Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This disclosure relates to a connector limiting plug, a connector assembly having a connector limiting plug, and a connector head assembly having a connector limiting plug. Background Technology
[0002] Currently, composite connectors on the market have evolved into multi-slot structures with stacked configurations, and the slot interfaces can be of different forms, such as composite connectors with an upper DP slot and a lower HDMI slot.
[0003] However, due to the structural design of the composite connector, when only the lower HDMI slot is used, the DP slot is located above the inserted HDMI connector. The upper edge of the HDMI connector can only be restrained by the pin structure of the upper DP slot, which also bears the reaction force of the HDMI connector's upward displacement. This significantly reduces the stability of the HDMI connector. As a result, compared to connectors with a traditional single HDMI slot, the HDMI connector in the aforementioned composite connector is more prone to detachment. Summary of the Invention
[0004] According to some embodiments of this disclosure, a connector limiting plug is configured for insertion into a connector having communication between a first slot and a second slot. The connector limiting plug includes a body and an extension structure. A retaining wall is provided on the rear side of the body. The extension structure extends from the front side of the body away from the retaining wall and is configured to be inserted into the first slot of the connector. A gap exists between the extension structure and the body. The bottom surface of the extension structure has an abutment portion adjacent to the gap, the bottom end of the abutment portion being lower than the bottom surface of the body. When a male connector is inserted into the second slot of the connector, the abutment portion is configured to abut against the male connector and rotate towards the gap.
[0005] In some embodiments, the connector limiting plug further includes a winding portion that extends from the edge of the retaining wall in a direction opposite to the extension direction of the extension structure.
[0006] In some embodiments, the connector limiting plug further includes a wire harness, one end of which extends from the winding portion, wherein the wire harness is configured such that after the male connector is inserted into the second slot of the connector, the other end of the wire harness bypasses the male connector and is positioned on the winding portion.
[0007] In some embodiments, the winding portion includes a locking portion, and the wire harness portion is configured to be fixed by the locking portion after passing around the male connector.
[0008] In some embodiments, the aforementioned engaging portion includes a first engaging portion and a second engaging portion, the first engaging portion being located below the second engaging portion, each of the first engaging portion and the second engaging portion having a groove, and the wire harness portion being configured to be fixed sequentially through the groove of the first engaging portion and the groove of the second engaging portion after passing around the male connector.
[0009] In some embodiments, the aforementioned engaging portion includes a third engaging portion, and the wire harness portion includes a positioning portion. The positioning portion of the wire harness portion is configured to engage and position with the third engaging portion after the wire harness portion passes around the male connector.
[0010] In some embodiments, the third engaging portion has a positioning protrusion, and the positioning portion has a plurality of through holes, one of which of the plurality of through holes in the cable harness portion is configured to allow the positioning protrusion to pass through and be fixed after the cable harness portion passes around the male connector.
[0011] In some embodiments, the aforementioned engaging portion has two slots, a movable portion, and a positioning hook. The movable portion is located between the two slots, and the positioning hook is connected to the movable portion. The positioning hook is configured to allow the wire harness portion to pass through and be fixed, and the movable portion is configured to allow pressing to move the positioning hook, thereby releasing the wire harness portion.
[0012] According to some embodiments of this disclosure, a connector assembly includes a connector and a connector retaining plug. The connector has a first slot and a second slot side-by-side, and the first slot and the second slot are at least partially in communication. The connector retaining plug includes a body and an extension structure. The body has a rear side wall. The extension structure extends from the front side of the body in a direction away from the rear side wall and is configured to be inserted into the first slot of the connector. There is a gap between the extension structure and the body. The bottom surface of the extension structure has an abutment portion adjacent to the gap, and the bottom end of the abutment portion is lower than the bottom surface of the body. When a male connector is inserted into the second slot of the connector, the abutment portion is configured to abut against the male connector and rotate toward the gap.
[0013] According to some embodiments of this disclosure, a connector assembly includes a connecting wire and a connector retaining plug. The connecting wire includes a male connector and a wire, wherein the male connector has a first end and a second end, the first end being configured to be inserted into a second slot of the connector, and the second end being connected to the wire. The connector retaining plug connects to the connecting wire and includes a body and an extension structure. The rear side of the body has a retaining wall. The extension structure extends from the front side of the body in a direction away from the retaining wall and is configured to be inserted into a first slot of the connector. The bottom surface of the extension structure has an abutment portion. When the extension structure is inserted into the first slot and the male connector is inserted into the second slot, the abutment portion of the extension structure is configured to abut against the male connector.
[0014] In the above embodiment, since the connector limiting plug with the extension structure can be inserted into the first slot of the connector, there is a gap between the extension structure and the body, and the bottom end of the abutment portion of the extension structure is lower than the bottom surface of the body. Therefore, when the male connector is inserted into the second slot of the connector, the abutment portion of the extension structure can abut against the top surface of the male connector and rotate towards the gap, applying an elastic pressing force to the male connector. The connector limiting plug not only increases the pull-out force of the male connector inserted into the second slot, preventing loosening, but also, without affecting the overall appearance and dimensions of the connector, changes the position of the reaction force when the male connector is inserted, thus preventing damage to the contacts of the first slot. In addition, the connector limiting plug can be easily removed when the male connector is not inserted, making it convenient to use. Attached Figure Description

[0066] Figure 1 A perspective view of a connector assembly 300 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure before the connector limiting plug 100 is inserted into the first slot 210 of the connector 200. Figure 2 Draw Figure 1 A perspective view of the connector limiting plug 100 after it is inserted into the first slot 210 of the connector 200. See also... Figure 1 and Figure 2The connector assembly 300 includes a connector 200 and a connector retaining plug 100. The connector 200 has a first slot 210 and a second slot 220 side-by-side, which can be vertically aligned (e.g., stacked), horizontally aligned, or any other possible arrangement. The first slot 210 and the second slot 220 are at least partially connected. In some embodiments, the edge contours of the two slots (i.e., the entry points for the connector retaining plug and the male connector) can be considered as a single, continuous large opening. The first slot 210 and the second slot 220 can be different connection ends (ports). For example, the width of the first slot 210 is greater than the width of the second slot 220. In some embodiments, the first slot 210 and the second slot 220 are different video connection ends; the first slot 210 can be a DP connection end, and the second slot 220 can be an HDMI connection end, but are not limited to these connection ends.
[0067] The connector retaining plug 100 is detachably disposed in the first slot 210 of the connector 200. The connector retaining plug 100 includes a body 110 and an extension structure 130. The rear side of the body 110 has a retainer 112. The retainer 112 can be used to abut against the edge of the connecting wire inserted into the second slot 220 and the first slot 210, and can also facilitate the user to push the connector retaining plug 100 into or pull out of the first slot 210 of the connector 200. The extension structure 130 extends from the front side of the body 110 in a direction D1 away from the retainer 112 and is configured to be inserted into the first slot 210 of the connector 200. In some embodiments, the body 110 and the extension structure 130 of the connector retaining plug 100 may be integrally molded plastic parts.
[0068] Figure 3 Draw Figure 2 The second slot 220 of connector 200 is a cross-sectional view along line segment 3-3' when the male connector P is inserted. See also... Figure 2 and Figure 3 One end of the connecting cable is a male connector P, such as an HDMI connector. Before the male connector P is inserted into the second slot 220 of the connector 200 in direction D1, the connector retaining plug 100 is already inserted into the first slot 210 of the connector 200 and positioned therein. There is a gap G between the extension structure 130 of the connector retaining plug 100 and the body 110. The bottom surface of the extension structure 130 has an abutment portion 132. The abutment portion 132 is adjacent to the gap G, and the bottom end of the abutment portion 132 is lower than the bottom surface of the body 110. This design allows the abutment portion 132 of the extension structure 130 to move toward the gap G when force is applied. Therefore, the extension structure 130 can be regarded as a spring arm structure.
[0069] In this embodiment, the top surface of the extension structure 130 of the connector positioning plug 100 has a groove 131. When the connector positioning plug 100 is inserted into the first slot 210 of the connector 200, the hook 212 of the connector 200 can be engaged in the groove 131 of the extension structure 130 for positioning, and can provide the user with a positioning feel.
[0070] Figure 4 Draw Figure 3 A cross-sectional view of the second slot 220 of connector 200 after the male connector P has been inserted. See also... Figure 3 and Figure 4 When the male connector P is inserted into the second slot 220 of the connector 200, the abutment portion 132 of the extension structure 130 abuts against the male connector P, causing the male connector P to rotate in the direction D2 towards the gap G. In this way, the abutment portion 132 of the extension structure 130 can apply an elastic pressing force to the male connector P, preventing the male connector P from coming loose from the connector 200. In this state, the retaining wall 112 of the connector limiting plug 100 can abut against the side wall of the insulator on the male connector P, acting as a blocking element to prevent the male connector P from being over-inserted into the second slot 220, thus preventing damage to the connector 200 or the male connector P.
[0071] Specifically, since the connector limiting plug 100 with extension structure 130 can be inserted into the first slot 210 of the connector 200, there is a gap G between the extension structure 130 and the body 110, and the bottom end of the abutment portion 132 of the extension structure 130 is lower than the bottom surface of the body 110, when the male connector P is inserted into the second slot 220 of the connector 200, the abutment portion 132 of the extension structure 130 can abut against the top surface of the male connector P and rotate towards the gap G, applying an elastic pressing force to the male connector P. The connector limiting plug 100 can not only increase the pull-out force of the male connector P inserted into the second slot 220 and prevent loosening, but also, without affecting the overall appearance and size of the connector 200, change the position of the reaction force when the male connector P is inserted through the structural design of the connector limiting plug 100, thus avoiding damage to the contacts of the first slot 210. In addition, the connector limiting plug 100 can be easily disassembled (e.g., pulled out in the opposite direction of direction D1) when the male connector P is not inserted, making it convenient to use.
[0072] Figure 5 A front view of the abutment portion 132a according to another embodiment of the present disclosure is shown. The bottom end of the abutment portion 132a may have a wavy structure 134, which may be a serrated structure (e.g., Figure 5(As shown), to improve the stability of the male connector P. The corrugated structure 134 may be integrally molded from the same material as the abutment portion 132a, such as plastic. In some embodiments, the corrugated structure 134 and the abutment portion 132a may be made of different materials, for example, the material of the corrugated structure 134 may be rubber or silicone, but this is not intended to limit the present disclosure.
[0073] Figure 6 A front view of the contact portion 132b according to yet another embodiment of this disclosure is shown. This embodiment is similar to... Figure 5 The implementation methods differ in that, Figure 6 The bottom end of the abutment portion 132b has a plurality of protrusions 136 to enhance the stability of the male connector P. The protrusions 136 may be integrally molded from the same material as the abutment portion 132b, such as plastic. In some embodiments, the protrusions 136 and the abutment portion 132b may be made of different materials, for example, the material of the protrusions 136 may be rubber or silicone, but this is not intended to limit the present disclosure.
[0074] The component connections, materials, and functions already described will not be repeated here; they will be explained separately. The following describes other types of connector limit plugs.
[0075] Figure 7 The illustration depicts a connector retaining plug 100a inserted into a first slot 210 of a connector 200 and a male connector P inserted into a second slot 220 of the connector 200 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure (see...). Figure 4 (See the 3D diagram below.) Also refer to... Figure 4 and Figure 7 The connector limiting plug 100a, in addition to the aforementioned body 110 and extension structure 130, also includes a winding portion 140, extending from the edge of the retaining wall 112 in a direction opposite to the extending direction of the extension structure 130. In one embodiment, after the male connector P is inserted into the second slot 220 of the connector 200, a separate bundle of wire (not shown) can be wrapped around the male connector P and the winding portion 140 to achieve a secure hold on the male connector P. In another embodiment, such as Figure 7 As shown, the connector retaining plug 100a also includes a winding portion 140 and a wire harness portion 150. The winding portion 140 of the connector retaining plug 100a extends from the edge of the retainer 112 in a direction D3 opposite to the extending direction (i.e., direction D1) of the extending structure 130. One end of the wire harness portion 150 extends from the end of the winding portion 140. After the male connector P is inserted into the second slot 220 of the connector 200, the other end of the wire harness portion 150 can be positioned around the male connector P and positioned on the winding portion 140. Since the winding portion 140 can be connected and wound by the wire harness portion 150, the stability of the male connector P is further increased.
[0076] In this embodiment, the winding portion 140 of the connector limiting plug 100a includes an engaging portion 147, and the wire harness portion 150 is fixed by the engaging portion 147 after passing over the male connector P. The engaging portion 147 includes a first engaging portion 142 and a second engaging portion 144. The first engaging portion 142 has a groove 143, and the second engaging portion 144 has a groove 145. The wire harness portion 150 can be fixed sequentially through the groove 143 of the first engaging portion 142 and the groove 145 of the second engaging portion 144 after passing over the male connector P. The connector limiting plug 100a uses two notch structures (i.e., grooves 143 and 145) to limit and change the direction of tension, which can be used for male connectors P with different shapes and can be reliably fixed.
[0077] See also Figure 8 and Figure 4 In addition to the aforementioned body 110 and extension structure 130, the connector limiting plug 100b also includes a winding portion 140a. Figure 8 and Figure 7 The difference lies in that the winding portion 140a has at least two protruding ribs 146, forming a positioning recess between the two protruding ribs 146. In this embodiment, after the male connector P is inserted into the second slot 220 of the connector 200, the cable tie 160 can be bypassed by the male connector P, so that the cable tie 160 is partially positioned between the two protruding ribs 146 of the winding portion 140a. Figure 8 The number of ribs 146 is for illustrative purposes only and can be determined according to design requirements. The winding portion 140a allows the cable tie 160 to be wound around, further enhancing the stability of the male connector P.
[0078] Figure 9 The illustration depicts a connector retaining plug 100c inserted into a first slot 210 of a connector 200 and a male connector P inserted into a second slot 220 of the connector 200 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure (see Figure 1000). Figure 4 The 3D diagram is shown below. (See attached image.) Figure 4 and Figure 9 The connector limiting plug 100c, in addition to the aforementioned body 110 and extension structure 130, also includes a winding portion 140b. This embodiment and... Figure 7 The difference lies in that the wire-bundling portion 150a of the winding portion 140b includes a positioning portion 151, which is configured to engage and position with the engaging portion 147a (i.e., the third engaging portion) after the wire-bundling portion 150a passes over the male connector P. The positioning portion 151 has multiple through holes 152. The engaging portion 147a of the winding portion 140b has a positioning protrusion 148. One of the through holes 152 of the wire-bundling portion 150a allows the positioning protrusion 148 of the engaging portion 147a to pass through after the wire-bundling portion 150a passes over the male connector P, thereby fixing the wire-bundling portion 150a. Since the winding portion 140b can connect and position the wire-bundling portion 150a, it further provides stability to the male connector P.
[0079] In this embodiment, the positioning protrusion 148 is two spring pieces. In other embodiments, the positioning protrusion 148 may also be a spherical structure, and its diameter may be slightly larger than the diameter of the through hole 152 of the wire harness portion 150a, providing stability and positioning feel. However, the structure of the third engaging portion and the positioning portion is not limited to this. The positioning portion may also have multiple protrusions, and the third engaging portion may have a hole for positioning and fixing one of the protrusions.
[0080] In some embodiments, the connector assembly 400 includes a connecting wire 410 and a connector retaining plug 100c. The connecting wire 410 includes a male connector P and a wire L. A first end of the male connector P is configured to be inserted into a second slot 220 of the connector 200, and a second end is connected to the wire L. The connector retaining plug 100c is connected to the connecting wire 410. The connector retaining plug 100c of the connector assembly 400 may replace any of the aforementioned connector retaining plugs 100, 100a, 100b and the subsequently described connector retaining plugs 100d, 100e.
[0081] Figure 10 The illustration depicts a connector retaining plug 100d inserted into a first slot 210 of a connector 200 and a male connector P inserted into a second slot 220 of the connector 200 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure (see Figure 1). Figure 4 The 3D image after ( ). Figure 11 Draw Figure 10 Top view. See also the above view. Figure 10 and Figure 11 The connector limiting plug 100d includes, in addition to the aforementioned body 110 and extension structure 130, a winding portion 140c. This embodiment and... Figure 9 The implementation method differs in that the winding portion 140c is located on the top surface of the male connector P, and is designed to be top-mounted. The engaging portion 147b of the winding portion 140c has two slots 141a and 141b, a movable portion 149, and a positioning hook H. The movable portion 149 is located between the two slots 141a and 141b. The positioning hook H connects to the movable portion 149. After the cable bundle 150b passes around the male connector P, it can pass through the positioning hook H and be secured. The movable portion 149 can be pressed by the user from one side (e.g., the left side) of the male connector P by applying force F1 to move the positioning hook H, thereby releasing the cable bundle 150b. The connector limiting plug 100d is adaptable to male connectors of different shapes and can securely fix them.
[0082] Figure 12 The illustration depicts a connector retaining plug 100e inserted into a first slot 210 of a connector 200 and a male connector P inserted into a second slot 220 of the connector 200 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure (see...). Figure 4 The 3D image after ( ). Figure 13 Draw Figure 12 Top view. See also the above view. Figure 12 and Figure 13 The connector limiting plug 100e includes, in addition to the aforementioned body 110 and extension structure 130, a winding portion 140d. This embodiment and Figure 10 The implementation method differs in that the winding portion 140d is located on the side of the male connector P, and is a side-mounted design. After the cable bundle portion 150b passes around the male connector P, it can pass through the positioning hook H and be secured. The movable portion 149 allows the user to apply force F2 from one side (e.g., the right side) of the male connector P to move the positioning hook H, thereby releasing the cable bundle portion 150b. The connector limiting plug 100e is compatible with male connectors of different shapes and can securely fix them.
