Abstract

This invention provides a media processing apparatus and a printing apparatus capable of reducing the amount of evaporating components discharged to the outside. The media processing apparatus includes: a media support for supporting a medium being transported along a transport path; a drying unit opposite the media support, separated from the medium supported by the media support, for drying ink adhering to the medium; the drying unit having a housing, in which are disposed: a heating unit separately disposed from the medium and heating the medium in a heating zone; an air outlet for discharging gas flowing along the medium after being blown towards it; an air inlet for drawing in gas passing through the heating zone; a connecting passage connecting the air outlet and the air inlet for gas flow; and a recovery path located downstream of the air inlet in the direction of gas flow along the medium, for recovering a portion of the gas not drawn into the air inlet.
