. The average total number of symbols among the different total numbers of symbols is (7+14) / 2=10.5. The UE may determine the size of the TB based on 10.5 symbols.

[0143] After determining the second reference number (i.e., the total number of symbols) associated with the time domain resources for PSSCH transmission, the Tx UE may transmit the second reference number to the Rx UE. Specifically, the Tx UE may transmit the second reference number in a manner similar to the first reference number, such as in the SCI.

[0144] In some other cases, the Tx UE may transmit both the first reference number and the second reference number to the Rx UE, for example in the SCI.

[0145] Figure 5 A method for determining the size of a TB performed by a Tx UE according to some embodiments of the present disclosure is shown.

[0146] In operation 501, a UE (e.g., a Tx UE) may determine a size of a TB based on at least one of a first reference number or a second reference number, wherein the first reference number is associated with a frequency domain resource for PSSCH transmission in an unlicensed spectrum, and the second reference number is associated with a time domain resource for PSSCH transmission. In operation 502, the UE may perform an initial transmission and (multiple) retransmissions of a TB having the determined size.

[0150] In operation 603, the UE may receive an initial transmission and retransmission(s) of a TB having a determined size.

[0159] In some embodiments, the second reference number comprises one of the following:

[0163] In some embodiments, the total number of symbols in a time slot is determined based on the starting position in the time slot. Figure 4 The starting position in time slot #0 in can be symbol #7.
