Description

Technical Field

[0001] The invention relates to a circular comb brush for cleaning the combing segments of a circular comb of a combing machine. Background Art

[0002] In a combing machine, the hair ends (also called tufts) provided by the nipper unit are combed by the combing segments of a circular comb that is rotatably mounted below the nipper unit. In this process, short fibers that are not clamped by the nipper unit are combed out of the tuft by the combing segments. In addition, other components (such as dirt, lice eggs and seed parts) are combed out during this combing process. The circular comb is arranged in a suction shaft, which is connected to a vacuum source via a suction channel. After combing, part of the combed-out material is removed directly to a collection point via the suction channel due to the action of the applied vacuum.

[0003] The remaining combed-out material (e.g., consisting of combed fibers) becomes trapped between the needles and / or teeth of the card clothing. To ensure consistent combing results in subsequent combing cycles, the combing section must be cleaned before the next combing cycle begins. During this cleaning process, the components trapped between the needles and / or teeth of the combing section are removed by a cleaning element. This is achieved by a circular brush, which is rotatably mounted below the circular comb and has bristles arranged around its circumference. These bristles engage in sections between the card clothing of the combing section during its rotational movement. The trapped components are released from the card clothing and conveyed into the suction channel via the vacuum-generated air flow.

[0004] After multiple combing cycles, the bristles of the circular brush wear out and must be replaced. To do this, a special coupling nut must be removed to remove the circular brush along with the shaft. This requires special tools and is complex, requiring multiple technicians. Summary of the Invention

[0005] The object of the present invention is to provide a circular brush for a combing machine of the type mentioned at the outset which does not have all or some of the disadvantages of the known prior art and which allows for improved ease of maintenance work.

[0006] This object is achieved in whole or in part by the features of the present invention. In order to solve this problem, a combing brush segment for a combing machine is proposed. The combing brush segment comprises:

[0007] - at least one outer side, wherein the at least one outer side comprises a plurality of bristle bundles;

[0008] - at least one fixing opening, wherein the at least one fixing opening is designed to fix the brush segment to a shaft of a combing machine; and

[0009] - at least one mating side surface, wherein the at least one mating side surface is adapted to cooperate with at least one mating side surface of an adjacent brush segment to form a circular brush.

[0010] In other words, in order to solve this problem, a combing brush segment for a combing machine is proposed, which comprises:

[0011] - at least one substantially semi-cylindrical shell-shaped body comprising:

[0012] o an outer side comprising a plurality of bristle bundles; and

[0013] ○ an inner side arranged opposite to the outer side; and

[0014] o at least one mating side surface, wherein the at least one mating side surface is designed to mate with at least one mating side surface of an adjacent second brush segment to form a circular brush; and

[0015] - At least one fixing opening, which is arranged on the outside and extends through the main body, wherein the at least one fixing opening is designed to fix the brush segment on a shaft of the combing machine.

[0016] Advantageously, a circular brush comprising at least two brush segments can be assembled without having to disassemble the comber's shaft connected to the drive and without the use of special tools. This saves a considerable amount of time during installation and maintenance and avoids the need to move the shaft, which is adjusted relative to the circular comb. Furthermore, due to the possible types of fastening of the brush segments according to the invention, the resulting circular brush can be wider than circular brushes known from the prior art. In the current prior art, the shaft of the circular brush must be fixed with a special coupling nut. Thanks to the invention, such a special coupling nut can be dispensed with, which allows for the production of a wider brush and, therefore, improved and more trouble-free cleaning of the comb of the comber.

[0017] According to one embodiment, the brush segment comprises at least one inner side oriented towards the shaft of the combing machine, wherein preferably the at least one inner side has at least one shaft contact element.

[0018] According to one embodiment, the combing segment comprises an inner side with a substantially semi-cylindrical concave surface, which is designed to partially surround the shaft.

[0019] According to one embodiment, the brush segment comprises at least two side ends between at least one outer side, at least one mating side surface and at least one inner side, the at least one inner side preferably having a concave surface. The ends of the at least two side ends form a curve with the center of the at least one outer side and / or the center of the at least one inner side, or form a broken line with at least two straight sections forming an angle with each other.

[0020] During the rotational movement of the circular comb, in particular at higher speeds of the circular brush, due to the elastic deformability of the brush segments, the brush segments may bend under the action of centrifugal forces, thereby bringing the bristle bundles closer to the teeth of the card clothing, which causes the bristle bundles to wear more quickly when in contact with the card clothing. In such embodiments, the design of the brush takes into account the expected dynamic forces generated by the rotation of the brush during the combing operation.

[0021] According to one embodiment, at least one fixing opening connects at least one outer side to at least one inner side.

[0022] The fixing opening is preferably a through hole. For example, the brush segment can be attached to the shaft using an easy-to-use fixing screw without the need for special tools and without having to adjust or even remove the shaft of the combing machine for fixing.

[0023] According to one embodiment, the at least one fixation opening is designed to receive a fixation element, preferably a captive screw.

[0024] According to one embodiment, the number of fixing elements is between 1 and 4, preferably between 1 and 3, in particular 2.

[0025] According to one embodiment, the fixing element is located between one fifth and four fifths of the brushing segment, preferably between one quarter and three quarters of the brushing segment.

[0026] Due to one of the above configurations, the brush segments can remain on the shaft while being fixed to the shaft. This makes it easier and simpler to fix the brush segments to the shaft.

[0027] According to one embodiment, at least one fixing opening has a sleeve, preferably a metal sleeve. Such an embodiment offers the advantage that the force exerted by the fixing element (e.g. a screw) installed in the fixing opening can be introduced more evenly into the brush segment, thereby reducing stress peaks.

[0028] According to one embodiment, the length of the sleeve between at least one outer side and at least one inner side is between 5 mm and 25 mm, preferably between 10 mm and 20 mm, in particular between 13 mm and 17 mm.

[0029] Due to one of the above-mentioned configurations, a particularly mechanically suitable connection between the fastening element and the brush segment can be achieved.

[0030] According to one embodiment, at least one mating side surface of a first brush segment has a connecting element designed so that it can engage in a corresponding connecting element of a mating side surface of an adjacent brush segment, thereby creating a positive connection between the first brush segment and the second brush segment.

[0031] According to one embodiment, at least one mating side surface has a connecting element so that a positive connection is produced by engaging at least one mating side surface with at least one mating side surface of an adjacent combing segment or engaging the connecting element of at least one mating side surface with the connecting element of at least one mating side surface of an adjacent combing segment.

[0032] Due to one of the above configurations, at least two mating side surfaces may be mated and connected together to form a circular comb brush.

[0033] According to one embodiment, the arrangement of the bristle tufts on at least one outer edge forms a quincunx pattern when the at least one mating side surface mates with at least one mating side surface of an adjacent brush segment.

[0034] Advantageously, a plurality of bristle tufts may be attached to at least one outer edge. The arrangement of the bristle tufts is a repeated row-by-row arrangement of bristle tufts, each row being offset from the previous and / or next row by half the distance between two bristle tufts.

[0035] According to one embodiment, the at least one shaft contact element is designed to establish a linear contact, preferably an annular linear contact, with the shaft of the combing machine.

[0036] Advantageously, the shaft contact element has a contact point for contacting the shaft so that the brush segment in the assembled state is pressed against the shaft by the fixing element, so that the body of the brush segment bends due to elastic deformation. This flexibility of the body allows the brush segment to better adapt to the shaft.

[0037] This object is achieved in whole or in part by the features of the present invention. In order to solve this problem, a shaft for a combing machine with at least two brush sections is proposed. The shaft comprises at least one fixing hole.

[0038] Advantageously, at least two brush segments can each be anchored in the same bore in the shaft to form a circular brush.

[0039] According to one embodiment, at least one fixing hole has a thread.

[0040] Advantageously, at least one brush segment can be screwed onto the shaft.

[0041] A preferred embodiment of a circular brush according to the invention for a combing machine comprises at least two brush segments according to an embodiment of the invention and a shaft according to an embodiment of the invention.

[0042] Advantageously, the circular brush can be assembled using brush segments without disassembling the comber shaft and without the need for specialized tools. This saves considerable time and prevents the shaft from moving. Furthermore, the circular brush formed according to the present invention can be wider than circular brushes known from the prior art.

[0043] To achieve this object, a combing machine is proposed, which comprises at least two brush segments according to an embodiment of the invention and a shaft according to an embodiment of the invention or a circular brush according to an embodiment of the invention.

[0044] With this combing machine, maintenance of the circular brush, in particular replacement of the circular brush, can be performed relatively quickly compared to combing machines known from the prior art, and special tools can be omitted. Likewise, the frequency of readjustment of the circular brush can be reduced. DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0045] The above and other objects, features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description of embodiments thereof, which are described by way of illustration and non-limiting reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

[0051] - Figure 6 is a schematic diagram of at least one inner side 140 of a brush segment 100 having at least one shaft contact element 145;

[0052] - Figure 7 is a schematic diagram of a circular comb brush 300 according to another embodiment; and

[0053] - Figure 8 is a schematic diagram of an embodiment of the curvature 109 of the combing segment 100.

[0054] Figure 1The combing machine shown includes a nipper unit, also called a nipper, which moves back and forth via rockers 404 and 405. The rocker 404 is rotatably mounted on the circular comb axis 412 and the nipper 401. The rocker 405, rotatably mounted on the nipper 401, is non-rotatably connected to a driven nipper shaft 406. Cotton wool 901 is supplied to a feed drum 402, rotatably mounted within the nipper 401. The cotton wool 901 is unwound from a cotton roll (not shown), which rests on a winding roller (also not shown) for the unwinding process.

[0055] exist Figure 1 In the position shown, the nippers 401 are open and in a forward position, wherein the ends 902 (also referred to as tufts) protruding from the nippers are placed against and welded to the ends 903 of the already formed fiber fleece 904. The fiber fleece 904 is held by a pair of tearing rollers 403, which perform a rotational movement for the welding and tearing process, as indicated by the arrows, thereby moving the fiber fleece 904 and / or its ends 902 in a transport direction 910. In the rear end position (not shown) of the nippers 401, the nippers are closed so that the tufts 902 protruding from the nippers 401 are combed by the combing segments of the rotatably mounted circular comb 408 and / or the card clothing 409.

[0056] The circular comb 408, which is rotatably mounted in the machine frame via a circular comb shaft 412, is located within a substantially circumferentially closed suction shaft 413, which flows into a channel 415. As schematically shown, the channel 415 is connected to a vacuum source 414, by means of which the separated material is conveyed to a schematically shown collection point 422.

[0057] The separated material, consisting of short fibers, sheath parts, and other impurities, is combed out of the tufts 902 by the card cloth 409 during the combing process. A portion of the combed material is transferred directly to the channel 415 by the vacuum applied via the vacuum source 414 and the resulting air flow. The remainder, particularly the combed fibers, remains in the card cloth 409 or between the card cloth teeth 410 and is conveyed downward to the position shown by the rotational movement of the circular comb 408. The card cloth 409 then enters the active range of the circular brush 420, which is also rotatably mounted on the suction shaft 413 via the shaft 416 and is equipped with bristle bundles distributed around its circumference.

[0058] In the current prior art, the shaft of a circular brush must be secured with a dedicated axially mounted coupling nut. The coupling nut is located on the side of the circular brush along the shaft. This type of securing requires extensive installation and removal time, multiple experienced technicians, and specialized tools. With the circular brush 300, the present invention significantly reduces this effort. The circular brush 300 may include a brush segment 100 and a shaft 200.

[0059] The brush segment 100, subject of the present invention, comprises at least one outer side 110, at least one fixing opening 120, at least one mating side surface 130 and at least one inner side 140 oriented towards the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400 in the assembled state, e.g. Figure 2 shown.

[0060] The at least one outer side 110 comprises a plurality of radially outwardly projecting bristle tufts 310 such that the bristle tufts 310 are arranged in rows. Preferably, the at least one outer side 110 has a convex surface having at least a first curvature.

[0061] The inner side 140 is located on the side of the combing segment 100 opposite the outer side 110. The inner side 140 has a concave surface with at least one second curvature. In the assembled state, the inner side 140 is oriented toward the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400 and has at least one shaft contact element 145, as shown in the embodiment shown. Figure 2 shown.

[0062] The at least one shaft contact element 145 is designed to make linear contact, preferably annular linear contact, with the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400. This contact point with the shaft, i.e. the shaft contact element 145, enables the brush segment 100 to bend when the brush segment 100 is pressed against the shaft, since the brush segment 100 has no continuous contact surface with the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400.

[0063] If the brush segment 100 is actually pressed against the shaft 200 or is fixed to the shaft 200 by a bolt connection, the shaft contact element 145 creates a contact point with the shaft, and due to the elastic deformation of the brush segment 100, the brush segment 100 can bend and / or at least one inner side 140 can come into contact with the shaft 200. Therefore, the flexibility of the brush segment 100 enables the brush segment 100 to better adapt to the shaft 200 if the installation space is narrow.

[0064] Once in the mounted position, the brush segment 100 can be fixed to the shaft 200 by means of at least one fixing opening 120, preferably two fixing openings 120, each of which is located between one quarter and three quarters of the length and / or width of the brush segment 100. The at least one fixing opening 120 can be a through hole 120 and can connect the at least one outer side 110 with the at least one inner side 140.

[0065] According to a variant, the wall thickness, ie the distance between the at least one outer side 110 and the at least one inner side 140 , is between 5 mm and 25 mm, preferably between 10 mm and 20 mm, in particular between 13 mm and 17 mm.

[0066] like Figure 3As shown, the brush segment 100 can be fixed to the shaft 200 by means of fixing elements 301, preferably by means of captive screws 301. The number of fixing elements 301 can be between 1 and 4, preferably between 1 and 3, in particular 2, and / or the fixing elements 301 can be located between one-fifth and four-fifths of the length and / or width of the brush segment 100, preferably between one-quarter and three-quarters of the length and / or width of the brush segment 100.

[0067] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400 comprises at least one fixing hole 210 having a thread, wherein the at least one fixing hole 210 is intended for at least one brush segment 100, preferably for at least two brush segments 100. Thus, at least two brush segments 100 can each be anchored in the same fixing hole 210 on two different sides of the shaft 200, so as to form a circular brush 300.

[0068] To ensure better force distribution and adhesion of the fixing element 301 and / or captive screw 301 to the brush segment 100, the fixing opening 120 has a sleeve 125, preferably a metal sleeve 125. According to this embodiment, the body 101 of the brush segment can be made of plastic, for example, using a cost-effective injection molding process, because the forces necessary to adequately secure the brush segment 100 to the shaft 200 can be optimally distributed and directed into the body 101 via the fixing element 301. This prevents overstress and undesirable plastic deformation. This configuration also allows the brush segment 100 to be held on the shaft 200 and simultaneously secured thanks to the easily accessible fixing element 301 and / or captive screw 301, without the need for specialized tools and without the need to move the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400. Consequently, securing the brush segment 100 to the shaft 200 becomes much easier and simpler.

[0069] like Figure 4 As shown, the brush segment 100 and / or the fixing opening 120 and / or the sleeve 125 form a spacing of 0.25 mm to 2 mm, preferably between 0.5 mm and 1.5 mm, in particular between 0.75 mm and 1.25 mm, from the shaft 200. If the brush segment 100 is fixed to the shaft 200 by a screw connection, the fixing opening 120 and / or the sleeve 125 are in contact with the shaft 200.

[0070] As mentioned above, in the prior art, the shaft of the circular brush must be secured with a dedicated axially mounted coupling nut. This coupling nut is located on the side of the circular brush along the shaft. First, the shaft 416 with the circular brush 420 must be positioned at the correct distance from the circular comb 408. It should be noted that in the prior art, the shaft 416 with the circular brush 420 must be fixed at both ends. This type of fixation means that the distance between the shaft 416 and the circular comb 408 must be matched on both sides of the front circular brush. In other words, to maintain optimal combing performance of the circular comb 408, the card clothing 409 must be thoroughly cleaned with the prior art circular brush 420 after each combing process. To achieve optimal cleaning performance, the distance between the shaft 416 and the circular comb 408 must be readjusted and optimized each time the circular brush 420 is replaced. This drawback requires significant installation and removal time, multiple experienced technicians, and specialized tools. The present invention significantly reduces this effort. After an initial adjustment of the shaft 200, the shaft generally does not need to be moved when the brush segment 100 is replaced. In such an embodiment, the circular brush 300 comprises at least two brush segments 100 and a shaft 200, so that the circular brush 300 with the brush segments 100 can be installed without disassembling the shaft 200 of the comber 400 and without special tools, as already mentioned above.

[0071] Due to one of the further aspects of the present invention, these dedicated coupling nuts are no longer required, and the brush segments 100 can be wider than the prior art round brushes 420. Due to the wider brush segments 100, i.e., brush segments 100 without end coupling nuts, the size of the air passages through the end coupling nuts is reduced. This improves the fluid flow dynamics in the combing machine 400 during the combing process. In particular, this can reduce undesirable turbulence in the edge regions of the comb.

[0072] like Figure 6 and Figure 7 As shown, the circular comb brush 300 may be composed of at least two comb brush segments 100. In fact, at least one mating side surface 130 is suitable for mating with at least one mating side surface 130 of an adjacent comb brush segment 100 so as to form the circular comb brush 300 together and in combination with at least one other comb brush segment 100. At least one mating side surface 130 has a connecting element, so that a positive connection is produced by means of the engagement of at least one mating side surface 130 with at least one mating side surface 130 of an adjacent comb brush segment 100, and thus the circular comb brush 300 is formed. According to one embodiment, when in a bolted state, at least one mating side surface 130 of the comb brush segment 100 may form a gap of 0.05 mm to 0.2 mm. In addition, the shaft contact elements 145 of at least two comb brush segments 100 (for example, Figure 81 and 2. If the brush segment 100 is in an assembled state but not tightened, i.e., the captive screw 301 has not yet reached the stop, the contact lines can come together and form a continuous annular linear contact or contact surface on the shaft 200. As described above, if the brush segment 100 is fixed to the shaft 200 by a bolt connection, i.e., when the captive screw 301 has reached the stop, the fixing opening 120 and / or the sleeve 125 are in contact with the shaft 200, as described above.

[0073] If at least one mating side surface 130 mates with at least one mating side surface 130 of an adjacent brush segment 100, the arrangement of the bristle bundles 310 on the edge 111 of at least one outer side 110 forms a quincunx pattern 115, as shown in FIG. Figure 5 and Figure 6 This arrangement of the bristle tufts 310 is a repeated row-by-row arrangement of the bristle tufts 310, with each row being offset from the previous and / or next line on each line 107 by approximately half the distance between two bristle tufts 310. This allows a large number of bristle tufts 310 to be attached to the edge 111 of at least one outer side 110.

[0074] This saves a lot of time and eliminates the need to move the adjusted shaft relative to the circular comb 200. Furthermore, due to the possible type of fixing of the brush segments according to the invention, the circular comb brush 300 can be wider than circular comb brushes known from the prior art.

[0075] like Figure 8 As shown, the brush segment 100 can be tortuous and can have at least two side ends 103 because the brush segment 100 is not fixed to the shaft 200 by a bolt connection. The at least two side ends 103 are located between at least one outer side 110 having at least one mating side surface 130 and at least one inner side 140. In other words, the at least two side ends 103 can be side edges of the brush segment 100, and the at least one mating side surface 130 can be a long edge.

[0076] The ends 105 of at least two side ends 103, i.e., the upper edges or lower edges of at least two side ends 103, may form a curve 107 with the center of at least one outer side 110 and / or the center of at least one inner side 140, thereby forming a curvature 109 of the combing segment 100, such as Figure 8 Alternatively, the distal ends 105 of the at least two side end portions 103 may form a fold line with the center of the at least one outer side 110 and / or the center of the at least one inner side 140, the fold line having at least two straight portions and / or angles that may form an angle with each other, and forming a curvature 109 of the brush segment 100. The formed line 107, i.e., the curve 107 or fold line, may extend more or less parallel to the at least one mating side surface 130 and / or may extend at a right angle to the at least one distal end 105 of the at least two side end portions 103.

[0077] When used in a combing machine, the circular brush 300 is driven by a drive motor and positioned so that the ends of the outwardly protruding bristle tufts 310 engage between the teeth 410 of the card clothing 409. That is, during the rotation of the circular comb 408, due to the high speed of the circular brush 300, a plurality of bristle tufts 310 engage with the card clothing 409. Furthermore, at the high speed of the circular brush 300, due to centrifugal force and the elastic deformation of the brush segments 100, the brush segments 100 can bend, and the bristle tufts 310 can move toward the teeth 410 of the card clothing 409. Because the brush segments 100 are screwed onto the shaft 200, the curvature 109 is flattened, and tension is generated at the ends of the brush segments 100, pressing the brush segments 100 and their ends against the shaft 200.

[0078] In other words, the curvature 109 of the brush segment 100 is flattened by the tightened fixing element 301 and / or the curve 107 or the broken line can be more or less straightened, which results in the bristle tufts 310 at the end 105 reaching the same height as the bristle tufts 310 in the center of at least one outer side 110. This results in better cleaning of the card clothing, since the card clothing is combed evenly over its entire length.

[0079] During this process, the combed material remaining in the card clothing 409 and / or between its card clothing teeth 410 is actually separated by the bristles of the brush bundle 310, and due to the flexibility of the combing brush section 100, a better cleanliness of the card clothing is achieved, thereby achieving a better adaptation of the brush bundle 310 to the card clothing 409.

[0080] Alternatively, the tips 105 of at least two side ends 103 may also be designed so that when the brush segment 100 is assembled, they press against the shaft with a defined centripetal force, such that the defined centripetal force is greater than or substantially equal to the maximum centrifugal force expected to act on the brush during operation of the combing machine. This prevents undesirable deformation of the side ends 103 and uneven wear of the bristles during combing operation.
